This pho place was recommended by my wife. Since we are in the area, we decided to have the lunch here. She has good experience with them. But her revisit show that they are not improving and actually feel they take a step back. We got the skirt steak rice dish. The steak is not soft and tender. The sauce is good. At least this dish is good. The second dish is the tan special pho. The pho base is a bit American taste. The meat is quantity is average less. Came here because of the high rating but the food was so bad. I ordered shrimp fried rice--a safe, easy option usually--but the rice was undercooked and dry and the shrimp were overcooked, tiny little balls of leather of sadness. My mom got a steak with rice dish and the steak was thin, cold, and dry. Maybe the pho itself is how they have a high rating so if you're going for pho only don't mind me. However, if you're going there hoping to have a decent rice-based dish I would maybe consider not doing that. The ambiance itself is quite dull and run down in a way that makes you think the food is either gonna buss down or be totally terrible and unfortunately for me, it was the latter. You'd never expect much from them just passing by, but that's exactly where the mistake is made! Their food is pretty simple, but they do it well. I love pho and they make it how it should be (in my opinion). I usually get a simple chicken or shrimp pho, and it's loaded with carrots, broccoli, snap peas and other veggies along with the protein. So not only is the meal delicious, but it's soo healthy too! The steamed dumplings and spring rolls are on par too, and I am just so happy to have this little place nearby to frequent. The physical location is definitely lacking in luster, but I haven't had better pho in Lakeland than theirs. Ordering to go from here is my go-to when that vietnamese craving hits. The grilled chicken spring rolls are fresh, crisp, and quite delicious. Make sure to ask for chili paste to pair with them, in addition to the peanut sauce. The pho is rich in collagen and flavor. They could throw in a bit more cilantro and white onion, but they didn't skimp on the bean sprouts, jalapeños or limes. Everyone was eating beef pho around me and there's plenty of "oooo this is so gooooood" comments flying around. I wished I got pho but instead, I was surprised to see beef stew pho on the menu and decided to give it a go. This is my "go-to" pho option when I used to live in a city with a Vietnamese-town. It took about 30 minutes for the beef stew to arrive and then I was disappointed to hear that the typical beansprouts, basil and lime would be an extra charge from the waitress. Also, the carrots were not stewed with the beef stew but instead, crunchy and sliced on top. The soup was also bland and tasted watered down... so I ended eating the whole bowl dunking it in hoisin sauce and siracha. I was really hoping for the traditional version. So the location may not be the best. The decor may not be all to appealing. HOWEVER, hands down the best pho in Lakeland. Ive visited all the pho spots in Lakeland to compare and this spot serves the best bowl of pho. I did the well done brisket bowl and I knew off first glance my broth was BROTHY. It does now lack in flavor not one bit. The service was good. very friendly staff members. This is hands down one of my favorite Pho places I've ever been to. I don't live in Lakeland but I would pay good money to have their food shipped to me. First we got the crab rangoons and WOW. These were hands down the most delicious crab rangoons ever and I've been on the hunt for ones that taste this good in my town. These aren't your average crab and cream cheese ones. They had garlic, water chestnuts, garlic and peppers and magic inside. The pho was fantastic and giant serving size. I made two meals out of it. I was battling what would become the cold from hell so I wanted something filling but soothing at the same time and this place has a lot of reviews so I said why not?! Plus they were 7 minutes from my air BNB so it was a win win. I called and they were very kind on the phone explaining the different types of pho and appetizers. I opted for a chicken pho and some egg rolls bc ya girl wanted something fried. I pull up and yes it looks quite sketch outside at night but I just KNEW the food would be bussin! It was clean inside too but I didn't use the restroom so I can't speak on that. Anyway, grab my food, pay and head home. The pho was phenomenal! I was down in Lakeland visiting family and had a strong craving for something new. The oracles of Yelp led me to Pho Tan located right off of Combee Road. Coming from the DC Metro area, I have a good familiarity with the types of dishes that would be served in an establishment such as this one. Upon entering the shop you are treated to the aromas of grilled meats and scents of a good simmering Pho broth. The view of the dining area is no different that any other Pho shop, it has plenty of seating and the atmosphere is quiet. Reviewing the menu there were some staples that I knew I had to try out. Pho đac biet, Bánh mì ch lua, cha giò, and a cà phê sua đá were definitely within my future. I placed the order with a very friendly waitress who made sure to repeat my order back to me to make sure it was just right. Within a few moments she came back with the cà phê sua đá which was happily brewing in the mini French press. Soon thereafter came the Pho đac biet with a side plate of the usual toppings, bean sprouts, thai basil, jalapeño peppers, and slices of lime. A quick taste of the broth to see if it needed any correction in seasonings and can I just say, it was perfect, no additional alterations needed! Speaking to my server, she indicated that the owner takes time and care to prepare the broth which takes hours to get right, and it shows. The broth is rich with the right combination of spices just in the aroma itself, but when you take that first sip, you will be happily satisfied. The Bánh Mi Cha Lua was good, it had the liver pate and the Maggi seasoning typical for this sandwich along with the cilantro and pickled vegetables that gave it a refreshing taste. The bread is the one thing that I was no used to, coming from the DC area and the Bánh Mi DC shop is a touch comparo since they bake their baguettes in house. What is good though is that there is even a place here in Lakeland that serves a close representation in flavors of a proper Bánh Mi sandwich. The Cha Gio is the usual fare and came with the side of pickled vegetables as well as the Nuoc mam dipping sauce. It was served hot and fresh which is exactly how I like them. Overall I am pleased with the food that you can get at this local haunt, the one star is for the baguette, but since this is not a bakery, they did really well with the Bánh Mi. Highly recommended for those looking for authentic Vietnamese food in the Lakeland area. read more

This is a nice supplement to my regular Vietnamese spot in Tampa Saigon Deli. We ordered the Pho Special, Beef Vermicelli #45 on the menu, Thai Tea w Boba and Iced Vietnamese Coffee w Condensed Milk. The Pho was a 4.5/5. The broth was well seasoned and the portion was large. It was overpriced in comparison to other places. Beef Vermicelli was a 4.5/5. Everything was great especially how the meat was cooked and seasoned. The sauce was also good. Thai Tea w Boba was a 3/5. The boba was actually pretty hard and I had a powdery texture on the inside but otherwise tasted good. Iced Vietnamese Coffee w Condensed Milk was a 5/5. Nice and strong like I like it.
