Lemon grass chicken and pork patty (nem nuong) with rice!
    Thu P.

Great spot to eat Vietnamese on the island! My partner ordered Pho Tai Nam and I got the Lemongrass Chicken and Pork Patty Rice. The Lemongrass Chicken and Port Patty Rice was really good! The chicken was pretty good, but I wish they cooked the skin a little more crispy. It felt really fatty in my soft mouth. The pork patty (or nem nuong) was really good, wow! I wish I got just pork patty rice without chicken. Flavour was on point for it. The rice was as usual and they give you a bed of vegetables. The broth that comes with the dish was good. I tasted a bit of the Pho Tai Nam broth and it was pretty good! They also give you TONS of meat. The pho noodles are a little too thick for my preference. Service was amazing. The floor inside is slippery? Be careful! It's quiet and clean inside. Lots of space.

Absolutely loved my visit to Original Pho! I had the chicken vermicelli noodle bowl and it was hands down the best I've ever had. The chicken is free range and was incredibly juicy and flavourful. The noodles were soft and fresh with lots of veggies!! The spring roll was perfection; crispy on the outside with a delicious filling. They have a nice little patio on the outside where you can eat!! The staff were nice and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Can't wait to come back!

No frills vietnamese place in Langford. Quick service and tasty food. We just ordered 2 bowls on PHo with brisket and meatballs. Broth was light but good. Noodles were al dente. Could use more sliced beef brisket. Service was quick and efficient. Free tea for diners. Place is clean and washrooms well Kept. Lots of locals dining here as well and ordering other stuff. Prices are very reasonable compared To other viet places on the island. Will repeat if in the area. Cheers! Happy eating!

Took a little trip down to Langford to visit family this past weekend and decided to try one of the few Vietnamese places nearby. Original Pho Vietnamese Eatery was rated well online so we decided to give them a try! Just a short wait and we were seated but the friendly staff. I appreciated their covid safety protocols and overall the restaurant felt clean. Onto the food! We ordered an Original Pho ($15), which was on the small side for a large bowl. Ingredients were fresh and the broth had a interesting aftertaste we guessed was tamarind or something of that sort. It was quite average. We also ordered two vermicelli dishes ($15 each), one with lemongrass chicken and the other lemongrass pork, both paired with shredded pork and a fried roll. These were both quite good, the pork being the better of the two. Fried rolls were crispy and a good size. Portion-wise this was standard and had a nice presentation. I was mostly disappointed with the chicken wings special ($10). When the dish arrived I noticed that half the top drumette part was removed and there were 4 wings. These were seasoned well but overcooked and dry. I was appalled that these 4 wings were considered 8 pieces, since 4 of them would then mean they were half pieces? Definitely could use room for improvement on this. Service was prompt and food was fresh. Portions are on the small size for the price, but flavors were decent.

Solid pho location at downtown Victoria. We were dining with locals and it was their first time…read moretrying Pho Tru and they said that the pho was much better than the pho places they have tried in the area. Better than Pho Boi nearby. Broth is deep, delicious and not too sweet or salty. Small area inside with a few tables. Walk up to the counter to order and pay first. Then wait at a table for your food to arrive. You can grab water at a water station at the corner (cold water). Service was polite & efficient and they got us everything we needed. Table centerpieces were not fully refilled so we had to grab some napkins/chili, etc from another nearby table. Did not taste the rice dishes, but the family enjoyed the pho that they had, even my mom's vegetarian pho. Pho broth is delicious and approved!

VERDICT/VALUE Sure, there are a lot of choices for decent Vietnamese food in town - but with good eats, good service, decent prices, it's easy to recommend Pho Tru to family and friends! === 2. FOOD Summer Rolls ($10) Two come at this price and they're done well. We may debate about the peanut sauce (I prefer the lighter-coloured, less bitter one) but this is a good snack or happy all-year round. Fish Tacos ($8) They were out of fish today but we got it with the recommended grilled pork instead - and that was a great decision! The pork was not too thin yet tender and flavourful. It works out to be $4 per taco but the good meat with crisp fresh veggies make the price of admission worth it. Pho #19 ($17) It's basically a house special: all of the meats - and with flavourful soup and a healthy portion of noodles, it's a great choice! Pork Vermicelli ($16.25) A great option for those that don't want any soup splashing around: good portion of fresh veggies mixed with noodles and pork that's thicker than what was included in the tacos, but still tender and flavourful. === 3. SERVICE The service is stellar: the same man who greets you, takes your order, serves your order and ensures all is well before the cheery greeting upon departure is the one making the experience worth the trip! It's relatively busy with dine-in patrons and food app/takeout orders, but the speed of service to the counter did not disappoint. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a little older looking, but it's simple, clean, and effective. Windows on the street side let in a good amount of daylight for tables of up to 8 when all of the two- and four-tops are combined. Once you get past the front door (not automatic/mechanically openable), wheelchairs and baby strollers should fit with some ease. Parking is all street based, which is paid up until 8:00 pm each night.

Review Template ===…read more1. VERDICT/VALUE Not the cheapest place for Vietnamese food, but it could be considered a little more authentic than some of the nearby competition - 3.5 stars! === 2. FOOD Sugarcane Shrimp, Grilled Pork Combo ($23): It's a bun - a vermicelli bowl with shrimp mousse wrapped in sugarcane and grilled pork with a spring roll. I might skip the shrimp next time given the cost... Prawn Salad Rolls ($12): Pricey - but decent and relatively authentic; peanut sauce is chilled (if that's important to note, as some places serve it much warmer). Meatballs Pho (Large - $19): My little guy likes noodles and meatballs - this is the Vietnamese version of the Italian classic we all know :) === 3. SERVICE We were lucky - unlike some of our fellow Yelpers, we came in about 40 mins before closing time and were seated quickly and served quickly. We never felt like they were trying to hustle us out of there and the server was polite and professional. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It was a little dim with daylight running out; I assume it's fairly dim at night as I don't recall much lighting. It appears to be an older place (built in the 80's or 90's?) but relatively clean and comfortable. You could fit wheelchairs and baby strollers in here as well as groups large and small. Parking is interesting: metered parking on the street or a parking garage would be your only options.
