I enjoyed the food here- great flavor and excellent serving size! Sweet and helpful staff as well! Will totally come here regularly now. Reminds me of my trip in the phillipines :))

This place is located inside of a Filipino grocery store. I will say, for the most part, this place is consistent. The service is mediocre. They will give you large portions but rarely are they smiling. Half the time they have an ear bud in their ears. Inside is busy, but again it's a grocery store. Air conditioning is nice but it gets loud during the busy time. The food is decent. That's all about timing as are most places like this. You show up during the lunch hour, food will be hot and fresh. Show up after or top early, not so much. Overall: this place is 3 stars. A decent quick bite if you're in a rush, but not my first "go to".

My go to for lunch in Long Beach . It's Amazing you have to try the Wednesday special you will thank me.

The long line on Wednesdays is because there's a promo, BOGO, and that's why the line is long. The food is average and just conveniently located near my house.

I revisited Pillshouse inside Island Pacific Seafood Market recently, reminiscing about the awesome food I had years ago. Unfortunately, this time around, my experience was mixed. We opted for grilled fish and barbecue grilled chicken sticks, both of which showed promise in flavor but fell short in execution. While the chicken sticks could have been cooked longer for a better texture, they still delivered decent taste. However, the disappointment came with the eggrolls and fried chicken. The eggrolls were soggy, cold, and lacked the desired crunch, while the fried chicken, despite boasting great flavor, arrived disappointingly cold, took the enjoyment out of the food. Despite the enticing display behind the glass, our food failed to live up to expectations, arriving cold and consequently lacking in enjoyment. While I would be willing to give Pillshouse another chance and explore different menu options, the inconsistency in food temperature and quality leaves much to be desired. Customer service was great The cashier was just wonderful. There is dining table for you to eat inside or take food to go. My total came up to $33.04 not bad

Before I go shopping at a Filipino mkt, I try to eat at the deli first. This practice allows me to indulge in Flip food that is not prevalent in HB. It also prevents me from buying too much. This PhilHouse is located inside the LBC Island Pacific, similar to the set up in Lake Forest. They offer a lot of hot items inc goat, and their popular combo is two bbq skewers (chicken or pork), w/ rice, pancit or half & half and one side dish. The items we had were very good. The pork skewers (sorry, no pic) were nicely seasoned and the meat was tender. The rice & pancit portion was enuf for two, and the sinigang we had as a side was tart, and inc a pompano head. Lastly, the lechon kawali was crispy and the meat was moist. The staff was nice and there is a small area to enjoy your food. But a rec to help sell more items, and to get the line moving faster is to label the items, and have a menu that tells you what sides are inc in the combo. The person helping us assembled the bbq skewers portion of our meal. But then he disappeared. The cashier was left to fill our lechon order. We would have ordered more had there been dedicated staff to fill the other sides we were interested in. All in all, a positive experience that would make me return. I think the LBC Island Pacific will be my go to for Flip foodstuffs bc it is so conveniently located off the 405.

First time trying Filipino food -- I don't remember what I got, but it was really good!! I'll definitely be coming back!

Really good, definitely coming back! For my first time trying Filipino food, it was a good experience. I ate everything in the picture.

Delicious and nutritious, I ordered a variety of items during their buy one get one free day and my family was able to enjoy. I hope they can open around Harbor City, maybe at that old Rite Aid in front of Kaiser Hospital.

The fried rice tastes not good without no garlic. The serve gave us paper towel instead of napkins cause they were ran out of napkins

Nostagiaaaa from the actual texture! Calamansi loaf- fave because it tastes good overall , but lacked calamansi flavor or tartness from the calamansi juice I guess Ube pandesal- I used to get this 3 times a week- just tastes like regular pandesal with a small slice of Cheez. Again, zero ube flavor Regular pandesal- can't go wrong here. Bibingka- decent. Doesn't have the traditional chewiness of bibingka, but just okay in actual flavor. I doctored mine up with slices of Cheezewhiz and salted egg at home. I think the names of the pastries are deceiving because they lack the actual flavor that they're named after. Stopped coming because I felt like I was just paying $20 per visit for something sweet that didn't have depth in flavors. Also, after reading the clap backs from the owner on IG/Yelp reviews towards other patrons, it has turned me off and made me more hesitant to support her business. The guy though (sorry I don't know his name) is always at the counter and super nice!

My wife, her mom, and I stopped in for lunch and we really enjoyed it. My wife and I had stopped into Edna's a long time ago when we first moved to Long Beach, so it was time for a refresher. My wife and her mom shop at the nearby Tambuli for Asian groceries, so knew the parking wouldn't be too difficult in this part of town. The steam tables were jam packed with food, freshly prepared that morning, and there were some things I had not tried before. Thus, was nice to come with other folks. It took me a while to decide. The first steam table had 9 entrees: - Mom wanted Pinakbet which she later stated was good. - large strips of Lechon were chopped for you when ordered, and was a good addition to share. - other dishes included Kambing (available everyday), Pinapaitan, and Kaldereta (made with goat so we skipped it). The second steam table had 10 entrees: - Adobong Pusit - baby squid with adobo and squid ink sauce. I've come to realize that most Filipino restaurants don't have the time to remove the innards (guts and cartilage, which I've found to be inedible) while keeping the ink sacs, as they cook it. So I did it manually while eating, making this a finger food dish (very messy). Went great with the white rice, though. Mom made a good point that some folks consider it edible, similar to the shell of shrimps. - also chose the sinigang with pompano, since bangus was only available deep fried. Every entree with come with a cup of the soup, but if ordered as a choice, will come with a choice of fish piece (head, middle, or tail). The soup was good, very sour (which is how I like it) and not oily. -- final choice was Chicharon Bulaklak, deep fried pork intestines using the fatty mesentery tissues, to produce a flowery looking finger food. It came in a paper bag. It was the first time I tried it, and I liked it, though too greasy to have more than one piece. -- other choices were deep fried bangus, deep fried smelt, boiled peanuts, and a decent selection of sweet rice flour desserts. The ladies manning the steam tables were very friendly, and were receptive when I asked for a sample of the fried smelt dish. Servings were generous, and often came in separate soup containers to make eating easier. There is a large dining room with simple seating, and self bussing. It's a tried-and-true set-up that works well at other point-point places (so many in the area). Ended up getting two 2-combo plates ($14 each), served with white rice. Added 1/3 pound of Lechon Kawali for $6.48, which we all shared. In general the food was good, in large quantities, and presented with pride. Canned refrigerated sodas are only $1, so got cans of Sprite, Sunkist, and Squirt (maybe my favorite mass produced soda of all time).
