It was still satisfying. We tried their bun rieu for the very first time. We haven't really had good bun rieu in GTA, but I was pleasantly surprised by how flavourful the broth is. There is also a lot of toppings. I was very pleased. The service is quick. The restaurant is a little cramp and always very busy, but still comfortable to dine in. P.S. they dont have high chair but they do offer booster seats.

They are going hi tech with a QR code scanning, or an iPad Mini, but that's just the menu; you get a check that you write in the menu number and quantity. The egg rolls was a bit of a let down, and it was too dry (appeared it was pre-fried, and when you order it they throw it back in the fryer to reheat). The Pho was flavorful but they overlooked our request for the beef on the side. They do offer traditional Vietnamese dinner, but it can be a hit or miss (their sour soup was a hit but their Beef Cubes on Iron Platter wasn't our favorite). Similar to other place, it's noisy, bustling with people and not a place where you want for a romantic date.

The…read morerestaurant is not very visible on Upper James (big road), so unless people told you about it, you probably won't go in. They recently renovated a bit so things look more modern. The Good: 1. Unlike most Pho places I've been to, they give generous toppings and not just noodle. You can switch rice noodle to egg noodle, clear noodle and even udon (they call it Thick White noodle). 2. Great taste!! Their French beefy stew is the bomb and so is Hot and Sour flavor with chicken. 3. If you like dry noodle Vermicelli, they have the best IMO. For only $9.50 or $10.25, you can get VERY yummy Grilled Pork/Spring Roll and Vietnamese style Grilled Sausage or Tiger Prawn. Very good portion too. I've been there many times. Next time I am going to try one of their Pork Chop rice dishes. They seem popular! The Bad: I really like vietnamese style Iced Coffee but I find the price is a bit high for that nowadays so I never order from there. :( Overall, this is definitely one of the best Pho places I have been. Great price, portion and it tastes authentic enough. I am from Taiwan.

A fun meal overall, just needs a little more pep in the service step!

We found a cafe right across the road of this Vietnamese restaurant. But we didn't like the sandwiches or cold food at the moment, so beef noodle soup was attracted us. The restaurant was busy. And we order the fried wontons as well. Fried wontons came so fast, we were trying to wait for the noodles soup. They were both so good. I especially like the leaves and bean sprouts. Then added some sweet sauce and hot sauce. Love these!

From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside it's quite inviting - there is a big fish tank! I had a classic vermicelli bowl with pork, spring roll and beef wrapped in green leaves. The pork was hot off the grill with a strong charbroiled taste. The beef in green leaves is something I have never had before and I found it to be a tasty little flavor addition to the meal. Spring roll was hot and crispy and also very good. The bowl had a good portion of herbs that makes for that fresh taste the is so much a part of Vietnamese food. My traveling companion had a spicy satay noodle soup with beef, which I had a few bites of and it was delicious. We are always looking for satay soup at Vietnamese places but it is sometimes hard to find. We were excited that Pho Lac Vien has such a great version of it. I really wanted to come back the next day and have one of those, but we were just passing through and will have to wait for the next time we are in Hamilton. We treated ourselves to Vietnamese coffees with condensed milk and ice - a perfect compliment to our food. All in all, a memorable meal and with very freindly service to round it all out.

I went to Golden Turtle several years ago and remember enjoying the food so I decided to go here with my boyfriend a few weeks ago. The dining area was very spacious and there weren't a lot of people when we went that Thursday afternoon. The server greeted us and took our orders very quickly, which we loved because we always pretty much order the same things at Vietnamese restaurants. Similarly, they made our orders really fast, which we were pleased with. I got my usual chicken and pork on rice. My boyfriend got chicken and sugarcane shrimp on vermicelli. My dish was good. The chicken and pork was well-cooked and tasted great. My boyfriend let me have some of his sugarcane shrimp and it was quite nice too. Overall, it was pretty standard. Location-wise, it's near TNT and several drink places, so you can have dinner then walk around the supermarket and maybe get something to drink. I would come back here just for how fast the service is.

I chose this place because I got a DoorDash pass trial and it was one of the few places covered by the Dashpass and I'm so glad I did. We ordered BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Shanghai Fried Rice and Chicken Pad Thai. I have to start off with the quantity of protein for the price. It's kind of crazy. In each of the dishes, there's a really great amount of protein. The Pad Thai is amazing. This is the type of pad thai you'd find in a fine dining thai restaurant, $17 minimum imo. For the protein and complexity flavour, it's not something I expected to find in a little pho joint. It's a bit spicy, tiny hint of sweetness but it has an umami delicious flavour that ties it together. I'm guessing shrimp paste somewhere in there. It's perfect. The Shanghai Fried Rice was also fantastic, not spicy like I had expected. But a really great flavour. Perfectly salted and delicious. I ate it all pretty quickly to be honest, so I can't fully remember the flavours. The BBQ Pork Fried Rice is also delicious. Closer to your average, but for once it's actually seasoned properly, I only got a spoonful, but my wife enjoyed it a lot. Foodie friends, check this place out. Especially the pad thai. [[Lastly I wanted to add, I'm very sensitive to MSG. I had no issues eating this.]]

**Covid takeout review - April 2021**…read more After a year of not having pho, I finally caved in and ordered takeout. Pho is usually a sit-down, dine-in experience with the large soupy bowl of noodles, so I was hesitant on ordering takeout. To my surprise, my at-home pho experience was amazing! I order a large, house special pho and I think the portion is bigger than if I dined in (how is that even possible?). For $11, there was enough food for my dinner and next day's lunch. The noodles, meatballs, tripe, beef tendons, basil leaves and bean sprouts came in a large square foam container, while the soup filled up an entire tall styrofoam container. The soup was flavourful, the food was cooked to order and I have since made it my once-a-week treat for myself. I've also order the vermicelli noodles with grilled chicken (or pork) which comes with 2 super crunchy and hot spring rolls (one vegetable, one pork). My husband enjoyed the fried rice (it's sweet and I think there's some fish sauce in it) with lemongrass grilled pork. I'm fortunate that Pho Ao Sen is just up the street from my place. It's given me something to look forward to every week during this gloomy lockdown.

They may not be your trendiest option, but in a market dominated by fancy Viet restaurants, PDB delivers delicious, no frills pho. I must say, though, that this location really blew me away, as their Bun Bo Hue was sooooooo much better than the version I get in my usual Scarborough location. The traditional pork knuckle is replaced by just as delicious slices of fatty pork and they have pickled chilies at the table. I usually have to ask for fresh chilies on the side, but I'm always happy to find these pickled beauties to add to my soup. My daughter's rare beef pho was also very good (according to her) and the obligatory deep fried spring rolls were crunch and savoury. I would not hesitate to revisit this location next time I am in the area!

My partner's pad Thai had flavour, but somehow, the chicken pieces were salty. My dish was good with variety of veggies and enough beef. Great portion. I noticed that their Sriracha bottle does not contain the real thing as I can tell the difference. The color was so much brighter!! I know that they are known for their noodle soup, so perhaps next time I'll try that. Overall, it's your typical Viet restaurant. Nothing to be wow about.
