We have been coming there for about a years and we are not very thrilled, but today was the pinnacle of their rudeness. We called to make an appointment on a Saturday and had one and they unilaterally switched it to a Wednesday and did not tell us. They texted an appointment reminder then claimed that we did not show up for the appointment! However, we did not know about this appointment. We called back to reschedule this appointment and they told us that they will not groom our dog, and they were very condescending about it. I also have a medical condition and have to speak a little louder for me to hear and they kept screaming over me and wouldn't even let me speak. This is a ridiculous excuse for a business, and we will never return to this PetSmart . I do not recommend going as I've read through the other reviews and they are just as egregious. BK read more

I had a 1:30 grooming appointment for my dog who had been there several times. Her appointments always take about 1.5 hours. When I arrived, I had to wait until 1:35 to enter the grooming area. A line of 4 other people grew behind me who also said they had 1:30 appointments. My dogs grommer, Joey, then let me know it would be a 2-3 hour wait. I have a small dog who doesn't get a haircut. I expressed that I needed to pick her up by 3:30 for another appointment. It was suggested that I then rebook. I stated that I didn't want to do that and would rather leave her and asked them to call me in an hour if they weren't able to get to her. They continued to talk about how behind they were and explained their process of booking many dogs at once. I expressed that we were wasting her grooming time by continuing to talk and asked if they could just take her back and hopefully she'll be done in time. I even offered to take some of her services off her appointment (which I was told I'd still need to pay for) to make the appointment shorter. I was then told that I had wasted 10 of their minutes as it was now 1:40, despite not even being allowed back in the grooming area until 1:35. I was told I was rude and Joey said she was not mentally comfortable grooming my dog. I always used PetSmart grooming as a last resort, but now it won't ever happen again. read more

Look, it's a pet supermarket so anything you'll ever need to feed, groom, medicate and amuse your animal army is here at a somewhat reasonable price. My feline amigos spend most of their waking hours licking and sniffing each other in places that will remain unspoken, all but making my continuing investment in laboratory-grade super-premium cat food a cruel hoax as they'll apparently eat anything. Where PetSmart goes off the rails is the surveillance gauntlet that you have to run just to check out. Gone are the good old days of "cash or credit" now it's a body cavity free-for-all involving loyalty programs, phone numbers, DNA samples and shotgun philanthropy, all punctuated with paper receipts so long that weeping willows everywhere are literally weeping. All I want to do is shop, pay and leave. Less enjoyable is the public shake down for marketing data and contributions to feed strays in Trenton and Micronesia every time I visit the cashier. I took my Labradoodle in recently for a nail trim & grind.With $5 tip = $25.26. Four days later I noticed that at many of his nails showed little or no signs of being trimmed. I phoned and spoke to the "manager" Eric who asked about my dog's behavior apparently looking for an excuse. After informing him that he was well behaved he informed that he would "provide feedback to the groomer". No offer to redo or refund. Came in to see Victoria(manager) who with no energy asked my pets name then went to computer and says she is giving me a different service because that (furminator full dog spa) service is for a German Sheppard? Then another worker comes over to put a leash on while I'm trying to take off mine and is rushing me thru while I try to ask questions about what is a good length only to then have them look and start prodding my dogs neuter scar and then calls another girl over to look she then use her nail to pick at him! NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS STORE OR GETTING SERVICES FROM THEM AGAIN! When I asked for a manager she couldn't care less and said she stands behind how I was treated and is "sorry" I feel this way but otherwise oh well! I've never had such horrible customer service. I stopped using this poorly run store long ago but a friend picked up pet food for me and went here not knowing their ongoing issues: As usual, expired and almost expired food: IAMS - expired over a month ago. I usually love PetSmart, but this location is a no-no. The store is large, but it feels hard to navigate, and there is limited supply of food. The store is aimed more like a warehouse, so everything is high up on the shelf, or all in the wrong place. It felt almost as if the store was closing down, and they were trying to get rid of everything. The store was not closing, but because of the limited supply, and very little variety, it made a very uncomfortable experience. Sorry PetSmart, this store is not for me! read more

Horrible experience with Ashley in the grooming area. Asked her to cut my dog's hair shorter than the last time he was there. She was obviously offended at that point and ... not until that moment ... did she state that she had a problem with him standing the last time she cut his hair (he is 17 yrs old and stands just fine) and she would not be able to do his haircut since he needs an "express appointment" (1 hour) and he was scheduled for a regular appointment (3 hours). First time being told this AND if he is scheduled for 3 hours and you only need him for 1 hour, do you really send him away after I took 30 minutes to drive there? I waited for almost a month to a grooming appointment with Dana. It was my puppy's first full haircut, but he'd been there many times for bath and trim. As soon as We walked in, she started complaining about a first time haircut, and after 5 mins of leaving him she called and told me to pick him up because he didn't let her bathing him. I decided to make my next appointment at Petco where he had his haircut with no problem, and I received an amazing service at half of the price! Worth driving 10 mins more. read more

I had called in for full service (cut, bath, nails) grooming and when I got there, not only were they snooty about me being 30 minutes early, they said my appointment was only for a bath. Frustrated, I just said I would settle for the nail service. I stepped out into the store because that normally takes a bit of time. One of the groomers paged me literally 2 minutes later to let me know my dog's "pawdicure" was done. I just wanted to get out of there but when I checked my dog's nail, they were basically the same length! I called their customer service department to make a complaint and someone was supposed to get back to me. No one has contacted me yet. This happened in mid-December. Petsmart in the Nassau Park Center grooming dept in the past did a pretty good job with grooming my pet. That's why I figured that I could take a day off of work to get my dog Bella a small Cockapoo to be groomed and do some shopping. I checked their website and they had an opening with their Groomer "Kelly" at 12:30pm in the afternoon. I'm like great this will be perfect.I arrived a little early (12pm) which usually is never a problem. I entered the grooming area and let them know that I had an appointment for 12:30pm. The other groomers called for Kelly to come out. Apparently the system had booked my appointment for a slot that was not available. Seriously? How do you double book an appointment when your supposed to use a computer scheduler. Then In the most condescending voice. I tried calling to tell you twice that the appointment was not available. I'm like ok? I asked if there was another groomer available. No, you can come back at 6pm that's my next available appointment. As if I have nothing better to do or planned on my day off.People have other responsibilities. Regardless I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Thanks for wasting my day Kelly. Petsmart you need to train your people how to use your scheduling software. If your making an appointment with any of their services. Make sure you call and verify your time slot. So you don't have any sudden surprises because it obvious they could care less about you the customer. I love my pet and won't be going back to this store. I don't trust them. read more

I come here to get hay and bedding for my chinchilla once every few weeks. They used to carry a specific brand of pellets I feed my chinchilla, but not anymore. Now I have to order the food from a different vendor online. Once in a while, I peek to see if there's a chinchilla for sale. Usually it's hiding under a plastic igloo, looking sleepy/sad. Avoid buying chinchillas from pet stores, use a trusted breeder! Pet store chinchillas are like puppy mill dogs, only bred for profit! read more

Honestly the worst PetSmart I've ever had my dogs groomed at. Not only was the staff there rude and disrespectful but they gave me one of my dogs wet and her hair barely cut. I didn't have time to look without them telling me I was taking too much space there. they both came out of there shaking which is alarming because they are usually calm when they get handed to me. A red flag when I got there was when I heard a dog screaming in the back of room where they get washed but they told me the dog was fine and always screams like that. Definitely sounded like the pup was highly stressed and I regret putting my trust in them . Terrible experience today at PetSmart grooming in Princeton. I have two Wheatens Bella & Flynn and today they had an appointment with Eileen in the Princeton location. We've been regular customers since moving there. They called saying Bella was finished so he went to get her and wait for Flynn. My husband called me in a panic saying Eileen had shaved her because she had matts. No one called us to say that's what they were going to do and they knew we always got the Wheaten cut. We would have picked her up and gone elsewhere. Bella is 16 years old. When he brought them home Flynn was short but it was ok except for all the nicks and cuts on his body but Bella was traumatized, shaking and cold. I trusted that groomer and she did this to my sweet girl. My husband paid the bill because he was to upset to discuss this and I sure wish I had been there because there would have been accountability for this kind of service. DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS HERE AND EXPECT THEY WILL BE TREATED WELL. I don't have the managers name but I'm trying to get it. This was a disgrace and Eileen should be ashamed. read more

Our groomer Jessinia is the best groomer my dog has ever had. My dachshund is very fearful and doesn't like very many people, but he is completely in love with Jessy. She makes him feel so at ease while delivering the best hair cut and is the only person who can successfully cut his nails. I can feel at ease knowing my little boy is in great hands. Booked appt for 2 dogs thru website. Website assigned both to 1 groomer for a single 2 hour slot. I thought this was wierd so I CALLED to make sure there would be enough time. They said not to worry, the online system just did that. Each dog had its own slot. I ended up having a family emergency that caused me to be 40 minutes late. They refused to take either dog, in part on the basis that walkins might come. This is totally illogical. If each dog takes 1.5-2 hours and I was 40 mins late, I completely understand how they might not be able to do both -- but to not take either?? Had a cat grooming appointment at this particular PetSmart location for the 1st time and was appalled at what was going on. A beautiful long haired copper colored dog was under the blow dryer getting yelled at for flinching while groomer was cutting around the eyes. She yelled at the dog stating this is what you get for not staying still, the straight scissors. Stay still, stay still, this is what you get now. The groomer appeared highly agitated, and it was only 9am. I felt so sorry for this dog and he/she was being so good standing still on the table. The groomer yelled over to me, you're here with the cat and I nodded and smiled. The vibe in the grooming salon was that of high stress and having a miserable beginning of the day. I had been thinking I can't leave my cat here with this groomer and luckily, was told her rabies vaccine was three weeks overdue even though we have been using another Pet Smart elsewhere for the past year and I said ok and left without voicing any opinion on the bad scene. Don't go to this location - it was weird and you would be signing your pet up for a bad experience. read more

Amazing customer service-- even during this troubling time, when a problem arose where the white long haired Syrian hamster we bought gave my mother terrible breathing issues because of our central air system, they gave an exception and accepted everything back as they called it a special exception. The cashier and the manager both refused my online return claiming I needed to request a "receipt" from online Customer Service in order for them to process (there was no packing slip in the box I received). After 2 emails and 5 half hour phone conversations over the course of a week with no resolution in sight, I see now that the website clearly states that stores can accept online returns with the emailed order confirmation, WHICH I HAD PRESENTED. I guess they didn't want the return to go against their bottom line? This store has a good selection of freshwater fish. There do not sell any saltwater fish at this store. There is a limited selection of freshwater plants. The only invertebrates I saw were ghost shrimp. The fish staff is very helpful, though very slow during busy times. There is a 14 day warranty on the fish. The fish delivery is on Thursday, so Fridays seem to have the best selection of fish. read more

I stopped by at the fish section and wish to buy one Koi fish. The girl in the store said that she wouldn't sell it to me unless I had a 75-gallon tank. I have a 45-gallon tank which is big enough for one little fish for at least a couple years before it moves on to a bigger one. She said that even the tinny Koi fish need a large tank to live. it is so ridiculous that at least 5 Koi fish on sale are living in a tiny tank (about 5 gallons) in the store and she still insisted on that. It seemed she really cared about the fish, but actually, there were about a dozen dead fish in the tank in the same area that she was in charge of. read more

Every time I go into the store there is another annoyance. Last year I spotted them selling expired dog food. When I made the manager aware, he promised to replace it. Two weeks later I spotted the same problem. I tried to get a dog hair groomer. Their sale price was still twice the price of amazon. Today, they advertised that they reduced the price of many items storewide. My dog treats price was RAISED 40% as were many other items. Petsmart grooming salon used to be decent. But it has gone totally downhill in the past couple of years. The groomers are rude and do a lousy job. They are also mean to the dogs. I always overheard them yelling at them. Today, when a dog whined while the groomer was cutting his fur, this groomer said "stop that, did you die yet?"! When I went pick up my dog after almost 2 hours, I saw my dog on leash tied in the back of the front room whimpering while his groomer was checking in another dog. After she is done checking in that dog, to my surprise, instead of going back to my dog to finish up whatever she needs to do, she started grooming this other dog! So I asked her if my dog is ready to be picked up yet? She said "not yet, I still have to shave his paws, but I have to work on this walk in first." I asked "so you're going to work on this walk in and let my dog wait?" she said "This is our policy." Whatever she said doesn't make sense and is unbelievable, so I told her forget about his paws I can do that myself and I made her give me the paper to make my payment so I can take my dog out of there. My dog looked terrified and shaky when I picked him up. It's such a shame cos my dog has been going there since he was a puppy with his usual groomer. But since she left Petsmart a few months ago, we realize all these groomers he has now are terrible. We will never go back! read more
