When I arrived for my first appointment with Dr. Roat at this office, the first and only thing I saw through the glass doors to the suite was the optical store. I understand that this is quite common; however I work in a helping profession myself and am very turned off by medical practices that feature commercial products. I want to be confident that my providers have no conflicts of interest.

Today, my experience with her was completely different. She was smiling, friendly, and very sweet. At first, I actually wondered if she was the same person I'd been dealing with over the past several months. She looks like a completely different person when she smiles! I hadn't realized how pretty she is until today. It was such a nice change from my previous experience, and I really appreciated her kindness.

There was one woman at the front desk who was not very nice. I went to the desk and she just sat down. She didnt acknowledge that I was there and I waited for a bit without her even looking at me. Honestly it was a little rude but maybe she is busy... thats fine. But later on while I was waiting in the waiting room, I saw the same woman speak really nasty to an elder gentleman who was just asking her a question. Because she was speaking down to him and yelling at him, he yelled back and it ended up being a little scene. I will be back because the rest of my experience was really positive but if I was spoke to the way that gentleman was, I probably wouldnt. I want to say again, the doctors we saw here were phenomenal and the women that we saw before the doctor came in were also really great.

This policy was never disclosed--not during scheduling, not in reminders, and not in the patient registration or financial agreement. They had already verified my insurance, knew my exact co-pay, and I even offered to pay it upfront. Still, they refused to let me see the doctor. I've never experienced this with any provider before. This made me lose all trust in their billing practices. If they mishandle a claim or insurance rejects something, I have no doubt they'd just charge the card without doing the proper follow-up. In today's environment of healthcare data breaches, requiring a card on file with no limits or opt-out is not just unsafe--it's unethical. If they treat new patients like this before the first exam, imagine what happens after. I would not recommend this office to anyone

I mentioned I'm happy to pay with credit card but I'm not providing this on paper. What is this 1980? Walked out and submitted a security complaint for the office. The time before this, I came in for an eye test with a nurse who was clearly sick and coughing all over the place and sneezing. She refused to wear a mask so I told her I was uncomfortable with her being that close to my face with no mask. Overall, will never go back here and do not recommend this place to anyone.
