#16 Combination Pho
Michael L.

This place was one of my favorites pre-Covid, and I just haven't been back. This Saturday and I walked in about 12:30 as the only customer. The greeter-server was friendly and prompt. As I sat down (I was invited to choose my own seat) I surveyed the dining room. Nothing in decor stands out, but I was impressed with how spotlessly clean everything is. I always think that the front of the house reflects in the back, so I would assume they take equal care of sanitation in the kitchen. I orderrrd #16, the special pho dish. I was surprised the bowl had almost more sliced beef and other protein as noodles. After 1 o'clock other customer, 4 tables came in. They were all greeted and served as promptly as I was. My food was delicious and more than I could finish. I think Pho 95 is back on my favorites list.

#44 Bun Tom Nuong Cha Glo.
Dining O.

We ate at Pho 95 on Route 64/Main Street in Saint Charles, Illinois, and found it to be very good. The service was excellent, very friendly and accommodating. We had four orders of the same dish, Bun Tom Nuong Cha Glo and an order of hot tea. The dish was delicious and fresh tasting. The noodles, vegetables and fish sauce were very good. We had mixed feelings about the shrimp, however. The seasoning was very good but shrimp appeared over cooked, very dry, and lacking in texture. The egg rolls were very flaky and delicious, but had minimal filling inside. The hot tea was lukewarm and very weak in flavor. Unlike other Vietnamese restaurants that we've attended, Pho 95 has more of an American sports bar ambiance. There are three TVs in the dinning room which was highlighting current news involving updates on war and politics during our dinner hour. We found the TVs to be distracting and not contributing to our dining experience. The only indication that this was a Vietnamese restaurant was name Pho 95, the menu, and two or three pictures hanging on the wall. If you are a sports fan who loves Vietnamese food, this might be the restaurant for you.

After the local Vietnamese restaurant closed due to Covid, I didn't know where I would get my pho cravings. I stumbled upon this place and I'm so glad I did! The restaurant is phenomenal! I've come here several times now and my experience has always been a positive one. The staff here is very nice and the area is always kept clean. I usually get the combination pho and it's very tasty and delicious! There's a lot of people who put sriracha and/or hoisin in the broth. But I like to put that on a separate dish to dip the meat in. Definitely add in the toppings such as the bean sprouts, basil and jalapeños (if you want a bit of heat) and a squirt of lime to give it that extra fresh flavor. The broth is amazing as it without those toppings. This is now my go-to spot for pho and whenever I get the craving for it - and it's quite often - you'll see me at this place.

I dropped by after class and had a craving for pho. The food was delicious and the broth was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this local restaurant as it provides consistency with the food, the service, and the prices as well.

Banh Mi Dac Biet (Special Vietnamese Sandwich with ham, pate, vietnamese butter, pickled vegetables, jalapeños and cilantro)

This place is only about 10 minutes away from my house, but this was my first time here. The restaurant is located at the end of the strip mall, tucked away in the corner. When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant looked very clean and the decor reminded me of the Vietnamese restaurants in Argyle. I could instantly smell the comforting smell of Pho broth that filled the restaurant. There was a good amount of people there; more than I was expecting at 1:30 on a Saturday in St. Charles, IL. While this place is obviously named after their pho, my boyfriend and I decided to try different items on their menu. For an appetizer, my boyfriend ordered Goi Cuon (Spring Rolls), which were pleasantly light and simple. The peanut sauce that it comes with had a balanced flavor that went well with the spring rolls. You can't really go wrong with spring rolls as an appetizer! Next, my boyfriend ordered Soda Hot Ga, since it was something different and seemed interesting to him. It was an interesting flavor that grows on you the more you drink it. It is sweet and refreshing! I ordered a Banh Mi Dac Biet because I was craving one. It really hit the spot and I really enjoyed the bread they use. One thing that I noticed about some Vietnamese restaurants is that their banh mi seems lacking to me because the bread is too crusty for my liking; but the one at Pho 95 is just how I like it! My only complaint about the sandwich is that it did not have as much Cha Lua (Vietnamese ham) as I like. What the sandwich lacked in fillings, it made up with in flavor! I will definitely be coming back for a banh mi whenever I am craving one! Last, but not least, my boyfriend ordered the Bun Bo Hue. I tried the broth and it was very hearty, the kind of soup that you want to warm your stomach with on a cold winter day. It was a good mix of spicy and umami, but I personally like my Bun Bo Hue with a little more lemongrass flavor. Although it's not quite as good as my mom's (inside joke), we both still really enjoyed it and I will be back. I would definitely recommend this place! It is super authentic and the food is a great deal for what you pay for!

Pho 95 - Bun Tom Nuong (Vermicelli rice noodles with grilled shrimp. Fish Sauce on the side.

My wife and I were in St Charles and we were looking for a Chinese restaurant to stop and eat at. In our search we found a Vietnamese restaurant called Pho 95. Neither of us have ever eaten at a Vietnamese restaurant so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. It was amazing! We started out with an order of Cha Gio (Egg Rolls). The egg rolls came 3 halfs to an order. They were very hot, crispy, and very tasty. For our main dish, my wife had Bun Tom Nuong Cha Gio (Vermicelli rice noodles with grilled shrimp and an egg roll). Now my wife is weird about trying new things but she really liked this dish. She even said she wouldn't mind coming back again for this meal. Now I do have to mention her dish did come with a side of fish sauce that she didn't like. But she did say the rest of the meal was wonderful. For my meal, I had the Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet (spicy hue-style noodle soup with Vietnamese ham, sliced pork, beef, and broiled blood. Now, I myself have never eaten blood but it was part of the dish so I had to try it. It was amazing! My dish came with a side plate of bean sprouts, red cabbage, and fresh basil. I added these ingredients to my soup and it made it that much better. All the different flavors. Again it was amazing! Next time we are in the area, we will definitely stop at Pho 95 again. There are so many great looking items on the menu I would love to try. The staff was awesome. Our waitress asked if we ever had Vietnamese food before? When we told her no she started to explain what some of the items on the menu were. Very nice. And the restaurant was very clean also.

Located in the strip mall. Food very authentic and flavors are not overpowering. Pho broth is very tasty and "solid"-not watery . Smalts- is great and perfectly fried. Everything from crab Rangoon to wings tasted great! Furik approved! Thumbs up

Their takeout pho is mediocre; be sure to ask for more sauces if you decide to stick with it.

Is the restaurant BYOB?

They do not serve alcohol, but I have seen people bring wine. Not sure if it is legit BYOB, but they operate that way.

My 14 year old son needs advice on what food to eat here on his homecoming date. He is so picky and only likes chicken. Help?

Pho Ga! That's their chicken soup.

Do they have a vegetarian/vegan Pho yet? They said they only had animal stock based soups the last time I called...

Yes, we have a veggie broth for pho!

This includes discounts on drinks and half off small plates. It's important to note that tables only seat 2-4 people so larger groups can't be accommodated unless there are adjacent seats at the bar. Our group got all four of the HH cocktails and each brought its own delightful flavor. We also got the Tuna Tower and Shishito Peppers to share which were great portions. We later transitioned into the main dining area for half-price sushi on Tuesdays. This is a steal of a deal but a reminder that happy hour deals cannot be recognized outside the bar area. Our group got a strong mixture of sushi rolls and I don't think there was one that disappointed. Flavors were straightforward but of good quality. Most items labelled "spicy" weren't bad. Highly recommend coming out to double down on these specials!

Extremely disappointing experience, and unfortunately, one that I feel deserves to be shared…read more I came here for sushi with my cousin and our 5 kids, so there were 7 of us total. I completely understand that seating a larger group can sometimes be difficult, especially since we originally had a 4-top and our group changed. What I don't understand is being told "no" immediately when we asked if there was a way to sit together, without anyone even attempting to look at the floor plan or see what could be done. Instead, we were seated at two separate tables with a couple sitting between us. We were actually able to fit everyone together at one table, but we were then asked by the restaurant to separate. We did exactly what we were asked and tried to make the situation work. Then came the part that really changed my entire view of this restaurant. My cousin went up to the host stand to get another coloring page for one of the kids and overheard employees talking about our group and saying that we were being "disruptive." I cannot express how incredibly rude and unprofessional that was. If there was a problem with our group, the appropriate thing to do would have been to speak to us directly--not stand at the host stand and talk about paying customers where they could hear. And here's what makes the whole situation even more frustrating: **there were TWO 4-top tables that stayed completely open for the entire time we were there.** Instead of offering one of those tables to our group, the employees went to the couple sitting near us and asked them if they wanted to move. They understandably said no. So I'm left wondering why our group wasn't simply seated at one of the tables that was already open. I have worked in the restaurant industry for 13 years and am a server myself, so I understand better than most that seating large parties can be complicated, restaurants get busy, and not every situation can be perfect. I am usually extremely patient and understanding because I know what happens behind the scenes. But there is absolutely no excuse for making customers feel like a problem and then talking about them within earshot. We were there with five children. We weren't causing a scene or intentionally disrupting anyone. We were trying to have dinner together and enjoy ourselves. Instead, we were made to feel like our family was an inconvenience. What makes this experience even worse is that we spent our money to dine here and left feeling like it was completely WASTED. I don't expect special treatment just because we have children, but I do expect basic courtesy and professionalism. If I'm going to spend my hard-earned money at a restaurant, I shouldn't leave feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable, and like I was being rushed out because my group was inconvenient. The way this was handled was completely unacceptable. There are plenty of restaurants where families are treated with respect and made to feel welcome. Unfortunately, this was not one of them. I can be very understanding when restaurants are busy or things don't go according to plan. What I cannot understand is treating a paying family like a nuisance, talking about them behind their backs, and making them feel unwelcome when there were literally open tables available. Only positive thing I can say is that our waitress was so kind, attentive, and patient! Thank you for that. Needless to say, I will not be returning, and I will not recommend this restaurant to other families!!

I have driven past here many times and finally decided to try it. We came to dine-in on Wednesday…read morenight around 7:30pm. The service was a bit slow, but there were only two people working. It took about half an hour to get our food. We enjoyed watching Deal or No Deal on the TV while we waited lol. The guys working were really friendly, brought our food to us and even asked us how we liked the food. I would probably only order takeout from here in the future because they had those orders ready on time. I ordered the 6 piece boneless wing combo, which comes with fries and (possibly?) a drink. I did not realize that I could only choose one or the other for the combo: a drink or side of sauce. While ordering on the kiosk, I selected cheese sauce and it replaced my drink because they were under the same category of options, which I didn't even notice. Although I felt like it was my fault for not double-checking, I still don't think a tiny container of sauce is a fair drink substitute... oh well. Another thing to note is that online when placing an order/viewing the menu, it says the combo comes with a 20oz bottle of soda even though they only had 12oz cans in stock. I think these discrepancies could easily be fixed, and might prevent some confusion/disappointment among future customers. I appreciate that they gave me two extra wings because the boneless are somewhat tiny. For my sauce on the wings, I chose to try the Buldak-Gochujang and it was a little sweet with a hint of spice. The plain fries were just okay. They offer a bunch of different topping options for the fries, which I might be interested in trying next time.
