AMAZING spot to hit in okotoks!!! Honestly I am a Vietnamese fanatic & I have yet to find a restaurant (south Alberta area) that serves better Vermiceli bowls. Both the satay & lemongrass flavours are delicious and they have so many different variations of chicken, beef, shrimp, seafood, & vegetarian to choose from! Also they have the best peanut dipping sauce for salad rolls. No clue what they put in there that makes it so much better than other restaurants but it's insane. My personal favorite are the salad rolls with deep fried tofu. They have a very wide menu selection & are fairly reasonably priced!!! The best Vietnamese in the Foothills. I have eaten at Saigon Sun many times, and I have never once been disappointed. It is clean and bright, the service is always prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere allows for quiet conversation, unlike in many Vietnamese restaurants which can feel like a busy bus station. I particularly recommend their curry dishes on rice (deliciously creamy with perfectly cooked veggies and just the right amount of spice), the wor wonton soup, and the vermicelli bowls. Saigon Sun is my favorite option for a quick and inexpensive meal out that leaves me feeling full and satisfied. I took my Mom there the other day for her first taste of Vietnamese, and she (who is very particular about her food) can't wait to go back. read more

What happened to this place, post Covid the spring rolls were cold like they were made and kept under a heat lamp, and very greasy! The satay chicken soup was terrible! Chicken was dry and no spice at all, noodles were overcooked and the broth was just above room temperature. So sad to see this place go down hill so fast. I use to enjoy the soup and spring rolls at least 3 time a week. read more

Called to make a order tonight and was treated so poorly! I told my order and the lady asks for a clarification of what type of beef I wanted, in the time I turn to my wife who was sitting next to me I and her making a decision on style of beef which was less than 10 seconds, the lady had pit the phone down to handle another customer, which I can understand if they are busy and she's the only one working the front and the phone, but instead of checking to see if I was ready to order or saying can you please hold, she hangs up on me. I call back and ask if we had a bad connection and she says no I hung up because you took to long. 10 seconds isn't that much time. I ask if they are threat busy does she even want my order, and she responds "that's up to you. Don't waste my time." Needless to say I did not place a order and I will be making sure everyone I know does not order from here. read more

Called in my order for take out and was told it would be 15-20 minutes. I showed up 20 minutes later but the food wasn't ready. An hour later, I finally walked out with my order. An hour and 20 minutes is hardly justified for two #17's and a side order of fresh rolls. If you ever call in an order, wait at least an hour before picking it up. The food is decent, but I'm not sure it's worth the wait. read more

This is the best Vietnamese restaurant I have ever been to for rice noodle bowls, and their bubble tea is amazing. Salad rolls are also highly recommended. The service is fast, though it can be hard to get their attention sometimes so that's unfortunate. But otherwise it is a great restaurant. read more

This was my family's favourite place to go to for Vietnamese food. The food is great. Service is good but when it came to the end. We get our check before our kids are even done getting their dinner. Very disappointed in that I don't want to feel rushed. The restaurant had two other tables with people, so in other words it wasn't busy. Then the guy proceed to stand at our table with the debit machine and again this wasn't even 5 mins after and our kids were just finishing up their dinners. I don't want to feel like I am in a cattle car being processed faster than I can eat. So to the server please back off when people are eating and if people are in a rush they will go up and pay. read more

We flew into Calgary to visit relative. On the way we stopped by to check out this Vietnamese restaurant. It was around 2pm and restaurant was packed (usually it is an indication of popular for local). 10 minutes wait and we got a booth near corner. Waiter and waitress were very friendly. They came to the door and greeted us with cheerful smile. We called several of our favor dishes include the famous Pho. Food were great and directed to our taste buds. Color were well coordinated and plus the heavenly smell of "ca kho to". yuumm.. yuummm. Surprised to see owner take time to visit each table to cheer and inquire guests on food rating. (it is rare to see such generous reception from any restaurant owner). He was happy to share his continuous improvement on food quality and food presentation. I have to agreed on that point. Each dish has to attract me (color/smell/elegant) before my mind actually accept the taste. I can tell that restaurant did not use any MSG since I didn't feel any dryness in my mouth after chow down whole bowl of beef ball noodle soup. The place is roomy and clean. Two people can walk side by side between isle. Decor is natural color which help calm the mind down to enjoy the dining atmosphere. (It is not just only the food but the whole experience of the moment). He agreed to let us took some photos of restaurant and dishes. It was very kind of him. I am sure it is one of the best restaurant in Calgary. If you ever come to Calgary and in the area, I would recommend this restaurant. read more
