#12 - Bún bò Hué Soup (Spicy beef broth with beef shank)
    TK L.

One of the best, if not THE best bowl of pho I ever had. Walking into the place, with Foodora sticker on the door, lady who speaks excellent English & French, Britney Spears playing on the jukebox, and under 10 reviews on Yelp in a neighborhood not particular known for asian food, all I could do was to keep an open mind. Hey don't judge the book by its cover. I got the #12 - Bún bò Hué Soup (Spicy beef broth with beef shank) and flavour-wise it was surprisingly well-balanced - spicy, sweet, rich, with a hint of ginger and coriander. The onion tasted fresh. The meat was abundant. And my favorite part, the homemade spicy chili oil, was out of this world compared to the generic stuff you sometimes find in chinese/vietnamese restaurants. I almost finished the soup heh Impressed. This block (St-Laurent & Rachel) is really happening.

Ordered takeout from this place. I tried the spring roll, imperial rolls and the bun bo hue. The rolls were pretty good and fresh and the imperial rolls were very crispy. The bun bo hue was slightly spicy and had quite a few slices of beef. The only downside of my orders is that I feel so thirsty after, even after drinking several glasses of water. Otherwise, the food is pretty good.

Had the pleasure of eating at Pho Rachel multiple times since July of this year. Their beef pho is delicious, one of my favorites in Montreal. Their spring and imperial rolls are super yummy too. I also love their grilled meat dishes. Pretty busy spot during weekday lunch, otherwise quiet. Very casual restaurant, one of the only authentic Vietnamese restaurants in the Plateau. Great soup and fast service :( Nice place, not too noisy. Take a medium size soup, it's already sufficient as a meal :)

Bun bo hue, spicy but worth it

Amazing food, delicious, and fresh. We were on our honeymoon in Montreal, this place was top 3, easily.

I've tried a few of their soups, and they're always delicious. Service is very nice as well, and prices are decent.

This was a pretty large and clean restaurant located in a large plaza with plenty of parking. They had lots of tables and also a pretty robust takeout service. It was very family friendly and they accommodated our large group with attentive service. They had lots of good options on the menu and the pho dac biet was pretty decent.

Bun Bo Hue - 10/10 Super flavorful broth and a perfect super mild spicy! I personally don't like all the pork feet and bones in my noodle soup but authentically I think it should come with it and other people prefer it. But I liked that it only came with the regular viet ham and beef bc I don't like the other things. #44 Pork Chop Rice Plate - 10/10 It may look small on camera but this portion was HUGE. Lots of rice! But the pork chop was decent regular size. Pork chop was perfectly marinated and I love the glaze that comes with it. Cooked perfectly as well not too dry and not tough. Also the fried egg was perfect! A little soft fried sunny side egg yolk! Overall I loved all elements of this place and I had so much rice left over but I was FULL for the whole day. Banh Xeo - 10/10 HUGE portion as well! It's super stuffed with lots of filling and the crepe was cooked soft and crispy! I like this style of appetizer because it's super hands on and you get to wrap it like a little roll. Super fun and yummy appetizer! ALSO pleaseee try the sugar cane drink! It's so refreshing and it's real authentic sugar cane and it literally soothes your soul. The ambience was super welcoming and the restaurant was super big and spacious. Overall, I liked every single dish and everything was super flavorful and made me feel good eating it! Best bun Bo hue I had!

Whatever it was Pho Saigon Viet-Nam served me up the best Satay Beef Pho I ever tasted. I started my lunch meal with spring rolls ($5,00). They were good but not the best spring rolls I ever had. The roll I thought was a bit chewy. Next came the Satay Beef ($12) which totally flavored the Pho. It was the best Pho I ever had but mind you I am no expert. They have a strange business model in that a small bowl is $11 and a large bowl is $12. It came out piping hot. I had to let it sit, as well as, blow on the broth to cool it down. The staff was tri-lingual. Imagine that! The food came out quick. It seems a lot of locals dine here. The restaurant is located in Chinatown. The street entrance is below ground level. The restaurant is somewhat dated and upkeep could be improved. The food is a 5 STAR in my opinion.

The restaurant was relatively empty. Tabletops had a bit of a stench to it and the menus handed to us were sticky. Not one to judge a book by its cover and these conditions are fairly common in Chinatown. The menu was pretty extensive with all the common dishes. I really wanted some banh cuon or banh uot, but on a frigid night, I felt like some pho would hit the spot instead. The bun bo hue and banh canh were very enticing to me; those would've been great options on a cold night as well. Prices were reasonable ranging from 12-16$ based on size. We ordered a small and medium; instantly regretted not getting a bigger size though because I def could have eaten more. Broth was darker than normal. Nothing stood out about the broth, but it was pretty spice-forward and still very much hit the spot. They surprisingly loaded up on the meat; I've never had this much meat in my bowl of pho at any other restaurants. The noodles were also cooked perfectly! Realistically I probably wouldn't come back here as often if my other usual spots were open, but I'm especially grateful they were welcoming during holiday hours. I noticed that the banh xeo and some other dishes were cheaper than other places though, so maybe I'll return for that. CASH ONLY.
