This is a review of dog training classes, beginner and intermediate, at PetSmart Pinole. We've taken our pooch for both beginner and intermediate training at PetSmart Pinole. On both occasions we've had exceptional trainers. Both Michelle (beginner, but no longer at this location) and Patrick (intermediate, still at PetSmart as of this review) were clear, patient, and knowledgeable. Our dog responded well to the trainers' commands which gave us hope that eventually she'd respond to ours. This review is based off the grooming services. I have an 8 month old puppy who has never been groomed beyond the point of a bath. His hair was so long to the point where he'd get thorns stuck in his fur when I would take him outside to use the bathroom. His fur then began to clump up under his arms and legs. I decided to give this place a try given the fact that they had decent reviews on here, after all, I didn't care if I left the place with a bald dog, as long as he didn't have any knotted fur. I booked an appointment online and it was very easy to do. I chose my time and with who I wanted to do the service. (Stephanie who is AMAZING!) I checked in and explained to her the situation regarding my dog & what I wanted out of the service. She explained to me that because it was his first grooming service he might resist but she promised she'd do the best she could. She payed very close attention to detail and gave me the results she promised (plus a nail trim!!!!) My dog looks like a whole new puppy!! Was really disappointed with the customer service here, but I wasn't expecting much to begin with. I called for walk in availability to get a sanitary shave and nail trim for my car and I was told to come right in. But when I got there I was rudely told by one of the groomers that I had to come back tomorrow because they stop talking walk ins at 3:30 I got there at 3:32. I just think it was bad customer service on both the worker that answered the phone and the groomer that I i met with in person. Why wouldn't they tell me when they stopped taking walk ins when they invited me in? And I don't see why the groomer wouldn't take us 2 minutes after especially because we were told to come in. Thank u for wasting our time! It's ok though because I bet they would probably have cut my cat anyways with how unprofessional they are. I strongly urge everyone who loves their pets to go local. The groomers here are so incredibly rude! They don't acknowledge you when you walk in for a good 10 minutes no greeting no "we'll be right with you" nothing. The only thing one of the girls finally said was " do you have an appointment" and I said " yes I do" , her response.. "for today?" Uhmm why else would I be here? Then after 20 minutes the another groomer comes out and he starts the paperwork to get my puppy in. My puppy is still only 11 months and has that puppy energy but is super friendly and loves everyone. The groomer kept glaring at him and then asked if I have if him in training and if not I should. All because my puppy was excited, especially seeing other doggos. He wasn't barking, being aggressive, none of that. I've never been to groomers, pet clinic or any establishment pet related that doesn't have the most animal loving kind employees ever. read more

I've shopped at this particular PetSmart off and on over the last few years since it first opened up. I usually really like Petsmart over Petco but I feel like this place is one of the worst Petsmart chains I've been to. The customer service is not always great and when you need help sometimes it takes forever for someone to come. The fish area is almost always desserted and you have to hunt someone down to help you. They have a decent assortment of fish, I guess, but nearly all of my last few visits there has seen one or more belly-up floating fish so I don't know how well or how often they clean the tanks. The last visit just yesterday was no exception! The bottom tanks for goldfish was like a graveyard... a large pile in the bottom were all dead fish and some of the goldfish were feeding on the bodies!!!! It was a horrifying sight!! It took at least 20 minutes for customer service to show up in the fish area and when someone finally came (with a dog in tow) they weren't too friendly and I felt like they were extremely reluctant about having to get a fish out for me. Oh well. I got a fish (the second one I've bought here) but I don't think I'll be back for another one. read more

If I could give zero starts I would. I went into the store yesterday and not were they only out of the dog food I wanted, but the staff seemed to not want to help me and I can take one good guess why. Today I call to check and see if they have the food and I was placed on hold and after a min the phone pick up and hung up. When I called back ironically no one answred and it kept giving a new auto message saying to call back later. I'm definitely writing a letter to corporate and maybe they can pull the cameras to see what employee they pay to help customers hung up and forwarded the calls. Great Job. read more

Update: fish is dead , if you YouTube petsmart fish you will know their tanks are all connected , that means if they had one sick fish all other fish are likely to get infected by that one sick fish , so they are not just killing fish but they are cheating clients money , making you pay for a sick fish. What is that refund policy ? Go back there and exchange for another sick fish ? Knowing that there were some dead feeder fish in the tank is it possible they were sick and died and now all other fish get infected ? And petsmart still sell those sick fish to customers ? Buyer beware ! I hope they get sued for what they've done. I normally buy fish from other aquarium shops because they have a variety of selections available to choose from , but yesterday I decided to go to petsmart to see if they have any exotics , they had some nice color sorted oscars so I bought two , one is healthy and lively but the other one has been acting strange as soon as I add it to the tank, I have been a fish owner for 2 years now and I know right away that something is wrong with this fish, it's only been two days now and this one is seriously ill , I have a 75 gallon well maintained tank and a 24 hours filtration system and I have fish that's been living in the tank for 2 years now, when I added new fish to the tank this type of things never happened . I'm keeping this fish in my observation tank for now hoping it will survive , but please petsmart stop selling fish , i went there yesterday and saw like 10 + fish all squeezed in a 10 gallon tank how is that a healthy living environment for the fish ? I saw a lot of dead feeder fish probably all had some sort of diseases but petsmart didn't bother to take them out right away , petsmart only carries baby fish now but these babies are so fragile they are not ready to move to a new tank so what exactly are you doing ? I paid $12 for this fish but I don't even bother to take it back and exchange for a new fish because it's not about the money , my tank has some exotics that's like $50 per fish and $12 is pretty cheap for an Oscar , but please petsmart I'll admit you are an expert at keeping puppies and kittens healthy but you are not an expert at keeping fish so Just stop what you doing and I can't imagine if you sell these fish to new fish owners and they die in a few days how will those owners feel? read more

Today I had an appointment for grooming for my two dogs 1 is a yorkie and the other one is a Pomeranian. I went in no one greeted me, they all looked at me I was the one saying hi I have 2 appointments for Laela and Stella . Right away Hailie said, "you are late" I told her I was outside in the parking lot and some nice lady was saying hi to my dogs. She said will you need to call if you are late which it was only a few minutes late. I apologized said sorry I will next time. She said there was a fee because I was late I said ok I will pay it no problem. The other problem was she had an issue that the vaccine papers didn't had an exact date when was her next vaccines it only said in 3 years. Which I told her the veterinarian just give me those papers and I'm assuming all veterinarian work differently. The next thing was she asked me what kind of haircut I wanted for my yorkie I told her a puppy cut. Hailie the groomer said I don't know what cut that is. Shouldn't all groomers know what haircut that is? So I showed her a picture. Haile said it won't look like that I said it's fine I just want something similar I'm not asking to be exactly the same. Than she asked me what kind of cut I wanted for my Pomeranian I said I want a teddy bear cut I showed her a picture of the cut she said it won't be the same because my Pomeranian wasn't a pure breed!!!! I said she is a purebred Pomeranian and her hair looks flat is because she was wearing a sweater and I didn't brush her hair. Like really? Like who cares if my dog is a full breed or not I'm. After all this bad customer service I didn't even feel comfortable leaving my 2 daughters there. It seems hailie is miserable and doesn't like her job. I don't understand why is she even working there after looking at all this reviews it seems I'm not the only one that have complaint about her. So I went to talk to the manager and I told her everything that happened Amanda (store manager) was very nice and made me feel comfortable by telling me hailie wasn't going to cut any of my daughters hair it will be someone else and she apologized for her employee that was very unprofessional. So I left them their went home than I received a call from Amanda saying that one of my daughters (the Pomeranian) got overly excited and jump off the table mean while they were blowing drying her hair. I don't understand how that can happened I would think she would be tied up securely meanwhile she is getting her blow dried. But the issue was that they didn't call me when the incident happened but they called me when It was time to me to pick them up. Wow, really don't they realize people that take there dogs are not just dogs but it's their babies why would they wait to call me until pick up time???? DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR BABIES HERE. I first visited this store a little over a month ago to buy food for my Leopard Geckos. The guy handed me mealworms and all of them were dead. I was there I want first week of May and he had handed me a batch labeled 4/20. He switched them out for a batch that really wasn't any better (still some dead ones) but whatever, took em. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY 6/7/2023 - I purchased a 50 ct of meal worms and a 35 ct of super worms. All of my mealworms were dead and guess what? THEY WERE STILL DATED 4/20... not to mention my batch of super worms were shorted by 10. Unfortunately I ordered off of DoorDash or I would have never left the store with the 4/20 batch. Plus the worms literally smelled like fish. The way this place keeps their geckos anyway is not up to par. Avoid this place at all costs cause you'll be disappointed with whatever pet you want to make a purchase for honestly. read more

I paid $12 extra for teeth brushing only for the guy to pretend to brush her teeth for about 30 seconds. Mind you, this is after I arrived to pick my dog up once receiving the call that she was ready. If I hadn't told them that I'd been charged for teeth cleaning, they wouldn't have done it at all. If you come a lot I recommend getting the rewards program, that got some deals and earn pts like any other rewards program. The staff are pretty friendly and helpful. This review is for the grooming section only. If I could leave a (-5) stars I would. Don't take your dog here if you expect a quality grooming experience for your pet. We took our dog, Roxie. a full breed Maltese, to be groomed here this past Friday. We asked for a trim, not too much. The staff person asked what blade should she use. We told her we didn't know, but again we asked for a trim but not too short. When Roxie was returned to us, imagine our surprise when we found out that the staff person shaved her all over. It looked like she'd been peeled rather than trimmed. When we voiced our frustration concerning the poor job they did, we were told that WE asked for the wrong service. What?!?!?! Now not one person in our family has been to dog grooming school nor or are any of us barbers. How were we to know what blade to tell the staff person to use? Roxie was traumatized. We did what we could to console her -- she was not only cold, her temperament had changed -- from happy go lucky to mopey and downtrodden. I was so mad I was seeing red. On top of the poor job they did, they made us pay half of the cost for the service when they should have been offering to pay us for the terrible infraction they committed. Unbelievable. Don't use this place for grooming services if you do you'll be sorry and so will your pet. read more

I went to do a return on an item I paid cash for. When I initially purchased the item, the one i got was too small. I went back and exchanged that item for the larger size with my receipt. No problem, but the cashier did not enter my "member #" into the system for the exchange so it was not in their system. The larger size didn't fit either so I went to return it, however, I could not find my receipt. So I get to the store, they found the original transaction but not the exchange. I specifically asked the manager if the employee who did the exchange should have asked for my phone in order to have the exchange and she said yes. SO, the manager admittedly said the employee made the mistake. She said I could only get store credit instead of my cash refund. This makes no sense at all. I cannot believe the lack of common sense these younger people have and their lack of customer service. The future is not looking too bright! read more

Don't take your dog to get groomed here; I don't know what they did to my poor yorkie that had him scared and frightened for days.....he wasn't the same after his grooming at pets smart. I called the store and complained about the guy who groomed my puppy asking what the hell happened to my dog and that I wanted to see the video of what went on they said i needed to subpoena to see it.....I'm not sure what went on in there however I well NEVER take my dog there....he also kept licking his paw and I notice one of his nails was cracked I half and nearly coming off on top of everything! I do like this petsmart , for toys , collars and treats especially after the holidays stuff is half off . I'm not a fan of their grooming services. But I do believe this is a nice petsmart and the workers try to help you as much as they can. Today I was able to book a apt to get pics with Santa and my dog . They were very nice , polite and patient. I would recommend the holidays pictures to anybody ! My dog is 4 and I feel like I have missed Out the first 3 years since I didn't get any pictures with Santa I'm glad I participated this year ! 10/10 read more

I don't know about the rest of the store but the grooming salon gets 5 stars! There are few groomers who can handle my Chow Chow. Angelica is one of them. She always does a great job with my fur face!! The rest of the groomers seem fantastic as well. They take their profession seriously. I hear them sharing advice and helping each other out when needed. Great team of people and outstanding quality service! The only complaint I have is the price. I pay $100 to get my dog groomed and I think that's too much. They should offer discounts of some sort. read more

I haven't had a bad experience at this Petsmart at all, so it gets a solid 5 stars. Every time I run out of goldfish pellets or need a fish feeder for when we go on a trip somewhere, I stop by this Petsmart, go to the goldfish section, buy what I need to buy, pay at the cash register, and that's that. Sometimes I spend an extra 5 minutes or so looking at the fish and the birds and other animals because they're pretty amazing. read more

Every time I bring him in, he comes home looking beautiful. Which is no easy task, I am sure (UM, did I mention he's GIANT?). But the real reason I keep coming back? This review is for the grooming department. Normally, I take my small Pomeranian there to get his nails clipped and trimmed. However, one day, I decided to spoil the little monster and treated him to a "Paw-dicure". They trim his nails, trim the hair around his paws, give an ear cleaning, spray some smell good on him and possibly a teeth cleaning - although I'm unsure on that. This review is specifically geared towards their ear cleaning. Bottom line, don't have them do it. 4 days later he's got an ear infection and we're $200+ into the vet for the 3 different medications as well as the ear flushing. If you're going to take your pet there for a grooming service play it close to the chest and stick with the hair and nail trimming. The perfume really doesn't smell pleasant and the fact he left with an ear infection leads me to believe the staff is either undertrained, careless, and/or not sterilizing equipment after use. EDIT: Done with the vet. Our dog had A LOT of yeast behind his ear drum and during the cleaning they ruptured his ear drum. CONFIRMED: These groomers here DO NOT sterilize any equipment and just simply move from animal to animal Total vet bill: $419.05 DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE FOR A GROOMING. read more

The place was not busy. I am on my way to San Francisco and decided to stop by to get a muzzle for my dog. The guy helped me find the item and headed to the cashier right away. The cashier was nice and pleasant but there was another lady standing beside the cashier. While i was paying I did a cash back. Then she snapped at me and said "You cannot do that!!!". And i asked do what? She said we don't always have change so you cannot do a cash back. Well there was no sign anywhere or anything that says ask the cashier first for a cash back. I did not think that the $40 cash will break them. You can tell me politely but that grumpy lady should not work with customers. It ruined my day. I go to the PetSmart in Daly City on Gellert. I have to say the only reason I go back to this place is because this is where I adopted my first kitten. I have to say they had some helpful brochures/coupons that came along with the adoption papers. Although, it was misleading in terms of price as I was told that adoptions cost $150. I had to pay $100 more because the kitten I wanted is a rare breed. I only really go here regularly to stock up on my kitten's food (he prefers wet over dry). One of the cashier workers here, I'm not that big of a fan of - she comes off somewhat rude and unwelcoming. read more

Terrible! Plain Terrible! I DO NOT RECOMMEND any pet owner to take their animals to any of these groomers, especially Hailie. I take my 9 month old Yorkie in for a wash & cut, teeth brushing, nail clipping at 2pm Friday. As soon as we walk in there are 3 groomers around the counter area not one bothered to greet me. Finally after 5 mins or so someone at least said hello, Hailie assisting another customer barked at her, NO that's mine. Well hello there! As I signed in & requested the cut I'd prefer she estimates 2 to 3 hour wait. I'm thinking wow that's long but ok. I arrive at the 3 hour mark, not only is my puppy not on the table getting groomed she barks saying another hour! I'm like ok... at the 4 hour mark on a Friday Hailie tells me he was very difficult & he's still not finished. Come on! I just said GIVE ME MY DOG! She storms out forcing another groomer to assist me. As I head to the counter the poor "assistant groomer" says "you're all set!" I'm like I didn't pay she's like idk what's going on but you're good! WOW after terrible service I guess a free 4 hour service is the least they can do. These rude people do not deserve a star! I've never had a problem w/ my dogs getting groomed here until now. I took my Maltese here yesterday & got him back w/ an uneven shave and patches all over and some parts shaved down so much you can see his skin. I didn't complain at the time since I'm just not the type to embarrass anyone in front of their peers, but I was in total shock. My poor dog. I took my Pomeranian to be groomed at Petsmart and was given information that other pet groomers had never told me which is that it's dangerous to shave or a cut a Pomeranians hairs really short because their hair will stop growing back. My dog was already experiencing this in a couple of places because he had gotten short haircuts previously. It was the woman at Petsmart who told me about this and told me why he was having bald patches on his coat and that if she did what I was asking her to do, my dog's fur would get worse. I'm so grateful that she knew that because my vet and the groomer didn't know what was going on with my dog. We checked thyroid but it was fine. So the woman at Petsmart did a beautiful job grooming my dog in a way that was healthy for his coat. He smelled wonderful and looked great! read more

Poor customer service: there were children standing in front of me looking at cats one bagged the window and the store clerk showing off the cats glares at me and scolds me through their mask. Not knowing those kids weren't mine. The white customers began to mean mug me. I should of knocked on the door and embarrassed both of them and told them those aren't my kids and it's not my responsibility to keep them in check. Groomer cancels on Thursday.Rescheduled for Friday. Salon is overbooked of course. After 4 hours my dog came home with knots uncut or combed out. I kept saying he is still damp when I picked him up - he is not dry . Christine said she sprayed him with cologne. She lied. No cologne smell at all - just wet hair smell. One of the poorest grooming ever done on my dog. Christine was the salon supervisor .She obviously has no pride in her work. I am still wailting for the manager of the store to call me .I have 4 dogs -can you imagine how much revenue they have lost from my business. read more
