I am documenting my experience regarding continuity of care and prescription management. I returned to Dr. Cecchini with a detailed patient statement outlining my treatment needs. Referrals were submitted appropriately with the exception of one of them.However, when it came to maintaining an established and effective treatment plan, I encountered resistance. Despite the medication being previously approved by insurance and clinically effective, I was told I no longer qualified based on current lab values. This overlooks the fact that the improved labs are a direct result of the treatment itself. Discontinuing or blocking access under these circumstances disrupts continuity of care. Additionally, there were concerning communications indicating uncertainty about how the treatment was approved in the first place, which was inappropriate and not patient-centered. I also experienced delays due to authorization errors that required correction. Once identified, the necessary updates were not completed within the expected timeframe, further delaying care. I understand providers are managing heavy workloads and administrative burdens. However, prior authorizations and continuity of care are part of the treatment process. Patients should not have to repeatedly advocate for access to a therapy that is already working. I would strongly encourage clearer communication, accurate handling of authorizations, and a more consistent commitment to maintaining effective treatment plans. read more

It started off well even though the visits are thorough but unecessarily long. My husband lost his sight and ability to drive last summer (after they delayed his medication and eyes hemorrhaged, I don't know if this is their fault or not but it might be). We've been drowning in appointments and care since then finding out his last eye doctor was undertreating him and looking for a new one etc. He had an appointment booked with Dr. Cecchini and I canceled it because it was one of those follow-ups of low importance compared to his eye appointment he needed instead with a new doctor that books months out. After we canceled this appointment, the office refused to refill his routine diabetic medication he's been on for years. I cycled through one after another staff member and each time I called, re-explaining the situation. Some were condescending and then acted as if I was out of line for asking for something simple. Each day I called they would say "He will call back today." Then he wouldn't. I accessed the after hours line and they were upset that I called after hours. Each time, they berated him for canceling that appointment even though he was just seen a couple months prior. They wouldn't even let me make a new appointment just to get a refill, which makes no sense. I talked to the stand-in office manager who was very nice and apologized for the craziness and promised to resolve the situation since he was just seen under the doctor's care. She didn't. After days of trying to get any response, out of desperation for my husband's health, I called the cell phone number of his I had from a year ago that I got from them. The next day, the regular manager called me back and I was excited to finally get a response so my husband could, you know, not have high blood sugar levels or risk of eye hemorrhaging (a lot to ask apparently). But instead, the only purpose of her call was to berate me for calling his cell. They still would not refill his medicine OR offer a new appointment. I was absolutely confused and switched doctors. Then the office sent a letter in the mail dropping my husband from their care because he missed the appointment (which was canceled ahead of time) and for calling his cell phone number which they gave me. They will probably respond to this message putting their own spin on what happened since the whole time they were treating me as if I was asking for an outlandish miracle. We really just wanted the diabetes medicine refill, it was so crazy!! read more

This is more of a review of the office staff in general than of Dr. Cecchini: I've been a patient of Dr Cecchini for about 4-5 years and VERY happy with his care. He correctly diagnosed my occasional headaches as migraine headaches and prescribed Sumatriptan which is 100% effective. Prior to this medication I would sometimes suffer for over 24 hours in severe pain... Last month my pre authorization expired and my pharmacy needed physician approval to refill. I contacted the doctors office and was told they would call in an urgent refill request. Four days passed (at this point I hadn't had any migraines) and no refill authorization. I called the office a second time and this time they said I needed an appointment. So I did- but the soonest appointment available was in 6 weeks. The office said they would authorize one months supply to get me to the appointment. 5 more days passed and still no refill... So I called A THIRD TIME and this time was told I'd possibly need to have lab work. Great, not a problem. Again, crickets from the office regarding lab work approval and emergency refill. At this point I used my insurance teladoc and got a 4 week supply. Needless to say- I found a new primary care physician. Staff at Dr. Cecchini is HORRIBLE and 0 follow up is provided. read more

He was thorough and very honest. We determined my blood pressure was fine after he used 3 devices and got the accurate readings. My home cuff was 10 points high. He gave me excellent referrals and did not ever make me feel rushed. He had concerns but was not condescending about them. I left knowing I had found the right primary care person for me! read more

I have Kaiser insurance and was having issues with them so I went to see another Doctor on my own. I found this place on Google. I met with Dr Philip Cecchini and met with a very nice nurse named Maria. I paid out of pocket for my appointment but they were able to provide me with information I was looking for that Kaiser was unable to provide. I would definitely return. Thank you! read more

Horrible! Dr. Phillip Cecchini is our primary care physician (my daughter and I ). We have only seen him twice. The first time he was informative and nice. Fast forward to October 2019 and my daughter (17yrs old) had broke her back. Literally a bilateral pars fracture which is unstable to this day Feb 2020. She can not sit longer than 2-5 mins without the pain increasing and most days it is a 7-9 or 10/10. Her best positions are laying down or standing. So today we see Dr. Cecchini and he ridicules her that she does not have 10/10 pain and literally said that a 10/10 pain is having both your arms and legs cut off with a CHAINSAW.... and he exaggerated with acting like he is holding a chainsaw....arms swaying and legs wobbly. What a jerk!!! He continued with his charade... hurting her feelings and she was crying . When he finally left he room she was crying harder than ever. She and I were shocked! I only had Dr. Cecchini as my GP for about two years, because I moved away, but he always was very knowledgeable, thorough, and caring. He spent a lot of time explaining and talking to me about whatever I was in his office for, which is a rarity for doctors these days. I also saw a couple of other doctors in his office and they were good too. Nice and helpful office staff, as well. If I hadn't had to move to Bakersfield, I'd have kept him as my doctor. read more
