This is an authentic Vietnamese spot. I came here because my sister raves about their pho, although I was craving something lighter on the stomach so I ordered the Bún Tôm Nướng. This bowl came with dry rice-vermicelli noodles and grilled shrimp plus veggies. It was so delicious and filling. I asked for a side of peanut sauce because I prefer it over the oil they provide on the side. The service was great, our server was very attentive and brought our food out fairly quick. The employees are all young, in their teens and just standing around like they don't know what to do or do their jobs to check up or take our order. Had to bother a waiter to take my order like it was a crime. The food is also terrible. The broth is diluted and not strong or filling. Bestie finally took me to this busy spot and I can see why. The pho is the hit here but who knew it could come it different sizes. The choices are still all good choices and can suit anyone's dietary needs mostly. The #31 beef pho medium was very good. Plenty of thin rare beef slices and lots of thin noodles. The broth was delicious. The seafood pho broth tasted like dishwater and only contained one shrimp in the medium size. The mini eggrolls were ok but a little dry. They don't have hot black tea but they have a variety of other teas. All are around $7 which I think is a little expensive. Actually, the prices were pretty steep on everything. This is our go to place for great local Phō. It holds my personal world record for fastest food service to your table. It feels like a minute from ordering you go hot Pho ready to go. We like the spring rolls with peanut sauce. My wife loves the vegetable Phō, I get the meat ones. Portions are big and delicious. Place is clean and efficient, right across from FIU. i loveee this place it's my go-to soup place i SWEAR this place heals me. I usually get the small 30, extra limes, and the grilled tofu to start. My favorite place for pho in Miami, so much so that I often times pay a pretty fee for the uber eats! The restaurant itself is legit, but far from me. I grew up eating pho from many restaurants and this is the best one I've found in my 10+ years living in Miami! Been to several Pho 79 at different locations before and this one is by FIU as wanting to give it a try. Restaurant is pretty big in size with lots of seating but small in flavor! We've tried the Pho special, rice vermicelli with grilled pork and shrimp, and rice dish with Korean short ribs. All tradition Vietnamese style dishes. Disappointed that they didn't have any Banh Mi on the menu, however next door they do sell them should you have the craving for one. Overall, the food came out quickly and was prepared nicely. However we felt everything was lacking the full flavor of what we're used to and experienced before at other Pho 79 locations. Everything seemed bland and was lacking that flavorful and herbal punch which makes a great broth or seasoned grilled meats. With the taste not hitting our expectations, the price point was not either. Menu seemed overpriced and well above average compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. My husband and I arrived at lunch and from the cash register someone signaled a place for us. The first thing I noticed was"no public bathroom available ". When we ordered this huge bowl of a pho soup no assistance in splitting the plate, the same applied when we requested a take home container. To conclude this experience our bill called for a 20% tip of no more than $13.00. When we got home we realized that they charged us a $20 tip. The food wasn't all that great either. Don't get me wrong the food is good but you must make sure you double check your order before the server leaves. Additionally make sure you specify if you get appetizers to bring one thing first and not everything in one shot. While your table can probably handle two the moment you have three or four go to a table and that way there is ample room. The prices can vary so be prepare to dish out a good amount, specially when you add the tip. The last portion is the lack of refill service. I'm in Miami and wanted rice. This was a local recommendation for Vietnamese cuisine. First thing I noticed as I arrived to the parking lot was the horrendous parking style. I was greeted by an employee upon entering and noticed there was only two other tables with customers on a Friday night. I decided to place my meal to go and ordered pork chops, egg, and rice. The meal is pricey and I get it that Miami is a high cost of living area but at the same time I'm expecting a good quality meal with finest seasoning for that price. The meal came out within 10 minutes or so and I was happy on my way out. Got to my hotel and opened my to go box and the meal look alright. Sorry, I forgot to take the pic as I was hungry to gobble it down. There were three pieces of pork chop and as I took a bite, I was disappointed on the lack of seasoning and was a bit disgusted on the thick fatty meat. Alright Vietnamese food in a pinch. Went here with my parents because the Pinecrest location wasn't open as early and although it was alright, it didn't quite hit the spot the way the other location does. We started off with spring rolls which were pretty well made, fresh with a good but not excessive amoutn of noodles and greens. My parents got beef pho which was alright and Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) that didn't quite have the depth of flavor and savoriness that you expect from a really good Bun Bo Hue, it was also lacking in spice. My pork chop rice platter had two nice sized chops but in a light brown pretty sweet sauce that was very different from the typical grilled marinated flavor of Vietnamese pork. While the taste was alright, it lacked that nice chargrilled flavor and savoriness I was hoping for. The location and service are nice and the food is satisfying enough in a pinch, but if you want truly authentic or memorable Vietnamese food I would keep looking around. read more
