After

My first time grooming experience with PetSmart left me in shock and total disappointment with my pets grooming. I took my Golden Doodle into the Lavista Rd Tucker location for a full service grooming at the cost of $160 bucks. I have a 8 month old Golden Doodle with curly hair that simply needed to be bathed, brushed and trimmed in specific areas around the head & chest. What they did was cut all my dogs hair off from noise to tail. No style, No type of definition, just a buzz like cut of my dog. The very definition of Grooming is providing a service that maintains the appearance, skin, coat health, and overall well-being using skills to make the appearance of dog better, without dramatically changing its appearance. Simply put, my poor dog was given a full body effortless buzz cut. His fur shaved off in the middle of winter, that's unevenly cut and frankly looks horrible. It's the middle of winter and my dogs fur has completely been cut off is not practicing common sense of considering the health of the pet by unnecessarily cutting all his hair off. I'm highly upset with the results and so far have not been given an apology, only shallow explanations and excuses.

Horrible customer service. At one time, the staff was really professional but now everyone runs when you have questions or need help. Made grooming appointment and was told I needed to wait until my groomer came to check in. I went to this location for over 10 years, well that is no more. I'll be checking out Petco

Went in yesterday to find a hamster for my daughter and was disgusted at the wheel the little guy was running on was so filthy. It made me sad. Do they not clean these poor animals cages and toys? If you're going to keep animals in cages to sell them it's the business job to take care of these animals while in their custody. I'm not even going to touch on Banfield Vets at runs out of Petsmart. Those people are unempathetic, overly booked, and nothing more than an animal assembly line. No emotion in them, no sign of actual care. Just trying to get that $$ as the owners grieve their animals illnesses.

They're always very nice and offer my vegetarian dog treats. Don't take them though if you're dog is a vegetarian. Yes, it's real!

We can now take Moose off leash comfortably knowing she will come when called, sit and stay even in busy environments. I feel like we are happier humans and she is a happier dog thanks to Sam's help. The training style used was also based on rewarding Moose with play rather than food or negative reinforcement, which I really appreciate and didn't know much about before. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. Highly recommend Dog Wizard and Sam!

Probably my highest review ever for a service I haven't used yet. hear me out…read more I just rescued a Rat Terrier puppy called Raffi from Texas, who showed signs of abuse and trauma upon arrival. I've parented/known many rescues in the past and never seen anything like the fear she exhibited. fully freaked out, I shot a message to Atlanta Dog Wizard with an SOS to help. Kat quickly got in touch and we had about a 30-min call, which provided me with INVALUABLE insight into my urgent situation. That information she gave me--keep in mind, I had paid no money for her advice or training to this point--gave me some practices I could use, right away, to make Raffi feel more comfortable. I still might officially use Atlanta Dog Wizard in the future, if Kat is any indication how the company does things. She has a passion for rescues and turning around challenging situations and making dogs (and humans) shine. Cannot recommend highly enough.

My dog Buzz and I absolutely loved working with Betty at Canine PhD!…read more After reading so many glowing reviews for Canine PhD, I decided to give them a try after looking for positive reinforcement trainers near us in Decatur. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made for both Buzz and me! Buzz struggles with anxiety and reacts nervously when new people approach, especially on walks or in public places like restaurant patios. From our very first session, Betty made both of us feel comfortable and confident. She immediately recommended a no-pull harness that made a huge difference. Walking Buzz and his corgi brother, Phil, is finally fun again! I truly missed our morning walks, and it feels amazing to enjoy them again without constantly worrying about Buzz pulling away or Phil getting loose because my attention was elsewhere. What stood out most is that Betty doesn't just train dogs -- she trains their owners, too. She helped me learn how to communicate more clearly and understand what Buzz is feeling. Betty gave us exercises to build trust and confidence. He's already such a happy pup, but he lit up even more during each session, as you can see in his picture! You could tell how proud he was every time he got something right. The whole experience strengthened our bond even more, and I ended up enjoying training far more than I ever expected. Betty also gave us fantastic techniques to help Buzz stay calm when meeting new people, both out in public and at home. He's learned that his bed is his "safe spot," and now he'll go there on his own when guests arrive until he's ready to say hello. It's been such a big, wonderful change seeing him so much more relaxed and secure. We did three sessions at Canine PhD and three at home, which was the perfect balance. It gave us the chance to practice in both structured and real-life settings, and between sessions, we had Betty's helpful homework to reinforce what we were learning and keep us progressing even outside of training. The pricing was very reasonable and the value we got from the training far exceeded what we paid. What I appreciated most was Betty's honesty and empathy. She set realistic expectations right from the start, explaining that this wouldn't be a quick fix -- and she was right. Some dogs are just naturally more anxious, but she gave us the tools and confidence to help Buzz make real progress. I can't recommend Betty and Canine PhD enough! She's a wonderful person! Super patient, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in helping both dogs and their humans succeed. If you're looking for a trainer who truly understands behavior, builds trust, and brings out the best in you and your pup, Betty is the one to call!

IMPORTANT KNOWLEDGE FOR ANYONE WHO DIDN'T KNOW:…read more DID YOU KNOW FURBUSTERS AREN'T A FULLY STAFFED WITH GROOMERS? DID YOU KNOW UNCERTIFIED PEOPLE ARE BEING LEFT WITH YOUR PETS ALONE? -FUN FACT... IN ORDER TO GROOM CATS THE FOLLOWING MUST BE DONE: Cat grooming certification validates expertise in handling, bathing, trimming, and managing feline behavior, with key organizations like the National Cat Groomers Institute (NCGI) offering titles like Certified Feline Master Groomer (CFMG) through comprehensive online/in-person training, while International Professional Groomers (IPG) .... THEY'RE NOT REGISTERED! BUT THEY'RE ADVERTISING CATS SERVICES. I wasn't aware of this at the time, but You can easily search a groomer's name, or a salon's name to see if they are a "FULL SERVICING SALON." I'M GLAD MY NEW GROOMER IS KNOWLEDGABLE AND TOLD ME A FEW THINGS.... --THEY'RE NOT EVEN CAT CERTIFIED TO GROOM CATS!!! GROOMERS LEGALLY HAVE TO BE CERTIFIED FOR CERTAIN SERVICES FOR CATS. FURBUSTERS WERE NOT EVEN LISTED ON THEIR ORGANIZATION . IF THEY ATTEMPT TO REMOVE ANY OF MY REVIEWS I'M SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE.-- DISCLAIMER: This is a real, human-written review based on my personal experience. This is not automated, not AI-generated, and not spam. I am sharing this honestly because I believe pet owners deserve transparency. Review (if I could.... I would put 0) I brought my cat in for grooming and had a really disappointing experience. The handling felt rushed and rough, and I didn't feel like my pet was treated with the care and patience cats need. As a pet parent, that was extremely upsetting to witness. What made this worse was how the situation was handled afterward. Instead of taking accountability or addressing concerns professionally, negative feedback appears to be reported or dismissed rather than acknowledged. That lack of accountability is concerning and discouraging for customers who are simply trying to speak up for their pets. I do want to acknowledge that not every staff member was the issue -- some were kind and tried to be helpful. Unfortunately, the overall experience left me uncomfortable, and I won't be returning. I'm sharing this so other pet owners can make an informed decision. Our pets can't speak for themselves, so gentle care, accountability, and compassion truly matter. This was my first time ever going to FurBusters, and it was honestly one of the worst experiences I've had with a groomer. I only took my cat Tux in for a bath, nothing else. When I picked him up, they had completely shaved him down and even cut his whiskers. If you know anything about cats, whiskers aren't just for looks -- they help them balance and feel safe. Cutting them can really mess them up mentally and physically. If I did that at home, it would be called animal abuse. The fact that a professional grooming place did this like it was normal is just wrong. When I called about it, Layla brushed me off saying "he probably moved too much." They wouldn't even let me talk to or educate Bunny, the groomer who did it. No apology. No accountability. Just excuses. Tux came home scared, confused, and uncomfortable .... all from what was supposed to be a simple bath. That's not grooming, that's neglect. I really don't understand how they can do that to an animal and act like it's okay. If I were to do this to my own cat it would be considered animal abuse. This was my first visit and definitely my last. If you love your pets, please don't bring them here. They clearly don't care about the animals or the owners who trust them. What's the old saying, "better late than never?"…read more In 2005 I brought my 1-year old aggressive, non-social, Rottie/GS pup, Ruby, to Kate Jackson and Jabula to get her on the right track. I adopted Ruby from a local rescue when she was 6-months old and it was evident that the first few months before I met her were extremely traumatic. Our "meet and greet" went horribly, as she wouldn't let me close, it took me 15 minutes to get her in the car, and she bit me in return. However, there was something about her and I knew we belonged together. I had a contract job in Hawaii early in 2005 that was going to require me to be there for the better part of a month, and I thought that this would be the perfect time for Ruby to get some formal training since I was going to have make accommodations for her car while I was away. Upon finding out about Jabula's 2-week "all-inclusive" program (or whatever it was called back then), I was ecstatic that not only would she have a place to stay for two weeks with company and activity, but she would get the formal training she needed and deserved. It was going to be hard to leave her behind, but after meeting Kate I felt comfortable leaving Ruby under her care. While in Hawaii, Kate sent me emails and responded to my questions about Ruby's progress. I was excited to hear that she was adapting well and learning how to behave. I couldn't wait to come and see her. Once I got home and was able to pick her up, Kate went over all of the training they did (place, heel, come, etc) in an hour long session with us and the results were remarkable! She was still definitely an Alpha, but she wouldn't instigate any altercation, played well with other dogs, obeyed all commands, and was much, much better around strangers that previously she wouldn't dare go around. Ruby passed in 2015 but she was the best trained pup I've ever had, and Jabula was instrumental in making that happen.

The products mostly seemed to focus on dogs and cats, but they may have had products for other pets as well- I wasn't looking. The dog food I was checking out was all very high quality brands, including pre-made food for a raw diet. They have an assortment of toys, leashes, and other pet essentials as well. I love knowing that there is a place "back home" that carries my dog's food in case any travel emergencies come up. I was really impressed by the man who was working. He was very kind and he was super knowledgeable about the various products in the store. My mother is close to having to make a difficult decision for one of her senior dogs and he was very patient and kind with her. He not only helped her talk through some of the difficult subject, but offered her resources as well. It was a few minutes after closing time on Christmas Eve before we left, but he never appeared bothered by the time or showed any urgency to get us out of the shop. They seem to have a great store rewards program, although I didn't inquire too much about it since I am not local. A portion of their proceeds go directly back to the animals through Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends. I'm so glad that the pups from my childhood have such a great local shop & that my mom goes out of her way to support such a great local business! I would definitely make AARF my "go-to" store if I still lived in the area!
