We have been here twice. The first time we were blown away by the quality and quantity of food. The second time - just today - the food was still of very high quality but the service was super slow. Something must have been going on behind the scenes - or perhaps they forgot our order - or maybe there was only one person in the kitchen. At any rate, the snow pea and shrimp pho was particularly wonderful. My husband had pork with vermicelli and spring rolls. It's definitely worth a visit to this little gem. Had dinner and had a great time. Ordered appi taster plate which had spring rolls, lemongrass chicken skewers, and prawn salad rolls. Every element on the plate was excellent. I cannot believe that this amazing establishment is not a 5 star restaurant and if anything, they deserve 6 stars if possible. I love the worker who works there, a quick and kind man with awesome hair. I came here 4 times a week for a while because of how delicious it was. All of the food on this menu is very authentic and my personal favorite was the Thai Red Curry with chicken. I also tried the pho with rare beef and meatballs which was also extra delicious and had a very fair price. I almost totally forgot the Vietnamese Iced Coffee which was basically the best iced coffee that I have ever have. The value of everything was excellent. Also let's talk about the actual restaurant. I usually find that pho restaurants tend to be very dirty and people talk very loud for some reason but not at Le Pho. They have a very nice, clean establishment that does not kill my appetite. A hidden gem near the university. Excellent bahn mi sandwiches and tasty lemongrass chicken skewers with peanut sauce. My spouse gambled on a mango boba with pearls and jelly, now she makes me pick this up as a treat every month. The indoor decor is very relaxing with a gorgeous mural across the entire restaurant and floor to ceiling windows with a nice view of Fort street. Easy take out service. Location ... Le Pho has it and we felt for it. My dry rice noodle bowl was not tossed in a tangy soya and garlic sauce; it was drowned in the salty sauce. On their website, they claim " food is not merely a business, it translates as pure passion and this becomes evident in each and every platter that is served " by the chef, keeping the authentic tastes. 1. Do not ask if they have any drink specials. You will be told a little too firmly that "we never have any specials". 2. Do not even touch the plastic squeeze bottles of sauce on your table. You will be squirted ALL ALONG THE ENTIRE LENGTH of your left arm. And sweater, and shirt, if you are wearing those. 3. Do not mention this to the same waitress who will firmly tell you "That's just the way they are". 4. Absolutely terrible and I would never eat there again. 0 flavour whatsoever, terrible quality chicken, way to many vermicelli noodles. A huge disappointment as I work in the area. I just wanted to acknowledge the nice waitress who unlocked the inside door to the building for my elderly parents who have mobility issues. It would have been too far for my parent to walk around to the Fort Street side to gain access so the door closest to the elevators was unlocked especially for my folks as they entered and exited the restaurant. I don't think I can give this any less than 5 stars since it may be the one and only restaurant all 3 of my kids (12, 8 and 8) agree that it is in their top 3 restaurants in Victoria. I have to agree. The pork vermicelli was one of the best I've had. My son had the rare beef soup and loved it. The whole family also enjoyed the large selection of bubble teas, although the jelly versions were a bigger hit than the black pearl. Thank you for expanding my kids food experience!! read more

New entrant into Victoria's fierce Pho marketplace. Great visibility at major intersection, but poor parking accessibility for clients. Simple but well planned menu. One of the few Vietnamese restaurants offering Bahn Mi sandwiches as a staple menu item. I tried the Pho with meatballs + assorted beef. Arrived hot, extremely fragrant, and with acceptable meat quality and quantity. The spring rolls were overpriced and not made in house. The limited appetizer options need review. 4 stars is a bit generous, more of a 3.5. The restaurant was not busy when I sat down, but I waited nearly 20mins to place my order. The server apologized at least twice saying he thought I was waiting for others to join me. I ordered the #43 Pho with rare beef, meat balls & tendon. It was very quick to arrive. The broth was fantastic! The most aromatic I've ever had. I normally like a lot of basil & almost asked for more (I only got a tiny sprig), but the soup stood up very well on its own. The beef & meat balls were great. The tendon, however, was hard, flavourless & very difficult to chew, unlike my previous encounters with tendon in pho. I'll avoid it next time. Brisket would be a very welcome addition. Bonus points for labelling gluten-free options. read more

Not impressed personally. They claim to be the most authentic Vietnamese kitchen in Victoria. Not too sure but maybe there not Vietnamese..... lol.. broth was good, but no tripe, no well done beef! Tendon under cooked and chunky. I don't think I'll be back to this one. Save you money there's wicked pho at every direction pretty well from this place. Green leaf bistro. Pho vy. Phonomenal. Pho Eva. Anyone of these trumps ten fold. To be fair I haven't tried anything else on menu. The sandwiches looked great coming out! (But haven't tried) But as with any Vietnamese restaurant I go for the pho first! Gotta say from the lack of broth amount that I did get the broth was good. But the bowl showed up and there was like 2" of bowl not full!!!! Common seriously?! First no tripe then no beef. Now your gonna give me a bowl of noodles with four slices of uncooked beef and two meatballs and charge me $15$$$$!!!!$$$ that's upsetting. Although the girls serving were quite friendly and I'm totally happy with the service, the food is definetly lacking in the "quantity" sector and the things I personally go for like the brisket and the tripe and super fresh sprouts and basil. I gotta stay with my green leaf bistro it still Tops my list of top notch pho. So good luck. But I personally will be going elsewhere. For $15 I better get a bowl Of soup! A big one lol. I'm still on the hunt for good pho in Victoria. I got number 45 to-go - beef broth with tofu and snap peas. $11.50 for that is way overpriced. The broth was kind of sweet (?!?) and no amount of hot sauce helped. The tofu had no flavour but was pre-fried. My pho didn't come with cilantro which I'm prety sure it usually does... and barely any green onions either. One piece of basil. :( On the bright side, the containers made eating super easy... if that makes any sense. Broth came in its own well-sealed container and the noodles and everything were in a bowl with a lid so all I had to do was pour the broth over and eat! The paper bag they gave me my food in was stapled and it stayed that way throughout my bus ride and my walk home. Yay. The guy working there was really nice and the kitchen guy seemed nice too. When 2 ladies came in and the server wasn't around, the kitchen guy popped his head out of the window to say hi! Great location, nice decor, clean restaurant with tables set up nicely. Everything should have been good. Unfortunately the pho was not good. It was sort of okay. Edible. Good food and big portions. I had the prawn and lemongrass pork vermicelli and the GF had the Chicken Pho. Everything tasted fresh and was well presented. The GF is a Pho fanatic and only had good things to say about the broth and the portion of noodles and protein. She could only finsh 2/3 of her bowl, so I got to try some too. Didn't manage to order a viet sub , but looking forward to trying one on the next visit. Staff was very attentive but not overbearing. read more

I'm only basing my review on the ONE item I ordered, so I'd love to hear other's impressions. I called in for pickup of a Number 20 Jumbo Prawn Salad Roll. They made it quickly and the price was pretty good - $7.00 and it was a nice size. Sadly, the taste was not great. The 'salad greens' consisted 50% of whole basil leaves. Brown, mushy basil leaves. It was so overpowering, the back of my throat still tastes like basil a few hours later. I'll give the restaurant another chance and try somethign else on the menu, but will never order the salad rolls again. read more

My wife and I live in the neighborhood and were sorry to see the old Eugene's restaurant go as it was a family favorite of ours. However, we always like to give new restaurants a chance (at least once) and so we stopped into Le Pho to check it out. We'd had Vietnamese food before and quite liked it but we weren't prepared for how lovely, fresh and homemade everything tasted. I would suggest trying things you may not have had before in a Vietnamese restaurant. I had their curry dish and it was really amazing. Very different from other curries I've had in the past. Much lighter and fresher tasting. My wife loves the noodle bowl (can't remember the name of it) with the pork, chicken and spring rolls. Been here many times. Prawn salad rolls make a great quick lunch. Very tasty. Had the rare beef pho and the veg pho on a few occasions. Broth is very flavourful. I always to take out and can smell the broth as I walk home - tastes as good as it smells! Staff are great - especially Mike and the guy in the kitchen. We tried spring rolls first. They were hot and quite good. Then came the noodle bowl. This is usually a dish I love but this one is terrible. Broth has no flavour and you just fill up on a massive pile of noodles. Meat balls don't seem like meat - just a funny, rubbery texture. I would love to give 5 stars to the staff, who were so great - Cheerful, attentive, lovely. We had high hopes as there's not much in the neighborhood but unfortunately we were pretty disappointed. We had the lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl and it definitely was fresh but quite tasteless. The chicken was hard to eat as it was just dry and tasteless. All the hoisin and hot sauce couldn't save it. Where were all the Vietnamese flavours? I want to taste the fish sauce and lemongrass and the cilantro and basil. Maybe it's not fair to give this place 2 stars since I've only been here once. I had the vermicelli dish and my friend got a rice dish. For the price I paid, I would have expected more meat and noodles to be in my dish. But unfortunately there wasn't. Also, using spring mix veggies for a vermicelli dish isn't cool at all. Please stick with the lettuce, carrots and cucumbers. The rice dish was alright. I haven't tried their broth dishes so can't say much about that. read more

Although Le Pho has a great selection of Vietnamese food, the service quality and quantity of the food is disappointing and frankly quite frustrating. When asked to split a rare beef pho with a friend of mine, I was disrespected and told I would "Have to spend at least $7 at the restaurant" although my friend and I also wanted a bubble tea which would add up to more than 7$. I didn't argue although quite unpleased with the service. My friend and I both ordered a rare beef pho and when we got it the bowl was barely half full! The servers didn't check up on the food or ever refill drinks and I was left unpleased although the food was good. 13$ for such a small bowl and was stereotyped to be cheap. read more
