I have never left a negative review, but after giving this place a second chance, I feel like this experience deserves to be shared. Unfortunately, the service was once again extremely disappointing. My mother politely asked for basil for our pho, which is a very normal condiment to expect with pho. The woman working immediately looked visibly irritated, shook her head, did not acknowledge my mother, and walked away frowning while mumbling something in Korean. It was unnecessarily rude and made us feel uncomfortable for simply asking for something that normally comes with the dish. There was also no one else in the restaurant so it wasn't like she was overwhelmed with request. The pho itself was also disappointing. The broth was bland yet overly salty and lacked the depth, richness, and aromatic flavor you normally expect from pho. The condiments also felt incomplete. For something as simple as asking for basil, the reaction we received made the whole experience even worse. On top of that, there were a lot of mosquitoes inside the restaurant. The woman working actually had a mosquito lamp near her own seat, so it was clearly a known issue, yet nothing seemed to be done to make the dining area more comfortable for customers. My mother and I both left with mosquito bites around our ankles. What makes this especially frustrating is that this was my second attempt at giving this place a chance. During my previous visit with my brother, we were essentially the only customers there, yet it took at least 10 minutes for someone to take our order. Our order was then incorrect, and we repeatedly had to get up ourselves to ask for items and corrections. We eventually decided to leave because of the service, and as we were leaving, the same woman flipped my brother and me off. That experience (4 years ago from this review) was shocking enough that I probably should not have returned, but I wanted to give the restaurant another chance /: Unfortunately, this second visit confirmed my original impression. I can overlook an imperfect meal, a mistake with an order, or even slower service. What I cannot overlook is repeatedly being treated rudely for making simple, reasonable requests. This place is clearly run by a Korean family. Right away, the older woman working here was very welcoming and incredibly sweet to my son which set a positive tone for our visit. The menu does offer Korean dishes but given the name of the place, we opted to stick with pho. In hindsight, that may not have been the best choice. The pho dish is being recreated by Koreans without fully capturing what makes pho special. Traditional pho broth is usually a slow simmered beef bone broth that's rich, aromatic and layered with flavor from spices like star anise, cloves, charred onions etc. The broth here was much more bland and seemed to rely heavily on fish sauce rather than that deep, comforting flavor pho is known for. Even the toppings felt incomplete. They didn't offer the usual herbs like mint or thai basil and just offered cilantro and bean sprouts. Honestly, the soup felt flat and lacked balance. The Pho House has to be one of my favorite spots whenever I'm in the mood for soup. The owner is the sweetest -- she is always so welcoming, kind, and genuinely friendly, which makes every visit feel special. I truly love supporting her and her business, and you can tell how much care goes into everything. The food is always amazing. Their combination fried rice is delicious, the beef brisket is so flavorful and tender, and the fried egg rolls are crispy and so good. I usually get a Thai tea as well, and it never disappoints. The beef spring rolls were pretty good. It had the fried crunchy brown onions and the meat tasted like ground taco meat. Very different, definitely not your traditional spring roll. The Pho unfortunately completely missed the mark! Starting with the aroma, smelled nothing like pho at all. I'm not sure what that was but it wasn't pho at all! Not sure what broth that was. Amazing food and service. I went last night and ordered to go. I ordered kimchi fried rice, vermicelli with beef and shrimp, and their appetizer trio. All of it was so good. The kimchi fried rice was flavorful without being spicy, the vermicelli bowl had very generous servings of everything, and everything in the appetizer trio was delicious. Yesterday marked the start of Lent for us Catholics. While visiting the town of Buena Park, my wife and I stumbled upon a little restaurant called Pho House. The service was fast, and the food was delicious. I mostly stuck with seafood when ordering. I didn't take many pictures, but the one I did take of this seafood pho already makes me want to go back. This is not Vietnamese food. I saw the stars and blindly trusted the rating without reading the reviews because it was late, and I needed to feed the kids before everything closed. It's nice that the restaurant closes late. I should've figured it out when I saw the pictures in Korean, but I thought they did that because we were in a huge Korean community. The other nice thing is that the kid's pho is really inexpensive: $3.99 for a bowl of pho noodles and clear broth, which didn't have a strong flavor. The oxtail pho had a lot of bone chips and the toppings were sparse, especially for how expensive it was. I thought they were clever by naming bun rieu Vietnamese champong, but it was actually more like dukbokki with pho noodles. It did have a lot of toppings and noodles, though. They also featured other dishes like naengmyun pho. I don't think I would've been so disappointed if it was more apparent that this wasn't traditional Vietnamese cuisine. And I was a bit upset when the kids looked up at the TV only to see a scene of two men violently trying to strangle each other. Thankfully, I was close enough to quickly cover their eyes. read more

This is some of the best pho I have had the woman working here is so sweet she even remembers my order and one time gave me a box of cookies her food is good the time takes like about 5 to 3 minutes and she will check up on you and you get free hot tea! I ordered a bowl of pho plain and a pork bahn mi sandwich. I know the ownership has not changed but it seems as if the quality has dropped off a bit. We used to pick up from here, since we live down the street. They used to keep the beef rare on the side but now they put it in while packing so it's not very tender when it gets home. The broth also doesn't seem as fresh anymore.
