Huge fan of dinosaurs and also a huge fan of pho, so this was a great find in Drumheller! Wasn't expecting to find a Vietnamese restaurant in a small town, but totally here for it! They have some options that aren't traditionally Vietnamese, but don't hate them for diversifying and trying to appeal to a larger audience. They had some dim sum offerings and a few dishes one might say is Chinese. Most memorable was their honey garlic crispy chicken wings - they were hot and crispy as promised, and low key would give Korean fried chicken a run for their money. I don't recall much about their pho, but as someone who has pho at least once a week, it takes a lot for pho to be memorable so take it as a solid contender at this place! Ordered 2 dim items: 1) ordered the lotus leaf rice. Smallest portions I've ever seen with dim sum, took. Bite in and it was cold. The server came back and said she would have them remade 2) ordered the Sui Mai First few bites were okay, no roe and the mushroom inside was odd. The third bite I took revealed that it was cold and raw in the middle. The server and the "chef" came out this time, she asked what the issue was and I relayed that it was raw. The chef, grabbed the plate and tried to look at it the the light to check the validity of my claim which was insulting. The texture visibly was raw. After a long day exploring Drumheller, we decided to stop by here for dinner. The restaurant's name is what initially drew me in. The menu was a bit all over the place with a traditional Vietnamese menu mixed with some Chinese dim sum items. I was amused that I can order dim sum for dinner when it is usually a brunch meal thing. We ordered the pho dinosaur special, the pork spring roll and lemongrass beef vermicelli bowl and a couple iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. Everything arrived within five minutes of ordering. This was definitely one of the fastest dinner services I have enjoyed in a long time. The food was also pretty good too. The pho broth was beefy and flavourful without being greasy. There was all the cuts of beef I liked such as tender and tripe. Noodles had a good chew. The vermicelli bowl was decent. I would have preferred the spring rolls to be made with a rice wrapper instead of a wheat wrapper. The spring roll filling was nicely seasoned. There was a good amount of beef slices. Lastly, the iced Vietnamese coffee tasted as expected. I was pleasantly surprised to find an authentic Vietnamese restaurant out here in Drumheller. I recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and are craving some Vietnamese food. read more

Looking for a tasty and reasonably priced meal without resorting to the standard pizza and fried chicken fair, Nancy and I stumbled across this restaurant while searching out "OK Chicken", a Korean chicken place located in a small strip mall with said "OK Chicken" on one end next to a Japanese sushi joint, a Dairy Queen, and finally, "Pho Dinosaur". "OK Chicken" had a sign saying that it was "Closed until for the notice" (sic). We walked down the line to consider the other restaurants' offerings, and into Pho Dinosaur to take a look at their menu. We were greeted by a Vietnamese gentleman who graciously offered us the menus to consider at the door, and as we said we were just looking at options at that point, he offered us a take-out menu to take with us. We had then considered the more established Vietnamese restaurant closer to the center of downtown, but thought that the atmosphere and authenticity of Pho Dinosaur would be a better bet as I had seen a couple of tables with Asian diners, the other restaurant with none. Returning, we noticed how fresh the restaurant looked, with it's modern tables and chairs, and were seated beside a wall with "brick patterned" wall paper. We decided to each have the Vermicelli Bowls, Nancy with the large (we hadn't eaten since early this morning in Edmonton) Pork Spring Roll & Satay Beef, Chicken Vermicelli, and I with Pork Spring Roll & Lemon Grass Chicken, Satay Shrimp Vermicelli. Both bowls arrived in fairly short order, brought by our friendly server (I assume that this is a totally family run business with the husband, his wife and one or two well behaved younger children present) along with two Asian tea cup sized portions of simple nuoc cham. Since this sauce had no additions like chili paste or shredded carrots, it looked like tea, and my wife very nearly mistook hers for same. Luckily she commented as she reached for her "tea" that I thought we were only having water, so I was able to catch her in time! A nice surprise were the "spring rolls" which were instead nicely formed little bundles similar to wontons or dumplings, very flavourful, with light and crisp wrappers. Each bowl had 8 of these very satisfying bundles. Though the menu were marked with "spicy chilies" for both dishes, we did not find them spicy at all, though with nicely seasoned meats and a mix-in of the table chili paste corrected the spice level to our liking. I suspect the owners tone down the spice level a bit as many Western palates may not be used to it, especially in a small Alberta town. My shrimp had a really good amount of flavour, and it was apparent they were marinated, and came perfectly cooked on the grill. The vegetables in the bowls were fresh and crisp. The vermicelli bowls were certainly tasty and satisfying, and tasted more authentic than many I've had in the big cities. I'd like to have tried the pho to see if the broth is as authentic and tasty, but I'll leave that up to another reviewer, or our next visit to "Alberta's Dinosaur Capital". read more

This place is wonderful kind of a hole in the wall type of spot but the food is wonderful very flavourful and tastes great pho is wondrous!

Absolutely delicious food and courteous service. It was so good that we went back for dinner the next night as well. Highly recommended.

The egg rolls were good and crispy ; but the rice they gave me was very hard or under cooked. The wings were okay. Wasn't too crazy about how they weee cooked. read more

Would rate 3.5 of I could. Smell in the restaurant was amazing! Grabbed take out so that might have an impact? Perhaps the menu is translated differently. A few items we ordered were not as expected, but we're delicious. Would go back and try different items. Spring rolls were excellent read more
