This is a very exacting procedure involving cutting planing, drilling and reeming all at precise angles and with very tight tolerances; then meeting up two implants in 3D space with no room for error. After 7 weeks I have twice the range of motion I had pre-surgery and no pain. Due to the great care taken in closing the incision I have minimal scarring. I am BTW no young athlete. We had a particularly unique and difficult situation when our 35-year-old son with special needs had a traumatic fall and broke his nose in two places in October 2024. His nose was visibly smashed and his breathing was badly impacted. He ultimately needed a rhinoplasty and septoplasty. After an initial consultation with another ENT left him frightened and unwilling to consider surgery, we spent nearly a year searching for a surgeon with both exceptional skill and genuine compassion. Dr. Leslie Irvine lived up to our expectations in every way! Dr. Irvine put our son so much at ease that he requested the surgery himself. He went into the hospital in an amazingly optimistic frame of mind, even during pre-op. His recovery was easier than expected, though understandably uncomfortable until the stents were removed a week later. His surgery was in October 2025, but I waited four months to write this review so we could see the results after most of the swelling resolved. We are amazed with the results! His nose looks fantastic, his breathing is greatly improved and this procedure has helped him regain his confidence. We were so impressed with Dr. Irvine's skill that six weeks ago I underwent an in-office procedure with her called VivAer to improve my own breathing. It took only about 20 minutes, strengthened my nasal walls, reduced my turbinates, and required no downtime at all. My breathing is dramatically better, I'm sleeping more soundly and exercising feels easier. We feel extremely fortunate to have found Dr. Irvine and could not recommend her more highly. I was referred to her by the Doctor from the Hoag ER who checked me out. She was very nice, understanding and very helpful in everything she checked my eye and nose out. On my 2nd visit she referred me to an Eye Specialist and then she took care of my fractured nose by realigning it back to as close as she could. She was awesome talked me through everything she is very knowledgeable and has a calm soothing voice. Thank you to Dr Leslie Irvine for taking care of me.

First time, I saw Dr Ahn in late Oct 2025, I was so impressed so happy to hear about how awesome, kind and caring he was. I had 3 pieces in my left side of left wrist broken bones/cartilage. No surgery yet due to inflammation. Dr Ahn recommend Rheumatoid Arthritis Dr. So I went to RA Dr, he gave me RA meds said take for 3 mths - I made appt with Ahn's office Feb19, 2026. I go back to Dr Ahn and I was so happy to get the ball rolling. Got phone call day b4 my appt - my HMO insurance ran out???!! What?! Why didn't you tell me when I made my appt in late Nov?! Your computers tell you how long my insurance is covered for. I know because that's how the drs get paid!! So I had to get another referral, finally went back April 13, 2026. So excited to finally get my surgery scheduled. Office staff was nice. Dr Ahn didn't remember me, so I proceeded to tell him what was going on, he basically stopped me and told me that according to his records that my pain was on the right side of my left wrist?! Tried to tell him NO the pain I feel is still on the left side has NEVER been on the right. He told me that because I was in pain that I probably don't remember??!! WTF!!? I don't remember!! Dude!! I came to you, I lived by what you had said to me the first visit because I was in pain and according to my recommendations you were the best hand surgeon in the South Bay!!! Plus the first time, Dr Ahn was attentive, he listened, he was quite caring about my situation and he looked at me and smiled! I felt like this is it! I'm in great hands lol no pun intended. The second visit, he hardly made any eye contact, only read and looked at his notes, not really listening to my words, he also had chapped lips and dry mouth, he seemed impatient and had other things on his mind?! He offered to give a cortisol shot which I reluctantly agreed to but I swear he must have jabbed it in because it hurt so bad that at that moment if my hand wasn't already gripping the table top because I hate shots, I might have punch his smug face in!!! It was like Dr Jekyll, Mr Hyde!! I understand if you're having bad day but treating patients like they don't know anything??!! Sorry but that's not right. I left crying because I was SO mad! Now I'm sad that I have to research to find another orthopedic hand specialist in the South Bay area. I pray for Dr Ahn, that he will find his love and joy of being a good and kind doctor and orthopedic hand specialist again! Lol or at least drink more water! And if you're having a hectic day, just take a breath and just put yourself in your patient's shoes, treat people the way you would like to be treated!!! Just be kind. It goes a long way and as a patient - I would rather wait for my doctor and have him treat me well then like in a hurry to get me out of there or visa versa!?
