What is wrong with San Antonio people that they would rate this place with 4 stars? The food is not truly bad. We ordered a rice dish, dry noodle dish and some pho. All of it was a disaster. The meat for both the rice and noodle dish was so dry, chewy and flavorless, I stopped eating after the 2nd bite. The fish sauce for both dishes were also terrible, which is horrifying because it's the only condiment for a vietnamese restaurant. The meat was chewy because they microwaved it. It was flavorless because the marinade was not done properly. The Pho was a nightmare too because the broth was like water with MSG and the noodles was a hot mess in one big clump. If your signature product is a hot mess, you should maybe call the restaurant something else other than PHO xx. I was visiting town and desperate for Vietnamese food. I followed other Yelpers and regretted my decision the second I ate the food. I know this is a family restaurant but they also represent the culture and food from Vietnam. There is never a good enough reason to feed anyone this bad food. No self respecting Vietnamese would eat what they made and find it remotely ok anywhere in the US. read more

If you're in the neighborhood and desiring Vietnamese food, this joint will certainly be adequate. The prices seem reasonable particularly for the pho, however less so for the non-soup options. We started off with the fresh, not fried, summer rolls. While tasty, they did contain something that was extremely bitter and unpleasant. The peanut sauce is served warm and was quite tasty. My wife got the shrimp pho. We added vegetables for an extra $1.50. The extra vegetables included broccoli, carrots, and onion. The biggest issue with the extra vegetables, other than charging your for vegetables, is that they were undercooked. The carrot, for example, was crunchy as if they just cut it. The soup was tasty and flavorful. The portion of noodles was large, and cooked very well - not too soft, not too hard. I got the grilled pork with egg roll and rice. The pork was tasty but the portion size I thought was quite small for the price. The egg rolls were crispy and tasty. Overall, a decent dining experience although they could do better on a few things as previously mentioned. Again, if you're in the neighborhood, go for it. This is our go to location for Phó. It's close to where we live, we've always gotten great service, clean tables and we never wait too long for our food. The crispy egg rolls and the coconut boba tea are my favorite sides to order! I love their shrimp or chicken vermicelli bowls, I get either one, every time! It can get busy during normal "rush times" so avoid it if you're in a rush or not a patient person. Beyond amazing!! As an asian girl from Orange County, CA with high standards for pho and boba, this place is top notch!! Although no culantro for veggies, very generous on basil, bean sprouts, limes, and jalapenos. Delicious broth and very generous on meat portions! Even my husband who is still embarking on the pho experience ate mostly everything but couldnt finish all his beef. This place is family friendly and kid friendly. My friends brought their 1.5 year old baby that was spilling pho soup everywhere. We used up all of the napkins and they were very nice about it. My boyfriend got a pork rice dish. He said it was tasty, but the quality of meat could be better. I ordered the Pho Tai. Pho with rare beef. The pho broth was tasty with plenty of fresh been sprouts and basil at the table. We all ended out meal having Mango smoothies. Ok. So supposedly this place is great but they arr going to lose 2 stars right out of the gate due to customer service: 1. The woman who greeted me lied about having wifi. There is a aticker prominently displayed advertising wifi. I asked if I could use it and she saidbit was not working. When I checked available wifi it was there and very strong. If they ate not going to allow customers to use it they should take the sticker/sign off. 2. I needed to do a little work while eating lunch this particular day. She said sir wherever I like but then asked how long I was going to stay and if it would be for like 1 or 2 hours. If so she wanted me to sit at one of those really small tables that have two chairs but you can barely fit two meals on. Mind you, there was noone there! It was 10:45 am. I've tried Pho Tai(eye round), Pho Tai bo vien(eye round with meatballs), and Pho dac biet(combination of eye round, meatballs, tendon, tripe, and brisket. The broth was packed with flavor and reminded me of home. I came here at least once a week until one day, the recipe changed. I'm not sure what happened but one day I came in and it was bland and had no real flavor to it. I spoke with the owner to ask what happened and was told they had a new menu and new chef... :-/ Upon my request, I returned 3 weeks later and the recipe was changed again and tasted more like homemade pho but was never the same. I love eating here. The place is clean. Each table has it's own station for chopsticks, soup spoon, forks and condiments. The service is great. The menu is easy to read with pictures of favorites. My only complaint is the room temperature. I feel like it's hot most of the time. I've been twice and both times I sat in different locations and still felt uncomfortable. Delicious and Fresh Just stumbled upon this little cafe/ restaurant by accident. Prices are reasonable and the food is good! I didn't get the Pho but another table did and they were singing it's praises. I had the Chicken shrimp and spring-roll vermicelli bowl ( Bun) and it was really tasty. Lots of cucumber, sprouts etc. as well as a good amount of thinly sliced grilled chicken. The shrimp were actually battered and fried but otherwise went well with a little fish-sauce or Hosein (?) sauce to dip in.
