The environment felt clean, and one of the groomers we'd seen a few times was friendly and professional. Based on those past interactions, we decided to trust him with our dog for a full grooming appointment--wash, haircut, and nail trim--expecting she'd be in caring hands. Unfortunately, what happened instead left us devastated. We paid around $100 for a standard grooming. At pickup, everything seemed okay at first, and we checked out without issue. We had specifically told him to only trim what was needed. But once we got home, we noticed things that were deeply concerning: * Both of her ears had visible nicks * One toenail was actively bleeding * Cuts on her stomach, throat, ears, and other areas * Whiskers completely shaved off * Clippers used far too aggressively in multiple places * Redness and signs of irritation or abrasion on her skin * She began keeping one eye closed about 30 minutes later--we had to flush it, and she didn't open it again until the next day We were told she "behaved perfectly," yet she came home clearly uncomfortable, shaking her head constantly due to the ear cuts, and acting completely unlike herself. This wasn't a one-nick situation--this was carelessness and a lack of attention to basic grooming safety. While I understand nail quicking can happen sometimes, I want to be absolutely clear: her nails were not neglected. They had been trimmed shortly before the appointment. I will be attaching photos to show this. If her nails were truly overgrown, there's no way they could've been cut as short as they were--which, ironically, is the same length they claimed was "correct." That contradiction alone says everything. What's even more upsetting is that multiple people who saw her after the appointment--including at another dog supply store where we stopped to get wipes to clean her wounds--told us to report this business. They were horrified by her condition. Many said this facility's practices seem out of line with what's considered normal and safe in the grooming industry. And sadly, they were right. I should've known based on how this place is run. Their response to my concerns wasn't apologetic or professional--it was defensive, condescending, and retaliatory. Instead of addressing the injuries, they blamed me for "neglect," made false accusations about prior incidents, and then banned us from returning simply for sharing our experience. As someone who grew up grooming dogs, I can confidently say: I would've done a better job at home for free. In fact, I've groomed her many times myself (even in this same facility) using a guard, trimming carefully, never once hurting her. I even have photos of how I typically groom her--with the sweet bandana she always wears. I want to be clear: I understand that this business limits its grooming options, and that's fine. But with those limits should come an even stronger sense of care and awareness. A groomer doesn't need to be a stylist to understand how important whiskers are, how to safely shave a coat, or how to clip nails without causing injury. Most importantly, they should be kind--even when holding boundaries. We used to drive all the way from East Cobb to use this place. But after what our dog went through, and now the way the owner has treated me and my family, I would NEVER recommend this business to anyone. I'll be warning everyone I know, and I've already been encouraged to report this to the Better Business Bureau and other regulatory agencies, especially since some of their policies don't align with standard practices and could pose risks to other pets. I had my dog get a summer cut and he looked sooo good when he was done. They even put a bow tie on his neck, and sprayed him with cologne. He smelled so good, and even a day later you could still smell the cologne on him. The groomer said my dog was such a delight that he would be happy to groom him any Sunday I needed. What great service! This store also carries various types of dog food, both refrigerated and non-refrigerated. You can also pick up some mats, treats, bedding, toys, you name it! The Owner is not interested in customer service, or good business practices for that matter. The prices keep going up, and it seems like every time we groom our dog they have a new reason to charge more. They say it's because our dog has some matting and it takes more time. Well, yeah, he has soft fine hair and it's going to matt. It's happened his whole life. They know this, he's been grooming there since 4 months. Mind you, our schnauzer is an indoor dog that lives a better life than many human beings. There's no lack of care or consideration on our part, we groom him regularly at home, with the products Fido's sold us, but it's just the nature of his hair. It started off being $5 extra, then $10 extra, then $15 extra, with no end in sight. The last time we groomed him he had the least amount of mats ever, yet they charged the biggest up charge ever. When we asked them to not perform a certain part of the grooming about a year ago, we never saw a discount for that. So this only works in their favor. As a courtesy, and a genuine attempt to avoid leaving, we tried discuss the issue with the owner before just walking away and she was very dismissive, defensive, and argumentative. She didn't make the slightest attempt to keep a customer of several years happy, a faithful customer that spends a lot more than the few dollars she's arguing about. It makes no business sense that during a pandemic business owners are treating their customers this way. It makes no mathematical sense when you add up what we spend in a year, against what this petty up charge gets them. When our original groomer at Fido's, Jack, still worked there not only did the grooming look amazing but he never charged extra. After that we've had a couple new groomers and it seems like they get to decide if they're going to charge more. Bad business model for a customer. And, unfortunately, the quality of the grooming has gone down as well over time. There are groomers all over town, so onto the next one.

A kind woman at Hollywood Feed talked with me about my situation. Her empathy was apparent and felt genuine. She recommended some different brands of dog food for sensitive digestion (Dave's, which is not expensive at all) and some goat's milk for gut health. Not only is this location far more convenient for us, but the staff has been consistently kind, attentive, and professional from the moment we walked in. Our dog, Simon, is usually the one who tells us how he feels about a boarding facility--his demeanor at drop-off and pickup says everything. He was happy going in and just as happy coming out, which speaks volumes. The team followed his medication regimen exactly as instructed, and when we called to check in during our trip, they immediately knew him by name and offered honest, thoughtful updates about his personality and behavior (he's more of a relaxed observer than an active playmate, which they picked up on right away). To top it off, the bath he received before pickup was excellent, and they even gave him a much-needed trim around his eyes--something we didn't expect but appreciated immensely. We feel genuinely cared for here, and Simon clearly does too. Dunwoody Pet Resort has earned our trust, and we'll be using them until further notice.

He gets it right every single time, no exceptions. My dog gets a lamb cut, which requires way more than just clippers it takes serious precision and skill with scissors, and Jay absolutely nails it. The attention to detail, the consistency, and the care he puts into his work are unmatched. People literally stop me all the time to ask who her groomer is, and I always send them straight to Jay that's how good he is. You can tell he genuinely cares, and that makes all the difference. Finding someone you trust with your dog is everything, and Jay is that person for me. If you're even considering booking with him, do it. He's worth it.

I found a groomer that I love but wanted to find one closer to where I purchased my home. I called this place at the time and they weren't familiar with my dog's breed so I opted not to take her there. Fast forward a year later, I call them back because I wanted to finally avoid the commute to Cheshire Bridge. To my delight, BIS let me know they now have a groomer who specializes in doodles so I decide to book the appointment. Unfortunately, the first time I brought her for a bath, she came back with a rash or hot spot on her back paw. She had never had a hot spot up until that point, and she was three. We discussed it could be the shampoo but it was concentrated to one paw, so that didn't quite make sense. The second time I brought her the hair cut was not to my liking and I paid even more than I do for our groomer who consistently does a fantastic job. So, although I appreciate that they found a doodle groomer, she just isn't the one for us. **Also, they may want to ask if the bow or the bandanna is the preference for each dog, b/c not every female dog wears bows.
