The overall experience of attending PTS training, the material was decent and the instructor was good. However, during the program we were told that with what the course covered along with a referral from our instructor and resources provided by the program, that this career path was one of high demand, essentially translating to high job availability and increased chances of a rather quick transition into the healthcare field at least at entry level. That is not the case in the slightest. It has now been over 6 months since I completed this course, externship and licensing. I invested my time, took off of work, and paid a good chunk of money (2k) to be licensed and certified, multiple applications on multiple platforms per day/ week. Nothing... While I am grateful for what I learned during the program and feel good about doing something completely out of my normal scope, I do not appreciate the complete lack of transparency regarding the over saturation of this field, especially here in Southern California. Nearly all places look for a minimum of 1 year of experience, a 3 week course and 5 day externship isn't the best look... In essence, I realize now that these programs are built with intention of high turn around rates, prioritizing maximized profits over transparency and integrity. If phlebotomy is something you are truly passionate about, look into programs through a community college or UCI, I can't speak on those program costs, but I do know now that these programs are more detailed, thorough and may increase chances of employment within this field. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!! The teaching style is horrible, and the teacher is very rude. This is the only school I've attended where asking questions is not encouraged, or you get called out names. One time, I was talked to (like an idiot) by the teacher for not knowing where or what cappilaries are. The teacher straight up reads from the class book, and scrams through the paragraphs quickly with little or no elaboration. Again, you cannot ask questions, or else, you'll be talked to like an idiot. For me, personally, I do not see the purpose of attending a classroom to hear an instructor read aloud a book which I can do by myself. read more

I took a step up a mountain when signing up for a "phlebotomy" program, only knowing the term/field a week before I signed up. I attended the 5 week-Saturday program to have a balance schedule in life. This step was a wonderful step in a path I now built a heart for. The class instructor, Christy, is a huge influence in this. Her devotion, patience, honesty and enjoyment during her lectures/teaching made me wake up every morning looking forward to class; I'm not a morning person whatsoever. Any question is professionally answered and she is so cool I just smile each class. Her guidance allowed many students, especially myself, feel comfortable in blood drawing. Other students who came to make up time, not from her class, also shared their satisfaction being there with her and learning! The textbook provided gives a whole study guide that can be beneficial to the national exam. It has a whole glossary to review terms for this medical field and has many quizzes to practice with. Most students in the class are just awesome :) People there are so kind, willing to learn with you and create a lovely learning environment. I highly recommend this program. -I had a great instructor -provides a hands on learning experience that allows you to feel comfortable in this HANDS ON medical field -offers externships and is state approved -I believe you are allowed to come back to finish up and/or practice more punctures for FREE(before your externship) -Gives you a textbook and workbook that covers a large amount of information for phlebotomy read more

The course itself: I would not take this course again and wouldn't recommend to anyone who actually wants to pass their exam. I took the 3 week course, the instructor was nice but almost nothing we covered was on the exam. I took my exam the day after the last class and passed only because I am good at guessing. If you really want to understand information that is important to the NHA don't take this course. The externship process: I submitted my externship info promptly and my externship date was scheduled in a month and a half. I thought maybe things were booked and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then found out that people who turned in their documents way after I did were getting sooner dates. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. It was a last minute decision as I suddenly became interested in phlebotomy. This place is 10/10 hands down. I got super comfortable with poking people with needles, learned how to effectively take blood draws, and did cool little things like centrifuging. The material is not hard and while there is a lot to learn, it is possible to understand given the amount of time dedicated to studying and reading it. I finished the 10 day phlebotomy course back in the end of September and I wanted to leave a review for both the company and the instructor Christy. Beginning with Christy, she was professional and really cares about your success. Going in depth throughout the entire book while also giving insight into her own personal life, really prepared me for the test and also prepared me for real life situations. The company really puts a lot of work on making you get hands on experience (I did my first venipuncture the 2nd day of class!). While it was scary at first, Christy understands that and really helps you get into a good rhythm with consistency. Honestly, without Christy, I wouldn't be able to find the confidence, so Thank you! In regards to the company, they are very very flexible. I have a hectic schedule, and because of that I had to attend both morning and evening classes. It was super easy to schedule with the company and the people answering the phones were absolutely helpful and cheerful. Overall, the process of taking this class was pleasant. I've been looking into phlebotomy schools since deciding upon a career change. There was one about 5 minutes from my house but upon checking this school out I opted to attend this one. From the moment I walked in the door, I liked the school. I thought the receptionist was very informative and nice, not pushy about the deposit, the cost of the school or to get me to sign up. Later, I found out the receptionist was actually the instructor. This school opened their doors in November 2013, so everything is still new. My class was very small and Tania, the instructor, is very good at explaining and teaching... so good in fact, that after a few weeks you are well prepared to take the National exam. It is a very fast paced class so you do need to pay attention and do your homework - you start drawing blood on the second day, like the other review stated. Class is very short - only 10 days! Then you take your National exam. After passing, you get assigned your externship and receive your phlebotomy certificate. After that, you have to get your California state license and take a CPR course before you can get a job. Tania also has a CPR instructor teach the CPR course so you can get it completed quickly. Even though class is only 10 days, it does take a lot of time to complete the requirements for the license. I took the course mid-March and just got my email confirmation for my CA certification (in July). I would highly recommend this school. read more

I took the evening class in Santa Ana, Ca with Mrs Christy, she is the weekend instructor typically but she was our night class instructor and she was covering to Glenda who typically does the night class. Mrs Christy plays favorites ( especially if your Latina and makes it very obvious) and doesn't allow for full class participation.She doesn't encourage or allow space for other students to speak or give answers. She gives more focus on the students she lives rather then the students that friendly need the help. She gives good tips and tricks when it comes to drawing blood. But she makes the class not motivating as you don't really feel like you can participate or really allow yourself the practice your knowledge during lecture hours. She loves to gossip with her favorite students. If you want to learn some extra tips and tricks and your already in the field she's a good teacher but outside of that the class environment sucked and just made me not want to go to class. The day class teacher on the other hand was amazing and took the time to be with each student especially the ones that needed more help. If I took this class again I'd take the morning class for sure or the night class if it's not with this teacher! AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. MADE ME HATE THE CLASS. read more

I am so incredibly angry and disappointed with this program. The instructor was ok (JUST ok) but the organization and clarity of the program itself was absolutely APPALLING. I recieved inaccurate information multiple times from the student services center despite following up and requesting clarification, the class was sent 3 different schedules with three different "off" days, half of the class was receiving emails with updates and half weren't; it was ridiculously terrible. I have never had such an awful school experience. I would under no circumstances ever recommend this company to anyone, and furthermore, would strongly discourage anyone from utilizing this service. I sincerly hope remediation efforts are made, as I am FAR from the only student to voice these complaints. The students of this class deserve better. I did the accelerated one week course. It was such a great experience. Make sure to get Reyna Costa as your instructor. She is so wonderful, smart, kind, and patient. She really cares about her students and making sure they get all of their draws and ready for the exam. I can't say enough nice things about her. I passed my test the first time with over a 430 score (you need a 390 to pass). She is also there for you after you are finished with your course if you have any questions about finding/applying for a career in phlebotomy. I'm so happy I took the course. I highly recommend the 1 week course. It's totally worth it if you are head strong and ready to dominate. Be on time, do the work, and you will succeed, I promise. I could not speak more highly about this program! We were taught an immense amount of critical information in just ten days, but it was presented in a way that helped us all to commit everything to memory quickly. We were taught how to draw samples (not as scary as you'd think!) on day two, and were given ample time to complete the state required amount of successful draws. The provided textbook is very thorough, laying out the general procedures and precautions for draws and sample collection, related anatomy, functions of the blood, and common terminology you'd come across in the field. You're also provided a healthcare location to perform the mandated 40 hour externship. The state test is not difficult if you put in the effort to study consistently. I've heard phenomenal reviews of their other instructors as well, but Christy Hitchcock made this class exciting to show up to every day. She's hilarious, intellectual, and takes on a very maternal approach to her students. She makes an effort to appeal to the three learning types, leaving no student disadvantaged by the amount of information we were required to recall with ease. Her care for her students is visible, and she somehow managed to calm everyone's nerves regarding the first few pokes (yes, you practice on your classmates and vice versa! It's not as bad as it sounds though). I wish all my post-bacc classes were taught with the same enthusiasm she brought to the classroom. As a hopeful applicant to various PA programs, I figured this would be a good skill to have under my belt to provide me with working clinical hours. I was so impressed with the effort Christy took to give us an edge in the application process without prior experience. We were given great answers to interview questions, help with resumes, and insight on the best places to work. What this class, and particularly this instructor, offered was invaluable. Fabulous class! Christy is amazing- her wealth of knowledge and experience is beyond compare. I am already in the health care industry, so I appreciated the fast pace of the class. The hands on lab draws are exactly what is needed for prep to do the same thing in real practice. My 19 year old son also took the class and said it was the most excited he's ever been to wake up at 6:30am! I took the accelerated course in Santa Ana from 8am-4:30pm. Mrs. Acosta was amazing! She made the class really enjoyable and everyone was very comfortable in the class. I wish it could have gone longer, or that I could take a course with her again! She definitely wants you to succeed. The only thing I wish was different, is they teach you everything you need to know for hands-on work, but it does not fully prepare you for the NHA exam. You will find things on the exam that you may not have learned in class. I got the NHA book off of amazon and took lots of practice tests on quizlet and passed my first try! I want to start off by saying Christy was AMAZING she is knowledgeable, hilarious, humble, kind and understanding. She really knows what she's talking about and is the best teacher I have had I absolutely adored her while in her classes. I give this a ONE star due to the customer service I received from a woman named Shelley, who spoke to me with zero compassion and had a very bad attitude as I'm going through a family emergency and had a question regarding possible refund due to having to move out of state from this emergency, the woman was down right nasty to me. If you can get through this program without having to cross paths with Shelley then I certainly recommend taking the class with Christy, but if you need anything to do with support or customer service save yourself some time and money and go somewhere else where you can be treated like a person instead of a paycheck!! You are paying them and you shouldn't be spoken to the way Shelley spoke to me, she is sarcastic and mocks you and speaks to you like you're stupid and is no help she just argues and is nasty which was sad to witness! She gives great feed back and constructive criticism. If you're sensitive I suggest you don't take her class or learn to suck it up because she will call you out if you're not taking or doing the right steps. I honestly don't know how to rate this School. The program was fast and you learn a lot. I did the class in December of 2017 and I passed my exams. I currently have my CPT I but I haven't had any luck in getting job because of my lack of experience. From the time you take the class and get your license it's like 3 months or more. So when you apply for jobs they want experienced people. I'm honestly disappointed I've tried calling and emailing to see if I can go in and refresh everything and no answer. I honestly don't recommend it I just spent $1700 for nothing because I can't even get a job. I wouldn't recommend it to someone that's not in the medical field already. read more
