This is a little gem in Leyton. What makes this Vietnamese restaurant stand outs, is that it has a slightly different added menu, it still makes the traditional food, but stuffed chicken wings? Saying that, the traditional dishes were just as splendid, full of mouth watering flavours, combining with the freshness and texture when taking that first bite. And there was no skimping on the portion sizes. I left that restaurant quite full. The venue itself was spacious and open. really cool modern and simple decorating, but it works. Even when the restaurant was full, still did not feel crowded, quite the opposite, relax with a buzz vibe. That was also due to the part of the waiters, who were very friendly, attentive, and on point. They have some really good lunch offers at the moment, so that really helps, but generally the cost is quite decent and value for money, comparing to other Vietnamese restaurants. Other than parking and its awkward location, one way narrow road, I would say this is a good place to eat.

It was set about 15-min from the A6 but wow was it worth the detour! They have a massive menu with foods from all over east Asia. We decided to share a starter of salt & pepper short ribs. The husb opted for Singapore noodles (his favorite) and I was going to order spicy combination noodle soup but was recommended to try the Spicy Tom Yum Noodle Soup the was on the specials board. I love tom yum so it was a no-brainer to take the recommendation. The short ribs were delicious. Perfectly fried so they were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and they were covered in a delectable salt, pepper, garlic, and onion topping. (chef's kiss) The Singapore Noodles were a healthy portion and OMG the meat was SO TENDER. Sorry for yelling, but I needed to make sure everyone understood. Sometimes meat can be overcooked slightly and a little chewy, but they have perfected the art of meat here! The Spicy Tom Yum Noodle Soup was brimming with ingredients and was massive! The combination is their house mix of meats and seafood. Again, the meat was INCREDIBLY TENDER! The seafood was plentiful and also cooked to perfection. I was able to stop myself from stuffing it all into my face so I could wrap up a third of it for future me. I found both dishes to be decently spicy and the server let me know that both were level 1 spicy so I'll definitely kick it up a notch next time I'm back. I think the husb will happily stay at level 1 . The chefs come from Hong Kong and we gave our compliments to the chef over the short wall separating the kitchen from the dining area. This place is now a must-stop for us when we drive from London to the North and it should be for you too!

Asian fusion? Chinese crossed with Japanese and a side of vietnamese?…read more It's a bit hard to pin point the exact origins making up Wofon, but that's what makes it such an exciting treat. There are three steps when ordering -- choosing your noodles (or rice), topping and sauce. Noodles vary from the traditional Japanese ramen (wheat noodles), Udon (thicker wheat noodles), or perhaps a classic Chiense Dan Meen (egg wheat noodles). The toppings selection varies with Wofon special (selection of meats, prawn, roast pork), mixed seafood, or roast duck, for example. And lastly, the sauces. Selection can be Chinese Szechuan spicy, curry, or Japanese teriyaki. What I love about Wofon (aside from their amazing cheap prices) is that there is such a plethora of selection choices. You can order soup noodles one day, mixing noodles another, mixing rice, or wok fried rice. The selections are completely endless! I also strongly recommend the spare ribs with barbecued sauce as a starter. And the banana with vanilla ice cream as a dessert. And for £2.50, you can't beat the price. Enjoy!

Firstly, we want to say thank you for checking in on our food and being so responsive to our allergy concerns. That care was genuinely appreciated and gave us confidence in what we were eating. However, the experience fell short in how our family was treated--particularly as parents of a neurodiverse toddler. Understandably, our little one was tired and hungry when we arrived. While waiting for food, he became overstimulated and struggled to stay calm, eventually settling with a game that helped him regulate--though it did cause him to vocalize loudly in excitement. We were actively trying to manage this, including removing the crayons and activities when they became unhelpful. A supervisor then approached us and said other guests were complaining, asking whether we could "keep him quiet or go outside." While we understand the need to be mindful of other diners, the way this was said felt more like an ultimatum than a compassionate check-in. In that moment, we needed support, not pressure. What made it worse was overhearing a staff member say to a couple who had just been seated near us, "Let us know if you want to move at any point." This clearly implied our child was a problem. To their credit, the couple themselves questioned why they'd need to move--highlighting that the issue wasn't as disruptive as it was made out to be. Still, overhearing this exchange without any attempt by staff to reassure or support us left us feeling judged and unwelcome. We truly understand the challenge of balancing a calm environment for all diners, but families--especially those with neurodiverse children--need more understanding, not subtle exclusion. These situations require empathy and discretion, not public discomfort. Again, thank you for your excellent attention to food allergies. That part of the service was handled with care and professionalism. We hope this feedback encourages greater awareness and inclusive training for staff so that families can feel just as welcomed as anyone else.

But sweet location and fancy presentation comes with a price - £8.50 for a pho bo that's slim on good beef, £11+ for duck curries. And where were the other pho and soup options? No Hue crepes? It was a slim menu with tempting descriptions but few real stand outs. The pho passed the test (just) and so did the (Thai-ish) duck curry. The Hanoi beer was delish and so was the red bean dessert. If you feel brave they do durian ice cream too. I was feeling wimpy. No, not the burger chain. Typical of so many places in England... high prices for okayish exotic food served in outstanding beautiful locations. Pho cures all. Pho realz…read more It's a little bit out of the way for me considering that I usually hit up the city centre for things to nosh on. But when I found out that there was a proper Vietnamese restaurant in Birmingham, I couldn't pass it up. Even though hubs and I took the longer way to get there, I was so glad we did. (Well I was, if you read my profile, one of my favorite foods is pho. Some people can understand and appreciate the healing properties that this simple soup has; some people may just see it as a bunch of noodles with broth and a few pieces of meat. But the broth is seriously, like, elixir for me). First thing I noticed was that it was empty inside, but that was OK for me. There was a couple who had just finished their meals when we came in and paid their tab. The restaurant was very clean and so was the restroom. I opted for summer rolls and pho tai (pho w/brisket) while hubster chose chicken pho. Usually at a Vietnamese restaurant, he has a vermicelli bowl/broken rice with meat, so I don't know what made him go for pho this time. Whether he paid attention at all to what he ordered was another question. And when the bowls arrived at our table, all I could do was stare. (Not having had pho since December when I went back home to SD has been difficult). My inner self had the biggest cheeseburger grin once the scent of the broth hit my nostrils. The broth was a decent balance of anise and saltiness, and it wasn't too cloudy or dark either. Brisket was done nicely also. The spring rolls were nice and light also. This is real comfort food, I thought. More people need to experience it. I wasn't too fond of the wider noodles used in the pho, so I hope this gets corrected soon. But I think I've found my go-to spot when I need a pick-me-up, and I hope other people wanting Vietnamese food will appreciate it too.

It's a bit out of the way unless you're visiting the big Tesco store or the Spring Hill library, so you may have to put in a bit of effort to get there, but especially for groups it's probably worth it. Prices are very decent across the board with most mains well under £10. That means you can share several dishes amongst friends without breaking the bank. And that's probably the best way to experience the options here if you're as unfamiliar as I am. I've been twice and have to say I was much more impressed first time around. I made different choices for my order, was a chicken/rice combo of some kind, and just preferred it. This second time I had a chef special, which are sometimes not the best choice I find, of chargrilled chicken with rice. There is a lot on the plate, enough for two, but it was remarkably bland and certainly not 'special'. Don't get me wrong, it was nice enough, but the white rice just didn't do much while the chicken lacked flavour and punch. The iced lemonade was really good, a tad sweet maybe, but I could have gulped down a couple of those on what was a warm day. Desert was a tasty mix of banana, coconut milk and toasted peanuts. Worked out around £12 all in, so no complaints there. The service was good though a bit distracted, with the lady spending more time in the kitchen than out front. But I wasn't in any specific rush. Had I been in a lunchtime spin and needed fast service I may have felt different!

Having never tried Vietnamese food before, but having heard many good things about it, I gave it a go. Delicious! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, service was fast and the food was lovely. Unable to decide what I wanted, I had "Pho Dac Biet - Tiger prawns, chicken & flash fried steak with garlic in beef stock" so I got a bit of everything, the flavours were well balanced and there were sauces an oils available to personalise my food to my personal taste. My only criticism of Pho is that the as the restaurant is small, the tables are all very pushed in together, so I was very close to those around me. It's understandable that it will be a noisy environment being in the middle of New Street, but perhaps a slightly larger gap between each table will allow guests not to feel so enclosed in such a busy environment. Overall, very happy and will definitely eat Pho again!
