She does a nice thorough exam on Hazel each year. I enjoy talking to her a lot. I can just tell she's a good person! I remember last year when hazel had a dew claw problem, Dr. Keri was very attentive and answered all my worrisome questions. The receptionists are always so pleasant. The two vet techs or nurses? that gave Hazel all her annual shots were so loving today. Giving Hazel extra pets and love. I think their names were Jenny and Nicole? After anesthesia, she was able to push the blockage down into his stomach so he could digest it naturally instead of going straight to a major surgery. Our dog stayed overnight for monitoring and came home the next morning safe and stable. Communication was clear the entire time, and the team was professional, calm, and genuinely kind during a very stressful situation. * In terms of cost, this is emergency care, so it is expensive. The initial diagnostic alone was around 1300 dollars. With bloodwork, X rays, anesthesia, the procedure, overnight monitoring, and medications, the estimate initially went up to 14000 dollars. The final total ended up being about 6600 dollars after adjustments. Even knowing emergency care costs more, it is still a financial shock when you are facing a possible life threatening situation for a family member. * We are giving 4 stars. The doctor and team absolutely deserve recognition for their professionalism and friendliness. The only reason we are taking off one star is the price. While we understand emergency care is costly, the numbers can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to get pet insurance if possible. If a bill in the thousands or potentially over ten thousand would be difficult, it is worth researching emergency options ahead of time. Brought my cat into Sage Friday night as he was not feeling well. That night as I am checking out one of the staff members tells me they would have to call a specialist the next morning to do the ultrasound so after the procedure is done they would call me with an update. Agreeing with their recommendation I agreed to pay $6500 for the visit and the next day procedure. The assistant said with additional medication the cost could go to $8200 or higher depending on the finding. I should have asked for a list of procedures that were done and a breakdown of costs, but at that moment I was more concerned with the wellbeing of my family member. I called the next morning around 8am to check how my cat is doing. The person said the veterinarian is doing their rounds now so someone would call me back an hour or two later. I receive a phone call around noon and was told I would have to pay an additional $4500 for the ultrasound and with additional tests they recommended would in total be around $15,000. When questioned what was included in the $6500, I received a response of, "oh that was included." When asked why the ultrasound was not done yet, they said a specialist would need to be called as it was the weekend. When I told them that last night someone said that it would be done the next day, they said, "not sure why someone would say that?" I tell them that I want to pick up my cat to bring to another location. Upon arrival an assistant brings me my cat and promptly asks my to sign a waiver. When I asked who I spoke with over the phone that quoted me $4500 for the ultrasound, the assistant said the veterinarian. When I tell them to refund me the cost it suddenly became $1100. I told them if it was $1100 I wanted to go through with the ultrasound , BUT since I told them I wanted to go to another clinic, putting the iv in and what not back on him would cost more. At this point I feel like I am getting taken advantage of so I wound up leaving. Before I left I asked for a receipt showing what procedures were done to only get a email with a charge of $6500 minus the cost of ultrasound $1100. Bottom line this place seems more interested in taking your money than the health of your pet. I would highly recommend avoiding this clinic.

I have now been told my request will be escalated and treated as a priority today. (Note: These aren't complicated records. My dog had two appointments that were pretty basic vet care.) Waiting for insurance reimbursement of thousands of dollar is frustrating enough, but a delay caused by failure to follow through by the admin staff is cause for a mediocre review instead of the 5 stars that Dr. Scearce deserved. If you don't plan on filing an insurance claim for your pet care, I can recommend Paws of Pleasanton. If you do plan to file an insurance claim, be prepared to wait for your records.

The ladies at the front desk were quick to get us checked in. The wait was not too bad for an emergency vet. I believe we were there for maybe 2 hours from beginning to end. They didn't find anything physically wrong with my dog but he actually calmed down by the end of our session and we came to the conclusion that he might've had some anxiety. They gave me medication to help with pain in case he experienced any before I could get him in to see his regular vet. They prepared estimates for blood work and x-ray but said that I can also wait until I can get him to his regular vet since it appeared that his pain had settled down. Overall, the service was great. Staff was friendly. They have complimentary coffee, tea, and water. I didn't see any pet friendly bowls but I gave my dog water from a paper cup since his mouth was so dry from his heavy breathing. I would recommend this location.

We discussed possible chest xray, he suggested labs then giving antibiotics. When the vet tech came in with the "estimate" it was $1600. There was stuff on the estimate we never discussed! Long story short, he refused to do just one xray of her chest...he said "it's all or nothing." Then proceeded to say, "I'm not playing this game of let's shoot one xray just to go back & shot another." You only need one chest xray to see if pneumonia is present, not 3! I never asked for 3 lab panels, nor did we discuss it. Dr. Judge was extremely rude & disrespectful and is clearly ONLY money driven! I will ONLY take my cats there when Dr. Downes is there! Dr. Downes gets 10 stars! Dr. Judge gets zero stars!!!

DVH was able get us in later that morning and were super understanding of the urgency over the phone. The doctor and vet techs were all friendly, and we appreciated that the doctor was measured and conservative in her exam while wanting to account for all possibilities. They recommended a fairly comprehensive course of testing and treatment and lo and behold, our dog was positive for pancreatitis and the treatments they recommended even prior to that diagnosis were all applicable. It's not a stretch to say that them getting us in and their recommended treatments, instead of downplaying the situation as another vet could have, probably saved our dog's life given the ultimate diagnosis. I will echo other comments that it wasn't the cheapest given that it's a small clinic. We obviously weren't leaving without exhausting every possible option, but wound up spending about $1k on blood work, tests, and treatment.
