I am going to be completely and brutally honest with this review. This is for Helen Bush Instructor. So please bare with me. I took this program mainly because the price was good. I had to drive all the way out to long beach everyday but I told myself it was only for 5 weeks. So when I got there on the 1st day, I thought I was being pranked. The whole school is a family house. The initial class is in the middle of a kitchen/living room. I don't seem to understand why no one has ever mentioned this on here. So whatever. Before she even introduced herself to my class, she wanted her money. If we didn't hand her our credit cards we weren't able to ask or say anything yet. Your receipt is like one you'd get from a liquor store. Theres also no parking.. I constantly was scared to walk to my car because it's not a good area. The actual class was a joke. She basically handed us a stack of papers and read it word for word for 4 hours straight. I'm not kidding. So everyone was all excited to learn the actual SKILLS. Lol Nope, she is the laziest CNA instructor alive! She barely showed us anything! And she would never repeat anything... she told us to look up her videos on youtube!!!! so what did we do in class? We looked up her videos and sat THERE and watched it. with absolutely no HANDS ON TRAINING. I'm encouraging the rest of my classmates to post on here, so you will believe me. During clinical, she was like a mad women. She had no respect for the actual CNA's that were working. She would just throw us around the facility, nothing was ever EVER organized. By the way, she has a very straight forward demeanor. She's rude and senile. She would tell us that we smell, to not laugh, to not smile. Very inconsiderate. She tried charging us extra for everything. 15 mins late, missing 1 hour. Lol she tried charging one of my classmates $300 to make up one day. WITHOUT STAYING THE WHOLE COMPLETE SHIFT. she tries to CON everyone! watch out for this!! SHE NEVER GIVES YOU A STETHOSCOPE OR BLOOD PRESSURE CUFF, which is stated clearly in the tuition amount. Her and her son are rich lairs. She BEGGED our class to take her HHA class for $500. and got very upset with us because no one was going to do it. CURRENT: My class has now passed our boards exam. We paid Helen Bush $100 for our CNA boards exam. Including fingerprints, the test and the application. AS our instructor it was her job to take care of sending all our papers over to the California Department of Public Health. Well, its been about 5 weeks since we all passed. And we should have received our licenses weeks ago. So we all individually called the department and they told us that THEY NEVER RECIEVED OUR APPLICATIONS TO BECOME CNAS!!!! So I called helen immediately and she told me to fax them the paper myself. That it is no longer her problem and to tell the rest of the class to not be bothering her about it either!!!!! She is refusing to help us out or even figure out what is going on!!! So we all are out of jobs because she will not fight for her class. She seriously doesn't care about her students. she just wants to get paid so she can go on her vacations that she's constantly bragging about. RUN AWAY. I found Trident through a friend that did the program and is a CNA now. Ms Hellen does a really good job of preparing her students for the state board exam. Her style may be a little different, and the location is definitely not the best, but I learned so much from her and was able to pass my state board on my first try. I was in the first class after the Covid changes and she did a good job making sure we were able to learn everything. You can tell she really wants her students to pass the exam and start work right away. Hellen also let me come by the school on an off day and practice my skills, which I thought was really nice. I attended the class just 2 months ago let me tell you Ms.Hellen makes the class easy and very understandable she takes the time to answer all your questions, yes the class is small and looks like a single with a kitchen and bathroom but its there at your convenience. Most of her classes pass the board exam at a high rate. Ms. Hellen gets to the point and teaches you the right way to be able to pass the exam and use her knowledge working as a wonderful CNA. She is strict when it comes to the clinicals but hey you shouldn't be late nor on your phone or talking you have to be learning and working helping others. But its school you go to learn not to play. I believe the David review is bogus I'm pretty sure he didn't attend the class and its someone else who wrote the review. I am currently a student at Trident, I am not sure why this student would write such review. Mrs Helen will always gladly answer any questions you have during class when she is giving her lecture, after we take the test, she goes over any questions the students have. She even encourages her students to come early so that we can go over any skills/ questions we may have. Another comment I didn't agree with is the hands on training, we go to a facility every weekend for 12hrs not sure how that is not hands on training, for the skills she has everything is her classroom that you need to get ready/practice for your skills for your board exam. And again she encourages her students if you are able to come early, to come early and she will be more than happy to help us with our skills. Making up missed classes: Mrs Helen is very understanding if you are not feeling well or you must miss a class. Remember this is an accelerated class (4-5 weeks) if you miss a theory class you can make it up by coming early(NO CHARGE) if you are sick for clinical day she encourages you to come and she will either put you in a conference room/stay in you car OR you can make it up the next coming class when they start their clinicals, mrs Helen does mention in the beginning of the class if you wish to make it up your clinical in the term you are in enrolled in and not wait for the next to make it up you will have to pay extra you have to understand that she will have to go to the facility with you for 12hrs for ONE student. I had a problem with the parking, yes it's not fun looking for parking but it is Long Beach, I suggest for you to come early to find parking right in front of the school THATS THE ONLY THING out of "Davids" comment that I had to agree on. I drive from Culver City to Long Beach for this class and I have no complains because Mrs. Helen is a genuine instructor she knows what she is teaching. I would encourage anybody that is looking for a CNA Class to take her class, since I am a current student I have not graduated my class yet (currently taking the class) I look forward to writing my full experience once this term is over. read more

This school is literally the worst and not worth the money you pay for. The professor spends most of the day doing boring lectures and reading off a book with mild analysis. She even reduced the amount of time the class is being held for, which is not what we paid for. The classroom setting is in a kitchen that literally has a stove and a fridge which is very unprofessional. First and foremost, I enjoyed my time being here at Trident School of Nursing. I just graduated and passed my Board Exam this past Friday. I am so happy! Thank you very much Ms. Hellen! The whole 6 weeks went by so fast! (One week, in addition, to prepare for the Board Exam). I still can't believe I finished! I thank Ms. Hellen so so much for being the best teacher/professor that she can be for her students. I also give credit to her assistant, Ms. Leila for helping us out with the admission process and for being there to help us with paper works and everything else to have us prepared for everything. Ms. Bush is truly the best. She prepares you to be the best CNA that you can possibly be and teaches you the proper ways to be successful in your career. I discovered Trident School through good research and this school was number one on the list and in the area. 5 weeks program?! What a great deal! This is a fast way to get your certificate and be able to start working as a CNA/HHA. She is very nice and caring. She will always be there for you to answer any of your questions if you ever need them. So don't be afraid to ask as much questions/concerns as you please (inside and/or outside of class). She really prepares you for each module test and for the class final. You just have to put in the time and effort to do your part and study! What you put into this program will be the result of your success in the end, so just do your part and you should be just fine. She encourages her students to also do the HHA Program, which is held during the last week before the completion of each CNA Program. This is good because you get 26 hours in for your In Service Training as needed to maintain your CNA Certification for renewal every 2 years. She always provides you information on jobs that are hiring, especially if your need work ASAP. She connects you with jobs that are looking for Caregivers as well as HHA and CNA jobs (for later when you get certified). You will probably think that everything is 5 weeks every single day, but it is not! The Theory Classes are only during the first couple weeks/ 2 weeks and a half. The rest will be clinicals during Saturdays and Sundays. You are always welcomed to come and practice your skills in the school as long as you ask her for permission. She is always one call and text away from anything you need in order to be successful for your board exam and future career. As an Alumni, my advice is to try to get to know the members in your cohort and help each other out as much as possible. The more you get out of your comfort zone and participate, the more you can get out of your learning experience. The clinicals really helped me get a better understanding on how to work with patients, and it made everyone more comfortable and confident in the working field. Some students may probably take things the wrong way based on the way she tells you certain things, but you just have to take constructive criticism from her to make you better. Please be understanding of her because it is just the way she teaches and that is how you get better in the end. When asking questions she may not get the whole question the first time, but just clearly explain it to her so that way she can better answer your questions. Oh and she evens cooks her famous soup for the class here and there! Her soup is actually pretty good so don't be afraid to give it a try. Other than that, just enjoy the whole 5-6 weeks experience, and you will be prepared to take the Board Exam. As for the Board Exam, make sure to practice all of the skills you learned in class (in and outside of the class) and also do practice tests online to prepare for the written exam. You will need to do really good for the written and skills exam in order to pass and get your certification. I would say do not focus too much on the skills because through practice it is easy to get the skills portion down fast. What is most important is the written portion (you will get tested 70 questions on the topics you've learned in Theory). I wish everyone good luck, and to have a fun experience as I did for this 5/6 week journey. If you have any questions at all never hesitate to ask Ms. Hellen! I just took my state board exam yesterday and I must share that not only did I pass but without my teacher Ms. Hellen Bush I would not have ever been able to walk in there as confident as I did. Trident School of Nursing is only a 5 week program and if you are looking to become certified for CNA and HHA look no further. I did some price research and for everything this program has it is well worth the money, other schools were a bit higher in price. I truly enjoyed the small class feel! It was much more personable. Ms. Hellen was like a mother hen who fed her students & watched out for them throughout the 5-week program! I really enjoyed Trident School of Nursing. Its has a family feel because of the small class size and because Mrs. Helen makes you feel welcomed and at home. Helen is strict but its because she wants you to succeed. Like another review said, she gave handouts and then went over them in detail, she went over the skills as often as you needed, and she was extremely helpful at the clinical sites if you had questions or needed assistance with anything. Although I haven't gotten my license yet, I've gotten 3 job offers right after taking the board exam. The state will look into anything that you have on your record, which will prolong you getting your license, so the fact that I haven't received mine yet isn't the schools fault. I am a part of the brutally honest class and will give an unbiased review here about my experience with my CNA class. I also want to touch on some things that were said about the class and state whether or not I agree with them. I'll begin with that. Yes, the class is technically at a house. Helen, the instructor owns the property surrounding the school and has segregated a part of a house for her classes. It's not the fanciest looking place, but it gets the job done. It's actually fairly common to get trained at homes for certain licenses. Helen's class had all the necessary equipment needed in order to teach us at school and other things, such as a Hoyer Lift, were used a the locations for our clinical. Yes, she was upfront with her money. I think anyone would. However, you also have the choice to submit a deposit and pay the rest later, like I did. I personally didn't care about the receipt so long as it was legible and it was lol. Parking, I can see how it could be somewhat of an issue. I always just parked around the corner, by this school. There is always parking there. Yet, for a girl, I always just worry in general. The papers she handed out were on the curriculum, and SHE DID NOT merely just read it word for word. It was not like that at all. This comment bothered me because this is something I had to personally compliment Helen for. She reads every single point on each chapter, but she would elaborate every single point based off of her experience. I learned a lot. Also, she was not a lazy instructor. At this point I have to explain, there are a couple of students who I am not going to name, but didn't like the instructor. Clearly. Sometimes people argue with their instructors and from then on are left with a bad taste in their mouths. Anyone can relate to that. Ms. Helen is genuinely a nice person. I admit, there were a couple of times where she'd call out someone if she thought they were licking their fingers, chit-chatting or other things, but that's all understandable. It's school. Sometimes she did call people out when she shouldn't have, though, but the number of times that had happened was very minimal. I myself would get in trouble one or two times, but that's because I would make people laugh while she was trying to teach the class. She did it for good reason. If you work at a skilled nursing facility, you'll find that loudness and laughter tend to set off a couple of residents. It's happened. -- Okay, so we did watch YouTube videos but that was because of me. I asked if we could watch videos. The instructor was not lazy. We need to be honest, a lot of times we would get lazy. I'd be training on a student or a dummy, while others would just sit at their tables or sit outside and not doing anything. I even just sat down a couple of times, but she'd check on us and if I had any questions at all, anytime, she'd answer them for me and the other students. I'm sorry if you're expecting the instructor to hold your hands and force you to practice your skills, but it's not like that most places. So there were hands on training so longs as you got up and did it. She was not like a mad woman. Some CNAs like her, some didn't. Some didn't like her because they thought she would be tough on us. Yeah, we got lectured sometimes. I didn't like getting lectured, but it's a discipline everyone needs to make. She's nice, but when at the clinical she'll call you out if she sees something wrong. She did joke to somebody about being smelly... wait no she didn't. She joked at a student for having garlic or onion on their food. She was trying to lighten the mood. My goodness and like I said before, she wouldn't like it when we are loud and laugh loud, but that's because of the line of work we are in. She never told us not to smile lol. About charging us extra. She did state that she'd charge us for being late to a clinical. I honestly just saw that as a way to scare us into not missing class. She has a set schedule when teaching, so scaring us with a late fee is something I'd expect. But no one in our class had to actually pay the fee. One thing that wasn't mentioned was that the Board Exam fee is not covered by our tuition. We do have to pay an extra $100 for that. We pay that and that money gets sent over to the location that allows us to take our Board Exams. Without it, we can't take the exam. Yes, we never get a stethoscope or a blood pressure cuff. I think I do recall seeing this when I signed up for the class, but I am not sure. When we (the class) checked the site again to see if they were supposed to be included, it wasn't stated there. Idk if she removed it or if it wasn't there, but we did not get those. ... she did not beg people to take her HHA course. My goodness. She would ask the class from time to time if anyone was interested in the class. I got my license, started $16/hr skilled nursing job getting 2nd job @ UCI Medical that pays as much. My family really needed this. read more
