Called Phil again this year to have our gas fireplace serviced before winter blew in. Still a solid 5 stars. Exemplary customer service even though this is the beginning of his busy time of the year. We were scheduled two days after I called. On the morning of, Phil texted and said he and his assistant could arrive earlier than anticipated. That was just fine with us. As in previous years, our fireplace was cleaned and inspected and the interior and exterior was vacuumed, the glass removed and cleaned as well. The work area was kept clean and drop cloths were laid over the hearth and nearby furniture. Our nosy cats had to be in the thick of things and that wasn't a problem for Phil either. When all was said and done, we had a sparkling gas fireplace ready to be used. Phil promised -and noted on the invoice- that he would return in the summer to respray the inside of the fireplace as an extra perk and to spruce it up a bit. Servicing costs are still very reasonable and fair. He told us to call him right away if we had any issues. Recently I was doing some house cleaning and went to clean the gas fireplace and to my discovery and my lack of maintenance the fireplace looked like it had not been done in years (well let's just say at least 15 ). Started YouTubing to do the work myself as I am very handy and capable but changed my mind and Yelpers guided me to Phil's. Called Phil and he answered right away, he was very pleasant to talk to and I felt a good vibe from him and engaged his services. Only a week until he could come out which was fine. Phil arrived a bit early which was not a problem, they went right to work and placed down moving blankets in the work area and as a synchronized team they went to work on this haunted mess. They turned the glass from a white foggy sheen to a clear I can see no glass at all. Cleaned the rocks, the log arranged the embers to a much more beautiful layout. The under carriage had so much dust build up I am ashamed of it ( sorry no pic I take the 5th). Top to bottom perfection and professional work, they did an outstanding job. Phil explained his cleaning warranty to me which was very clear. He also let me know my unit fan can run off a dimmer switch to control the fan speed (I have a spare it is happening today for sure). I would give them more than five stars if I could. We arranged for a 3pm appointment on a Friday, but they called to let us know they were running behind and would be about 45 minutes late or so. When they arrived, we discovered that it's because they're definitely very thorough, paying attention to details and taking care to keep the area clean. They were able to quickly assess the issue was with the valve and unfortunately replacing it required a trip to the store. Since they already had our enclosed gas fireplace open, they took care of some other stuff provided as part of their service such as spray painting the interior (which looks great -- definitely do this). What really makes their service above and beyond for us though is that they were so compassionate and accommodating. When they said how they could come back on Monday with the part, we asked if it was something we could possibly pick up and install with help from YouTube without potentially killing ourselves, and explained how we had a sick 24 year old kitty we were hoping to let enjoy the fireplace a little because it was his favorite spot, and for it to be where we say goodbye to him. At first they said Sunday, but then looked over their schedule and promised to be out the next day. I brought my grandpa kitty down and they talked a bit to him, and also shared stories about their own pets. One of the guys whose name I'm completely blanking right now even showed me pics of his adorable dogs. He also assured me that the home euthanasia service we were planning to use for our kitty was absolutely who you want to use, something he unfortunately knew from experience. Everything about their service was considerate and efficient, and it was enjoyable conversing with them. He verified no gas was leaking afterward, pointed out there was an outlet underneath we could use for a fireplace fan (which we didn't even know was a thing) if we got it wired, and let us know about his fabulous warranty. Our fireplace looks nicer than ever, now has an adjustable flame, and the total also came to less than we were originally quoted. I really can't convey how grateful I am. Because of their hard work and kindness, my kitty was able to enjoy his favorite spot in front of the fireplace up until the very end. He was my fuzzy son since he was a kitten and we'd just lost another beloved kitty a week before in a distressing way without the chance to say goodbye, so I was incredibly worn out and hoping to have the fireplace ready for him. Around the 15th of March we asked this company to clean our inside fireplace and repair the pilot light to our outside fire pit. We had just replaced our carpet with a custom made carpet. Phil's assistant took hot parts out of the indoor fireplace and placed them on a tarp, on the carpet. The part burned through the tarp and the carpet. Even though Phil payed for a replacement carpet, it took 2 months to get it installed. We were constantly telling our visitors why we had a burn hole in our carpet throughout this time. Phil proceeded to check out the outside fire pit. He stated he would need to order and replace the pilot light assembly. On March 27th he texted that the part should be in on the following Tuesday. No communication until April 9th. At this time, he said he would be out on May 1st. He never showed up. We rescheduled for May 5th. He showed up and stated he ordered the wrong part and would get back to us when the new part arrived. On July 1st I texted him to find out the disposition of the part. No response. Today, 4 months later I reached out again. He stated he lost the part and that now we were to find the manufacturer and order the part ourself, disowning any responsibility of the problem. read more

You can stop searching for a fireplace service company. You've found the company you should use. As others have written, I wish I could give Phil's company more than five stars! I'm originally from Hawaii so I know as much about gas fireplaces as I do about neurosurgery. Phil patiently gave me a tutorial on my fireplace and even suggested what product I could use to keep the glass shiny. From the look of the thick layer of dust that was at the bottom of the fireplace, it was evident that previous owners hadn't serviced it in years. Phil took care to spread a tarp on the floor, painted the inside of the fireplace, vacuumed all the dust, rearranged the logs and embers, checked for leaks and checked the integrity of the valves and pilot light. It took an hour and the service is well worth spending money on. My fireplace looks brand new! What's more, Phil is the nicest man and you want his company to be successful! Kind, friendly, professional and did I already say patient? If you call for an appointment and you don't hear back immediately, it's because he's popular. He will call you back within a day or two. As many others have said, I would give them more than 5 stars if we could. I had no idea that our dated and rather ugly looking fireplace could look so beautiful if it were just cleaned! We are renters, but have a phenomenal landlord; they tried to reach several companies to repair our fireplace when we had issues with it continuing to go out after a few minutes. I looked on www.nextdoor.com and searched Fireplace repair, and Phil's had 4 reviews, all 5 stars. I wasn't sure exactly how to describe the issue, so I did my best and sent Phil a photo of the manual by text. I called first thing on a Monday morning, and he arrived right on time for our Thursday morning appointment. He was incredibly clean, and professional. He had a large blanket to put all of the parts on while he disassembled the fireplace to find the issue. When he pulled off the grates, I noticed how dirty they were and said "I should clean these instead of just sitting here watching you." He said "no, that's all part of our service. We treat your fireplace as if it were ours." I think that is really all anyone needs to know. To me customer service and professionalism means a lot, and Phil went the extra mile. Our fireplace simply needed a thermo-coupling, but to replace that, and completely clean and paint our fireplace, essentially making it brand new, we paid $202. That is absolutely wonderful for what we received. I would have thought JUST the service would have been over $200 but no. Phil kept my home clean and when he was done the only evidence was a perfectly working fireplace, which appeared brand new. He took everything out, cleaned every piece thoroughly, and then painted the entire inside of the fireplace; and cleaned the glass. I was shocked as to how easily he cleaned the glass, so he showed me the brand he used and why and told me to buy that and use it every once in awhile to clean. He said one bottle would last a lifetime, and there is no reason to call him to clean it when we can do it ourselves. He also recommended paint for the interior to do to spruce it up. Quite frankly, that showed more professionalism to me, as he is clearly a specialist in what he does and he could have said to call him each year to clean and service it, but instead he said "here you can do this yourself!" Last but not least, Phil told me that ALL of his work is guaranteed for a year. WOW. You just don't find a business that professional who also stands beside their work.
