I have always loved going to this PetSmart and today confirmed it again. We had the best experience. Hanna took time to answer any and every question we had about our new "baby." She gave us great advice and helped us get what we needed for our chameleon. Hanna is awesome and so patient.

0 out of 5- it forces you to add a star. I'll start with- my husband & I, & 2 dogs just moved here. Having my dog injured by an incompetent, rude human wasn't how I wanted to end my day. I made appointments for both dogs. I called ahead to ask if it was OK to be 15mins late. I asked if I needed to reschedule, as our movers were running late. I was told it was fine, & to still bring them both. I apologized profusely when I arrived, & asked again if I needed to reschedule if there wasn't time. I was told again that it wasn't a problem. I was then asked for rabies vaccination proof. 1 dog is a rescue from Texas & had her normal vet ppwk, the other is a rescue dog from overseas. They accepted the Texas vet ppwk, but she refused my ppwk for my overseas dog that has been cleared by the Center for Disease Control. The official document I showed is titled "CDC Rabies Vaccination Record." However, because they labeled the vaccine "Defensor 3" with lot # (a CDC recommended rabies vaccine, source: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00040802.htm), instead of calling it plain ole "rabies" (because that's real specific)- she was refused. I'm not sure how a groomer is a higher authority on vaccinations in comparison to the CDC. & let me be clear- the groomer was not kind about it, & the snark was real. I reluctantly went ahead & left my 1 dog for grooming, only to get a call an hour later to "make sure I was on my way to pick her up." I walked into the grooming area & the groomer was crying (theatrically unnecessary). She had 1/2 shaved my dog & had cut into one of her nipples with the clippers. They said "she's bleeding, so let us know if you want to take her to the vet & we can cover it." The manager was awful as well. It would have been fine, but NO ONE apologized... not even the incompetent groomer. The manager said no one else was available to finish the job. So I was left with a 1/2 shaven dog, bleeding from her nipple. DO NOT recommend Kasey the groomer or management - negative 10/10.

I took my 5 year old, female, golden retriever in for a bath to the Petsmart in Woodbridge, VA. The second I walked in the door, I could tell this was going to be a terrible experience. Right off the bat, the manager had a huge attitude. Without even looking at my dog she told me they probably wouldn't have time to bathe her as she would probably have mats and she would need to be assigned to a groomer. She said that If she had any mats at all, I would have to pay $20 extra to have them brushed out All this without even looking at her. I said that was fine, if she did have mats I would pay the extra $20. I also told them that she was very, very afraid of the dryers and she would need to be air dried. She gets groomed at the Petsmart in Alexandria once a month and this has never, ever been a problem. After 4 hours had passed with no phone call, I called to see if she was done. The manager starts going off on me about how extremely aggressive my dog is when being dried with the hand blow drier. I had explained to them when I dropped her off that they should NOT use the hand dryers as she is TERRIFIED of them. They did it anyway and then got mad when she got upset. Also, they butchered the backs of her legs, shaving away random bits of hair down to the skin. It seriously looks like she was attacked by a kindergartener with pinking shears. I have never seen anything like it. I paid the bill that was sent electronically to me for $51. Two hours later the manager calls me to tell me off for not paying the extra $20 for the de-matting (which is a joke as there was zero attempt to brush the mats out, they just took three seconds to shave her legs down to the skin in random places). I explained to her that I paid the bill that was sent to me. She then told me she was making a note in my file not to serve us again until I paid the $20. No problem, I won't be going back there EVER!!!!!

Random scalped area after a grooming appointment that was only for a nail trim, wash and teeth cleaning.

Horrible customer service in the grooming department! No one helped me for 20 minutes when I was one of the first people there.

My dog, Koa is a year old Belgian Malinois but unfortunately was not trained. She was rehomed to me. I desperately needed obedience training. James shared pictures and videos with me of the whole journey since I lived 3 1/2 hours away. I had no reservations about leaving her with him. I doubt she wanted to leave him to come home! This will probably not be the only training she will get from James. He's very open to this being a great experience for you and your dog. I highly recommend him for any training you need for your dog.

Controlled K9 came to our home to evaluate her and recommended a four week board and train to work on basic obedience, leash manners, and off leash recall. We loved that she was taken in as a member of the family during her "boarding school," and they provided regular photos and updates on her progress throughout. She returned to us her same happy, sweet self in the house, but basically a new dog on leash! The Controlled K9 team trained us on how to continue her training, and remained super responsive to our follow up questions. It's incredible to see the transformation and we're so grateful to the Controlled K9 team for changing our lives - and Zoey's - for the better!

BEST INVESTMENT you'll choose for your Dog-Mandy is AMAZING!…read moreI have worked with my dog from the moment I brought her home at 8 weeks old. She came from a well tempered background and has had positive experiences and multiple training sessions, she was doing great on commands but needed tweaking and was missing confidence that had a fear attachment I could not change on my own. I reached out to OFF Leash/Nova and after reading lots of reviews, I thought Mandy was a perfect fit for her. I was nervous about enrolling in a board and train. The moment we met Mandy, I knew she was the perfect match! Her knowledge and demeanor on dog training and especially when it came to my breed was remarkable. We couldn't be any more happier with the results of her board and train experience!! Mandy checked in with videos, messages every night! I was so relaxed after the second day! We now have a completely different dog! She's calm, confident and so easy to walk and enjoy out and about! Don't look any further and choose Mandy! Her passion in helping dogs and training us humans to have a better life with them is impeccable! Mandy also has checked in with us multiple times even after we completed her board and train! Truly the best money you will spend on your fur baby! Thank you Mandy!!

Brandi & Perry were amazing! Highly recommend working with them…read more We adopted a one year old mixed breed, Tuck, a few months ago. He's very sweet but started to get rambunctious to the point that my remote work felt challenging. He also started jumping or freezing when he saw other dogs on walks, and he occasionally barked or growled and men. We weren't sure if it was the start of aggressive behavior or just the result of a shelter dog that hasn't been exposed. After doing our research, we decided to do the 3 week behavior modification board and train program. We were really impressed from beginning to end. They shared a ton of information upfront, walked us through their facility (we opted to drop him off) and sent pictures and updates every evening. It became clear right away that they both have a very deep understanding of dogs, as well as a real respect and love for them. Tuck loved them! The best part was the "transition" day when Perry brought Tuck back and spent the day teaching us everything they've worked on together. We are first time dog owners so generally going in pretty blind. Perry gave us a 101 on dogs and the importance of clear and consistent communication. He talked through all of the layers of training and how/why it is effective. We felt this part was SO helpful for us to understand how to be better owners. Then we walked Tuck around the neighborhood with Perry guiding us and then spent time addressing indoor behaviors too. He was flexible and stayed until we felt comfortable with everything. This is a long review so the TLDR: finding a trainer is a big decision and investment so we wanted to get it right. Brandi & Perry were really incredible and beyond our expectations!! Truly worth every penny! Tuck has been doing really great at home and outside since being home. I've been able to work full days with him holding "place" on his cot, which would have been unheard of before!

Pebbles (blue heeler, 1.5 years old) would never listen to me, would not sit or lay still, and had a lot of other obedience issues that caused her to be stressed or confused. She was a TOUGH dog to train and I was concerned I couldn't find the solution for her to get basic concepts. This view has completely changed since working with RSK9's 3 week program. I would HIGHLY recommend them and their methods - you can tell they genuinely love working with dogs and it's made a huge difference in giving my dog the chance to find real rest at home. They send DAILY updates with photos and videos which was so nice. This isn't a regular class or something you just pay for; it's truly an investment that you and your dog will be using for the time you get to share together. Side note: it's worth doing 3 weeks versus 2 weeks. At the 2 week mark is when Pebbles really started to understand her marks and cues. From here there is so much more that can be refined and Brandi/Perry really capitalize on that threshold being crossed!

Prior to signing up with All About Dogs, they took a ton of time answering my questions and allowing me to observe a class and talk with their trainers to make sure the class would be an appropriate fit for him. Most reactive dog classes would disqualify him because he is reactive to strangers, and that human reactivity is something we have found many trainers will not work with. I was, and remain, impressed by their thorough and honest assessments of each dog as an individual, their ability to see the potential in their students, and their celebration of every milestone reached along the way. Pam and Colleen also have worked with us individually to do a behavior assessment with my dog and determine his needs within and outside the classroom setting. We received an 8 page document from that assessment, full of straightforward and thoughtful insights, tips, and continued management strategies. The trainers are kind, compassionate, and never push my dog farther than he can go for the sake of seeing progress or immediate results, which has been critical to genuinely helping him get better. We consulted with several other trainers and did a few private sessions with others before finding All About Dogs, and my only wish is that I had found them sooner. My hope is that we will be able to continue making progress and eventually "graduate" from Rowdy Rovers to their Levels Training, and I do feel confident that with time and continued work, we will be able to. Dog Training is an unregulated field, and anyone can call themselves a trainer. The difference with All About Dogs is they have years and years of science based education and certifications to support their passion for helping dogs and their people. Both Pam and Colleen hold CPDT-KA certifications and all their methods are positive and force free. I am so grateful to have found them and look forward to continuing learning with them. Another interesting note is that both Pam and Colleen are regular presenters at the annual APDT (Association for Pet Dog Trainers) conference, a testament to their knowledge and experience in the field of dog training!
