I was expecting more. It wasn't terrible but the broth was lacking more flavor. Tasted a little close to bland with exception to adding herbs and spices. The Eggrolls are tiny but they were fried to perfection. However, at basically $2 per eggroll, this was a miss. Their portions are plenty. We ordered a small bowl of pho.. and there was so much noodles. The cafe sua da was decent but usually there's a strong coffee grounds brew taste... not in this case but again, it was decent. This location is right off 35 and you can see it off the highway. But it is on the southbound side, so pay attention to the swisher exit or you will miss it! There is always tons of construction so you have to make sure you exit a little early just incase. Anyway, I come here for quick lunch with my hubs alot. The lady owner is super nice. She is so attention and always smiling. Everything is delicious, I haven't had anything bad here. I stick to the vietnamese dishes. Look. It looks plain and simple from the outside, and has about the same level of decor on the inside, but that's not what you're there for. The Pho is spectacular. I always get the #17 (well-done brisket) with extra meat. The toppings are usually out with 5 minutes, and the Pho is on the table moments later. This is no joke just as good as the # pho joints in Dallas/Mid Cities/Arlington. Pho 95, places like that. No reason to leave the Denton area. They've also got some other fantastic soups, bowls and rice dishes. We go there 2-4 times per month. Gets our vote!! read more

Wow! Ridiculously Fast! Like, it'll freak you out fast! Pretty sure they read your mind. Let alone the speed, their pho is on point! I'm so glad my girlfriend ran into this place while visiting a friend. This place is super tasty! Very friendly staff and as I've said before, extremely fasts service. As usual, I ordered the Beef Pho Combination that comes with rare beef, tendon, brisket, tripe,and meatballs. My girlfriend got the beef pho that comes with brisket. We both shared some spring rolls. The pho broth was delicious! Super yummy with a strong star anise flavor! I'm not exaggerating when I say this but it probably took about 3 minutes to bring our order out. They came to ask for our drinks, we told her waters and went ahead and placed our order. By the tome we finished with our orders our waters were already on the way. By the time she went back into the kitchen, the spring rolls were on their way, by about half way through mixing the peanut sauce with the spicy sauce, our pho was on the way. Ridiculous fast! I mean it was decent to get by but the portions? Not too sure now. Ordered the large meatball pho for $8.50. I expected a LARGE portion. It came with 4 sad little pieces of meatballs. 4 cut up which meant 2 whole meatball. I imagined what a small pho would be. 1 meatball? I mean come on. As for the broth, it wasn't potent but more of diluted and watery. Don't expect too much here. Got pho ga for the wife and beef stew for me. Didn't realize that Bo Kho (beef stew) is traditionally served with 1/3" of beef grease floating on the top. My bad! They didn't bring the additions plate for the wife's soup (bean sprouts, basil, lime etc.), and didn't really seem to care about the oversight. The floors are really dirty. Don't go into the bathroom. Ordered meat egg rolls and got vegetable ones. Went down the street to the Jack in the Box, since the Bo Kho, to me, was inedible. I grew up as a kid and teen in Corinth so to see Corinth changing over the years is amazing to me. My journey took me back to Denton to try this place. First of all pad Thai is one of my favorite foods so I ordered it and it was amazing. I also use to hate pho. But they do it very and I mean very well and I loved it as soon as I put the pho in my mouth. The small hole in the wall places are always my favorite to go to. Don't pass up on this place. I'm not sure if she's the owner or manager but she's never forgot my order down to the drink. This was our very first time trying this place! What a pleasant and wonderful experience. We placed our order for take out/pick up. The ordering process with effortless. The guy who took our order was very kind and patient (I am a picky eater). He said it would take ten minutes. My husband went in to the store to pick up the order and the guy brought the food out for him! How kind is that? I don't think I have ever experienced that kind of hospitality, kindness, and chivalry in my life. We get home and unpack all the food. Everything was piping hot and the presentation was perfection! We needed takeout for the hotel room and this place was right across the highway. Was it coincidence or fate? We love Asian food and this place rocked! Excellent food. The menu was huge, but being who we are, we ordered the same old thing we always do. That turned out to be a good thing! The seafood Pho was wonderful. Glenda finished every last drop, which meant no leftovers for me. My Pad Thai chicken, while a little different from what I'm used to, was excellent. It's amazing how many different ways you can make the same dish, and each is delicious in its own way. Shrimp spring rolls are one of my favorites, and these didn't disappoint. My stomach is definitely shrunken because I could only eat one veggie roll plus the rice and vegetables. Very filling! Everything was super delicious! I'm glad this Vietnamese restaurant is not in my city or else I would probably gain all of my weight back. I just ordered calamari for $4.95 and literally got 6 calamari "rings". That's $1.20 per ring...??? I've ordered here before but never calamari. When I picked up one of the (very light) styrofoam containers, I thought it was the basil, bean sprouts, etc. for the pho. Nope, it was a measly 6 calamari rings and some carrots. SERIOUSLY??? I would call in to complain but by the time I got home, they were closed. Greasy and unappetizing would be the positive. And I haven't even opened up the banh mi, pho and rice dishes yet. Here's the thing... I've ordered here many times before but again, not calamari. It only takes one bad order for one not to come back and this maybe it for us. I know it's pandemic time, and small business are struggling. We, too, are struggling with being laid off but we thought "stick with what we know to be the quality food", we were wrong. Hadn't eaten here in about 10months but was craving Asian and my past experiences here were positive But the meal I received tonight was subpar and very bad. I ordered orange chicken, sweet-and-sour chicken, chicken lo mein, and egg-rolls. My guess is it was made prior in the day or even before. All the chicken dishes were dry, including the coatings on the outside of the sweet and sour and orange chicken. I had seriously rated the sweet and sour a 5 in the past, but I would give it a 1 tonight. The sweet and sour sauce on the side was literally like flavored colored water. Went for the first time while visiting my MIL. The kids menu is only $3.99 which is awesome and has several options. Menu prices are reasonable. The staff is nice. We ordered 1. Crab Rangoons - they were a fan favorite 2. Veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce. I've had better. 3. The kids Pho with steak. She liked the steak. She didn't like the broth or the noodles. 4. Pho with brisket for my MIL that's never had Pho before and had a hard time cutting the strips of brisket and in her opinion she would not call it brisket but she's probably thinking about Texas BBQ brisket 4. Veggie Pho - this was mine and I thought the broth lacked flavor. I've had Pho several places and this would not be in my list to repeat. 5. Sesame chicken for hubby. He thought the portion was more like a lunch portion but it was only $8. He thought it was tasteful and cooked perfectly. My daughter didn't think the place was very clean. She said her shoe fell off and her foot accidentally touched the floor and stuck. I had much higher expectations about this place based on the reviews. Well, after a 2hrs wait at Denton DPS for a license renewal, I decided to get a bowl of Pho since the weather was around 40s degree. Walking in to that store and I don't think I was welcomed, servers/cashiers are busy chatting with other customers until I came with a menu on my hand. Price was somewhat reasonable when you look into the menu but gosh, until the 19(Meat balls and medium rare steaks Pho) came out to the table, it was terrible! I mean the first few bites weren't that bad but the "medium rare steaks" are an absolute joke to me, kid portion, less than 10 pieces. I'm not trying to be a bitch at all but this is a joke for an XL size with this portion, all I ate are noodles and soup, I tried to talk to the cashier and he said if you want some extra meats you should order extra cause this is usually how it goes for a XL bowl of Pho. This is the second time visiting Pho Asian Star. The first time I ordered the chicken pho and the second time the pho dac biet. The first thing you notice is the delicious broth. It is so flavorful, almost too flavorful. They don't try to hide it, Pho Asian Star's pho is a total MSG bomb, and it is too obvious. If MSG doesn't give you headaches or anxiety, you will love this broth. The noodles were perfectly chewy. I really like this quality in my rice noodles and have only seen it at a few pho spots. 5 star noodles! The meat portion in the large is average, but the meat tasted good and I have no complaints there. You can also order an XL bowl if you prefer more. I found the large to be just enough for me to not feel uncomfortably full.
