I have had 2 bad experiences here. The first one was they cancelled my appointment without calling me to inform me and I only found out when I came in - but the store manager took care of me and I came in another day and they (Cassey) gave my puppy a full cut that I loved so I made another appointment. Today, 4/27 my dog has an appointment at 4pm and I got a call to see if I can bring my dog earlier so I came in at 3:30. Cassey (same as the last appointment) told me my puppy only has a trim appointment so I asked if she can do a full cut she said NO because she won't have time, so then I said how is that possible when I'm here 30 minutes before my appointment she then said "you're puppy is too young to get a full cut" so the. I said you cut his hair 4 weeks ago! And I said never mind, took my dog and walked out. I am giving her one star for the last cut she did. I am never ever going back to this groomer again! read more

Wonderful store! So big, clean and well organized. The employee I asked about affordable but good kitten food was extremely helpful. They have an animal hotel, groomers and store. Lots of business - because they're great. You can adopt birds, reptiles, hamsters and cats there too. Love the way the cages were done. Very well maintained! Prices are cheaper than other stores - with the exception of some items. Didn't even know Ellen had cat toys and bought a bunch. Lol. Would go back anytime. read more

Usually petsmart is good, but in LA so far grooming experience eaither here or petco They charge you add all kind a services on top of bath but now I'm not sure if they do all, pehaps second time nails wasn't done I checked and they had to even cut plus I paid for grinding. I am so happy with the care taken during grooming! The dog Groomer we use is Yesenia. She has taken care of two dogs now, our Siberian husky, and German Shorthair. I have been going to Petsmart since my dog was four months old. She's ALWAYS gotten groomed at Petsmart. Decided to try this location out and scheduled a grooming appointment for 9 am on a Saturday. I'm fully aware for the grooming salon to open earlier than the store. I drove about 15 min to get there and NO ONE was working! Even waited a few minutes still nothing called the salon and I can hear the phone ringing off the hook and no one picked up. What's the point of offering morning appointments when no one is coming in to work?! I'm never going to this location extremely disappointed and will be telling all my other dog lovers to not bring their pets here. I'll drive the extra 10 to 15 minutes to Northridge or Santa Clarita locations. read more

On 30th May Saturday I had the worst experience here with one of their employees called JOLENE! Hardly I got 5 otocinclus catfish (she wanted to give me only 1 for my 20 gallons tank), answered me with hostility when I asked for 2 guppy females and 2 guppy males - (bc of social distance, I didn't see properly the fish she gave me; at my home I noticed one of them had half of the tail rooted). I asked for 5 neon tetra fish too, and she did NOT want to give them, saying that tetras are aggressive and will fight the guppies! I was so angry, just my husband (who witnessed it) said to come a another day when this women JOLENE won't be there! I uses to buy many times fish and supplies for this Petsmart store, they have beautiful and healthy fish and good products. Hope someone will tell JOLENE she's supposed to sell, not to fight the customers! read more

Excellent customer service!! The vet recommended a certain type of food for my dog; however, my dog didn't like it. I came in and they gladly allowed me to exchange the food even though the bag had already been opened...GROOMING: AWESOME!!! I called in to see if they had same day availability and they did. The groomer there (manager) is FANTASTIC!! My dog doesn't enjoy getting a groom and I would always get complaints from other groomers that she was too feisty. I warned him when I got there that she might give him a hard time, but he was not reluctant to take her in at all. My dog was groomed in 2 hours!! The fastest grooming ever and he did a great job!! It was also a lot cheaper than other places. I got her the oatmeal bath and only paid $50.00. I used to pay $70.00 elsewhere, which I will obviously not be going back there anymore. Love this place. Been going to Petsmart groomers for 4 years and today will be my last. Was treated so uprofessionally by the grooming manager that worked on April 8th 2023. She claimed she had two groomers call out sick that day and she had attempted to call me the day before. I talked to them twice and confirmed both two dog appointments. My dogs dont like going and its alot of work getting them there. There was no apology. I told her I wasn't called and she said that she had to actually groom a dog from another person who claimed the same thing. Acting all disgusted that she had to work. I asked her if she could call the other stores and help me find an opeing but refused. She said ya, go ahead as she walked away to go stand by the one other groomer who also was rolling her eyes. Petco took me right in and have cheaper prices. This manager needs to find another field pf work. The groomers Ive had are amazing there. Unfornately it is their loss.​ read more

Big shout out to Eddy for the amazing customer service! My boyfriend and I had placed an order for pick up and arrived at the store with our 2 doggies. I saw there was a huge line and was prepared to wait in line as I know they were busy. I asked Eddy if he could help me get my order or if I should stay in line. Eddy stopped what he was doing to help us right away. I also needed crickets but decided not to since our pups were getting anxious. Eddy suggested if we placed the order online for them he could bag them real quick and I wouldn't have to wait. It was so incredibly nice of him! I've worked customer service and know how crazy it can be when you're so busy and especially now during covid I can only imagine the stress everyone is under. The workers are so friendly, I cannot explain beyond words. When I first got my cat, I was looking for a specific collar and a worker was more than happy to show me all the collars they had. She was so nice and incredibly helpful. I seriously prefer PetSmart over PetCo any day even if they might be the same thing. As for returns, I tried returning a cone that I bought for my car when he got neutered. I ended up not using it and tried returning it, but for some reason, it wouldn't go back to my card even tho I paid debit. But the worker was nice enough to give me cash back because she saw that I paid debit and it was the last same 4 digit numbers from my card that was on the receipt. Bad place to take your dog grooming. This is the second time I take my dog and when I brought her back I noticed my dog had a huge rash and scratches on her vaginal area and butt part. She is very sensitive and when I told the girl she was like o okay I will take care of it. The first time I went I felt like it was a good deal because they gave me $10 off my first visit and they cutt her hair and showered her so it was a good deal but the second time I went I felt like the girl who took care of my dog did not make sure that she was cutting to close to my dogs skin. She now has those parts hurting her and she can't even go number two good because it hurts her. Plus when I told her about how my dog gets rashes fast she even told me okay so we will put some shampoo on her it works well for that. We have oatmeal or hypoallergenic shampoo so I said okay thanks use the oatmeal since I thought it was part of the deal of showering her like the first time. But no! When I came back I saw my receipt was $49 instead of $42. The girl charged me $9 more for the specific shampoo which she never told me it was going to be extra and I told her it was my second time coming how was I suppose to know. So overall this time it was a bad experience never again will I go there! Either the girl doesn't know how to do her job or everyone just seems like they don't care. read more

I went in looking to switch up my kittens food. I had just adopted him from the shelter and I wanted to feed him quality food. I spoke to Alexis who gave me great advise for my kitten, she recommended for me to stick to the same food that was being given to him in the shelter which was (Canidae) she also recommended kibble for him to free eat while I'm gone at work. So, I recently had a 4yr old beta that passed away (from age). For Valentines day my dad wanted to cheer me up so he surprised me with another Beta. I could tell as soon as he gave it to me, that it was sick. The water was filthy in it's cup. It was lethargic. I tried everything I could to save it, but was dead within 3 days. (I could tell it had fin rot and was deteriorating) My dad went back, and exchanged it for another one. I had him video chat with me. 90% of the Bettas were dead in their cups. How horrible, especially if children are around to pick a fish or just to visit the beautiful animals. Honestly, I really didn't want another Beta from there, but I didn't want to hurt my dad's feelings. So, I picked the one that was sorta moving around. Hard to tell in their murky water. This fish too would not eat, and I knew...it too was ill. Again I tried antibiotics and putting it in a "hospital" tank. After 1 week, I woke up to another dead fish this morning. (guessing swim bladder disease from parasite - since it was actually dead, and floating at the top of it's bowl. And hadn't eaten since I got it home) I'm fairly knowledgeable with Beta's, since I've owned/cared for them since I was a kid. These Beta's at the Van Nuys store, located in The Plant are definitely ill, and not cared for properly. Definitely, DON'T BUY FISH from here. Be leery of other animals as well. The Beta's are not being cared for properly, and who knows what other animals they have that are sick and unkept. read more

Called to make an appt. for my dog to get a bath. Made the appt with no problem and asked about the shot record papers. That all went fine until I took my dog over there for her appt. The young attendant asked for her Rabies number. I showed her the license and explained to her that you could not get a license for a dog without the Rabies certificate. I showed her on the license paper where the date of her next rabies shot is due and she told me that they couldn't do the service without the original certificate. They now have lost me as a customer for there stores and I will let my friends and family know not to go there. read more

Unprofessional, please do not take your dog here.. I took my puppy here for a bath and cut.. when I picked up my puppy she looked terrible , half of her body was only cut and since it was already at the end of the day there's really nothing they can do. The following day my wife had to take the dog back so they can finished the haircut and at least make it look even. I was still not happy with the haircut so I decided to schedule my dog at another location where she already had her haircut and bath done with not issues. I only took my dog at this location because of appointment issues and is a closer location. When I called to schedule my dog for a haircut at another location where my dog already had her cut done with no issue , I was told that my dog was Blocked from Petsmart. That my dog is aggressive and bite which I find it hard to believe. She may be hyper but had never shown any aggressive to anyone before. I was shocked to learn that Mel (groomer) blocked my dog from ever getting any grooming from petssmart at all. And when I try to call the location back to get some clarification , they gave me the run around. First they say Mel is on lunch and they promised me I would get a call back but that never happened. I end up having to call back and when Mel answered after I asked for some clarifications on why she block my dog she put me on hold and next thing you know I am speaking to someone else. Clearly she is avoiding to speak to me. All I wanted is some clarification and explanation which I never got from her. This store has poor customer service, lacks customer follow up and communication and does a poor job with service recovery. Don't expect to get any good service here. read more

I just paid $14 for 100. I should have said no thanks and gone to Painted Reptile or Scales and Tails. I've never paid more then $8 for 100 crickets. Had an appointment scheduled for Tuesday morning but due to working, called at 9am to ask if they can fit me in for today (Monday). Girl answered asked groomer who said yes, after I explained the breed the girl said "oh, we can't do it today". Keep in mind she's a 8 month old Gerberian Shepsky. who needed a trim from her neck, nothing big. And I asked why and she "groomer has 5 pets for today" uh... They close at 7pm it's 9am it doesn't take that long for 5 furbabies. Called the Petsmart on Nordoff and said they would put me on the wait list because there is always cancellations, and there wasn't a big deal with the breed or the small little trim. Sounds to me that the grooming employees in this store are just lazy. Drive to the one in Nordoff. read more

love Petsmart! so happy they finally opened one on this side of the valley! I used to drive to Canoga Petsmart, which is a good 30-40 mins with traffic to get treats/prescription food. When they finally opened a Petsmart in Northridge, I was happy there was one closer. but, Northridge is still a 20 min drive with traffic, last week I drove by the plant & saw the Petsmart sign, so happy they opened one over here! its literally less then 10 mins away with traffic.. it's spacious inside, tons of parking and clean inside. This NEGATIVE review pertains to the Van Nuys Grooming location in Pet Smart. We have been a loyal customer to Pet Smart since our dog/Hercules was a puppy. Not just Shopping, but also completed his obedience training onsite. This stands the same for his grooming. We've continued over the years with his grooming through Pet Smart since he is a large breed (mix-German shepherd/Husky) it just made sense to have the "professionals" groom him. We never ran into any issues and always requested a groomer that can handle large breeds. Well that abruptly changed on his last visit We were assured the groomer/MARIA, was experienced with large breeds, but immediately walking into this establishment Maria was not very friendly and tugged on his leash a bit too harsh and began patting his backside, after immediately letting her know he does NOT like his backside patted, she continued to do so and said oh he's fine. Well the next attempt to pat his backside was a natural reaction from Herc and he snapped his head back towards Maria's hand & No he Never bit her much less broke skin as she claimed. Maria immediately rejected to service or allow any other groomers to service Herc. Come to find out she had him BANNED from all Pet Smart grooming locations. Yes we reached out to her supervisor and requested they pull cameras to prove this was a false accusation, but of course, we were denied and he advised they cannot lift the ban. Hercules is a loving/playful dog that has never attacked/bitten anyone... I will NEVER refer anyone to PET SMART GROOMERS!!! Too bad this rating does not allow "0" as a (1) is too high of a mark.
