First time using PetSmart since I moved to Richmond. My boy was looking really rough! I was injured a few months back and still recovering from surgery. His coat blew in the middle of all of this and I couldn't get him in while on crutches and had no one to take him. Aussie shepherd, 13 years old and deaf. I've had him most of his adult life but he can be reactive. He had some matting under his legs that I couldn't get to in brushing. Serenity pulled him in and and he had no concerns with her she made sure she could relieve the matting before I left and she succeeded! He looked comfortable with her and I felt okay leaving. I brought my dog in for her first grooming appointment and had a very disappointing experience. When I arrived, the young lady at the front desk told me they couldn't take my dog because her hair was matted. She then said my dog might need to be put to sleep just to get her hair cut and suggested I take her to a vet to be shaved and checked for sores. She also mentioned that the noise and other dogs might scare her. After leaving, I called multiple groomers and veterinary grooming services. Every single one told me that sedation was not necessary at all. The only issue was availability--they were booked. Petco was able to get her in this Friday and said they would simply shave her down, no extreme measures needed. I truly feel they just didn't want to deal with my dog. The information I was given was not only incorrect but caused unnecessary stress. Considering I paid for a grooming service that they refused to even attempt, I would like a refund. I cannot recommend this place based on my experience. read more

The worst place ever for grooming. I brought my small dog in for her first cut. Jonathan took her from my hands straight to the table with no introduction and put the razors to her to see if she can handle it. This all happened in less than a minute. What happened to warming up to the dog a bit. An introduction. She had literally had 1 sec with him before he put a loud razor to her. Now maybe she is not ready since she is a rescue, I understand, noted. But I still think this was not handled correctly. He showed No patience or care for the dog. He didn't try to Warm her up to him first. Then test your theory. He just Completely said no it's dangerous. Now What dog getting its first cut, small dog at a young age is going to be OK with a stranger they literally had a 1 seconds with holding a live noisy motorized razor at them. There may be other people there that work well with the dogs for grooming because it looks like a busy place but my suggestion is, do not go to Jonathan. He doesn't have any compassion for the animals. I think Jonathan is a little more complacent with these animals and doesn't have the patience for it. He wants to get the animals and move to just get it done. So if you go to this location, see someone else just say no to Jonathan. read more

I stopped here to look at some cat merch. I ended up purchasing a couple outfits for my cats plus a toy, but I didn't buy my main need: a cat carrier. For that, I opted for Amazon, which had the same quality for half the price. Seriously expensive here. So PetSmart is good for some needs every now and again. Chewy and Amazon remain my main hubs. But I will say the clerk who checked me out was super super friendly. Like way more friendly than I ever was when I worked for the retailer for a few months in college. Good for him. read more

If I could give -1 star rating I would. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was on hold more than 40 minutes for the manager to "research" if I paid to have my dogs nails trimmed but I was told to come come. I called today to have her nails trimmed and was told No. I didn't pay for it and that is just hear say and they will not clip my dogs nails until I pay for it AGAIN. This is the last time I will ever use pet smart for grooming and will never spend a penny at this business again. It's the point I for nails to be trimmed, called me a liar, and dismissed me. I even spoke to the Moran manager who doesn't know what he is doing! He said he would have to call the employee at home and ask if what I am saying is true. Who has time for this?! Took my dog and always had satisfied work done on my Buddy. I picked him up and they were to have bath him and fermenated him due to his thick coat. When I got him home his staining at the eyes were not cleaned. He's coat did not smell like he was cleaned unlike the other times we took him. His nails were to be cut and filed. Nails were unevenly cut and not filed down. I am very disappointed with the services received unlike before. I don't know what has changed since the last time we took him there and I do not recommend going here with your animals. Quality is very unsatisfactory and I will not be taking him back. read more

I have taken my dachsund to be groomed here several times (mostly because of the convenient location), but up to my most recent visit, I hadn't been all that pleased. For one, they only ever had time to trim his nails (even when I brought him in at 2:00pm) and closed early on several occasions - on top of the fact that PetSmart *never* updates their website with changes to their grooming salon hours, so I've twice had to drive crosstown to another pet store to have my dog groomed. The last time I needed my dog's nails trimmed, I arrived at the store a half-hour before closing and half-suspected that the salon would already be closed - it was, but a groomer named Sheri saw me exiting the store with some exasperation and chased after me asking if I had needed any service from the grooming salon. I said I that I did and she kindly invited me back in, patiently trimmed my dachsund's nails with all the stealth of a dog whisperer (it was the first time my dog did not have a total conniption fit in the process) and then gave me a coupon for a complimentary nail trimming for my next visit! I was very impressed and will happily return to this PetSmart for any of my dog's future grooming (and/or nutritional) needs. read more

The store opens up early for grooming. I needed to have my dogs nails trimmed. There is a doorbell to the left of the front door. I rang and rang and rang, but no one ever came out to open the door. I found that you just have to pry their door apart and walk to the back, because no one will answer the door bell. If you have made it this far on your visit, things will be good from here. The staff in the pet grooming is friendly, fast and good with my dog. The nail trim is affordable and fast. They got me in and out in about 10 minutes. Im not really a "pet person" but i stopped by here today with my boyfriend... Simply to get dog food. These people who work here are always very friendly and helpful. As soon as i walk in, a lady sees me looking at cats through the window and starts talking to me asking if I needed help.. I wanted to say yes, i will take this tabby right here, but no-can-do.. My bf is allergic... :( anyhoo, while we are walking towards the dog food, our dog scotch walks up to this ladys dog and is basically just sniffing him and the lady gets all indignant... And upset.. Who does that? Isnt it obvious all dogs smell other dogs... The store worker didnt even flinch during this commotion, although the lady was a little shook by my bf asking of she had a problem lol... Ayhoo. Had a nice trip to the store, my daughter enjoyed the other animals... Birds, chinchillas, rats, fish... Best part for me... The tabby in the back... Had to pull myself away... :( read more

So I have now bought 2 bearded dragons, a huge terrarium and every single type of accessory you can think of..including fish for my tank...I finally racked up enough points to get some money back..so I decided to get a huge leveled resting spot for my bearded dragons that I had been eying since I got them .come to find out that it has been in the wrong spot with the wrong pricing for all this time, but not just one product was out of wack, but two were..when I asked if I could get it for the price it had be on display for this whole time I was told no..like no discount or nothing..I left there without buying the items I had come in there for..and won't be back! Took my dog to get groomed today and it took 5 hours!!!! She is a short haired 20lb beagle why so long? Why was her fur so choppy looking when nothing was supposed to be cut? Her sanitary trim was uneven and still long in some places!!! She was still damp when I picked her up and the smell good spray that was supposedly sprayed was non existent . My baby smells like a wet dog. The groomer did great the first time I brought my dog here but I won't be returning due to poor quality now! In love with the young cashier girl with the long black hair! & pretty nails ! She greets everyone with such a happy smile , checks on the customers , asks how was our day , & generally helps . She doesn't know much animal questions but she's very honest & Calls on her employee who knows more than her just so she can be sure with the information she's giving us . Another typical Petsmart where you pay way too much for stuff you can get online for a quarter the price. The only thing worth coming here for is a dog crate IF its on sale. Otherwise I suggest online shopping for sure. read more

Where do I begin ....My dog I'd 9.5 years old and was disgustingly mistreated at the grooming salon today. I made her an 11:30 appt and I admit that I was a little late but was told that my dog couldn't be seen when she was working on a dog during my dogs appt time .....
