I've been coming here for awhile and have had no issues with my dog, until i came in this time and my dog had to be sent home early because he wasn't behaving well from what the groomer said. My dog has never been sent home from grooming early and he's always been sweet to the groomer so, the lady had attitude as well and dogs can sense if they don't like the person. many of the groomers have attitudes here not sure why. won't be coming back here again read more

This review is solely on the grooming department. I had other items that I needed to buy as well, but I chose not to because of the experience I just had. I wish I would have read the review with the person that changed her dog's name...well I'm in the same situation. I adopted my dog about 2 months ago and she had a different name. It didn't dawn on me that they would have a problem with her rabies documentation, considering a month ago she got a bath from a different Petsmart with the same document and no issues. And after they told me that they couldn't take her because of the different name, I thought they would be able to call the other Petsmart to verify that she was the same dog. Nope, apparently Petsmart are not linked like that. They attempted to contact the vet that administered the rabies shot (located in a different state) - and they were closed. They attempted to contact the organization where I adopted her, they were closed as well. At that point the manager goes in the back and then tells me that they cannot see her. At this point I was mad. Thankfully I had an email with all her adoption paperwork sent by the agency I adopted her from...luckily 2 of the documents had her old name and a great, big picture of her (my dog is a cutie and has some distinctive marks on her face). At this point the manager decided to change his mind and allow my dog to get a bath. All this for a bath!!! So I gave this review 2 stars because my dog was clean, but nothing really to rave about. When I took her to the other Petsmart they went above and beyond. She smelled good and had a little bandana...all at the same price that I paid here. And that's another thing...Petsmart in general has expensive prices in their grooming department. I was quoted $54 for a bath, but luckily I made the appointment using the app and I was charged less. So I doubt I will be back. I think it's time for me to support the local small businesses. And I doubt I will have as many problems as I've had here. read more

There is seriously something wrong with the employees that work here. I've had several terrible experiences here within a short period of time and I'm deeply disappointed in the customer service and attitudes. As a pet lover, I don't even feel comfortable going to my local Petsmart with out employees being so negative towards me. My first bad encounter was when I was checking out, a female cashier had the nerves to make an ignorant and rude comment towards my husband and I in front of our three year old daughter and a whole line of people saying, "Aren't you a little too young to be parents?" That was inappropriate and none of her concern let alone job. My second bad encounter was also at the check out line again with another cashier, I was purchasing first. She made a mistake by miscounting the fish when the amount of fish and sku#'s were clearly written on the bag, she expressed her frustrations out loud and said, "now i have to charge you more." of course after hearing that I felt the need to ask why, when she answered me back she yelled at me and talked to me like a little child. My third bad encounter was when I was picking out fish. A fish department associate wouldn't stop throwing her two cents in, basically bashing me over and over again saying this and that wont work out and kept making calculations in how much gallons each fish will take up and that I don't have enough space, and certain fish wont get along. I was purchasing a Gourami for my 15 gallon tank that had 5 guppies. I did my research and my fish are getting along perfectly. I understand that's their job to help and inform but say it ONCE, don't bash customers. She was acting like I was adopting a child, like I need to show my ID and fill out paper work. I told her, I am fully aware of these fish, I did my research, I'll monitor my fish and if the gourami gets aggressive I am aware of the two weeks exchange or return and I will do so. These people were so unprofessional and disgusting. Shame on this store location. read more

We called ahead and specifically asked about getting "winter coat brushed out" and we're told it's a "walk in service" we get there and they start brushing her with the thick rubber brush that does nothing on any dog, certainly not one with a winter coat. We go back and ask about the winter coat and were told "it's pet smart policy to not do the "furiminator" unless you get the full package." Cool story would have been cool to know before we drove out here past 10 other shops. Also, no price list was referred to "the Internet" Such a waste of time. read more

This review is for the grooming service. I love the groomers here! Most of them are quite friendly, and they know how to approach and treat my very skittish yet very large rescued Mastiff. He always looks and smells fabulous when I pick him up, and the ladies always have such nice things to say about him. He seems to be happy there, and I wish they'd keep him all day, but they don't have a daycare, sitting, or boarding at this location. As for the store itself, I have no complaints. It is clean and well stocked. Much cleaner than PETCO in Dale City. I went there once, and it was just dark and gross. The staff here is always helpful and friendly. There used to be one girl there named Stephanie that was great and very friendly, but I haven't seen her recently. Also, one of the managers there went out of his way to track down an item that I couldn't find in the store and made sure it was ordered for me. read more

LOVE the groomers - my Lhasa Apso has never looked better! The store itself is clean and well stocked, and prices are pretty good for it being a specialty/premium product store. Worst Petsmart I've been to ever. I came in to return something, as the only cashier was ringing up a mother and her daughter. The cashier was a middle aged woman maybe in her mid-late 40s. After they were finished, the cashier just kept on talking and talking to the 6-7 year old daughter about her cats. Even when the conversation was winding down to a point where it should end, the cashier kept it going by asking more questions. Like seriously lady, you think making small talk with a 7 year old is more important than doing your job and ensuring prompt customer service? Even the child felt awkward as she kept glancing at me. After I finally returned my item, I made my way to their fish department. After getting my fish i went back to the register to pay. What do you know, the same cashier is yapping her mouth to another customer, not at the register, but nearby. So i stand there at the register and just stare at her to see how long it would take before she would come over and ring me up. Nope, she kept running her huge mouth and finally ANOTHER employee saw me and ran up to ring me up. I should have gotten this cashiers name and reported her to corporate. Heck, I might even go out of my way to make the 35 minute drive back there just to see if i can get her fired. Shes in her mid to late 40s, about 5'2, short brown hair. read more

I just go new cherry barb on Friday to put on my 20 gallons with my neon tetras. It hasn't been a week and all my neon tetras are dead. I cleaned my tank yesterday but woke up with my neon tetras dead. Don't recommend buying fishes here!! read more

My review is for both the sales floor and the grooming department. Yesterday evening I brought my long haired dachshund, Ruxin, in to be groomed. When we arrived, we were greeted promptly and checked in for our appointment. Sami was the groomer taking care of Ruxin and she did a WONDERFUL job. She had a very calming and caring demeanor which put me at ease (since Ruxin can be a little anxious/nervous). I was able to watch Sami clip his nails and begin to shave him. She was so gentle and patient with him! We were given an estimate on both price and time. We said our goodbyes and did some shopping/ate dinner in the surrounding shopping center. Sami called us as soon as Ruxin was ready to go home. He looked GREAT! I thought it was cute that he got a grooming progress report. I will be bringing Ruxin and his sister (a long haired dachshund also) back here! As for the sales floor, we have always been able to find any item we have been looking for. Not to mention, there is always a sales associate nearby offering assistance. read more

I had a grooming appt at this store and because I had change my dogs name they did not take her. My appt was at 5:30pm I went to the vet and got a new rabies paper with the corrected name. I came back with the right paper at 5:55pm. All three employees did not have any dogs my dog was the last appt and did not take me, because I came 25 min late and that is not adding that when I got there I had to wait to be checked in about 10min. Worse place to groomed your dog and pricey. Never coming back. read more

Petsmart uses DoorDash. Real time inventory is not accurate. You can place an order, think you have things on the way, only to get an email notifying it's not happening. A text message would have been better. The other item, there was no where within the app to tip the driver Hopefully, both will be corrected soon. PetSmart is great one stop shop for your pet. This store is huge and carries a variety of supplies for dogs, cats, and more. It's one of the only stores you are allowed to bring your pet. We often bring in our dog. A great way to give a puppy some exposure to a lot of people. In addition to pet supplies, this PetSmart also has grooming and dog training classes. The puppy training is fairly reasonable, we had a good experience when our dog was a puppy. read more

First time in this store as our Leopard Gecko needed crickets. The cashier, a VERY young black man, was AMAZING! He guided me to my destination and was jovial and his laughter was infectious! The lady who got my crickets was prompt and attentive. I found the counter and looked around, but she was already on her way to me! I told her what hubby wanted and was quick and courteous. I went back to register and evne though they opened another register, I stayed in HIS line. He asked if my dinner was going to be enough and hope they're very crunchy. HaHA! He was fun and a breath of fresh air Afterward I went to Dollar Tree next door and when walking back to my vehicle, he was sitting on a bench I had to pass. He was having his break and he said I hope your gecko is happy and have a BLESSED day! Now, I'm not religious, but the mere fact he remembered me and took the time to show how happy HE was, made my heart melt. I hope I conveyed the pleasant memorable shopping trip for me! read more

For the Grooming Department: I am currently dog sitting and took the dog to get a much needed bath, haircut and nail clipping. Last minute appointment with a "student" groomer was all they had but they did a good job with the basics. I could tell her cut was more sporadic and varying in the layers but I am not complaining. It was very affordable and when I wanted her nails smoothed out and more hair cut off in a certain area, they did it right away. Sales Floor: a staff member immediately helped me pick out dog treats which I know nothing about! read more

The grooming salon has no quick process. They take forever for drop off and pick up even though the service is Express. Curbside pick up and drop off is non existent and you can not make an appointment or check in using the app. In the store there is always a ridiculously long line and only one register available. Which is not helpful in a pandemic. And the employees do not respect social distancing, one employee damn near kissed me coming behind me at the register! Please do better! read more

Worst petsmart I've been in in years. I am so disappointed. Be sure you read every number to match it with the right price sticker. Apparently nothing is where it's supposed to be or is labeled incorrectly. Of the 6 things I purchased the prices I was told 5 of them "must have been in the wrong location" when the price came up much higher than the sticker said. Becoming skeptical I went to check. Come to find out they're not in the wrong places "oh, someone must have labeled those wrong. The real price is....". I wasted an hour in this store and left with nothing. The staff shrugs their shoulders and couldn't care less nothing is priced right. It was a very nice way to end my already awful visit slipping in a puddle of pee. So over this store. Woodbridge pet owners would be better off without this store around. It's more hassle than it's worth. read more

Horrible customer service in the grooming department! No one helped me for 20 minutes when I was one of the first people there.

I avoid going to any Petsmart because of an experience at this location. The manager was shouting at me in the middle of the storefront because I wanted them to groom my husky/ malamute puppy. They cried wolf and refused to allow him in the store. However, they had already taken my shih tzu into the groomer and refused to give her back! They said "she is already in the bath" and wouldn't give me the wet dog either. I didn't even get a discount. It was absurd. That was about 8 years ago and I've boycotted the store ever since. Petco is much nicer! They love my "wolf"! read more

Very friendly staff; I am always greeted with a hello when I walk through the door. Prices are okay, definitely better when you get items on sale - and signing up for the store card is worth it. Great selection though. The groomers are hit or miss, probably because they are always so busy, so book early if you do. They have some great organizations that you can adopt pets from for nominal fees, and you prevent them from being put down, so it's a win-win. Generally there every Saturday (the Pet Assistance League of Virgina or "PAL"). The parking lot is a disaster though. It's overcrowded and no place to put carts, so people leave 'em everywhere. Generally a pain getting in and out, also. read more

Not impressed with the grooming department -- well more like the one groomer who had my elderly GSD (he's 11 with no teeth and bad hips/shoulders). I specifically noted when I dropped him off that he has a fear of small dogs (we have a suspicion he was attacked by a small dog at some point before we adopted him). I assured them all he does is bark, as do most dogs when they fear something. I also asked for him to be shaved because he has major allergies and shorter hair helps his skin breathe better; I had explained all of this on the phone when I made the appointment but apparently they didn't note it. I got push back about shaving him and had to explain the allergy thing again. I got a phone call when he was done saying he was barking and lunging at a bunch of other dogs and being aggressive so I would have to pay a "special handling fee" which there's no mention of on their price list. When I got there, the other groomers said he wasn't doing any of that, that he barked at one dog who was small and yapped at him. Lunging and aggressive means barking once?! Get real. Not like he could do anything about it anyway! He can barely walk and has no teeth! Never taking my dogs here again. My other 2 look like nothing was done, they didn't even smell like they were bathed! Not worth the $155 I was charged, including the "special handling fee" that was BS! It's a decent store otherwise. We purchased a TopFin 20 gallon starter aquarium kit for Christmas. The aquarium is completely set up and working, The lights for the hood, however, have stopped working. PetSmart does not offer replacement for parts for TopFin. When I contacted Customer Care, they explained that although they do not offer replacement parts, they do offer a variety of other lighting that could be used for my aquarium, at a cost. The costs of these 'other' lights cost almost as much or more than my entire aquarium kit. Unfortunately, we will be purchasing another aquarium very soon. It will NOT be a TopFin and it will definitely NOT be purchased at PetSmart. We will be going somewhere that actually cares about their customers and also stands behind the products sold in their stores. read more

I have had really positive experiences here with the dog trainer, Stephanie, and a particular groomer, Nicole B. We've taken 2 sets of classes with Stephanie and she's always willing to be helpful when we have questions about dog behavior. She'll try her best to give thoughtful suggestions and we are really appreciative of her advice. She's very good with all of the dogs in our class and assertive when necessary. We think our pup sees her as the "treat lady" but of course, Stephanie always makes them work for their treats. We also enjoy the dog interaction that our pup gets from these classes. A nice, confined, and controlled space for our small dog to interact as Stephanie watches along. I will say that we wish our pup could've learned more skills beyond basics during each class but overall this was a very good experience. We were apprehensive about grooming at PetSmart because of many different horror stories but we had a coupon (that you get when you go to dog training) so we decided to go for it. Nicole B. was recommended so we went with her and she has been great. Our pup doesn't exactly like grooming but Nicole always says he does a great job. Not sure what she does but it seems to work better than me trying to give him a cut. My wife particularly likes the way his paws get shaped. I'm especially thankful for her advice about our pup's anal glands and expressing them. Not a pretty job but necessary for our pup. Overall, the store is clean for a pet store and stocked well. They always seem to have what we need and typically have some type of sale going on. The toys can be expensive as well as the grooming service if you don't have a coupon. read more

This review is for the training department and the training department only. We have completed all 3 classes for our one Pitbull, and we are halfway done with training with our bull terrier. The trainer Desiree Coleman is by far one of the best assets to this Petsmart. Her instruction is amazing. She cares about each and every dog in the training class. Even after training has been completed. She is willing to listen, assist to help with your behavior issues. She is actually the only reason we goto this petsmart. If she were to ever leave I would have to find her just so she can continue training. Our dogs love her we love her. If you are ever looking to train your dog you can not go wrong with her as your trainer. read more

A great place to take my dog for a little exploration (and barking at strange dogs) while I shop for her. This location has a wide array of a stock. When my dog was a puppy, we enrolled her in the training classes. The pricing is fair, and I think it helped her in the long run. She was a very unruly puppy, but due to a little reinforcement, she'll do pretty much anything if there's a reward in store. I guess that's all I can ask. I've taken her to the grooming stations for nail clipping, however. She has black toenails, so it's typical to cut the quick every now and then. However, every time I took her here she was in much discomfort, having every single quick cut. I can't take her near the grooming section to this day without her freezing up. I had three separate occasions where all quicks were cut, and there was much blood. It wasn't dealt with quickly with powder, either. Overall, a good place for shopping but not somewhere I trust for clipping. read more

I brought my full blooded Yorkie in for grooming. The receptionist argued that Molly is not a Yorkie, claiming instead that she is a Silkie mix. I disagreed, but she insisted and another worker dismissed my fears with "it's the same price anyway." After explaining just to trim everything including her beard, I left very angry that they didn't listen to me. Upon picking her up I found a Yorkie that had been cut like a Poodle, beard and mustache gone. The hair will grow back, but I cannot go back to a business that disagrees with their customers. This was the first person who has ever claimed my dog was anything but a Yorkie- and I'm supposed to trust their judgement?? Two stars because the rest looked great and they got Molly in next-day. read more

Went into this location earlier this evening deciding to purchase either a gentle leader or easy walk harness without the slightest of clue which is better for a dog that pulls on leash. Sherry went out of her way to assist in recommending the easy walk harness with her own personal experiences. She then helped to adjust the harness on our dog. I truly appreciated her help and expertise in the matter. Without her help it would have taken me at least an hour to figure out how to get the harness on our dog! This petsmart is literally disgusting. It smells horrid when you go in, we planned on getting a cat tree but quickly realized most of them were peed on, so then we looked at some dog beds since we needed one of those too, also peed on and while looking see a mouse running all over the beds which is nasty. The bathrooms have poop smeared everywhere. If I could give 0 stars I would. I wouldn't waste your time there. read more
