Do not bring your dogs here to be groomed! i took my one year old Australian shepherd to be groomed with a sanitation cut. Not only did my dog not get a sanitation cut because it was " hard to get too" but they aggressively combed out my puppies Mats behind her ears to the point that her skin was showing and pink! They could have used a clipper... overall my dogs hair cut was uneven, they hurt her ears and the place had fur from Previous haircuts all over the place. Place was filthy. I am disgusted with PetSmart; they mutilated my dog and didn't even apologize! My husband went to pick her up and handed her to him as he was holding our infant daughter because I was out of town for the day. When he received the dog they said no charge. Frustrated and not wanting to cause a major scene he took our crying baby and our dog out of the store. Calling me angry and frustrated. I came home a few hours later and our older daughter hysterically crying because our dog looked like a cancer survivor. They didn't even finish the job! DO NOT GET YOUR PET GROOMED HERE!!!! Please for the LOVE of GOD never leave your pet here!!!! I took my 4lb 5 1/2 lb Shih Tzu for a mini-groom. They had her for 4 hours!!!! At hour 3 I called and was like what's going on???? I was told she was almost done and I could come pick her up. When they were walking her out to me, I thought they were bringing me the wrong dog!!! They had shaved my 4lb puppy down to her skin!!!!! When I made the appointment online, I put in the comments mini-groom. When I dropped her off, I was VERY EXPLICIT!!!! Just trim her!!! I even said, I do not want the clippers used on her! We like her fluff, we do NOT want her shaved!!!! As if shaving her and holding her hostage for 4 hours wasn't bad enough, she started throwing up. She threw up 3 times before I even got out of the store and she was shaking like crazy!!! I've never seen my puppy like this!!! She is very friendly and loving! She loves being around kids, cats and other dogs! She was literally scared to death!!! This was not her first groom- she has been groomed twice before and she did NOT react this wasy. She was perfectly fine after her previous grooms!!!! PLEASE find somewhere else to get your dog groomed!!! I'd like to start by saying everyone was incredibly nice, very helpful, and extremely trained in customer service. That being said, the grooming staff is extremely inexperienced. I brought my dog there four separate times for grooming. Each cut getting worse. He is a 5 1/2 pound Maltese and they were afraid of him. His haircut came back different every time, while giving the same instructions each time for his haircut. Also, this breed tends to have tear stains. Two out of four times, he came home still with tear stains. Which, if he is groomed properly, the tear stains do wash away. I've had to touch up his grooming each time he came home. I feel the grooming staff is extremely inexperienced and will not be bringing my dog back. read more

Evidently there is still a problem because after not losing a single fish in the past two years my tank got wiped out in less than a week after adding the new fish. Please do not waste your time and money using PetSmart grooming for your dog. I am really disappointed that I gave them a second chance. Originally the first time I used them the groomer was demanding I shave down my goldendoodle or else she would not do a haircut and bath. She is no longer with them so I returned for a bath, brush out, sanitary/hygiene with nails and paw pads. I paid extra for Express service . When I picked him up over 1 1/2 hrs later and he relieved himself outside, I noticed he did not have a sanitary trim to his anus. I returned to the store from the parking lot and they acknowledged it was not done but would be done since I paid for it. When I got hm home I checked and saw that the sanitary trim was really lacking both to his anus and belly area. His nails were done nicely but his paw pads looked as if they weren't touched. Please do not take your dogs to this place since they appear to be very unprofessional and lacking in their ability to actually groom a dog. I have never found it necessary to check my dog's belly or anus to make sure the service is paid for was done. It was a total waste of money but more importantly they were in my opinion not trustworthy so I would be very careful with having them handle your dog. read more

I would give no star if possible. I have shopped this permit for years. I get my dog's food delivered through a scheduled service. However we also have fish and sometimes I need to go into the store for supplies. the last few times the girl working in the fish department was rude and dismissive. unfortunately she was working today and I came in to purchase some aquarium supplies and a few new fish to add to my tank. I wish the department could be self serve as there is never anyone in it and then when you ask for help they act like they would help at all. very rude and staff and they gather together in the corner and don't help anyone. you are never greeted the store is a mess. even the ferret habitat has a hole in it with tape over it. the mouse cages and feces everywhere . this is the last time I will ever shop here again. I will also find another service for my dog food too. let I get better staff your store in st. Augustine is horrible ! read more

Came here to buy some fish . Had to wait forever to purchase them . I also wanted to buy a new second tank. Finally after waiting some time some guy with piercings in his nose dressed in street clothes shows up asking if I needed help . When I said I just wanted to get some fish he got a huge attitude with me, but went and got someone to help . When I got home I noticed my purchased tank was missing a couple components to it. I called and asked for a manager and she was very nice!!! I explained about the missing parts and she politely explained she would get the missing parts out another setup and leave for me to come back and pick up . When I arrived I saw the parts she left. The problem however is she was no longer there ( possibly on break) and the staff gave me a super hard time about picking it up . They hesitated to call her and almost didn't believe me. Although the people were nice and worked me into their schedule on short notice , they had no idea how to do a simple puppy cut! And the price was over twice the cost of my regular groomer! My Mom just left Petsmart after first being mistreated at PetSupermarket- The supermarket refused to honor my moms coupon for tenth bag of food free & the manager was rude to the point my mom left in tears... THANKFULLY petSMART was smart enough to be KIND and even gave my mom a discount to cheer her up. This is a brand new store just built in the old KMart shopping center, and gives St. Augustine pet owners another shopping location to purchase items for their pets. You can find anything you need for dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, hamsters, etc all under one roof, and everything is priced pretty well- especially if you join their free PetPerks program. The store is brand spanking new, and it looks great- very clean, well organized and stocked, and is a pet-friendly store to do all your shopping. Not only can you buy everything you need for your sidekick, but they also have a grooming station and a veterinarian inside the store, so it is literally a one-stop shop for anything pet related. The staff is friendly, and I enjoyed walking around checking out all the items. I could give it five stars, but the size of this store is somewhat disappointing- this is the smallest PetSmart I have ever visited. The layout is virtually similar to all other stores, and they definitely have everything you'd need for all types of pets, but it does seem to be a bit smaller and cramped than other stores I've been to. Still, it is very clean, easy to find what you're looking for, very well stocked, and everyone is friendly. A great place to shop if you're in the area, and I'd say definitely check it out if you haven't been yet. read more

I booked a grooming appointment with Groomer Alaska and what a mistake! She was very unprofessional and rude. I dropped my dog (yorkie) off at approximately 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 am appointment. She estimated the grooming to be approximately 3 hours. I did not hear back from her so after 3 hours, I returned to the store and she said it would take another 35 min. or so. I proceeded to shop around the store and wait. After the 35 min. wait, I approached the window and that is when I saw her bring my dog out to actually begin the grooming. This is totally unacceptable. After questioning her as to why it was taking so long for my dog to get groomed she just basically said "she's a slow groomer." I walked out frustrated and 20 min. later I received a text that my dog was ready for pick up. Upon pick-up, I questioned her as to why she had my dog crated for 4 hours to just then only spend 20 min. on grooming him. She rudely said again that she was a slow groomer and since I had a problem with it then to book my next appointment with Annie (my regular groomer). I told her due to the unprofessionalism I received that I would not be back again. I have been using Petsmart Grooming for many years, and never had an issue up until now. In addition to my pet sitting there for over 4 1/2 hours, she did a horrible job in grooming my pet. On my way home I noticed that although my dog was trimmed, he did not smell like he was freshly bathed as there was no fresh scent on him. He still had a musky scent to him so I strongly believe she skipped the bathing part just to rush it because she was under pressure to get my dog done. To pay over $64 for a full grooming service and have this horrible experience is appalling and I feel like I was a ripped-off. I will not be utilizing this PetSmart location ever again. I rather have my money well spent at another grooming salon that respects and appreciates their customers. read more

This is a racist place. I advise all African American or interracial couples to never go to this store. I took my dog in to see about a haircut and my dog was so afraid to go into the groomer area so I took him back outside so he could come down. I returned to see if I could meet the person that would be cutting his hair so my dog would feel better about coming the next day. I was ignored by four of the women and now that the girl at the desk asked to help me in an unassured voice I told her that maybe now I can see why my dog is acting this way. The other girl comes from the back and yells at me telling me that the dog is acting that way because of how I brought him in. I walked in calmly with my dog even though he was afraid I still was calm. The girl who said this did not even see me or my dog walk in but instantly wanted to make me out to be the problem when clearly it was someone from the last time that I took him for a haircut. I started arguing with her telling that she didn't even know what was going on and immediately she screams I am calling the police and reached for the phone. I was so offended that I went off and no customers surround me as if was the cursing and yelling at me but it was ok for the customer and worker s to yell at me but I get the police called on me and given a trespass charge as well as my wife who never entered the store at all which was ordered by the manager who also ran up on me and saw the customer and worker yelling at me and of course she tells me that I had to leave and she was calling the police. The police came as I I was a criminal and put me and my wife in the car while the manager is yelling to the police to bathe us with trespass. I could not believe that being black in America makes it ok for someone to treat them like diet because they can and will get away with it. This is ridiculous and I am just so glad that my kids did not go there with me. I wouldn't want them to ever have to feel like everybody that's not black can treat you bad and you are the one who will always be the criminal. read more

I took my dog, Lila, for bath and shave. I was told it would be 3-4 hours. Two hours later, I got the call to pick her up. When we got back in the car, I found a flea and noticed some longer clumps on her head so we went back into the store. Showing groomer Lila's hair, another flea scurried across her head. The groomer trimmed the hair and Lila and I went back to the car. Again, I found some patches of hair that needed more trimming (head, arm pits, back, sides, paws) but I was aggravated and didn't want to cause a scene so decided to take care of it myself. A wasted $57. I wish I could post photos. I'm very very disappointed. A lot of $$ for a bath and a shave. No special haircut; just a buzz all over. read more

This store is quite nice and has some Great and very helpful employees. However, they have a Banfield Vet Hospital and it is not good. I recently adopted a cat AT this Petsmart and received a coupon for a free Wellness check by the Veterinarian. The cat had dirty ears and slightly red eyes (from being in the county shelter). My free exam had extra charges to check his ears, his eyes and even more to do any lab work. The optic ointment cost twice what it does at my local Vets. They were more interested in what they could charge than in caring for the pet. Google reviews of their contracts on "Wellness Plans" are even scarier. Although it is nice to finally have a Petsmart in St. Aug, the corporate decisions on this sub-contractor are a great lack in judgment and probably a violation of some consumer laws. I know some Univ. of Florida Veterinary School professors who are appalled that a "wellness exam" does not include an eye & ear check. Can you say "Bait and Switch"? read more

Customer Service Needs Major Overhaul!!! Their hours are until 9pm. I called at 7:30pm, to get a price to have my dog groomed and was told I could go online to get that information, that their grooming salon closed at 7:00pm. However, the gentleman I was speaking to worked in the grooming salon & said that in order for him to give me a price he would have to bring his whole system up, acting as though it was a major inconvenience. I would give zero stars if that was an option. I ordered a huge booda step litter box online. It arrived missing the entire bottom piece. Since you cannot use it without this, I had to drive a half an hour each way only for the manager (if that is what they call the rude woman who waited on us) to act as if she was actually the one being put out in having to exchange it. So it is the customers fault that petsmart ships half a product and then the customer has to drive all the way to exchange it? I was told that the store had to take the loss on the half a product. Well take that up with petsmart don't be rude to the customer. We will never again shop at this rude store. This is such a wonderful store in Saint Augustine, Fl . I came in over the weekend late morning early afternoon and saw a lady come in with a dog that looked dead she rushed it to the animal hospital. I saw a store employee that was working in the fish area ask the lady if she was ok and she sat and gave the lady a hug while she was on a bench crying and the employee had tears in her eyes. I stayed to see what was going on and I asked the girl in the fish department she said she was not sure but said the lady looked like she needed a hug and someone to talk to. It is nice to see people that care. And so nice to see a vet clinic take an animal in as the owner rushed in. I found everything I needed and everyone was so friendly. This PetSmart needs to become a KMart again. I have used PetSmart and their grooming service for many years and in many states. This one is paws down the worst. The groomer asked several questions about how I wanted the coat done, nails etc. Then she hacked the coat, did not do the nails or teeth or even brush out the coat when finished. The groomer did annotate that my dog was easy to groom. Certainly appears as though all that was done was my dog was hosed down and stuck in a cage to dry, guess that qualifies as easy to groom.
