We've been here twice while on family vacation, a few years apart, and this place does not disappoint! One of the best Pho we've ever had. All the food was delicious- the pho broth is so fragrant with a deep flavor. We had a vegetarian with us and she really enjoyed her veggie pho! My brother and I grab dinner not expecting to order any noodle dish until their ac unit kick in .. lol. This place is off Rt. 1 in the Gunston Plaza surrounding with other businesses. As you walk in, the restaurant is somewhat spacious, clean, has a bar and some interior decor. We order 6 items: 1) Crispy spring rolls 2) Chateau roti curry 3) Lemon butter wings 4) Pho 5) Mango sticky rice 6) Coconut pandan crème brûlée. The crispy spring rolls arrive to the table hot so watch your first bite. The outer skin is unique, mochi-like filled with pork, vermicelli and vegetables which were very delicious. The chateau roti curry was very good but the curry broth is a little sweet and watery. It would have been much better if it was a little thicker so as you dipped it in, the curry sauce would stay on instead of running away. The lemon butter wings were mediocre. It was crispy but no lemon flavor hinted in the wings itself. The dipping sauce on the side was unique and tasty like a water down buffalo sauce with a hint of vinegar. The next time will try the volkayno wings which are simmered in a sweet and spicy habanero sauce. Due to the ac unit kicking in, we both ended up ordering our selected pho. The broth was amazing good before adding the essential condiments. The mango sticky rice was promising but as we all know the fresh mangoes are unpredictable. The coconut sticky rice was warm but needed a little more sauce because the rice absorb most of it. The coconut pandan crème brûlée unfortunately fell flat for us. The majority of the flavor was the pandan, We couldn't taste the infused coconut and it stated it was a brûlée but there was no contrast taste of caramel or the crackling of the sugar on top. Maybe because it arrive in a cup bowl with whipped cream and one maraschino cherry. Our server Lance was friendly, humorous, attentive and knowledgeable. So delicious, def recommend this Vietnamese restaurant. Nice and clean interior with booth as well as regular seats. The restaurant also has a bar where you can order alcoholic beverages as well. Pho (5/5) Best pho i've had in a while. Strong meat broth which I craved and missed so badly. Def will be back. My friends also really enjoyed their dishes!! Awful experience. I ordered the beef stew with pho noodles. The beef was not edible because it all was covered in fat, there was even TWO huge chunks of fat in the soup. None of that was mentioned in the description of the soup and our server kept trying to say it's normal. Another person at the table got pho and that broth was also bland just like the stew. Parking lot for all the stores can get busy during the lunch hours. We were seated and water was served while we decided on our food. Pho lunch specials $14.95 (s) or $16.95(l) pho that comes with a one spring or one summer roll and a drink. Any pho from the menu is available pho the special. The summer roll was fresh and was loaded with lots of shrimp. The crunchy spring roll looked crunchy and was the same size. The sweet tea tasted like sweet jade tea Arnie Palmer It was good, but I was saving space for the pho. They place a small plate of sides (bean sprouts, mint, jalapeño, and lime) came out first. If you like cilantro, you have to ask for it. They have some in the pho, but...if you cilantro, you need more. There is a sizeable difference between the small and the large bowls. The small is like a medium and the large is for the very hungry. The broth was good. The meats were plenty. I didn't waste any time in devouring my food that's pho sho. Plenty of tables in their dining area pho parties of all sizes. I enjoyed the efficiency of service and the taste of the pho at this place. I got a banh mi and mango sticky rice while visiting family. The pork banh mi was super flavorful and the crunch of the vegetables was just perfect. Beat banh mi I've had recently. Now, mango sticky rice is hands down one of my favorites things on the planet. And it's very hard to find as mangoes are out of season. I'm a huge fan Vietnam's famed breakfast soup, but sadly this spot was pho-gettable. I've passed Pho Chateau many times, so I figured I'd give it a try. I ordered the fried spring rolls and Phở. My favorite spring rolls are from Vietnam, so I was looking forward to these. Sadly, they were under seasoned and their nước chấm wasn't enough to liven up the dish. Also, the spring rolls were too oily. I surmise the oil wasn't hot enough and/or they didn't let the spring rolls drain. As for the Phở, I had #B89 (Well-Done Brisket, Fatty Brisket and Soft Tendon - Phở Chín, Gầu, Gân). I asked them for no soft tendon and to just add a little extra of the other meat. First, the dish came out with soft tendon, so I picked it out. My server saw me and was apologetic about it. They brought me a small bowl of the other meats to add to my soup. The broth lacked the characteristic richness and unctuousness you expect from Phở. It was under seasoned as well. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the meats were tender, so that was good. The restaurant itself was nice, clean, and inviting. I asked for more fish sauce and was given a little dispenser with it. My server also brought me a caddy with different condiments because they knew I was looking to enhance/ improve the flavor of my food. That was nice. My server was great. They were very warm, answered questions I had about the menu, checked in on me, and even engaged in light banter. The customer service here is good. I cannot recommend this place on account of the quality of the food I had. Sadly for Pho Chateau, Northern Virginia is saturated with Vietnamese restaurants and the competition is steep. read more

To some I may seem to be nit picky for others maybe they find my insights enlightening... You can't pick your truth, cause the truth doesn't lie!!! I have been around the world, I have eaten goats in Afghanistan and Korean BBQ in Korea!! I'm ok with the non-chalant greetings :) I don't mind sitting myself, so we just sat where we wanted and we were one of three tables eating.... Out of maybe 20 table tops... Here, the family staffing concept is in full effect, as the teenager temp agency is being used to augment the dinner rush... I get it, it keeps this business going while Unc holds down the grill!!! Apparently, we sat down in the employee break room... no biggie! After 5 min, we had to get up to get our own menus... I'm still good... Here comes the waiter, he takes the order... I'm still good... The waiter brings a couple fancy carafes of water, we pour our cups full and my son says... "dad, we should probably get different drinks!" I said, "uh oh, is it tap water?!"... "yup!!" So I give it the sniff check, it smells like a jacuzzi!!! Hold up... are you telling me a place the charges $15 for a bowl of soup can't afford a filter to serve their patrons a glorious cup of hydrating water??? Paradigm shift time... imagine if you had the best prices and best water?! Or even better, what if you voted the best kept secret on Lorton, Va?? Not because you planned it, but because the people who judge you have been all over the world just to prove theirs no place like home... because your attitude towards providing a quality product is hidden in your attention to detail and wanting people to be happy... rather than justifying sacrificing your reputation over water because you projected greater profit margins My son loved the food... If they are willing to cut corners on water, they would cut corners on anything... Seeing how this place was ranked #1 among all all NOVA pho joints in a 2020 local poll, it was hard for me to ignore it when I was visiting the (excellent) nearby National Museum of the US Army. I have to say, Pho Chateau lives up to its billing 100%. This is without doubt one of the best bowls of pho that I ever ate and that's saying a lot considering the countless amount that I've ingested over the years around the world. The reason why this place is top notch is very simple - the soup/broth is absolutely amazing. It is plenty flavorful but is also ridiculously smooth. Frankly this is one of the tastiest soups I ever had without any hint or grease or heaviness associated with it. Coupled with some very high quality/tender beef and you have pretty much, yes, one of the best pho's money can buy. The other entrees we tried such as the chicken rice as well as the spring roll appetizers were fine. The curry roti was decent although the curry itself was way too sweet IMO. But the real star attraction here is the pho, plain and simple. If you're someone who is always searching for that absolutely perfect bowl of Vietnamese noodles, this is without doubt a great choice. The restaurant is located in an unassuming strip mall in the middle of Lorton ... next to a DMV. The folks here are very friendly and the vibe is pretty relaxed. BLUF: my second review of this place to give them another chance after the first time. I just don't think they have their act together very well. Not going to be going back I reviewed this place a few months ago and noted they had some issues with each part of the meal. Nothing was terrible but nothing seemed to be quite up to expectations. In this case I went with others for dinner on a Friday. We ordered pho, crispy spring rolls, spicy imperial beef soup, and Viet beef stew. I should say here that I've gotten the beef stew as take out before and it was absolutely delicious The spring rolls were actually very good and we all enjoyed them. However when the beef stew and beef soup came out, the dishes looked pretty much identical. We asked the waiter and he said oh no no they are different. We sure couldn't see a difference and it certainly wasn't the stew that I had gotten before. None of the dishes, including the pho, came with the usual bean sprouts basil peppers etc. When we ask the waiter he said all that stuff is already inside it but we couldn't find a single bean sprout or jalapeno and just a few slivers of Basil. Again as a note when we've gotten take out take out has come with bags including all those vegetables for each soup or stew that we ordered. What we had was generally pretty good, but I for one really like all the additional ingredients you add for yourself especially the nice aromatics that come from the basil. When we ask for our check we actually flagged down a different person who was clearly more senior there. We asked him why they don't give customers the same add-ons as we got and take out, and why the stew looks so much like the soup. His jaw kind of fell open and he said that our waiter had made a mistake and not giving us all of those things. Frankly at this point I think they should have given us some sort of a discount, but that wasn't forthcoming. We won't be going back here. Came here after hiking at Mason a state park. It is-an excellent restaurant , great ambience, nicely decorated. We ordered bubble tea, mango and coconut. They were really very tasty. Then we ordered the two main dishes. One was salmon with rice the teriyaki salmon, very nicely cooked large portion full of flavor. Tasty dish came with a side of vegetables and white rice and the last one we ordered was the boat dish which is actually a boat they have grilled meat and shrimp. The only complaint is not enough shrimp only two pieces, and the beef and pork were very nicely cooked full of flavor. It came with rice noodles, the daikon salad, and dressing and lettuce, and some basil leave. We had to dip the rice paper in water, and then make the summer rolls ourselves, which was a very good experience loved it. Then the desert we ordered was the crème brûlée, which is made with pandan leaf .It is green in color very unique flavor. Loved it. A nice experience will definitely be here again. read more

Service can be hit or miss sometimes. I had the best service from two nice ladies working here during the weekday lunch time. Sometimes, service can be really slow or not too friendly though. Food is decent, but portions aren't the biggest I've seen. I'm sure this is due to the rising prices and fear or recession, so prices and portions are just not the same anymore. The broth here is good though (tad salty), so no complaints.
