At first I was hesitant to go here because my insurance isn't local and I wanted the eye to heal on it's own. Boy, am I glad I changed my mind. Their prices were very reasonable (I paid $55 without insurance to save my vision) and they squeezed me in last minute. I had no wait and they were very welcoming. The doctor really went out of the way to get to know me and understand my problems.The pain I suffered was due to an ulcer on my cornea. He immedietely prescribed me an antibiotic and educated me on this issue. I was seen just before the holiday and was squeezed in for a follow-up right before the Thanksgiving to ensure I was healing quickly and properly. In short: if you are in doubt, go here! These two visits have been nothing but a great experience (not bad, considering I was in a lot of pain before I went in!)

The review from two years ago from the patient who was blind-sided by the charges was not my experience at all; in fact, I received a text the day before my appointment informing me of all of charges, and what my co-pay would be. I always find choosing glasses stressful, but did not feel rushed or pressured in the least by the optical staff. There is not a huge selection, but what they have is quality. When I said it was hard for me to see what I looked like in the different frames without my prescription glasses, Dr. Schechter overheard and said he would give me some contacts so I could see better. This was really helpful. Also, before he turned me over to the optical staff, he handed me a pair of glasses he thought were a good choice for me, and these ended up being the ones my husband liked best on me (he had come along to pick his own glasses). I was told me single vision lenses began at $88. I said I knew that my single vision lenses began at $0. They told me insurance companies lie to clients, but they had the true information. I told them I was sure of my coverage, and if there was a discrepancy, I would just stick with the exam, and get my lenses/frames somewhere else. When I was sent back to the exam room, the doctor and receptionist were audibly discussing why I had declined purchasing frames. When I checked out, they told me my routine eye exam was $64. I told them I knew my coverage and it was $0. They told me insurance often tells clients and doctors different things. I told them I was positive. They "looked again" and said, "oh you're right". Well, in that case... we took ocular imagining, and that will be $32. When I scheduled the appointment, I said I only wanted a routine eye exam. I said I was not informed that that was happening nor did I approve the charge, so they told me, no problem, no charge. Then, months later, I received a bill for $25. When checkout was complete, I was told I would receive my vision prescription a few days later. I had to fight and fight for it and the doctor refused to provide it, which felt retaliatory. When I threatened further action, I was sent a prescription. I used it to buy new frames/lenses elsewhere, and the prescription is blatantly wrong, which again, feels retaliatory. AVOID this fraud at all costs!!
