I love bringing Zeus here. Zeus loves the pool and the service is great. I call it the one-stop-shop for dogs. Need to board your dog and forgot his vaccinations they will do it while he is in their care. Easy!!! Didn't groom your dog, nails tapping the floor, they got you. Your furry family member will come home smelling brand new and no more tapping on the floor. Maybe you don't need to board your child but want to pamper him/her they got that. They even offer to do it yourself. Wash and dry pet wash. Just like the car wash. Fun!!! It's hot outside enjoy a private day poolside with you and your friend. They can schedule that. On February 23,2026 I took my beagle to Chenault veterinary Hospital in Ashland Virginia. To get my dog, a rabies shot and to check for an ear infection. Dr. loverett after two jabs into my dog was unable to give her a rabies shot. At which point I decided to go somewhere else. Also, I got medicine for a yeast infection in her ear that was mislabeled. It was labeled right ear and for a week that's what she got. At which time I went to my regular vet and her infection is in her left ear. The vet showed me it was in her left ear. I tried to get a hold of the office manager, and she declined to take my calls. Instead, they decided to fire me as a patient after going therefore 15 years. Great doctors, great staff, excellent customer service. Don't be swayed by some negative reviews. Go, ask for a tour and make your own decisions. If you go once and write a negative review, you're not giving any business a chance. Don't like something?, speak to the office manager. We have two dogs under 10 pounds. One is a puppy and was spayed recently. We opted for the laser cauterization. The incision healed quickly and you can't even see it. Really give businesses a second chance. Namaste! read more

Worst vet I've been to. I went there today on 08/18/23 and I was charged $172, when I was told over the phone it would be $76 and only a office visit. They drew blood without asking, and gave me ointment which they said they would give me to help, and just added it to my bill without asking. They did extra work, without asking or telling me a price, and charged me nearly $200. read more

I wish there were a negative 5 star option because I would surely use it. We have taken our babies to the Ladysmith Vet location since they were 8 weeks old- they are now 8yrs. old. My girl Delilah had been limping on her right back leg and we could get in quicker at the Chenault Hopsital on Hill Carter Parkway in Ashland quicker so we took her there-as well as getting their annual visit taken care of. Was told everything looked fine- just a pulled muscle. 7 days later she was very weak and not eating or drinking-take her back and they ( Chenault himself) said she was dehydrated and gave her Ivs and ran "tests" said she would be drastically different in 24 hrs...she passed away 20 hrs. later. When we took her emergency vet-because of the hour-we are lead to believe they should have done an ultrasound. When my husband questioned they facility they said they don't have that technology there...WHAT??? Isn't this a hospital?? If they had even hinted that she needed more advanced testing we would have taken her ANYWHERE in an instant. Our babies mean the world to us and we would have done anything to save her, instead my husband and daughter had to watch her suffer 20 more hrs. and just comforted her and loved her till her last breath. I know doctors can't fix everything but they didn't do enough testing or give us any other options...we trusted them...never again...my other baby ( Delilah's sister) will NOT go back there!!! Oh- and that day of "tests" that said she was fine was $563.- again, we would have paid anything to save her- I don't know how they can sleep at night just letting our family members suffer...but I guess money helps. Please don't take your babies there and just put money in their pockets. We are a brokenhearted incomplete family because of their incompetence. read more

Horrible location. My husband and I took our cat for a lion's cut due to mats. They claim no responsibility but they clipped the ends of my cat's left whiskers. I would understand admitting to it being accidental but they claim to have done nothing to them. And the crappy groomers just conveniently claim to remember that "they were already that way." We've had this cat for 2 years. And that's the first thing I noticed when we took her out of the crate. There's absolutely no accountability at this location. Considering how sloppy the cut was, it seems like they just hire off-the-street groomers with no professional training. Shameful! read more

A few weeks ago when my cat Sassy was sick I rushed her Chenault Veterinary Hospital in Ashland. I was hesitant because of what he had done to my dog Tuppence many years back. But I was assured it was different now & there were other doctors there now other than Chenault himself. I let them know I was on SS and therefor had limited funds. I was told they would keep the costs down. They wouldn't let me take her home on Tue which I understood. I came back Wed & they insisted she stay. I came back Thurs & I insisted on taking her home. They brought her out & she looked the same as when I had dropped her off. They said her kidneys were failing & she still wasn't eating or drinking but would let me take her home. And they didn't know what had caused her getting sick even w/doing all the blood work they insisted on doing. So I get to the desk & receive my bill for $416.00 FOR WHAT? She was the same as when I brought her home! When I got her home she started eating, drinking & used the litter box without any problems at all. No kidney failure as far as I can tell! So I sent them an email stating how I felt. And how could they charge so much for doing NOTHING at all to help her. For that amount of money I expected a lot more. But all I received was a nasty call from them today. NEVER again will I take any of my critters to them or recommend them. Chenault is the ONLY vet we take out Pittie to. They are so great with him and they always keep us informed of anything necessary. We had a pet emergency and due to a scheduling conflict we had to make an appointment for Sunday (they are not open for vet services Sundays). He hurt his foot pretty badly jumping from a very high vehicle. We took our pup to Dogwood Emergency Vet where they said he was fine, a few days later we went to the Banfield in Short Pump. I had explained all details of what had happened etc. They scheduled out appointment for 3pm. We show up and are informed our pup need to be sedated for X-rays and it was 2 hours until close so there wasn't enough time to bring him out of sedation. Almost $300 and no help for our injured pup. We immediately went to Chenault two days after Banfield and they were amazing. They didn't even need to sedate for the X-ray (our Pittie is very sweet and very easy to handle). He was wrapped up and is doing much better now after meds and some TLC. Chenault is the only place we will take our baby. They care about your little loved ones and they don't mess around when it comes to getting their furry patients on the right track. read more

I have taken both of my dogs to the ladysmith hospital for many years for their yearly checkups, vaccinations, medical care and even grooming at times. Lately, I have only had bad experiences. The staff here has changed and I longer will take any of my pets there or refer them. My 11 year old lab was diagnosed with lymphoma and instead of the veterinarian calling me to give me the blood work results, they had an assistant call me and tell me that he likely had cancer. The assistant couldn't answer any of my questions and told me that the veterinarian wasn't available to speak to me on the the phone about it. This was after 2 weeks of appointments, seeing different veterinarians and a lot of money spent for his care. All the assistant told me was to have him checked out quickly by "someone". I asked him who they used for oncology and the assistant didn't know. So, I took my sweet lab back to our old vet in stafford who thoroughly checked him out, reviewed the aspiration report, confirmed lymphoma, gave me treatment options, the name of a veterinary oncologist and spent a lot of time with my boy. Ladysmith veterinary hospital never called us back to set up an appointment or check on the dog. Unfortunately, our lab deteriorated quickly and we used a lap of love veterinarian to put him down in our home. We could not allow our sweet Jake to suffer and be in pain. I called ladysmith hospital to let them know that we had put Jake down because of seizures and that his ashes would be returned to them. The lady that answered the phone assured me that they would call us when the ashes were delivered. That was 3 weeks ago. I called the pet crematory this morning and they told me that the ashes were delivered to ladysmith 2 weeks ago and were signed for by a lady named Ashley. When I called ladysmith this morning, Ashley answered the phone, confirmed the ashes were there and said oh just pick them up anytime. I asked why we had not been called and she said she didn't know. The whole experience not only shows a complete lack of professionalism but also a complete lack of care and compassion. Learning that a beloved pet has cancer is very difficult. You need to be able to trust that your veterinarian will help you seek the necessary care for your pet and help you with the very hard decisions that you will ultimately face. The animal hospital did not even care enough to let us know our beloved dogs ashes had been sitting there for 2 weeks. read more
