A pretty disappointing experience. We waited almost 5 minutes to be seated, not because it was busy just because the staff stand behind the bar and can't see the entrance. Luckily the decor was interesting enough to keep us, although that was the first warning.
We had two cocktails, possibly the first that had ever been served there...certainly the first the waitress had ever made.
The starter was some very peppery and over-cooked prawn crackers accompanied with a pretty average satay which arrived suspiciously less than 2 minutes after ordering.
Main was possibly the worst weeping tiger (sliced steak and fragrant dip) I have had, the quality of meat was so low even the memory of the smell still makes me want to hurl. The experience was slightly saved by the duck in Grand Mariner which gained them a star.
Some of the waitresses were trying really hard, I think the service issues (slow, forgetting drinks, plates etc.) were the fault of more senior front of house who seemed preoccupied with micro-managing already competent subordinates rather than leading by example.
Needless to say, this is not a good example of Thai cooking for this lovely little town. read more
