CRU-MM is one of those places. I remember that I was looking for an aesthetician at the time, and I was very impressed with CRU'MM's marketing materials and results. So I made an appointment for a facial and had a good experience overall. I remember Regina being very kind, her salon being very calming (with free snacks), and the facial itself being very good (notwithstanding a nasty acne bump I had on my face at the time). I have no complaints about the facial itself. The only reason I give the experience 4 (instead of 5) stars is because I remember a few things that were less than ideal. First, there is not clear communication about the exact location of the salon within the building, so that leads to unnecessary confusion after you arrive. Also, if I recall correctly, Regina was running a bit behind on the day I went, so I recall having to sit in a small waiting area while waiting for my appointment to finally start. There was one other couple there, and they were watching some kind of raunchy video on speaker. So it was not a relaxing or edifying experience before the facial began. Thankfully, the energy was very different inside Regina's salon once my appointment actually got started. In sum, I only visited once. But I had a good experience overall. Although it was not convenient enough of a location for me to continue going (such that I eventually found an amazing black aesthetician in Bethesda that I've been using for all these many years), I would still recommend that anyone in the Lanham area check CRU-MM out!

My current esthetician is Nichole W., and I truly can't recommend her enough. She has made significant improvements to my skin, especially to acne, which I have struggled with for decades, and some aging. I do purchase the products she recommends, because my goal is to have long-term skin improvement. However, I have noticed that Nichole is mindful that people have varying financial situations and is helpful in choosing products to prioritize in the event I'm not able to buy them all at once. I wish I could have come here during my teenage years, because at that time I took every acne medication under the sun and saw minimal improvements, while Bespoke has been able to heal my skin and keep it healthy. Beyond the skincare, I want to highlight Nichole's kindness and the way she genuinely cares for her clients. On at least two occasions I've had an appointment after going through some major life challenge and each time Nichole listened as I told her what I was going through and made my facial a place to escape everything that was going on. She also helped ensure the products I was using were appropriate for the situation I was in at the time. Here's what our feedback was to the establishment since they asked, and I decided to share here in case it's helpful to anyone thinking about going here: "The overall experience was disappointing and did not meet the standards expected of a professional wellness or spa environment. The walk between buildings felt awkward and disjointed, and the areas where services were provided were visibly unclean. This immediately detracted from the sense of calm and comfort that clients typically seek when booking spa services. The sauna instructions were overly complicated and nonintuitive. Rather than supporting a seamless, stress-free experience, the setup required unnecessary effort and attention at a time when guests should be able to arrive, decompress, and enjoy the service. One of the facials was particularly concerning. The provider fell out of her chair during the session, left the room for approximately 15 minutes within the allotted service time, and complained openly about missing supplies that had not been ordered. Her presentation and behavior appeared impaired or otherwise not fully attentive, which was alarming in a setting where professionalism, focus, and client safety are expected. There were also sanitation concerns. Gloves were not worn during the sessions- in particular extractions & close facial work, which raised hygiene and safety questions. Given the nature of skincare treatments and direct contact with facial areas, adherence to clear sanitation protocols is critical. Both facials were performed below expected standards. Product application felt careless rather than intentional for both clients. Creams were applied in a manner that resulted in product entering the nostril area for both clients. In one instance, the technician had to awkwardly clean the inside of a nostril during the service, which was unexpected and uncomfortable (and something never experienced prior). In the other facial, cream entered the nostril and remained there throughout the session, creating concern about inhalation; the client ultimately had to clean it out herself after the session. This experience was distracting and far from relaxing. Additionally, massage and sculpting techniques reflected a noticeable lack of refinement and training, particularly for clients accustomed to higher-quality services. Overall, the experience lacked attentiveness, professionalism, cleanliness, and the level of care expected in a premium setting."
