But briefly, we got a spring roll (I think it was the sprimp and chicken), a chicken dish (I think we got the half chicken), a pho dish and the grilled chicken and shrimp with salad and vermicelli. The spring rolls were good. Very crunchy wrapping, mixed with a fusion of veges, protein and vermicelli. The half chicken was my least favorite dish. I think it's an acquired taste, but the meat was tough to chew and the sauce was a quite tart. Combining all the factors mentioned above, it was a bit difficult to eat. The pho was good. The soup brough was warm, hearty and filling. The noodles were good too - very soft and easy to eat. The vermicelli dish was also good. Very standard protein and vege vermicelli dish. The chicken was tender and shrimp was grilled to perfection. Not a bad choice for Vietnamese cuisine in Montreal.

The xá xíu (char siu pork) went along so well with the noodles and fried shrimp fritter and dried onions, not to mention what devil's seasoning is in the sauce I asked my mom about it, and she told me that it has Chinese influences and that the recipe is kept secret-no wonder I can't find it on the internet! It will knock your socks off. The bánh mì is very well done also; the baguette is buttery, crisp and flakey, the coriander as well as the fermented carrot and radish are packed in to make room for the delectable homemade tofu. Put some chilli peppers in there is you're not joking around. Absolutely scrumptious. Tran Cantine makes their very own proprietary in-house Vietnamese style tofu. Now, this is not your tasteless supermarket tofu. Not whatsoever. This tofu is homemade using a traditional method wherein the soybean is cured and fermented into thin strips that are layered, textured, wrapped in banana leaves and pressed.
