Great pho broth and unlike their competitor nearby, Saigon Pho, this place actually serves the requisite vegetables with the pho. Saigon did not, and they thought that they were completely justified in normal for not giving vegetables with the pho. Would not go back there for this reason alone. The owners of Pho #1 were attentive, the service was spot on, and the family that runs it seemed to care a whole lot about what I thought of it. I was very happy with the broth, the amount of pho that I got for my $14, and the rice noodles. I had the medium rare beef and I will get it again and again. Their vegetables were plentiful... Bean sprouts, basil, jalapeños, lime, etc., etc. And I wanted more, I'm sure they would've happily brought me more. Their chili oil was amazing...plenty spicy so be careful but I seek that to go with my pho. The fact that this place exists within Brunswick Georgia... Found this adorable restaurant/food shop on my travels. My husband & I do enjoy Vietnamese Pho after having it in Vietnam. We are always in search of this soup and as authentic as possible. It's flavors are based on many things starting with a good bone broth which comes from marrow rich bones being cooked for a day or two. I make it at home but it's like sauerbraten (sorry to change countries) it takes time to get that flavor right. We found this restaurant to be authentic and delicious. Also, it's fun to shop in the adjoining store for authentic Vietnamese ingredients!!! Also they have a bubble tea bar!!!! Go get some! The restaurant is located in an older plaza. The turn into the plaza is rather abrupt, so just be on the lookout for that. There are a couple of establishments that share the parking lot. The lot isn't that big, likely can fit about 30-40 cars at full capacity. Some of the other reviews do talk about this, but the restaurant is small and comes across as dirty and unkept. There are approximately 6 tables in the restaurant that can seat approximately 4-8 people, depending on the table. The restaurant is connected to a small Asian market which sells miscellaneous products ranging from snacks to frozen foods. Quickly, the pros: The pho broth (I had the meatlover pho) was on point. The noodles were cooked well, and so I have no complaints about the food. The restaurant appears to be run by just the couple, so service can be longer than expected from a typical pho spot (not really a pro, really should be in the con section). The couple were courteous and helpful, so no issues on that front. Now for the cons: The biggest thing is the boba here. DO NOT GET IT! The drinks are an uniform price of $5.99, and it seems like everything is made with powder. I had the taro boba and unfortunately, it did taste quite artificial. The second qualm I had was the pricing of the place. Perhaps the pricing is reasonable in this area, because there aren't many other pho spots, but I felt like a medium bowl of pho for $15 was quite overpriced. This restaurant is in an Asian store. Like 7 table seating. It was raining today so pho soup I must have. It's like a family runs it. 2 old lady and the man who does the cashier part of the store. This place is very good! So good I went two weekends in a row! The first time I was impressed because it [the pho] wasn't very oily. The second time I got pho to go and it had more oil than my first visit. That was a little bit disappointing but not every batch comes out the same. There could be a difference between dining in and getting it to go that makes a difference in the amount of oil. I did not have the best experience with the boba. The mango tea was good but the tapioca pearls were bad. They may have been overcooked or sat for too long. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a try. We relocated from So Cal and had problems finding good Pho that compared. Found this place, and it is awesome! Pho broth is the key to good Pho, and hands down one of the best we've had! Try the Chicken Pad Thai, amazing! Don't confuse this place with Saigon Pho, a lot of reviewers do. They don't sell sandwich's, so those reviews belong to Saigon Pho. I did not think I was going to be able to find an Asian market anywhere in Brunswick so I splurged and bought all of my favorite childhood snacks including shrimp chips, butter coconut cookies and grass jelly drinks. I also ordered food for take-out and while I enjoyed the meal, I was not thrilled with the dim sum. - Chicken lemongrass vermicelli: Yummy!! The chicken was delicious and the portion was large enough for two meals for me. - Shumai: Definitely not the kind you find in a dim sum restaurant. The food was alright no complaints there. The restaurant is dirty. The real issues were when we were paying. There were 3 of us, but only 2 ordered. We were forcefully charged tip and the lady told us that when there's less than 5 people they charge 15% tip. I'd never heard of that. She stated that all restaurants do it. She also took the card out of my mom's hand and stuck into the card machine. She gave my mom the receipt and we were confused at that point. Didn't realize she had given us the merchant copy and not the customer copy. The lady flipped out, yelled at us, and snatched the receipt out of my mom's hand. Very rude. Awful experience. This is our favorite restaurant when we venture forth into Brunswick or the Golden Isles. For about five years now we have always returned to Pho # 1 because the food was always delicious and the service was always friendly and accommodating. We absolutely love the staff here and of course we love the food. As far as Asian themed restaurants in this area, this is by far the best in the Golden Isles. This is not American-Chinese. I don't usually update my reviews but absolutely had to. I have to reiterate that the service and food here is phenomenal, top notch, you name it. The owner is a wonderful host in every sense of the word. We felt as if we were home, eating a home cooked meal. It is as homey as you can get in a restaurant environment. We all ordered the shrimp spring rolls, which is one of the best I have tasted (Have eaten at many different Vietnamese restaurants in AZ, NJ, NY). We were on our way down from NYC to Miami for our vacation. We decided to stop here to rest and have some hot soup since My mother an d I were both not feeling well. Atmosphere: The joint is a typical Asian run place. its not the best looking but im used to it. Next door they have connected an Asian food market. Wait Staff: The wait staff was the ultimate example of southern hospitality!! Even though they were Chinese immigrants, they took us in and help us out in time of need. My mom was slightly injured a few days prior and they came out in droves to assist with medicines, water, gauze, etc.. I have never seen such friendly people when they didnt have to do anything. I was extremely grateful for everything they done for my mom. Food: Appetizer: We had the fresh spring roll. it was very refreshing. Entrée: Beef Pho combo - it was decent. Wandered in here on a Friday night out of pure curiosity. The gentleman, I assumed was the owner was so nice. He suggested the beef bulgogi so I ordered it to go. I noticed that there was a little store attached and I was interested in the green tea powders. He made me a iced green tea latte and it was really good so I bought a container of the powder mix. He told me how to make it just like he did and also gave me a small container of some of the milk he used. Now the food, omg it was soo delicious, fresh and full of flavor. I could kiss the cook it was soo good. The dinner portion is huge, my fiancé and I devoured it. I will definitely return and try some of the other options on the menu. read more
