Philly Restart is run by Adam Bruckner, a former Kixx player/coach, who was featured on the TV show "I Solved A Murder," about the 2004 homicide (which he solved), of a woman he knew through volunteering to help Philly's homeless population. His involvement in this community, as depicted in the show, opened my eyes to his efforts, drew my attention to Philly Restart, and made me want to know what I could do to help.
Philly Restart helps get quality meals to Philadelphia's homeless, as well as IDs, to help them with access to employment and housing.
They meet every Monday at 4 p.m. along the Ben Franklin Parkway near 19th. (The NW corner, between City Hall and the Rocky stairs at the Art Museum).
They do host visiting (drop-in) volunteers, but it helps them plan if you contact them ahead, for more info.
Another worthy cause in PHL for those who have time or money to spend helping others. read more
