    Beef Combo

4 stars from wife; 5 stars from daughter. Wife's beef combo broth was delicious. Fatter noodles were unusual for her and the beef was sliced too thickly. Had to ask for Hoisin Sauce. The egg rolls were excellent. My daughter's pork rice bowl (not pictured) was "amazing." She said she would like to fly back just for that rice bowl.

Very good food,we will come again next time . The taste is quite authentic, and the service is good! It is located in a convenient Mall. Can't be a better choice if you really like Vietnamese pho

Still have a wooden spoon and no option for a proper Chinese spoon. When you ask for one they think you are from Mars. I've attached an image of a spoon to help with procurement. Soup was like an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, i.e., oily. If you order the beef pho tai, expect to bring your own beef. I got one piece about the size of 1/2 of a post it note and almost as thin. See my find in then image....

I saw that Pho Saigon was nearby when I searched Yelp, and I'm so glad I decided (after walking…read morearound the block and back) to go in. I was offered a small bowl of homemade kimchi to go with my Tiger beer, which I was delighted by! I've wanted to try Kimchi for AGES! And it was so tasty :-) I ordered a king prawn pho. Flat noodles; halved prawns; fresh coriander, basil and mint; sliced red chilli and bean sprouts on the side which I added. I also asked if they could give it a bit of a kick to try and sink my blossoming cold and they kindly obliged. Not too hot, but enough to give it some warmth. Omnomnom! Gorgeous :-) I spoke to the owner afterwards and he said they were quite new. I would definitely be back if I'm in the area.

I had one of the soups with rice vermicelli, beef and vegetables. It was good but no matter what spiciness I added, the broth still seemed too bland for my preference. Same for my wife's rice vermicelli with mixed vegetables. The little bowl of pickled vegetables that was brought to the table were delicious. Just the right amount of spice and pickling. The restaurant is very clean, nicely decorated and it's front tables open to the sidewalk, with a couple of tables outside. Also the price was very reasonable. I'd like to give these nice people 4 stars for all the above, but the main entree failed to satisfy.

It was set about 15-min from the A6 but wow was it worth the detour! They have a massive menu with foods from all over east Asia. We decided to share a starter of salt & pepper short ribs. The husb opted for Singapore noodles (his favorite) and I was going to order spicy combination noodle soup but was recommended to try the Spicy Tom Yum Noodle Soup the was on the specials board. I love tom yum so it was a no-brainer to take the recommendation. The short ribs were delicious. Perfectly fried so they were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and they were covered in a delectable salt, pepper, garlic, and onion topping. (chef's kiss) The Singapore Noodles were a healthy portion and OMG the meat was SO TENDER. Sorry for yelling, but I needed to make sure everyone understood. Sometimes meat can be overcooked slightly and a little chewy, but they have perfected the art of meat here! The Spicy Tom Yum Noodle Soup was brimming with ingredients and was massive! The combination is their house mix of meats and seafood. Again, the meat was INCREDIBLY TENDER! The seafood was plentiful and also cooked to perfection. I was able to stop myself from stuffing it all into my face so I could wrap up a third of it for future me. I found both dishes to be decently spicy and the server let me know that both were level 1 spicy so I'll definitely kick it up a notch next time I'm back. I think the husb will happily stay at level 1 . The chefs come from Hong Kong and we gave our compliments to the chef over the short wall separating the kitchen from the dining area. This place is now a must-stop for us when we drive from London to the North and it should be for you too!

Asian fusion? Chinese crossed with Japanese and a side of vietnamese?…read more It's a bit hard to pin point the exact origins making up Wofon, but that's what makes it such an exciting treat. There are three steps when ordering -- choosing your noodles (or rice), topping and sauce. Noodles vary from the traditional Japanese ramen (wheat noodles), Udon (thicker wheat noodles), or perhaps a classic Chiense Dan Meen (egg wheat noodles). The toppings selection varies with Wofon special (selection of meats, prawn, roast pork), mixed seafood, or roast duck, for example. And lastly, the sauces. Selection can be Chinese Szechuan spicy, curry, or Japanese teriyaki. What I love about Wofon (aside from their amazing cheap prices) is that there is such a plethora of selection choices. You can order soup noodles one day, mixing noodles another, mixing rice, or wok fried rice. The selections are completely endless! I also strongly recommend the spare ribs with barbecued sauce as a starter. And the banana with vanilla ice cream as a dessert. And for £2.50, you can't beat the price. Enjoy!

This is a little gem in Leyton. What makes this Vietnamese restaurant stand outs, is that it has a slightly different added menu, it still makes the traditional food, but stuffed chicken wings? Saying that, the traditional dishes were just as splendid, full of mouth watering flavours, combining with the freshness and texture when taking that first bite. And there was no skimping on the portion sizes. I left that restaurant quite full. The venue itself was spacious and open. really cool modern and simple decorating, but it works. Even when the restaurant was full, still did not feel crowded, quite the opposite, relax with a buzz vibe. That was also due to the part of the waiters, who were very friendly, attentive, and on point. They have some really good lunch offers at the moment, so that really helps, but generally the cost is quite decent and value for money, comparing to other Vietnamese restaurants. Other than parking and its awkward location, one way narrow road, I would say this is a good place to eat.

It seems a shame to rate this place so harshly, given how excellent the food actually was. It's…read morejust to appreciate good food you've got to be served it in the first place. Huong Que certainly gains no marks for effort in the decor stakes - we wondered whether the large plastic plants had been bought in specially, or if they'd been recovered from the skip following the refurb. They certainly haven't tried to go down the pretentious route here. A point of potential comedy/disaster was watching people slip on the wet flooring as they entered the restaurant. Plumping for a surface that becomes nearly frictionless when water is introduced seems an optimistic gambit in England, at best. The menu, on cheerfully laminated A4 inkjet printed paper, listed a selection of appealing sounding dishes marked as Entrees and Mains, yet all priced more or less identically. The 5 of us made our selections, and watched as a waiter brought 3 bowls of Pho down the steps from the kitchen and managed to tip one all over the steps and himself, as the others stood looking on uncertain of what to do. The yellow "wet floor" bollard was deployed eventually. My starter of cold rolls with prawn & pork was delivered in great time, but the waiter seemed unsure as to whether the spring rolls he had were for us, and disappeared with them. A few minutes later, Martin's fried prawns arrived. A few minutes later they collected my dish, then brought out Simon's starter. About 15 minutes later Liz's main course arrived, and we pointed out that we were still waiting for 2 starters. The waiter's confused reaction was bettered only by his response: "Maybe they will be here soon?". The other 4 main courses we'd ordered were there fairly soon, but there was no sign of the starters. Nor did we see any evidence of the 6th main course we'd ordered to share. At 9:15 the waiter came over - as it turned out, not to apologise for our food going missing - to tell us that another party had booked our table for 8:30 and had been waiting some time, and effectively said we had to leave. We pointed out the missing items from our bill, and he seemed surprised that they hadn't arrived (odd, as it was him who we'd told previously), and generously adjusted the bill and volunteered to forego the service charge. All a bit of a chronic shame really - my grilled pork noodle & spring roll dish was a tasty, filling, excellent example of Vietnamese cuisine, and most of the others seemed to enjoy theirs too. If this place can tighten up on their service, they should be able to keep it ticking over very nicely indeed. If not, it'll leave me wondering whether "Huong Que" is some sort of Vietnamese tribute to London's "Wong Kei". Although in fairness, they're not inept - just purposefully rude.

Quite typical of other Vietnamese places I've been to elsewhere. Sometimes language is a problem as many of the waiting staff have limited English skills, but any mistakes are profusely apologised for and is corrected. Its certainly somewhere to go on a low budget and I've gone there for mine and others birthdays meals. They seem to be able to cater for large parties with no issues. I never hesitate to take friends who are visiting Bristol, to visit here. Parking is often easy during the evening and I've always had a pleasant and fun evening out. The toilets are kept clean and tidy and the general eating area, although not overly luxurious, certainly is suitable for what the place offers.

We weren't informed of out of stocks until we ordered, I definitely think it's a fair expectation to know of shortages before we read the menu. In the end, we shared fried squid, Viet spring rolls, betal leaf-wrapped beef and summer rolls. The squid was very good, the spring rolls were bland, the beef was not served with the garnishes I've experienced in other restaurants (vermilcelli, mixed herbs, leaves and crushed nuts) but tasted ok. The summer rolls were as boring as they always are and all portions were small. Mains, we tried the shakin' beef, prawn and tofu curries, BBQ pork special, caramel pork belly and the pancake. The curries were clearly the same base with the prawns or tofu added for serving and nothing exciting at all. The BBQ pork was very dry and hadn't had enough marination time. The pancake was good large portion, stuffed with spring onions, onions, prawns and pork with lettuce and herbs in the side with a good dip on the side. We ordered Vietnamese iced coffees to finish and they took forever to come. Overall, service was friendly and well-meant but on the slow side and not all the food was at an acceptable level. Overall, I would say it's a mixed bag but if you order squid then pancake, you will do just fine!!
