I have a long haired cat who really hates having his nails trimmed and refuses to be brushed…read moreanywhere other than his head and chin. Victor, my cat had a lot of painful knots and very long and sharp nails that he wouldn't let me anywhere near. I decided that Victor could benefit from a visit to a professional groomer, someone who could handle a feisty 9 pound cat who gives no warnings before he flashes his razor sharp talons. I called multiple groomers in Richmond but didn't feel comfortable with how they did it. Most, if not all of the places I called mostly groomed dogs, rarely cats. They all wanted me to drop off my cat early in the morning and pick him up hours later. I didn't want my cat waiting who knows how long in a cage with barking dogs within sight, I thought it would be too stressful so I kept looking. I am fortunate to have found Laura Lee. She answered all of my questions over the phone and didn't make me feel like an over protective weirdo. I wanted to wait with/for my cat and be within sight and Laura was fine with that, she actually wanted me there to help my cat not be so stressed out. The area where Laura works is spacious, clean and professional. We discussed how Victor would be groomed, nail trim and a lions cut. Laura must be a cat whisperer because while we were talking she was trimming his nails, I didn't even realize she was doing it until she was done. She didn't need to hold him down or wrestle him to do it, she just trimmed his nails while he stood there. AMAZING! Victor seemed to enjoy getting shaved and only protested a little towards the end. Laura is very gentle and caring and I trust her with my baby. For Victor's entire life (11 yrs) he was a loner and a little grumpy. He preferred to nap alone in hard to reach places and didn't hang out like the other cats. After being shaved he became a social, cuddly bouncy kitten. He became a super sweet cat who wanted to be held and rubbed all the time. If you have a long haired cat I suggest you have him or her shaved/ groomed by Laura. Cats love the way it feels and you will defiantly notice. Laura's rates are also very reasonable. Don't forget to tip!!!

We have been taking our dogs there for over 5 years. Never an issue. As for the lady complaining…read moreabout not taking dog if shots weren't up to date or expiring during their time away. That's a stupid remark. Didn't want to over-vaccinate your dog? Please. There are state guidelines that they must follow. Sounds to me that alot of the complaints are not even legit or petty. And then you have the complaint of someone being charged for dropping off a little early. Well everything is digital nowadays so when you check them in it registers the time. Why didn't you just wait a few more minutes to drop dog off? Again, petty.

After my dogs boarding from Friday afternoon to mid Monday morning, I was informed that during his Monday morning bath, the groomer noticed a "hot spot" on his back leg. Upon further examination, it appeared to be an actual wound, not a hot spot. From god knows what. Then as I kept looking him over, I realized he had a giant black spot on his front leg. I thought it was a scab but once I started messing with it, it seemed like gum or some sort of tar. Once that was removed, I noticed his paw. That's when I saw that 3 of his paw pads were stuck together with the same type of tar / gum substance. I had to use a ton of goo gone and patience to get it off him. He does not like his paws being messed with but once he realized I was giving him some relief, the process went smoother. Regardless, I shouldn't have had to do any of that. Disappointed with the level of "care" my pup got and how he was given back to me.
