    rice paper holder and water
    Joan T.

Excited to see another Viet place opened up. I know there's a lot of them, but it's one of my favourite cuisines so the more, the merrier!!! We came for a lunch visit and ordered a pho dac biet to share, a grilled pork and chicken on rice, and a fresh rolls platter that included a ton of delicious stuff to wrap. The pho was ok - not my favourite. I felt the broth lacked flavour and there was really not much noodles in the bowl. We had more meat and bean sprouts than anything in there, so I wouldn't come here for the pho again. The grilled meat with rice was great - just what you'd expect. Well grilled and seasoned meat with rice and fish sauce. The platter though was the highlight. It had 2 shrimp on sugar cane (which I felt was too soft in texture), cucumbers, veggies, herbs, vermicelli, grilled pork, grilled beef, and grilled chicken. They serve it with 8 small rice papers and you are provided with the water to wet and wrap it yourself. While I loved this platter, 8 wraps was not enough. Considering the low cost of those, I was really shocked that they wanted to charge an additional $2.50 for 8 rice papers... It's not even the full size rice papers - it's the tiny ones that are the diameter of an adult person's hand. It was a bit disappointing. But all being said, the food was great (minus the pho), and the service was really kind. I'm really excited to have another viet spot to choose from and will definitely want to order that platter again. I'm curious if they have it for take out because I have a whole package of rice papers at home haha!

In a world where the prices of Viet cuisine is skyrocketing, it is refreshing to see this place offer more affordable options while maintaining good quality of food. Service is a bit slow at time as there is 1.5-2 front of house staff. Food does come quick so once you order, you will be eating soon! Chicken pho - Was a bit surprised to see that the chicken comes on a separate plate from the bowl of noodles and chicken soup. Chicken felt almost like a hainanese chicken with the ginger scallion sauce. There was a good ratio of noodles and broth as well. Would highly recommend. Supreme grilled meats on rice - There was a good amount of protein in this dish. The fish sauce was also very good. Unfortunately I am not a fan of the marinade they used for the chicken and the meats did not have a good char flavour as I've come to expect from other viet restaurants. Would not get agian. Viet coffee - This was super tasty, every sip tasted like drinking chocolate. Would definitely get again!

Signature Grilled Meat Platter and Grilled Chicken and Spring Roll Vermicelli

We ordered the Signature Grilled Meat Platter, Grilled Chicken and Spring Roll Vermicelli and the Bun Bo Hue (not pictured) for three people and had leftovers. The platter was a great portion and could easily feed two people, if not three, if that was the only ordered item. It came with sugarcane shrimp, beef, pork, chicken, lettuce, cucumber, vermicelli, and a couple spring rolls. I wish they would provide more rice paper since there was a lot of meat and vermicelli remaining after we used the 8 rice paper pieces that came with the platter. I've been too other Vietnamese restaurants offering similar style platters and they offer additional servings of the rice paper for free. The Bun Bo Hue was pretty good - mild to medium spicy and it had a variety of meats. The service was great. The servers were attentive and quick. They provided fish sauce in a container for our take out leftovers. The interior is well lit and the tables are spaced well apart from each other. Payment is only cash or debit. The only limiting factor for me to visit again is the parking lot. There were limited spaces as it is shared with other establishments. I waited around 15 mins before finding a spot.

It's a small restaurant. Clean and quaint. The food was decent. Service was good. The brisket was too lean. I think it would taste better if the meat was a good balance of fat and meat. The price is comparable to most viet place.

    Signature Grilled Meat Platter

We checked out Pho Bun Bun and really enjoyed our meal! We ordered the Signature Grilled Meat Platter and the Coconut Fresh Fruit Slush. The platter was delicious, the grilled meats were tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Everything tasted fresh and was well put together. Our only complaint? It only came with 8 pieces of rice paper, which wasn't quite enough given how generous the rest of the platter was. A few extra wraps would've made the experience even better. The Coconut Fresh Fruit Slush was refreshing and creamy, a great complement to the savory platter. Service was quick and friendly, and the vibe of the place was casual and clean. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving solid Vietnamese comfort food!

    Hainanese Chicken Rice

Based on a take out order, I had a great meal from here and would definitely go back to try more or eat the same thing. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea and Hainanese Chicken Rice. The Thai Iced Tea fell a bit short with the tea flavors. The balance was missing, and it just does not hit the spot the way a good Thai milk tea should. The Hainanese Chicken Rice comes with a soup and salad. The soup was a nice surprise, much larger than what you usually get and savory. The rice portion was a bit small and slightly hard, not fluffy enough to come apart easily. The chicken was yummy. It had two layers with yellow skin, cooked just right, and was really flavorful. It did feel like it was on the edge of being overpoached, and it seems to have a slight drunken chicken taste which I didn't mind. There were only two sauces and I wish they came in bigger containers. One was a ginger and oil mix, and the other seemed like a vinegar, ginger, and soy blend. They worked fine with the chicken, but they were not the usual sauces I am used to for Hainanese Chicken. I also enjoyed the pickled salad that came with it. It was bigger than I expected and had mango, peppers, carrots, and taro. The mango was fresh. The deep fried taro strips added a great crunch, and there were also some crispy onion chips that were a nice touch. Overall, everything came together really well. Great portions, tasty, and definitely worth coming back for!

First off everything was not bad but I found it to be just average tasting nothing blew me away. I must note that the satay chicken skewers were way too spicy, to the point where it was literally inedible. It's not a bad location. Inside the T&T plaza at woodbine and 16th. Not sure if I'll be back to try the pho as it doesn't look overwhelming judging by this appetizer platter. It's a shame, I really love pho and wanted to love this place. But, there are many Vietnamese restaurants around and I don't think this one will be in my rotation. Sorry folks, my recommendation is try Pho Anh Vu or Ngon Corner which are nearby.

The restaurant is well-lit, clean, spacious & modern looking. Parking in this plaza is relatively easy since the lot is huge! We went on Christmas Eve around 6:15 p.m. The place was pretty quiet and we got seated right away. I ordered the Bún bò Huế. The broth was rich & spicy with good layers of flavor although on the oily side for me which probably has to do with chili oil. The bowl is full of noodles & ingredients making it fulfilling. My friend got the special beef pho large size and he said that it is very good. We also ordered the crispy spring rolls. We both loved this as it was a bit different than what we are used to. We believe that there is taro in the roll which makes it so yummy. I really liked the decor of this place! We both agreed that this is definitely a place to be included in our rolling list of Pho restaurants to eat at!

We started our meal with some appetizers - Spring Rolls, and Shrimp Rolls. They were huge and delicious, a sign of things to come. My cousins had the Rare Beef and Beef Ball Pho, Rare Beef and Flank Pho, and the Grilled Pork Vermicelli. The pho broth was rich in flavour, and very tasty. The grilled pork was delicious, with a nice charred flavour. I had the Beef Rib Bones Pho that included three meaty rib bones, and a knuckle bone with rich marrow. This dish is so huge, it's served in two bowls! It was a little awkward to eat because the bones were so large. I ended up taking home half of it to enjoy later. This dish is more than enough for sharing! Everything we had was very flavourful, with huge portions. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was very inviting. I highly recommend Lang Chai.
