Not only that but I was on the phone with them for about 40 of the 52 weeks during the year. And they never assisted me with anything. They sold me a lemon. I hate giving this review as this is a very clean, nice dealership full of friendly people. But I've had now multiple experiences of being upcharged with service. I'm in Boynton right now. My gym is in Boca. Used lighthouse for oil changes at first. They were close to my gym. This dealership was very affordable with all their online coupons for regular service. Quick and good service. As for estimates and getting car checked out beyond, different story. Multiple times of being told I need things done that don't need to be done marked "urgent". Advisor admitted to me first time some are based on miles (then don't write "urgent" maybe to those?). First time I went in for an oil change and had over $4000 in 'needed' repairs on a text soon after. Got fixed at Kia Delray for less than half. Maybe more. Don't remember exactly. Each time it's been a combination of not needing something at all, Phil Smith Kia suggesting a new part and it actually just being fixable (with no option of recommending that), and prices being higher in general. Which is odd to me, expecting Delray to be more based on cost of living. This past week, I paid for an inspection, leary of this again. But no choice because West Palm and Delray outsource doing the same thing to local body shops. I wanted an actual Kia starting baseline. The estimate was TRIPLE, literally, what I ended up paying. One major part not even needing fixing or replacement that was over 1300 PLUS labor. A part was over 30% more for the same EXACT part. And didn't include labor here vs the cheaper price that included labor at Delray. This blows my mind at two less than 30 minute apart Kia dealerships. It's a shame, because customer service wise - not really a bad experience. But trying to rip off customers telling them they need to repaint the whole car so to speak for a scratch is inexcusable. Use caution. If you just need an oil change or minor servicing, I'd honestly probably go back. But for an estimate or extensive work, get a second opinion and use extreme caution. If the customer doesn't know anything about a broke car then they will sell it to you that way. If you know about cars then you would laugh at these idiots and walk out. Low ball you hoping you don't have access to the internet. I was offered 6k more online and yes online would have bought my car and picked it up, I've done it multiple times online and with the local large car buyer we all know. Phil smith isn't interested in easy. They are also starting their purchase offers with a 5k markup. Yes Kia is a nice brand....but....really 5k? Now that car was rear ended looking for a new car this time they have the car but list it for 35k and when you get in the store put a 6k increase on there car and say that's what it's selling for this dealership is a joke and warn all to stay away. I WANT TO SPEAK TO MICHAEL DAYHOFF NOW! I bought a brand new 2019 Kia Niro LX on Sunday April 7th 1:30pm (papers signed key in hand). Monday morning 7am the check engine light came on and a light saying HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE came on as well. The diagnostic feature of the car said the Motor Control Unit was faulty. I took the car immediately to Phil Smith Kia the moment they opened 9am and told them i wanted to return the car or exchange it and they refused. They said they were going to service it. Today i found out from the stores's mechanic that the part that needs replacing is the whole hybrid charging system. The hybrid processing unit. A MAJOR COMPONENT OF THE ENGINE. I went back in and spoke to KAREL and told him i was not going to accept a NEW car with a REBUILT HYBRID SYSTEM. THAT INFORMATION GOES ON THE CARFAX AND MY CAR AUTOMATICALLY DROPS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN VALUE AND I HAD IT LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I demanded a replacement or a refund. HE REFUSED. Said his general manager told him they couldn't do that. He told me i had to take it up with Kia and this was THEIR PROBLEM. I want the PRESIDENT of the company to contact me so we can RESOLVE this is the RIGHT way. I was referred here by a long time customer who bought brand new cars for herself and her two children. She is currently mortified that I am being treated this way. I brought my car to Phil Smith Kia on Friday 7/14 to be serviced, specifically for an oil change, tire rotation, and to diagnose an issue with the A/C. The car was kept there overnight as the service department was unable to diagnose the A/C issue same day, despite having the car all day. On Saturday 7/15, just before 2:00pm, I was informed that the A/C issue would require a part that was back-ordered and possibly unavailable, and was told that I could pick up the car. I told the service tech that I would be there shortly. I arrived at around 2:30pm, and was told that the oil change and tire rotation had not been done yet. So I waited, and was checked out around 3:15. About 2 minutes after I left I noticed that the LCD screen in the center dash was severely damaged, to the point that the entire center of the display is barely readable (red digital bleed across the entire center of the display). The LCD was perfectly fine when I dropped the vehicle off. I tried to contact my service tech immediately and texted a picture of the damage, but I did not receive (and still have not received) a response. As soon as I got home I reached out to them and requested a callback from the service manager. I did not receive a callback. On Monday I requested an update and a callback, and I received neither. Same thing on Tuesday, at which point I was told that the service manager was unavailable and that I would get a callback. It took several more calls to the service department before I received a callback, 1 week later. On that call the service manager told me that the LCD could not have been damaged by them, and that it was due to "Florida heat" (Note: this car has been in "Florida heat" since 2010 with 0 issues with the LCD. Also note that the AC control unit that they were diagnosing is right below the LCD). Again the LCD was in perfect condition when I dropped it off, and within 24 hours at this dealership it was ruined. The service manager said that there was nothing they could do, but they offered to try to find a replacement part "to help me out" (procurement and installation were not offered for free, which would have been an acceptable offer to resolve the situation). It has been over a month since that call and I have heard nothing from them regarding either the LCD or the AC, nor do I expect to. I ended up replacing both parts at my own expense. In past visits to this service department I have experienced minor inconveniences ("It will be done in 30 minutes" really means "It will be done in 2 - 3 hours, maybe", or the time they broke my antenna following a car wash, etc.), but the actual service was always competent so I kept going back. No more. Between the lack of customer service and the gaslighting this dealership will never get another dime from me. I was planning on trading my car in there for a new Kia SUV within the next year, but not now. I will be going to competitor. read more

My mother brought her 2014 Kia Forte in last week. The radio stopped working for no apparent reason. She was there for 3 1/2 hours and when they gave her the car back all they could say was "they couldn't fix it" and handed her a quote for a new $900 radio. They also removed the antenna cover and did not reaffix it back on. She noticed when she returned home. I left a message for Edson on Friday. Haven't received a call back. My mom called 3 times since and no one has the courtesy to call her back to replace the antenna cap they removed. Is this supposed to be considered courteous service and honesty? It has been 3 days since leaving a message for the manager. No call back. The employees follow a manger's lead so now I know why no one has called me or my mother back. I went to the dealership to take a look at a car that I saw online for an exceptional price. My plan was to see if I like the car first, then I was going to CarMax to sell my car and use the equity as a down payment. The salesman told me that they were giving really good money on trade-ins and I should at least get an idea of whether that was a better way to go. When the sales manager told me the price of the car, he included a "market adjustment fee" of nearly $3k! On a PRE-OWNED CAR! I felt a sudden need to go home and take a shower, so I left. After my family has purchased 3 or more cars from Phil Smith Kia, I could not be more disappointed in the customer service we recieved recently. 5/29/21 took 2011 Kia Sorento in for service, recieved a curtesy car wash. 5/30/21 Our neighbor notices that our antenna is missing from the roof of our car. 6/3/21 We take the car in and tell the service dept that we lost our antenna during the free car wash. Phil Smith Kia took no responsibilty and gave us a quote for $1022.49 to have it replaced. Look we are 74 yrs old, our 2011 Kia has less than 50,000 miles, we are not speeding through parking garages with low roofs, and we never go to car washes, we wash the car ourselves. Told me they'd give me a full tank of gas, left the lot on E, said they "didn't have the gas tokens on site but that they'd get one the next time I came in". I fought with them every time I was there for way over a month after I got it just to get someone to honor that. My mom tried to get involved.. got a manager involved.. all for a piece of paper that anyone could have written for the gas station across the street.... They also told me after an oil change once that my car "didn't come with an engine cover"... then when I pointed out that I'm not blind and I've seen it before with one - which is why I was pointing it out, they "went upstairs to check for extra bits / parts that sometimes get left behind during oil changes".. came back and said they didn't find it... well, if it didn't come with one and you were solid on that fact, what exactly did you just go looking for?? And now that I've called you on your BS, why aren't you dealing with giving me a new one? They never replaced the engine cover. Also, this car fell apart within a year (a brand new car, barely 60 miles on it), replaced it. I swore I would never ever buy another Kia because of this, but seeing all the bad reviews, perhaps it's just the "Phil Smith" group. Forced me into having a signer (fine) but still ended up with me paying $400+ each month for it. Avoid this dealership at all costs. They will add thousands and thousands of dollars to the MSRP at the last moment and then talk down to you for not wanting to take that "deal." Been researching the Telluride, went online to the build area found the trim I liked. Showed me that car was at Phil Smith. Did the price quote, worked out to $344/month with my credit and desired down payment, etc. Test drive the car, confirm the MSRP THREE times at 35k. Sit down to discuss numbers, salesman goes and talks to finance guy. Comes back and says it'll be about $650 a month...or double my expectations. When I inquire why, it's because his money guy is adding $5k+ to every Telluride at the end. At $60 to $70 / month per $1000, that accounts for the now DOUBLED price we had expected. Could have lived with that disappointment...politely said no thank you. If I wanted to pay for a Mercedes Benz, I'd get one. As I'm putting my car in reverse (with my family inside!) finance guy comes sprinting out the door runs up and knocks on my window. When I ask him what he wants, he asks me "what the hell is wrong with you? You knew that we were charging $5k extra from the phone.." well I never called and certainly never talked to anyone on the phone. Then he went on to insult my knowledge and understanding of business and gloated about how he had charged an earlier customer $10k more than the sticker price so I should feel "lucky!'' Bufford, my beloved 1997 Two Door Tahoe Sport, had lead a hard life in the oil patch of Western Pennsylvania running up and down the muddy lease roads to the various oil fracking sites. It served me well over the years and if GM still made them I would have bought another one but they don't. Also, now being in winter and snow free Florida along with recent improvements of remote roadways, such as the Loop Road, into Florida's more desolate location and the ban or limitations of off roading in Holely Lands, I now had little need for a second vehicle with 4 wheel low casing off road capabilities; hence the hunt was on to replace Bufford with another vehicle. I really detest car dealerships with all of their notorious scamming, wheeling dealing and other less than pleasant experiences one is confronted with submitting yourself to the evils of their sales departments. However, in a;; fairness to dealerships, I also have known it to be a two way street wherein the consumers are often out to cheat the dealerships. Once, while a friend of mine went on vacation and had me operate his dealership in his absence, I remember quoting a trade in value on a truck. The trade in truck was brought in after my quote and after my friend had returned who then excitedly phoned me asking what drug I had been on because I had way over quoted the value of the vehicle in question. Going back to the dealership to see what he was talking about I found that the customer truck, when brought in for final trade, was nothing like it was when I had quoted its value. Fortunately I had the pictures to prove it. Between the time of the quote and the trade in, the wheel rims had been changed, what were tires with good tread had been switched out for near bald ones, floor mates had been removed, the spare tire and jack were missing and to top all of that off a premium camper cap was now missing. Hence, it was nowhere near the value it had been when I had seen it and quoted it. A nice try by a devilish customer, but with the pictures as proof, no luck, it didn't work. Anyway while car shopping I went to several dealerships, experienced the typical bickering, nonsense, fooling around & etc. which was why I was rather pleased to find Phil Smith Kia and my salesman, Ron. Overall, they treated me pretty darn good, nothing all that special, but straight up fair without any game playing, hence we quickly arrived at a simple easy deal ending me up behind the wheel of a rather decent used Kia Soul; ideal for my use as a second vehicle, hauling my camping, hunting, fishing equipment and other things around or just going to the beach with my coolers, chairs and umbrellas. read more

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!! STAY AWAY!!! My husband and I went in with cash to buy a car and we did not want to pay more than 35k. The sales rep told us we could get a 41k car for 35k if we leased it first as there was a manufacturer's rebate for leasing for 6500. We agreed to this with a downpayment of 13k because we knew we were going to buy the car or we would have never put down 13k!!! Now we want to buy it and we are told that the buyout price is not 35k minus all that we paid, but instead what they feel like the car is worth which is 8 thousand dollars more!!!! None of the people work there anymore so they claim they can't hold anyone accountable and they weren't there when the conversation was happening. My husband and I are both math majors and we did the math FOUR TIMES WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE to ensure the final buyout price was what we had left on the car. Now the manager Devin just said sorry you should have read your contract it's in there. I specifically asked the question "how much do we pay at the end" several times!!! We wrote it all down on our paperwork! The representative NEVER showed us the residual value number which means kia priced the car worth way more than we had left paying towards the car. I am disgusted all round and will make sure to tell everyone I know, through every social media outlet never to visit this location because their staff blatantly scammed us to get a sale! I would have just bought my car outright and left like I wanted to but instead I am having to pay a price way higher than what I owe! How unethical and no empathy from this company!! Stay away!!!!!! Also I was calling to get ahold of Devin for days now and leaving messages and today Lauren said to me in the most condescending tone..."I don't know who you are leaving messages for but he doesn't have a voice-mail", come to find out he does and he was getting my messages. We bought our Kia Soul at this location. Everyone is very friendly. We've brought the car back for maintenance. I've never had to wait too long. They're not pushy about getting every service done and their prices are reasonable. My ONLY complaint is the bathrooms do not have a changing table. Nothing sucks more than changing a baby on the wet bathroom counter under those automatic soap dispensers. Waiting here for hours with a baby would be nice if they made it easy and added a baby changing station. read more

I called to make an inquiry about a vehicle and spoke with "Neal." I introduced myself as Chris, not "boss." I asked some questions about the vehicle history, he became irritated when things didn't line up. He hung up on me. I CB and asked to speak with Sales Manager, same guy gets on the phone. Neal is the Sales Manager..not a good sign. I introduced myself as CHRIS..again and told him we just spoke. The car report I read indicated the vehicle had a FLOOD DAMAGE TITLE, which means the vehicle was a total loss. Insurance companies will only value a car at 25% of the vehicles value. That's about $2500, after the flood damage. Phil Smith Kia sold the car 4 times!! Two times in 2014, 1x in 2016 and again in March of 2020. Why does it keep returning? I guess the customers did not know until they arrived at the DMV and were given a Flood damage title....not cool. That is not full disclosure and appears very unethical. Neal, who hung up on me twice and kept reffering to me as "boss' was extremely rude. I wanted information about the vehicle and attempted to be a customer armed with information and skilled at negotiating. He said all the information on the Carfax report was inaccurate. He said they got it on a trade a few months ago. Then he said it's been here a year, then he said it caim from an auction. I was willing to negotiate a fair price and take my chances. He must have lied 5 times within a 2 minute conversation. He hung up on me again! Perhaps Neal should consider attending some anger management classes and refresh his customer service skills. STAY AWAY FROM NEAL AND THIS DEALERSHIP AS LONG THEY PROMOTE PEOPLE LIKE NEAL AND PRACTICE BAD BUSINESS ETHICS AND NEAL WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. The service representative told me " Your car will be ready within ten minutes!" I heard that same line 4 times over the span of 90 minutes. All your department had to do was check the "Check Engine Light" and then went on some rant that it was my fault the light went on because the gas light came on, which really made me, one of your customers feel like a POS and an idiot, so thanks... I can try to understand the need for a double warning on the car but what I don't understand is that I was not only invalidated as a customer because your team lied to me and wasted my time. Also, when i tried to schedule an appointment, your team was very dismissive and blasé over the phone which is just poor business practices. I explicitly gave a time when I would be arriving and they said "Yeah just come on in" only to make me feel more at fault when an associate critically responded " You should've made an appointment" then left the area. This was a terrible customer service experience overall and I will be reconsidering bringing my car back to Phil Smith KIA.
