This place is clearly run by a Korean family. Right away, the older woman working here was very welcoming and incredibly sweet to my son which set a positive tone for our visit. The menu does offer Korean dishes but given the name of the place, we opted to stick with pho. In hindsight, that may not have been the best choice. The pho dish is being recreated by Koreans without fully capturing what makes pho special. Traditional pho broth is usually a slow simmered beef bone broth that's rich, aromatic and layered with flavor from spices like star anise, cloves, charred onions etc. The broth here was much more bland and seemed to rely heavily on fish sauce rather than that deep, comforting flavor pho is known for. Even the toppings felt incomplete. They didn't offer the usual herbs like mint or thai basil and just offered cilantro and bean sprouts. Honestly, the soup felt flat and lacked balance. The owner is the sweetest -- she is always so welcoming, kind, and genuinely friendly, which makes every visit feel special. The beef spring rolls were pretty good. It had the fried crunchy brown onions and the meat tasted like ground taco meat. Very different, definitely not your traditional spring roll. The Pho unfortunately completely missed the mark! Starting with the aroma, smelled nothing like pho at all. I'm not sure what that was but it wasn't pho at all! Not sure what broth that was. Amazing food and service. I went last night and ordered to go. I ordered kimchi fried rice, vermicelli with beef and shrimp, and their appetizer trio. All of it was so good. The kimchi fried rice was flavorful without being spicy, the vermicelli bowl had very generous servings of everything, and everything in the appetizer trio was delicious. Yesterday marked the start of Lent for us Catholics. While visiting the town of Buena Park, my wife and I stumbled upon a little restaurant called Pho House. The service was fast, and the food was delicious. I mostly stuck with seafood when ordering. I didn't take many pictures, but the one I did take of this seafood pho already makes me want to go back. This is not Vietnamese food. I saw the stars and blindly trusted the rating without reading the reviews because it was late, and I needed to feed the kids before everything closed. It's nice that the restaurant closes late. I should've figured it out when I saw the pictures in Korean, but I thought they did that because we were in a huge Korean community. The other nice thing is that the kid's pho is really inexpensive: $3.99 for a bowl of pho noodles and clear broth, which didn't have a strong flavor. The oxtail pho had a lot of bone chips and the toppings were sparse, especially for how expensive it was. I thought they were clever by naming bun rieu Vietnamese champong, but it was actually more like dukbokki with pho noodles. It did have a lot of toppings and noodles, though. They also featured other dishes like naengmyun pho. I don't think I would've been so disappointed if it was more apparent that this wasn't traditional Vietnamese cuisine. And I was a bit upset when the kids looked up at the TV only to see a scene of two men violently trying to strangle each other. Thankfully, I was close enough to quickly cover their eyes. read more

This is some of the best pho I have had the woman working here is so sweet she even remembers my order and one time gave me a box of cookies her food is good the time takes like about 5 to 3 minutes and she will check up on you and you get free hot tea! I ordered a bowl of pho plain and a pork bahn mi sandwich. The broth was salty not typical of other Vietnamese places, As for the sandwich pork meat was red like they added food coloring I It wasn't bad, but wasn't good. the noodles were good other than that can't say much more about this place as far as I'm concerned one and done. I know the ownership has not changed but it seems as if the quality has dropped off a bit. We used to pick up from here, since we live down the street. They used to keep the beef rare on the side but now they put it in while packing so it's not very tender when it gets home. The broth also doesn't seem as fresh anymore.
