I enjoyed my meal so much that I came back for another round of the lamb gyro platter--it was that good! One of the highlights of our visit was meeting Sam, the owner and chef, who personally stopped by our table. He generously treated us to some Basbousa and extra falafels to try, which made the experience feel even more special. The jalapeño mozzarella falafel was delicious and a fun twist on a classic, but it's hard to beat the original falafel--crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and perfectly fresh. Went with friends for dinner after reading the mostly glowing reviews. Place was empty for a Friday evening. Seating was ok; not very convenient - mostly bench style on one side with chairs on the other, and a few narrow booths. Ordered Shrimp Tempura, Mozzarella Sticks, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, and Spicy Cauliflower for appetizers, followed by Lamb Gyro/Chicken Shawarma; Beef Gyro/Chicken Taouk; Tabbouleh Salad with Lentil Soup; Falafel Burger with Lentil Soup; and bottled Yogurt drinks and Lemonade. Food arrived quickly but all at the same time - despite requesting the server to make sure the appetizers came first followed by the entrees. When notified, two servers basically informed us that they were not the cooks and that the latter was making everything together and sending them out as they were made! Ridiculous...soon our table was filled with plates of food, with little room to maneuver! Food was okay; nothing to write home about. Have had much better at lower prices. Quantity of Hummus was quite small for the price charged. Bread was not fresh and was served lukewarm. While we were still at the table eating our meal, the whole place began shutting down even though ocean closing time and cleaners started swabbing the floors around us - so our meal ended with the lovely aroma of floor cleaning liquid! Ah what an end to a memorable evening - crazy! The whole meal set us back $210 including an undisclosed service charge already built in - not informed about this at all until asked. I came here for an early dinner and it was surprisingly pretty empty. This was likely a gpod thing for the lone worker at the front of the house who handled everything from taking orders and serving food to bussing tables and answering calls. He was very polite and provided great customer service. I ordered the Falafel Gyro platter which came with a regular side salad but I chose the Greek salad for an extra $1.99. IMy dish was filling and delicious. The falafels were warm and tasted freshly made. My dinner date got the Lamb Gyro platter with a side of hummus and pita (2) for an extra $2.99. I was told the lamb was tender and had a good taste to it. I tried the hummus, which was a bit bland compared to other hummus I've had. The pita were not as fluffy as I prefer them to be. We will skip ordering the hummus and pita next time but will order the hot minty tea pot again. It came in a nice stainless steel pot and perfectly complemented the food . The restaurant offers a spacious dinning area with ample seating and breezy parking. Great service, great food. Will definitely stop by again. We've been coming to Pharaohs for a little over a year now. We get the Kebab Feast (similar to the King Tut platter pictured many times in other reviews). It is 2 of each, beef, chicken and kofta. The meal comes with hummus, Greek salad, saffron rice and pita. Consistency is probably the greatest thing I can say about Pharoahs. The meat is always tender, yet flavorful. The charred veggies have a great flavor and are sweet from the roasting. They have one of THE best hummus I've had. You can taste the lemon which just elevates to another level. The rice is well spiced and a great accompaniment. The Greek salad is good, sometimes better than others. The one thing after all this time, the pita is the worst! It is flat, tough and dry. For Mediterranean food, I would think pita to be a staple and would expect better. I keep my fingers crossed each time we order that something has changed. Unfortunately not. Obviously, the pita isn't enough to keep us from returning. We will be back. Thanks for the great food and service! read more

I'm used to a much more Americanized fast casual version of Mediterranean food (which I also enjoy) but I am beyond glad I took a stop here. The food here is DELICIOUS! I've only done to go orders but the restaurant is nice and clean from what I've seen. The people working there have been polite and helpful each time I've gone. My most recent visit I ordered the Shrimp Tempura appetizer. The shrimp were good and I really liked citrusy Mediterranean dipping sauce was a nice tangy compliment to the shrimp. The shrimp were smaller than I would've liked for the cost and number of shrimp that you get. I'm pretty sure that I've gotten the King Tut Platter each time that I've eaten here, and each time I've been satisfied. The platter is served over a bed of rice and comes with three meats, a beef kabob, a chicken kabob and a kofta kabob, which is made of lamb. The meats are each good in their own right. They're so juicy and well seasoned that I honestly can't pick a favorite. Grilled onions, tomatoes and green peppers are the vegetables served with the platter. The vegetables are all cooked well and kept at the point of getting a nice grilled flavor while keeping the juicy freshness you want. The platters have side options of either a Cairo Salad, Tabbouleh Salad or French Fries. The fries are battered which of course as a nice extra flavor to them. Between the two salads I prefer the Cairo over the Tabbouleh. The Tabbouleh respectfully just feels like garnish but the Cairo is pretty good. The only thing that I don't care for in the platter is the pita bread. For me it has been drier and lacking in flavor but the first time I had it was much better than the last. By comparison, the hummus that comes with the order is really good and for me does a great job of uplifting the pita bread. I've also tried the Chicken Shawarma Platter via trying a friend's food. The food was really good and very flavorful but I did prefer the heartier sized pieces with the King Tut Platter. Pharaohs Kitchen is a place that I would probably pass by 100 times but I'm so glad that I made the stop here and my taste buds are too! read more

I had lunch here recently for the first time and plan to return. Pharaohs is a table service restaurant with plenty of parking available in front. I ordered the lamb gyro pita with fries for $12.29. Other side options are salad and onion rings for $3.99 more. The food took about 10 minutes to arrive. The pita was large and hot and delicious. It was satisfying to eat with a lot of flavor. The fries were also hot with a crunchy exterior and good tasting. My only complaint is that ketchup is only served in packets here and that is a real pain when you want it on french fries like I did. Table service was good too. I will dine here again to try something different because Pharaohs Kitchen is a good place to eat. read more

Since I'm fasting for Easter, I've been on the hunt for great meatless options and decided to give this spot a try. I ordered (to go) the falafel burger with fries, cheese curds, hummus, dolmades, and the Cairo salad. The falafel burger was good, crispy and flavorful, but it didn't quite rise to "show-stopper" status. The dolmades were exactly what you'd expect: solid and satisfying. The hummus was actually one of the highlights, smooth, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering. The pita, however, was a bit on the tough side. Unfortunately, the biggest letdown was the Cairo salad, which was the dish I was most excited about. The vegetables tasted like they had been sitting out too long; the tomatoes were soggy and nearly translucent, which really took away from the freshness you'd hope for in a salad like this. For a first visit, I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I was really hoping this would become a go-to spot during the fasting season. read more

This is a wonderful little gem sort of hidden at the end of the parking lot off of a major thoroughfare. A lot of people waste time hanging out in a line of running cars waiting for the fast food pickup window a little further down at the other end of the parking lot, not realizing that the really good food is here. It's fresh. The owner whose name is Sam really cares about the quality of his food and he's such a nice man. If you like Mediterranean food, you definitely should come and try this. I ordered the falafel pita. The menu states it comes with lettuce tomato two types of cucumber and the guy told me it doesn't come with lettuce and it has red onion. I get to my car ready to stuff my face and the pita only has lettuce and falafel. Also I asked for no lettuce on it. Which means I had to go back into store and get all the other stuff on the side and add it myself. Shouldn't have to do all of that. On Saturday 4/25, my husband took me here for lunch and it was well worth the drive from Baytown. I got a beef shawarma, and it was so good! The meat was tender & well seasoned, and there was a perfect amount of onions & pickles throughout the pita. My husband got a lamb gyro with fries, which was also top notch. The lamb was seasoned so perfectly it didn't have that gamey sheepy taste, and while I am not the biggest fan of fries theirs were good enough for me to add to an order on our next visit. Hot, crispy, perfectly seasoned, and not drowned in salt! Love it! We had mint iced tea to drink, we got unsweetened but they have sweetened as well. I can't wait to go back & try one of the baklava flavors I've never tasted with some hot mint tea. Our server Giselle was attentive and even gave me a to go cup with the mint tea in it. We ordered the pharaohs plate, the stuffed grape leaves, lebneh app, and chicken salad; everything was very good. I liked the salad the best. Next time, I'd just order that. The chicken was seasoned well and the dressing was tasty. The portions were above average. Fries were meh. The gyro plate had a decent balance of flavor, lamb was seasoned well, and the rice was ok. Meat in the mixed platter was also grilled well. The bad... I would bet money the hummus was served straight from the can! Also, never in my life have I seen anyone put diced tomatoes on koshari. Talking about tomatoes, every salad in every dish had old tomatoes and the salads overall felt at least a day old. Overall, it's alright, I would be back for the falafel and maybe a gyro sandwich. We've decided to check out this new mediterranean restaurant that had only been open for a few weeks. The were plenty of options on the menu. Since we weren't sure what to order, we decided to go with the Pharoah's Mixed Gyro Feast. It's a family platter with shaved lamb/beef/chicken gyro over rice, and comes with hummus, pita and your choice of salad. It was pretty good value, and there seems to be enough food for 2-3 people. The gyro and rice was amazing. The meat was tasty and had a nice 'bounce' to it. We got the tabbouleh for the salad and it was very good as well. The owner gave us some complimentary pistachio baklava to try, and it tasted fresh, crunchy and delicious - some of the best we've had. The staff was friendly, but they're still working out some kinks in the service when we visited. The restaurant is not fancy but has adequate seating for small and medium sized groups. I have been to this restaurant many times since the opening. The Chef/Owner is very accommodating to my food allergies. The entire menu is MSG free, which is a big plus when most other restaurants use it freely! My favorites are the kofta, rice (one type is wheat free) and dips (tweeked for gluten allergies) and love their mint tea (with less sugar) heated on an open flame at the table. Increases the cultural experience! The food is very fresh, made to order and reflects its heritage. What a culinary journey!! I think that many people may not know about this restaurant or might be afraid to try it as there are always open tables when I go. I don't think the flavors are too loud and the foods have I tasted are not spicy. I am not a big lamb fan, but their lamb is very mild and soft to chew. It comes with salad and humus along with pita so we thought that would be plenty. When coming out we immediately saw how small the servings were. We asked if we can get more, but all would be an upcharged. We requested more pita as we only received 1 pita, a small serving of hummus and salad to begin with. A bit disappointing.. however, the flavors were fantastic! Amazing authentic flavors. When the meat portion came out we also saw how much rice in comparison to meat is on the plate. Again, the flavors were amazing. Definitely barely feeds a hungry family of 3. I would recommend it for 2 adults and maybe a couple of children. Came in during lunch on a weekend. I ordered the chicken shawarma platter and my friend ordered the king tut. The food was good and fresh, but I felt like it could've used slightly more seasoning for me personally. The servings are generous so I had leftovers which made the price seem not as bad. The service we received was just ok - our waitress was a little awkward but the thing that really turned me off is after I got home and looked at my receipt, I was charged a 3% credit card fee. I didn't see a sign in the restaurant that disclosed that information nor did the waitress say anything when we were paying. I'm not sure if they take cash but it would've been nice to give someone that option or just at the very least make them aware of the extra fee prior to paying instead of just lowkey charging you.
