I really like this location for grabbing my pet food. It's so easy to get in and out with tons of parking available out front. Aisles are wide and well organized. Once and a while they are low or out of a certain flavors but there is always an alternative. Prices are a little higher than some smaller local shops, but just load up when they have things on sale. I took my new rescue puppy to Amy for a hair cut. She was soooo sweet!! She made me and my pup feel so comfortable! My dog is a rescue from the dog meat market in Korea so he was very nervous but Amy was like an angel and he loved her! She went above and beyond to care for him and provided exceptional service. We took my three babies in for full groom. To me that means bath, blow dry, hair cut or de-shedding, anal glands, all nails clipped, ears cleaned, and eyes cleaned around if necessary. Later they called to tell us we needed to pick the dogs up immediately or they would charge us boarding fees. There was no way they could have finished all three that fast. So we rushed to the store. The two little dogs got a passing grade: there were nicks on their ears, one had a cut on her back from the razor, but their nails were clipped. They had bathed the very gentle German Shepherd, but didn't attempt to de-she'd him, cut his nails, do his anal glands, ears, or his eyes. He too had been nicked, but by what? They wouldn't admit to any of the injuries. Like another reviewer, I had to pay full price for a full groom when all they did was bathe our German shepherd (no de-shedding was done, as I said earlier, evidenced by the clumps of hair that fell out on the ride home. ) We shall not return for any reason. There are so many great shops that are locally owned. They will get my business. Pet Smart will not be bothered with us in the future. i gave 1 star because the system does not permit no stars. read more

The did not do the anal glands because they said Hershey was not having it (understood) but was very calm otherwise. then they bring him out and he is scalped on his nose and gave me a very poor excuse of he had a reaction to the Cologne. WTF. This has never happened before and he's 2. Then they told me he had a reaction to the calming pills, again WTF. He's never had this before and he's 2. My original appointment was with Dominique she had groomed him before. I live in Palmdale and there's two other petsmarts here but I loved the work Serena and Dominique had done with him. I get a call on Monday I think and they told me Dominique wasn't going to be there but they would reschedule my appointment with someone else. I assumed it was going to be with a professional not a beginner. So I went in today and she starts telling me he's matted really bad from his ears, his chest and his legs. Which they didn't feel like that I brush him out every other day. She automatically wanted me to shave him off and I told her no I didn't want to shave him. I told her I was willing to let her cut half of his hair. She called and still tried to get me to shave it off. And I told her no. That she could cut half his hair. Anyway! She gets another one of her coworkers to call me and tell me that walker would be ready in 20 minutes. And pick him up and I was furious I just needed to leave. She butchered his fur. She didn't even try to blend it or make it look decent. Never again am I going there ever again. I would drive 45 minutes to this place. What a disappointment. read more

Having two dogs and two cats, I'm frequently making visits to pet stores. This one is my pet store of choice for several reasons. 1) It's close to home. I can easily just make a left of of the Lyons exit and I'm there in a hop, skip and a jump! 2) We adopted our first pup here, Spirit. She's an angel. Yeah, she has her quirks, but I couldn't imagine life without her. We adopted her from Rainbow Rescue but there are several rescue agencies that set up every weekend at this location. 3) We put Spirit through an 8 week obedience training course here and the trainer was fantastic. Spirit was a handful when she was 9 months old, but this trainer really took charge and set Spirit on a good course for becoming the sweetheart she is today. 4) We visit the cats here often. PetSmart is not like a normal pet store that sells cats from breeders. They are mostly just rescued cats or cats that the owners couldn't take care of anymore. I hate that they are locked up in cages and it breaks my heart. I want to adopt them all! 5) They carry just about everything you would need for your pet. The store is always clean and I never have to wait long to purchase all of the food, treats and toys I gather for my fur babies every time I just run in for one thing! Dammit! ;) read more

This review is for the grooming department. STAY away!!!. I do not recommend taking your dog here. I paid full price for a grooming that they did not even do a complete job on. They only took her a bath and cut her hair from her back. They told me that they could not finish the job because she was trying to bite. Why couldn't they just tell me that from the beginning and not charge me for the haircut? I asked for a discount and the manager refused because she said it was not their fault. So I ended up paying full price plus special handling fee for a job that was not even half way complete. read more

This review is about PetSmart training. We brought our rescue dog to be evaluated by the head trainer so we could decide what type of class or private lessons to sign up for. I have experience training my first pup when we got him years ago, but our new rescue had some challenging behaviors, so I went in for help. What I found was, the trainer obviously loved dogs, wanted to help, and knew the PetSmart program well. However, he was not able to give me suggestions for my dog who obviously needed something different from the typical "lure with a treat" and clicker training program. He assured me that he had ideas for my dog, so I paid for two private training sessions and enrolled in a class. After spending way too much money on the private training classes we hadn't made any progress. Since he didn't know how to help us, he printed out a few different articles for me to read at home. Unfortunately, after two private sessions, I didn't get the information I needed to help my dog. I ended up getting a refund for the classes we never started. Bottom line, great staff but the person we worked with didn't know much about different methods of training or general dog behavior. read more

I've been to a handful of Petsmarts and Petcos and this one is hands down the most cleanest and customer friendly pet store around. The grooming area is very clean and though pretty cookie cutter for whatever dog they cut, the price is more than fair since they cut nails and give your dog a bath. I recently did an 8 week dog training for $119 for my Shih-Tzu and it was a great experience. I originally expected a socialization class where my dog can meet some new dogs but by the end of the session I got my dog to do about 10 different tricks. My dog is much more docile and will eventually save your life. read more

Amy is the best groomer I have ever had. I have 4 dogs (one has the absolute WORST seizures) and Amy is the only one I trust. Amy is the only one who can cut my Pomeranian (lola) the exact way I like and she is so caring with my 2 chihuahuas nail trims. She takes her time with my dog who has seizures and she goes the extra mile to make sure he feels safe and comfortable. The worst experience ever. Never again PetSmart. I took appointment for grooming services and they were very busy they asked my husband to wait with dog outside for more than 30 minutes. The minute my husband and dog went in the groomer called Josh pushed my dog against the wall to try to put leash on and take my dog inside. My dog didn't like it and started to be nervous. Then he made a comment about how the dog is shedding too much so I am assuming he was not in the mood to do his job that day. Then he made a comment to my husband that he is scared my dog will bite him. By the way my dog was going there for grooming the last two years. I only heard how sweet she is and fine to work with. Also, she doesn't bite. Anyway, he was probably scared or lazy to do his job. So he told my husband we can't take her. I couldn't go so I was home and when my husband came I decided to call them and ask what happened and then reschedule. Then, a girl called Jessi answered and the minute I mentioned my dog name she started screaming at me saying my dog tried to bite them and she is not trained. So, I guess this is how pet smart treats their regular customers instead of taking time to explain anything. No one should be treated like this especially at the end of the day my dog didn't bite anyone. The issue was them didn't know how to approach her nicely. I understand they have the right to refuse taking my dog but they have no right to scream at me when I called trying to understand the situation. This review is for the grooming salon only. They do a good job most of the time. I've had good and not so good experiences. Last time my dog who is extremely loving cane back with his nails really short he kept whimpering and his eye was injured. It took a week to recover, as much as I wanted to report it I let's it go. I also noticed his hair was very choppy maybe the person who took him was new and that why it happened. Anyhow, for $80 something it should not. I always pre book an appt with all needed services I still cannot understand why it takes nearly 6 hours with an appt.Anyhow this weekend he was groomed and although it took 5/12 hours to pick him up . I wouldn't recommend anyone taking their dogs there .. i took my puppy 2 weeks ago and i guess they shaved his butt so much that now he coughed an infection he has blisters and this has never happened before in other locations! I am soo upset my poor baby does not want to be outside he only hides from everyone im treating him with some creams and remedies since i dont have much money to afford paying so much in a vet .. im so upset and i dont recomend nobody taking their pets there please take care of you pets read more

Came in for a nail trim for my dog. I wanted the hair around her paws and pads also trimmed so I chose the "pawdicure" option that is supposed to include a nail trim and grind, light trimming around paws/pads, ear cleaning and a sanitary trim. The gal that helped me told me she didn't need a nail trim, so she would just grind them-okay cool. But then when I got her back I noticed she didn't trim any hair around her feet or bum, then she said "well we don't ever do that." Then why did you charge me for a full service pawdicure if all you did was a nail grind? She offered to trim the hair after I complained but I declined because she didn't even seem to know what their grooming menu entailed. Business lost. read more

We have 3 dogs (great dane, yorkie,and english bull dog) that we treat like royalty and there is no other place I'd take them but here. We've tried other grooming place but nothing compares to the love and attention they give them here. This review is for PetSmart grooming salon-- One the day of the appointment I forgot the time of my appointment so I called the grooming salon exactly at 9am (that's when they open) no one answered so I called 3 additional times and finally someone picked up at 10:10am and told me my appointment was at 10am. I asked if I can bring my pet and then I was put on hold. Finally, someone from the grooming salon answered and said I needed to reschedule because I was 10 minutes late? Additionally, they didn't send any text messages reminding me of the appointment which they said they would on the day I scheduled the appointment or pick up my calls earlier so I could have made it to the appointment session. The lady was rude and didn't offer any other hours. They don't have any respect for the customers time so save your time and take your pets to some other grooming salon. IF this is how they treat human beings than I wonder how they treat pets! read more

I love this Santa Clarita location because everyone is friendly, knowledgeable, and really seems to care about the animals. The groomers do a great job at a good price. The people get 5 stars!! The pricing is what I have problems with.... that gets 3 stars. I dislike the surcharge for weekend and holidays, just that's a corporate thing, not the groomers fault. Pet stores sort of depress me. I know that they buy excess amounts of the small animals (ie. mice and goldfish) and then they often times don't take proper care of them resulting in their death. This makes me sad. But, I have pets, so it's pretty hard to avoid pet stores. I have to buy supplies for my turtles roughly every month and this store is both the closest to my house and the cheapest. And for this reason I have to go there. I find that it's hard to locate someone to help you when you want to purchase fishies. More than one time I have had to walk around the store looking for a sales associate or have a cashier page them. That's a little frustrating when all I want is 8 small fish. But, when I'm just walking in and out with my purchases this place is fine. The cashiers are all very nice. And even though I feel like they don't know too much about actual pet ownership (especially when straying away from dogs/cats) I don't really need them for that. I can figure things out for my turtles without their help; just so long as they keep the doors opened for my supplies. read more

This review is strictly for the grooming salon. I'd give negative stars if I could. We brought our dog in around 12:30. When we dropped him off, the groomer said that they're very busy and to please allow about 4 hours. (Which I was totally ok with). We got a call around 5 saying that our dog has been ready for hours and that we are being charged an "overnight " fee because it's after 4. I told the girl on the phone that's ridiculous and this was the first call I've received. She was extremely rude and continued to argue with me. When I got there, I explained to the girl who was up front what happened and she removed the charge. The girl who I talked to on the phone came out of the back and started arguing with me again. I pulled a Karen and let the store manager, (Cory) know what happened. He was very courteous and apologetic. I just don't want them to pull that on other customers. Cory offered to give me 20% off our next grooming but our dog will not be going back which is sad because we really like his normal groomer, Dominique. read more

It's been long over due. Snoopy needed his nail clipping & grinding service. I've been postponing it cause Petsmart seems so far away. But i forgot that there's this location off of Pico Canyon road. I read the reviews, a lot of people seemed to be having bad experience with the grooming department. and made me worried. but i went anyways to try it out myself. Got there at 3pm on a friday and was quickly greeted by a guy in a bow tie.. it was an usuall. But he way pretty friendly. I didn't even have to update his Rabbies paperwork. Apparently it's already in the systems. I somehow thought each location didn't have a link... but they were. Must have been an upgrade or something. He had me sign some paperwork and then he took Snoopy off my hands. I warned him that he may need to muzzle him. Then he took Snoopy to the back and did his grinding. He doesn't seemed to be muzzled... i went ahead to go pay for the service. And before i was done, he was already done. Snoopy was waiting patiently with the guy. I asked how it went if he tried to show his teeth and growl. he said he didnt do anything at all. Seemes to be friendly and harmless. He used the methods of grinding it from the back. Flipping his paws backwards. Ive seen them do that before so they don't get bit. Clever! i will definitely take him back again. read more

I can honestly say that it was a wonderful experience. The only thing is that it's a bit pricey but the service was amazing. Brought my 7month old Siberian husky and was kinda like "fk, shit is expensive". Total was $91 for the following : Furm $15, K9 Flea crap to have fleas tics etc away from her during the summer $24. And ofcourse the Husky Grooming price wich was $52. But whatever when I received her she loooked gorgeous. I will attach the photo of her and you can definitely notice the difference. The groomers name was William at first I was like kinda worried haha but after the results I was really happy with the outcome. When I received I wad told that she was well behaved and she was more frightened of the water than the blow dryer.... read more

I used to shop Petco, until I discovered that their prices are higher than Petsmart on everything. Since then, I only shop here. The store is OK, staff knowledge varies. They were able to give me some good recommendations on how to stop my barking dog. Some staff members are only knowledgeable enough to tell you where a product is. If you shop just before closing, they have a tendency to close all but one of the registers so expect a longer than normal checkout line within 15 minutes of closing. The cashiers though are friendly and they always have treats ready for my dog under the counter. The grooming services are the best here. They are a great value compared to any other grooming shop I tried. For $20, my dog can get a bath and brush which is great. read more

This pet smart is usually gross. You can never find a worker to help you out, or they themselves don't even know what they are talking about. The worst is this male sales employee that is always on the floor. His breath is just FOUL. I feel so rude saying such a thing, but it makes me never want to talk to him. I always have to hold my breath and quickly reply. I always watch other customers have the look of disgust on their face. Weird to watch, yet pretty entertaining. Betta fish owners beware I purchased a pagoda style house for my betta he became trapped in a small slit in the leg of pagoda house and died (I posted a picture warning its heartbreaking) I only had the house for a week. I was vey devastated. Went to store to let them know about design flaw spoke to manager (Katrina) She asked me if I had a receipt. SERIOUSLY??? My betta is dead I think that's a receipt enough. Blown away by lack of compassion. I've had my betta since Christmas I really enjoyed my betta Mr. Miyagi . Now he's gone because of a design flaw.
