This restaurant says "authentic" Pho. They DO NOT have Thai basil, they serve with cilantro. That is not authentic Pho. The broth is flavorless, the "rare" beef is served well done. Service is poor. We were never asked how our meal was by our server. They forgot half of our order also. Staff let the online order machine alert unanswered, therefore we had to sit and listen to it beeping repeatedly. Staff also kept changing the music repeatedly, so it was overall a terrible experience all around. Highly recommend not wasting your time or money at this restaurant. read more

We really enjoy Vietnamese food and we had not been able to find a place in Brownsville that satisfied that itch. So we came to Pho#1 and really hit the jackpot! My favorite dish is the Yellow Curry Chicken Soup. (It's addictive.) 2nd place goes to the Chicken or Beef Pho. I don't recommend the "seafood" pho as the menu says it has crab, when it's pollock you're paying a premium price for. Just no. The Bahn Mi sandwich is hit or miss, depending on how fresh the bread is that day. The Vermicelli and Pad Thai are basic but ok. For an appetizer, the Spring rolls are tasty. read more

The pho here definitely satisfies my cravings especially in cold and gloomy weather. The portion size is large, the broth is flavorful, and the meat is super tender. I especially love the ones with meatballs! They have an expansive menu with various Asian dishes as well. I got their tofu lettuce wraps (option to use other meats as well) and omg I've never had such savory tofu before! I almost felt full eating that appetizer before the pho even came out lol. So for the vegans and vegetarians out there this place is very friendly :) The shop is warm and cozy inside and the service here is fast! There was one occasion when my take out order was messed up and they only offered to give me a re-do the same day rather than being able to come back another day, which was kind of inconvenient for me to drive to and from home twice. read more

Wow! Pretty good Vietnamese in Harlingen?? Who would have thought. It's not going to win any awards, but likely the best I've had in a long time so there are definitely points there. Fast, clean, great service. I had the pork fried dumplings. They were a bit gummy, but on the other side of that they were quite tasty and I enjoyed the sauce. For the entre I went with the B30: 30. Vermicelli with Marinated Char-grilled Shrimp. It was VERY fresh, tasty and hit the spot. The shrimp were way over cooked, but they made up for it with a fantastic seasoning. I would definitely return and advise anyone who likes Asian food to stop by if they are in Harlingen. read more

if i could give this place a 0 i would, i got the beef pad thai the beef was chewy noodles were sweet and it wasn't all that great. I left and the next day i threw up endlessly and received food poisoning from this place. It was 50$ for food that i couldn't even enjoy. Definitely was NOT worth it smh read more

Hey ya'll. Raquel here to just tell you all that if you are ever in the Harlingen area this is a fair to good little spot. They serve small from what I am used to. Unsure if they are feeling the "recession" but not what I am entirely use to in plate sizes. It might be a good thing as I should cut back. Lol! The broth in the Pho was pretty delish. I have had better bahn-mi sandwich. Bread was pretty rough and the size of the sub was smaller than normal. Hardly any meat in sub. I'm a huge fan of the Banh Mi sandwich which could be why I am a bit critical and not content. Fresh egg rolls were fresh yet thin. The lady checking out was pretty nice. Stopped in on our way from SPI in hopes to have some Thai food. It's not really a Thai place. More of an Asian/Mex Food Restaurant. They have a little bit of everything from Vietnamese, Chinese, Mexican and Thai. If you are looking for traditional Thai this isn't the place for you. If you want a quick Asian meal this is your spot. Food took 5 minutes maybe after we ordered it. Thai Tea is good. Sesame Chicken was more of a sweet and sour sauce chicken with sesame seeds. When you walk in it smells really awful. I asked what if was. They said they are burning candles to mask them sell of the sewer. Terrible for a restaurant. *** attention management **** Strike two. The cokes are flat. The sprite was flat! If you are going to operate a restaurant please make sure you dam soda machine is working or simply offer cokes in a can. Because the ones you are selling are flat and taste terrible. Not that hard to do the right thing and fix your soda machine or sell cans ************************************** Lastly the food: I got the lemon grass beef and as you can see from the pics, this is not lemon grass beef! I am not sure what it was. Maybe their own version of it. They claim to be Thai and Vietnamese but they also sell Chinese food. Guys pick one and get good at that lol. This is the first time in a long time I asked to send my food back and get something else. I simply couldn't eat their version of lemon grass beef. I settled for general tso chicken which was good. Being the only Pho restaurant in Harlingen, Texas I had to drop by. The restaurant is in a shopping center that has plenty of parking. It has the right decor and plenty of tables. Jennifer was very efficient and friendly, the decor is on point. The Pho menu is very limited, only one size bowl, and only one chicken choice. Multiple beef choices. I started with an appetizer of egg rolls (mostly known as spring rolls). So I asked for soy sauce since this Asian restaurant does not have soy sauce or chili paste on the tables, Jennifer brought soy sauce packets and tiny individual plastic containers with chili paste to my table. To wash it down, I asked for a glass of drinking water, what I got was a cold iced glass of "TAP WATER", Seriously?? I don't know if they charged me for the water, but please, if you don't, charge the customer something and serve us some purified water, because the Harlingen Tap Water does not taste good, and it ruins the meal. The weather was cold and wet so I craved for hot chicken soup, so I ordered the only chicken Pho on the menu. They only have one large size bowl of Pho. And it was served with jalapeño, lime wedges and fresh cilantro (CILANTRO???), ....... Not fresh MINT or BASIL? It must be a local thing, or maybe mint or basil are not readily available in this part of the country. The soup is served hot but there aren't a lot of chicken slices in the bowl, in addition, the chicken is sliced unevenly (some thick slices and some thin slices). The chicken Pho was not the best, but not the worst, it was just ok. The key was the cilantro versus fresh mint or basil. I ordered a Chicken Pad Thai to go, because #1 Pho also serves Thai food. The chicken Pad Thai first of all, at #1 Pho is served with steamed rice, WHY RICE? Your starch is the noodles!!! Maybe because you're trying to give me less noodles. The Pad Thai here is priced slightly higher than other Thai restaurants, and served with less noodles, it comes with chopped peanuts on the side, and a lime wedge. Overall, you got a modest 5 out of 10. Leaving you a lot of room for improvement, you could start with purified water, if it wasn't for all the water on the soup, I don't know what I would have done. read more

Cute hole in the wall spot that serves Vietnamese and Thai food. We were seated right away for dinner. Took a minute for everything to come out.. water, appetizer, entree and check. Not annoyingly slow, but noticeable. We started off with egg rolls, which were amazing. I ordered the pad Thai and hubby had the beef pho. The pho was definitely the star here. Very rich broth and hefty portions of meat and noodles. Had a nice spice to eat and served hot. My pad Thai was okay. Nothing spectacular besides the fact I'm eating pad Thai in The Valley. It was too saucy for my taste. Very wet. The rice it was served with was also mushy. Usually happens when you put too much water when you're making it. I passed on that. Krikee!! Thank God for this place!! Was gettn tired of the 183 Mexican restaurants; it was fresh food with great flavor!! Service a bit slow n not on top of things (keeping beverages flowing). Good variety of dishes to keep one satisfied if you wanted something fresh n different!! Delish eggrolls, yum yum chicken teriyaki dish, no milk boba but still not bad. Smells of fabuloso when you walk in, not my favorite while I eat. Strong odors like this do not enhance tasting food, it detracts. Pho was done well, egg roll was good, the pork Bahn mi not so good, the flavor was just too sweet and soy, nothing special, and the bread was not good. Looked like a Pepperidge farms hoagie from HEB. A bolillo would have been fine, this bread was junk. For $8 bucks it was a waste. I wouldn't give it a second try just because of the fabuloso. Big pass for me. read more

Came for lunch as a recommendation but was not too happy with the food. First the water had a VERY BAD taste to it, must have been tap water. I ordered the veggies with chicken lunch plate with free ice tea. The chicken and veggies had a good taste but the quality of the rice made the entire meal not so good. Back again for dinner on a Tuesday night. Did not remember what I had ordered six months ago, my last visit,until I updated my review and found I had ordered the same thing, curry beef with spring rolls as appetizer! Such a creature of habit. Service was very good and I had my food before I knew it. I should comment that the location shown in Yelp is incorrect. It takes you past the location and it is easy to miss as it is in the shopping center a bit and hard to see from the street. The spring roll app. was good and tasted fresh. Liked the dipping sauce served with it as well. The curry beef was not as good as I remembered it. There was nothing wrong it just did not taste as good as before. 1. Orange Chicken was frozen, boneless and very dry. 2. Pineapple Chicken is the same exact plate as Orange Chicken, just add Pineapples. It was a VERY small portion of chicken, plenty of Onions, Peppers and watery oily sauce. 3. Lo Mein was too oily. 4. Vietnamese egg rolls- pork sausage wrapped in spring roll pastry and deep fried till its rubbery. 5. Food lacked lots of flavor 6. Always a delicious meal no matter what you order. Definitely my comfort restaurant especially in the fall.

Thus place is legit! We loved the pho and the egg rolls. The service was fast and friendly even though we came 45 minutes before closing. We did not feel rushed and we're well taken care of.
