WARNING: Petsmart Animal Neglect. Store on Oracle. Forces Pet To Stay in Urine. If you love your pet DO NOT use Petsmart Pet Hotel.
    Dan H.

If you love your pet DO NOT use Petsmart Pet Hotel. I'll start by saying I've been a very regular customer of PetsMart for some 15 years, spending upwards of $3,000 per year in supplies, grooming and boarding. I've also supported PetsMart charities in a big way. I've seen first hand, a decline in all areas of service, friendliness and cleanliness. But my most recent experience should frighten ALL pet owners. I can only classify my most recent experience at the Tucson/Oracle Petsmart PetsHotel as gross neglect and possibly pet abuse. Feeding instructions were not followed, grooming instructions were bungled and to make matters worse, my pet was returned drenched in urine (legs, head and underside soaked in a wet yellow urine stench that filled the store). The neglect was so obvious, that even other Petsmart customers were aghast. My dog was dropped off healthy and very clean (bathed the day before). I had even taken pictures of my dog the day he was dropped off. I've uploaded "before and after" pictures so that other pet owners can see a white dog turned urine yellow over 25% of his body. During the stay at the PetsHotel luxury suite (their top level boarding package), I got no calls regarding my dog to report any issues with urination, grooming or food. In fact, we called to check-up and were told all was going great. Once I saw the deplorable condition my dog was in, we approached the store manager to get answers, things turned even more nightmarish... even as long-term loyal customers our treatment was unprofessional and deplorable. In fact, members of the PetsMart staff and management "teamed up" denying any wrong doing. The blame was "somehow" thrust back at us. We were told we must leave the store immediately. Once home, it took me 90 minutes to bathe my "yellow" pet and there are obvious signs of trauma as I observe my dog. The smell was nauseating. How PetsMart staff could miss this, I do not know. How long our dog was forced to live in a urine drenched environment, I do not know. But this was too extensive to be a short 30 minute mishap, this looked and smelled more like a 5 hour or overnight drenching. The next day, 24 hours later, there is no return call from PetsMart. We called PetsMart and attempted to explain the horrific experience. Not to argue, but to be constructive and help figure out what went wrong. Yes, we wanted a refund, but this was not a matter of money, it's was a matter of animal welfare and trust. In the eyes of many this would classify as animal neglect or abuse, pure and simple. Once the store manager (Maureen) was reached, it was immediately apparent that she was on a mission to blame us (somehow) or blame our dog (somehow). She justified allowing a dog to stay urine drenched for 3 to 5 hours... that was ok with her... just the nature of the business, she proudly exclaimed. She eventually agreed to refund the complete boarding and grooming fee... but next, went on to BAN US and my dogs from the store! This manager had zero interest in our pet, zero interest in investigating what happened... instead it was all fingerprinting and covering up. There was no compassion expressed for animals, no listening to their customers' experience and no interest in fixing the underlying problems that were exposed. Photos, videos, audios? ...she had no interest in exploring what had happened. Instead, "We were not a good match for their store" - here's your money back, shut-up and get lost, forever. I won't belabor this issue as I think I've made my point... but I would strongly discourage anyone from using PetsMarts PetsHotel boarding or grooming services. Even if you have had ok experiences in the past (as we have over many years). Here are the questions: can you trust them, will your dog be neglected or mistreated, is it worth risking your beloved pet and being blamed for everything even when the care was in their hands? Maybe you can get your money back, but a traumatized pet and the stench of urine you'll have to bring back home is not what any conscientious pet owner deserves. Shame on PetsMart, their staff, their groomers and especially their abhorrent management.

Called ahead of time to get some fish for my tank. They said come on down we'll have them all ready for you. When I got here they said we can't sell you fish unless you're in the store and waiting for them. Lloyd was the person that told me that they would be ready a female who would not identify herself told me the bad news. Other PetSmarts are much better than this one

Our chihuahua, Zantara is delighted to visit this location since her favorite groomer ,Ms. Darlene has relocated to this store.Zantara who celebrated her 8th birthday has been enjoying her 'day of beauty 'at Best Buy grooming salons since she was a puppy. Zantara has become very attached to Ms. Darlene and recognizes her name and any mention of going to visit Best Buy for her grooming causes Zannie to become very excited. We have no problem with the size of the store and have found the employees very courteous and efficient. We look forward to our future visits to Best Buy. Eddie, Verdell & Zantara

We scheduled an initial appointment for private in-home training that was $150 and was listed to be up to an hour and a half. Following the payment, we received an email with the trainer's availability and requested a time within it. We then had to go back and forth to find a time that worked for the trainer. It would have been much more helpful to just receive a list of dates/times that were still available instead of just a general schedule for booking. Again, we weren't sure what to expect but got up bright and early for an 8:00am session in our home the morning after Thanksgiving. The trainer was 8 minutes late. I know that isn't a huge amount of time, but it was our first meeting and we were ready on time and waiting. We received some helpful tips on how to start working on the main concerns we had with our dog, but felt like we didn't receive clear instruction on what to do if the dog didn't do the command, etc. We contemplated booking more sessions, but ultimately decided against it for the amount of money we paid vs the information we received. Maybe dog training just isn't for us. Maybe we just didn't mesh with the trainer. This was our experience.

Absolutely Life-Changing Training Experience with Karyn Garvin!…read more We cannot say enough wonderful things about Karyn Garvin and Garvin's Divine Dog Training. From the very first session, Karen's deep understanding of canine behavior and her calm, confident approach put both us and our dogs--Gracie and Stevie--completely at ease. Karyn worked with us on both obedience and behavior training, and the transformation has been nothing short of amazing. Thanks to her guidance, we can now take Gracie out in public with total confidence. She listens, stays calm, and responds beautifully to commands--something we honestly didn't know how to achieve before working with Karyn. What sets Karyn apart is her truly integrated approach. She doesn't just train dogs to obey commands--she taps into their natural desire to connect and please. With patience, insight, and positivity, she helped bring out the best in both Gracie and Stevie. It's clear that Karyn truly understands dogs, and her training methods are both compassionate and incredibly effective. We are so grateful to Karyn. If you're looking for a dog trainer who will treat your pet like family and help you build a lasting bond based on trust and respect, look no further than Garvin's Divine Dog Training. Karyn is simply the best!

He's always been a great with us, but he was getting more and more aggressive with our neighbors and other dogs we would meet on walks or when people would come over. He's a rescue and DNA testing revealed pit, boxer and rottweiler in him. After a few close run-ins, we were at a loss on how to handle him and always anxious when we'd take him out. We decided we needed professional help. Met one trainer who came to our house, charged us $200 to basically give us a sales pitch and didn't even bother to meet our dog - we knew he hasn't the guy. Fortunately, we found Karen's number and had a good feeling when we talked over the phone. We had a follow-up in-person intro session and knew soon into that lesson she was the one for us so we signed up for a 10 session plan. And we are so glad we did. It's truly remarkable what she taught our dog and perhaps just as much, us. She always had well-thought out lesson plans that she would adapt to focus on our areas of concern. She took a holistic approach and spent a lot of time discussing tools & strategies with us that were perhaps just as helpful as the specific obedience training she did with the dog. She was always caring and humane, but also pragmatic and focused on results. By the end of the sessions, we were able to take him to the pet store where he was well-behaved around other dogs there. That was something I didn't think would ever be possible with him. Of course, he's still a big, intimidating dog. He's not a golden retriever, we still need to pay attention with him. But now we feel like we have what we need to avoid or de-escalate situations that before would have blown up on us. For "graduation", we did an outdoor hike with some big male dogs he just met. It was wonderful to see him able to enjoy the walk and be around other dogs without his hair constantly standing up or barking ferociously. Karen really knows what she's doing. We're so grateful she was able to help us get to a much better place with our dog.
