We have moved a few times. We found this vet about 3 years ago while living in Dublin. We moved again, but just about 25 mins away. Even though there are many closer vets, we won't change. We love it here! It's in a shopping center with a big parking lot, so there's ample of parking. Even has a Tesla Super Charge in the parking lot, so I was able to charge while my dog had her visit. Hazel, my golden doodle, just got done with her annual visit with Dr. Keri Smyrni and she's the best veterinarian ever! She's so personable and knowledgeable. She does a nice thorough exam on Hazel each year. I enjoy talking to her a lot. I can just tell she's a good person! I remember last year when hazel had a dew claw problem, Dr. Keri was very attentive and answered all my worrisome questions. The receptionists are always so pleasant. The two vet techs or nurses? that gave Hazel all her annual shots were so loving today. Giving Hazel extra pets and love. I think their names were Jenny and Nicole? Every time we come here, each staff has been very professional and kind. read more

5 starts to dr Trippy for being a great doctor. He treated my dog's skin allergies with a conservative approach (with minimal meds) and it worked. I really appreciate him not putting my dog through the anti allergy and antibiotics that make him super thirsty. I came in for a follow-up appt (Oct 2024) as we had to get the 2nd set of vaccinations for lyme and lepto as well as follow-up on an ear infection. The first part I was surprised I didn't get the same vet as before and I didn't think to ask. And I'm not sure if I would have wanted to as I can compare the vets. This is my 6th dog and I have gone through the vet routine before. I have my regular vet but as my prior review said I honored this one since they were the one my dog rescue used for micro-chipping and that had to be done. This appointment was interesting. She rattled off a lot of what I had to do. So given I'm older and my memory has lapses, I asked is she giving this to me in writing. She wasn't so I said well hold on as I have to start writing this down as a text to myself. I had to write this all down as it was different treatment for ear infection then to change how I do my flea/tick treatment and when as I already started the 6 month 3 flea/tick/worm one meaning I had 5 more months to go. Then there was xray for dental attrition to what we would do next to pulling canines, but pain meds and certain type of feeding to a new type of dental chew that wasn't the greenies; treating his itchies and we didn't forget what I came into do which was the 2 other vaxes that was part of the round. And then we had to deworm him even with a negative fecal test as he had a flea found on him last time on head or ear so we had to deworm him. But the other vet made no mention of doing this and she said he missed it. Then came the charges and there was a $9 charge for biohazard disposal that I have never had before. So this must be new as the other vets in the area 2 years ago didn't charge me with this. It was for the needles from the vaxes. At this point, with what the vet advised, I am glad I have pet insurance. I still go with my prior review which I will keep. I think they are lovely from the vets to the techs. But the charges I am unsure of so I am going to go back to my regular vet that I had before to get a 2nd opinion. __________________________________________________ Prior Review Sept 2024 A bonus as they partner w/a favorite rescue~Calpaws for microchipping! So my fur baby was getting his done. They were great on intake on me to being him in with kindness. Exam with vet went well to get him all up to speed on shots, heart worm, flea/tick and found an ear infection. Dealt with there and to revisit in 3 weeks as we have 2nd round shots to finish I like that they took the time to answer my questions and the ones I forgot. Went there for dental cleaning yesterday.After pick up come back home to find that my lab has dry brown stuff caked on whiskers .I chalk it up to maybe medication or something that dried off. Ten minutes later see dry brown stuff on her tail.Wipe it down and immediately deduce that it is poop.Lift her tail up and her whole behind covered in poop. I live 10-15 mins away, during pick up her tail was tucked, same during drive and when back at home same till I noticed something on her tail. "Practice manager" calls me to say that she doesn't know what happened. Goes on to proclaim that it MUST have happened during drive back home. I challenged her if she could explain dry caked poop on whiskers and tail. Got defensive and changed gears as if she was doing me a favor by calling me back. Her attitude essentially was very much "I don't care". Gave her a piece of my mind and then hung up. No option to give zero stars else would have. Stay away. Go to a clinic that is run/owned by a individual vet not by a corporation in this case. All you are going to get is corporate gobbledygook. THEY KILLED MY PUPPY - PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO YOUR PERFECTLY HEALTHY PUPPY TO DIE. We had our maltipoo puppy vaccinated and dewormed here. He passed away within the same day and we tried making an appointment saying it's an emergency and they said they were too busy to take him in. THEY KEPT PUTTING US ON HOLD AND EVEN HUNG UP ON US MULTIPLE TIMES. They said he was perfectly healthy and he was. Even after we called four paws to let them know the situation they gave us a false reason for why he passed away taking no accountability. They said they can only refund us but when we went to pick up the money which was towards my puppy's cremation they tried to deceive us giving us $69 instead of the $175. It's been 2 years since I was told to leave the vet's office and not come back. But, I have not forgotten what happened to my dog there. I took her in to get her nails trimmed. The next morning, she was dripping blood all across the kitchen floor. The next day, she went in to get checked for the bleeding and they found 3 puncture wounds - one VERY deep in her paws. Somebody had to of done that on purpose because she was NEVER out of my sight for a minuten at home. I went with her when she went out to go potty and play. I was always there with her. It had to of happened here at the vets office. Mr. Vet was VERY rude the day I took her to be checked for her bleeding. When I asked him if she would be alright, his reaction was "I"m not going to debate that with you. If you want her put to sleep, I'll put her to sleep". If I was you, I'd give it a lot of thought before you take your dog here. There's a lot of better vets in the area. read more

He has only raised bunnies so we were fortunate to have gotten him on our first ever vet visit for our Holland Lop. Dr. Keri is compassionate, gentle, knowledgeable and professional. She took care of our bunny's needs and gave us information to take home. She was also sensitive to discussing issues in front of our children making sure it was okay to be frank. My foster puppies Wednesday and Gomez were sent here by their rescue for vaccinations and spay/neutering. I love this place and the staff! When Wednesday (Now Bonnie) began having seizures, we saw Dr. MacStay, he was thorough and answered all my questions. He immediately took her off the ridiculous medicines the emergency vet (different location) put her on and prescribed an anti seizure medicine. He offered a few options to diagnose her properly (none of which were offered by the emergency vet or even discussed). Everything he stated made sense. Bonnie is now doing amazing and treatment so far has allowed her to be seizure free. We met Dr. Tripi this week when Bonnie was having urinary issues. We had the same type of experience. He explained everything perfectly, offered a few options, and was very thorough. The office staff is awesome. Always friendly and it is obvious they are all animal lovers. Now that Bonnie is officially mine, we will continue using this Veterinary office even though we live in Manteca! read more

I wish there was star rating that saïd INCONSIDERATE IGNORANT NEGLIGENT CARELESS NON CARING AND DISLOYAL That's how I would rate Four paws. I am sorry but I am not being mean or rude but am being just truthful. Four paws totally ignored and neglected my baby's X ray reports by VEG in San Ramon CA in December which eventually cost my baby's life in just about 2 months. Had the reports been read , paid attention to and understood carefully my baby would be with me now and for more years . I miss my baby and he's never gonna be with me ever and he was just about to be 8 years in few days from February 6 which is when he was taken away a from all of us forever . It's so unfortunate to know that doctors are whom we trust with life and can depend and rely on to give us solutions and recommendations for treatments but in my baby's case he was left ignored and neglected. The worst part is yet to come . During my baby's last few days when he was not eating well Four Paws refused to see him after repeated requests to check on him . You know because they didn't have appointments. I mean who cares for appointments when it's urgent and an emergency. Four paws completely and totally ignored to even see him when SAGE Emergency Pet Hospital in Dublin CA said that my my is in his last stage and has about 4-6 days , You know why because they didn't have appointments. At this stage of life everyone has a heart at least to attend to urgencies and emergencies but Four paws was ruthless and they refused to even just see him to know what's going wrong, It broke my heart to know that in life threatening situations a DOCTOR can be so rude, inconsiderate and heartless , disrespectful. I can go on and on as I've not yet gotten over the fact that Four paws can be so irresponsible careless ignorant neglectful that I have no qualms in saying that FOUR PAWS IS COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ABSENCE OF MY BABY IN OUR LIVES . I used to like this vet- they were good when we first started going to them. Now, it is impossible to get an appt without waiting months. Several times when my dog had emergencies, they had 0 availablity, and I ended up paying triple at the emergency vet. Recently, I called and made an appt for a puppy wellness, was told I had an appt, but when my husband took our dog, the appt had never been made. They didn't do anything to try to rectify the situation, or help us in anyway except to say try somewhere else. So what is the point of having a vet, if they never have availablity to actually help your animal? I will not be returning to this vet with either of my pets. read more

Moving and having to find a new veterinarian for my dog is such a stressful process. I have always had a great relationship with my vet in SoCal so I was pretty picky when looking for one here in the Bay Area. After numerous suggestions and referrals, I decided to take my dog to Four Paws and I was not disappointed. The staff here helped us with our new client process and were very helpful when I had questions. They are doing the best they can with the current pandemic. When I arrive, I just call the front desk a better they check us in. Within a couple of mins the tech comes out and takes my dog into the back. The vet, Dr, Tripi, then calls and let's me know that he is doing and how my dog is as well as takes his time to answer any questions or concerns that I have. I have a 175 pound Rottweiler and finding a vet who will work with my rottie is not easy. Four paws veterinary is awesome, last year, during the pandemic my rottie decided to jump off the truck mid freeway and they were able to squeeze us in with an appointment even though my rottie had never previously been there. This year, he went in for routine vaccination and they greet him with kindness and maintain professionalism even when my dog gets cranky. Thank you four Paws for taking good care of Rocco! read more

I would give less than one star. Do NOT take your sweet pet here! I started bringing my dog when the practice first opened in 2011 and loved Dr. Keri and Dr. trippi. The practice was bought out by a conglomerate. The office staff and Dr. Burns are unbelievably rude and uncaring. I have 3 dogs and our new puppy got very sick after getting a vaccine there yesterday. I called asking to bring him in as he had non stop diarrhea and vomiting. He wouldn't drink or eat. I asked if we could bring him in for fluids and anti nausea meds, they said they'd call me back. They didn't so I called them and was placed on eternal hold. Then told they'd call me back again. I told them that he was very weak and needed help. She refused to have him come in & hung up on me. I called back 2 more times and was hung up on. I expressed my displeasure on how they were treating a long time customer with a sick puppy from a vaccine they had given the previous afternoon. Dr. Burns called, accused me of swearing, told me the calls had been recorded, wouldn't let me speak and threatened to prevent me from being a client there. She lied! I never swore! She actually said that she was trying to help, when in fact they didn't call back, didn't offer to see him or treat him. She and her staff are liars, she actually said I that her staff said I don't want treatment. Why would I call and ask to bring my dog in twice for treatment? Obviously they are liars! They don't care about you furry family, and have horrible customer service. I have been going there since 2011 - we love Dr. Keri, but the practice has gone down hill. You can't be seen when your pet is sick and have to go to the ER. What's the point of having them as a vet? they have too many clients and too few doctors. Dr. Burns is horrible!!!! How do I describe my experience with this place? Pros: the doctors are very nice and staff is nice on the phone. They take the time to explain things. From a human to human interaction I thought they did very well. Communication and follow up skills are good. They call you a lot. Very nice people. They were thorough with exam of my dog. They asked me in detail about diets and vitamins to get full picture. They do care about your dog and it's health. Cons: I came during covid. I got him back and he was terrified. When we had to go back for follow up he was so defiant about going in. Normally I can gently tug him in. Here he had to be picked up and he struggled. Something traumatizing happened in there. They over vaccinated my dog. Even though I told them he didn't need a vaccine because it wasn't due and i gave the records, they still gave him the vaccine and charged me. Not sure what happened there. They tried to charge me $1500-1600 for teeth cleaning. Which is way overpriced. For a little 20lb dog with no cavities or underlying issues. Just needs tartar removal. We've since moved and new vet did the cleaning for $500. They were all very nice about everything. I don't mixed feelings. Some aspects very good! Some aspects very bad. read more

I have been coming here for about a year and a half. The people at the front are great, but it stops there. I have gotten multiple vets. I never get the idea they care about my animal. The techs are also very sweet, but if you want a vet who spends time with you or you pet, this is not the place. I have had animals my whole life, and I have never seen such cold veterinarians. I love this place. I've been taking my pups here for about 3 years now. The staff is super friendly and the veterinarians are super friendly as well. I really appreciate how accommodating they are when scheduling. I also am really appreciative of their sense of urgency during more emergency related situations. The last thing I want to point out is that I never feel pressured to do it all and get everything. Whenever I take my pups in, they will suggest things like heart worm medication or ear cleaner. But it's always just a suggestion and when I say, "No thanks", it's always just a "Okay" and we move on. Pricing is fairly decent too. This review is long overdue, but Four Paws has provided exceptional care for my best buddy, Bolt, and quite literally saved his life. I adopted Bolt three years ago from Dublin Creek Kennels, who have a working relationship with Four Paws, and almost as soon as I brought him home I noticed that he was developing a horrible ear infection. Lots of head shaking, and he was very sensitive to people touching his ears. I took him in to Four Paws for tests to be run, and they had clearly developed a history with him during his time at Dublin Creek waiting for adoption (the poor guy was waiting to be adopted for 8 months). "Uh oh, here comes big Bolt!" the staff joked as I walked through the door. Bolt is a rambunctious 100lb German Shepherd, so he was a lot to handle before I trained him. The staff was incredibly friendly and did their tests quickly while making Bolt comfortable, and sent me home with some antibiotics while waiting for the results to come back. A couple days later, I got the call that his ear infection was a very aggressive bacteria, and he would need to be brought in for deep ear cleaning weekly while taking even stronger antibiotics. For the next 6-8 weeks, I had to bring him in and drop him off all day while I was at work for his cleaning to be done. At first they had to sedate him for the cleaning to be done, but over time they made him comfortable enough there that he no longer needed sedation. I thought things were going well until I got another call from the owner of Dublin Creek, who had been in contact with Four Paws regarding Bolt's progress. She sat me down and informed me that if Bolt's infection didn't respond to the treatment, the infection would spread and kill him, so the only option would be to remove his ears and ear canals. I was already in shock, but THEN she informed me, with tears in her eyes, that a dog of Bolt's breed and with his temperament would respond very, very poorly to losing his hearing, and his quality of life would be such that most would recommend putting him down. I was absolutely floored. I had just adopted my giant goober of a best friend, and I might already have to lose him. I was determined not to let that happen, and Four Paws staff comforted me and informed me they would do absolutely everything they could to save him. The treatments progressed, getting more and more aggressive with frequent testing being done, and finally real progress was made. Bolt came out the other side with an all-clear, and now he's living the best life ever. Over the past 3 years, Four Paws has gone above and beyond providing Bolt with excellent routine care and keeping him happy and healthy. They're friendly, dilligent, helpful, transparent, and on top of absolutely everything. Thank you for taking such great care of my best buddy all this time! read more

While My dog was a patient, they showed us that they were too busy for us.. barely any appointments, nearly impossible to talk with a vet, and after the visit was complete, the vet review was rushed and apathetic. I was a patient during Covid, which okay staffing was tough, but they sure were still charging me as if it wasn't. My opinion: if I'm going to be getting crap service, then I shouldn't be paying top dollar, which they had nooo problem doing. Started out well, but my final straw was with one of the vets who removed lumps from my dog. The vet did a terrible job (the stitching was poor, leaving my dogs skin lumpy). When I confronted the vet, he got real defensive real quick, asking if I was a vet. When I told him no, but I have eyes and can see that he pulled too much skin, he scoffed and said no one's ever complained about his service before and I would be the first. Needless to say... we left. Can't recall the vets name but he was older. My opinion: look elsewhere. read more

Took my very first paw baby here to spay. I was extremely nervous and did my research. After months of researching, I was pretty confident sending my fur baby here for surgery. Price was very reasonable. The assistants here were very patient to answer all my questions, and very caring. An extended wait when drop off and pick up. Another than that I have no complaint. The recovery was great. My fur baby was up and energetic as usual the next day after surgery (not a good thing, I know). read more

During the C-19 pandemic, we didn't know who was open or what kind of services were being performed. We've heard about Four Paws Veterinary Center (FP), and gave them a call as our guinea pig was having some problems. We were able to get an appointment within 2 hours. After filling out online forms, we went to FP and parked in front. I called from the car, and was immediately greeted by one of the staff members. I handed over our guinea pig in it's cage, discussed the issues, and they took him in. I waited in my car. After about 15 minutes, I received a call from the vet. He described what he strongly believed were the issues, discussed his recommended prescriptions, and made the medication order. Very professional, and right on target. Another 10 minutes went by and I received another call from the staff for payment processing. I received an electronic receipt. Very quick and easy. Then another 10 minutes later, our guinea pig is back with us, and we are headed home. The doc was right on target with the prescriptions. 10 days later, our guinea pig is doing great! I cannot speak highly enough about this place. I was so nervous to have my dog's teeth cleaned that I waited years to do it. The staff here is incredible! Everyone from the front desk staff to the staff in the back was so knowledgeable, kind and above all very welcoming. The doctor that cleaned my dog's teeth was so knowledgeable and I really did trust him. Also, this place is incredibly clean, which I really notice and appreciate! I absolutely feel that our lil man was in good hands here. My dog had to have 17 teeth removed and 3 days later is happy as can be. I wish I could give this place a 10-star review for how they took care of my dog. I have searched 13 years for a vet that I felt comfortable with and I'm so thankful we found this place.
