He even repainted them in a color so close to the original, it's pretty much indistinguishable to my very picky eye. His work was careful and innovative -- it was a really difficult repair -- and he left the place completely tidy. Dann also rebuilt our back outdoor stairs and did a tidy, solid job of it. His rates are reasonable and he's quick, a great communicator and easy to be around. We recommended Dan to a friend who needed some fairly extensive work done in her kitchen and she said his work was excellent and he was a joy to have around (she works at home).

The contracting was extremely professional - having worked with several other contractors on prior projects on my property, I can say Jim at Double J sets the bar very high for professionalism, and I wish the other contractors would attempt to reach that same bar. Prior to the beginning of work, Jim gave us a spreadsheet detailing what would be done by who and when. Throughout the work, he communicated with us frequently advising us what was happening and what would be done next. He worked with us all the way through, helping us make the necessary decisions that we needed to make and purchase the things that we agreed to purchase. Jim works with a group of small, family owned subcontractors who have the same work ethic as Jim. They all were fantastic. The work was great, finished on time and in budget. Don's bid was competitive, and his communication was much better than the other contractors. I had a design with floorplans, but there was a lot of details that had to be worked out. Don was easy to work with and provided excellent advice. Weather wreaked havoc on Don's project calendar in early 2023 and he had to juggle projects. My project didn't have a tight deadline, so I did him a favor by agreeing to push my project out several months. Don repaid that favor and then some. It was a verbal agreement, not a change order to the contract, and he was a man of his word. We've built two houses in the last 25 years. This barn was not our first rodeo. Stuff happens (or as Roseanne Rosannadanna often said, "it's always something"). Because of that, you want someone you can rely on. Don Raines was great to work with and we love the results. Highly recommend Raines Construction Services for pole building projects.

My first complaint with Mr. Raines and Raines Construction is regarding lack of time management. My…read morebarn was projected to finish within four months. The construction crew broke ground in June, and by December of the same year, the barn was approximately 65% completed, per the barn kit manufacturer's estimate. Secondly, Mr. Raines did not sufficiently assess the blueprints before providing me with a contract. As a result, Mr. Raines underbid the project and then later attempted to pass cost overruns to me (despite the contract being a fixed-bid contract), claiming that I had made changes to the original design. Additional details which were communicated to him directly from the kit manufacturer regarding the proper storage of material were ignored. Storage of building materials outside, coupled with the increased time to complete the project, resulted in approximately $38,000 of wood damage once the weather turned. My final and most costly complaint is with regards to the quality of work done. I believe the project for which I hired him was outside the scope and capabilities of his crew, both in terms of the complexity of the design and time to complete. Mr. Raines inaccurately represented his abilities to me when I hired him for this project. As a result, there is approximately $200,000 worth of repair/rework that still needs to be completed, including replacining a leaking roof, adding rebar to cracked concrete floors, restaining the exterior to protect from weather damage, rehanging uneven stall doors, and additional excavating costs to divert water away from the foundation. Ultimately, Mr. Raines refused to continue working on the project after I declined to cover his overrun costs, leading to a lawsuit which has taken three years to resolve and personally cost me over $32,000 in legal fees, as well as a barn that is damaged, poorly constructed, and has significant additional costs to complete compared to the contract and bid that Mr. Raines provided. Based on all the reasons listed above, I cannot recommend hiring Mr. Raines to build your barn.

We felt this could greatly improve our home, and a designer was needed to get the best return on the work. Kaitlyn was essential to our process. Preparation is Key. We used photos and ideas from magazines, websites and other sources to show your designer. We started by identifying our "needs" and "wants". Then we went to determine what's most important to you to help manage costs. The team walked through each item on our list to understand function and cost. We went shopping to look at fixture options. Having a general idea of the fixtures you like (tubs, sinks, etc.) is helpful, as their dimensions affect the design. It's best establish a budget range so the designer can make recommendation. Kaitlyn helped us through the process, and we went over budget so my tips may help. She offered alternatives however we like what we like. The best part of the process was the communication. The portal used to send updates worked great. Kaitlyn allowed us to express our ideas, preferences, and concerns clearly and honestly. She took all of that and worked out a layout that was far beyond our dreams. She kept us actively involved in the design process and provide timely feedback. All the right steps were taken during the design process. TheRemodelGroup maintained open communication with us and helped us create a beautiful and functional bathroom design that hopefully will meet our needs and enhance our home.

They followed through and met all the goals we mutually set. What really impressed me was how they accommodated some special needs we had. For medical reasons, I have to be able to take a bath approximately every 72 hours, though 48 is better. They made sure to set things up so that I never had to go more than three days without tub access. We did have a problem with one supplier, Kohler. They sent two subtly different colored shower wall panels. Though we looked at them outside before installation, because we hadn't checked them side by side once indoors, we didn't realize the mistake after installation took place. Kohler not only sent the wrong colored panels, they continued to shoot past every single delivery date they gave us for months. We were supposed to get the panels at the end of November. They didn't arrive until March and it upped the cost of the project because THE Remodel Group had to demo out what was first installed and then install the proper product. Because I approved what we saw before it was installed, they could have told me "Not our problem, you need to pay for it," but they didn't. They cut their rate for the demo and reinstall to labor only. Even months after the project was done, THE Remodel Group continued to advocate on our behalf for Kohler to reimburse us for that extra cost and yesterday, Steve delivered the check in person. While the project did have delays, it was out of THE Remodel Group's hands. Every single person I've ever talked with about having a contractor work on the house has had horror stories about their contractors. While we did have a problem with the project, THE Remodel Group was absolutely perfect. We recommend them to anyone and everyone. They will be our first and only call when we want to remodel our other bathroom and kitchen in the future.
