Results were later mailed to me at my workplace in a gigantic white and multi-colored envelope plastered with the Labcorp logo and a huge "IMPORTANT CONFIDENTIAL *RUSH* MEDICAL INFORMATION ENCLOSED" graphic... Gotta say: THAT I don't appreciate. For a facility that should be aware of information sensitivity, discretion, and confidentiality, that is unacceptable. Mail passes through many hands including employers and managers before it gets to me, and I'd appreciate a little more subtlety. My tests were fairly run of the mill, but for the sake of everyone, please use a less-conspicuous envelope and plain text for potentially sensitive medical results.

They take care of you and are glad to answer your questions. Granted, the high tech automated check in system is confusing and changes often, but that's not the fault of the phlebotomists. Somehow "corporate" can't get a lot of things right (more than the check-in kiosks). Something "corporate" does get right: your doctors typically have your results back in 3 days! If I had enough, thumbs I'd give this LabCorp a 10 thumbs up. But my thumb count is just two. Still, they deserve a 10. (subtract one for "corporate's" unwillingness to spend a buck on the patient experience.) I'll stop now because by adding and subtracting all those thumbs, I'm confusing myself.

NTL provides a worthwhile service and I'm sure their personnel do a fine job, but my experience…read moresuggests that you can almost certainly do better. First, they're expensive. To have my well water evaluated, it cost me $182.95 for the kit. I choked on that a little, but went ahead and ordered the sampling bottles and included shipping box. Then I found out that it was going to cost almost 50% more to overnight ship the filled sample bottles with a big warning that the bottles had to reach their lab in no less then 24 hours with the clock starting with the first bottle filled. Sure, FEDEX says they can, but if they don't, the $182.95 is paid for nothing, and you'd better not ship it on Friday or any day just before NTL takes a vacation, and they don't tell you which are those days, and factor in that, based on my attempts to call them, they close at 5:00 PM sharp, eastern time. So you bottle everything up and find out when FedEx has their last pick-up and speed a little in your car to get there at just the right time, and then you wait. Did they receive it on time? Surely they'll send a confirmation email notifying you that all is well, or not, but no - they'd much rather wait for you to call r email and then, eventually, respond to your inquiry. That's less than wise. And then you wait. If they needed the water in 24 hours, the expectation is that they would need to start the testing immediately, but maybe not. It took over 2 weeks to get my results and while I'm certain that some test results need to soak for a while, the assumption here is that these tests are pretty much automated. I suspect that Flint, MI didn't need to wait 18 days for their test results. And then there're the results. I'll pick one that I'm familiar with which is arsenic. The EPA apparently judges simply the total amount of arsenic in the water; however, unless you want to go to the expense of running your water through a whole house reverse osmosis (RO) system or you can afford to distill all of your water, the companies that can filter out arsenic with a much less expensive solution need to know if you've got arsenite (As III) or arsenate (As V). Certainly NTL knows this, but if the results show that your water does have arsenic, they'd rather suggest that you send them yet another sample (and pay for overnight shipping) so for $125 more they can tell you if yours is As III or As V. That's underhanded. My suggestion is that, if you need your water tested, find a local certified lab. Your state water quality department likely has a list. Dealing through the mail with NTL just isn't worth it.

First, their front desk staff are rude and overzealous. If you are ill, you can be expected to wait 2 months for the next available appointment or go to an urgent care, when your physician might have squeezed you in. The scheduling only seems to allow for well-patient visits. This may be because UH requires that each visit last only for 15 minutes, putting pressure on physicians to be caring, accurate, and able to diagnose and treat every single thing in 15 minutes. This is not the fault of the practitioners, but rather the system. And is reflected in UH's low abysmal ratings. But really, the front desk staff is reliably awful at this location.
