I've been grooming my dog here for the past 2 years and they always do a great job. The groomers are all friendly. I feel like Petsmart gets a bad rap sometimes because they are not a private groomer but they always do a fantastic job and the prices are reasonable. As much as we love our pets we can't all afford to go to high end fancy groomers. This last time we waited to get our dog groomed a little to long and some of his hair was matted, they cleaned him up so well and Charlie looked like a million bucks when they were all done! I love that they give you a little report of how your dog did, what products they used, and how his coat and skin is. They have convenient online appointments to make life easier. Weekends are typically very busy and have to be booked a little in advance. I am always happy with how my dog comes out after his grooming. read more

The facilities are clean, well organized, and well lit. The reason I gave 4 stars is because they do not carry everything like on the website and also I feel they did not hire enough people as there were some visitors but not all could be helped as there was not enough staff to help out the customers. During my visit today the woman checking me out was VERY rude toward me. I already came in confused to buy food for a friends new dog & instead of politely informing me that we needed a prescription, she rudely questioned me asking me who I'm getting the food for and why. Horrible customer service. My dog just turned 1, i took him here for his first bath... he came back wet. I figured oh its his first time, maybe they had trouble with him. So i booked his second grooming session with them, he came back looking like half naked mole rat/ half squirrel. I blamed it on myself, and said its my fault cause i wasnt able to describe the cut i wanted correctly. So i booked his third appt, this time on the app. Whats the point of the app? My dog has never been to any other groomers, yet this place now has no record of him, i brought it all his immunizations THE FIRST TIME but no... they have no record of him. They have used my number to call me to pick him up when his grooming is done-- but now they have no number for me. This place is unorganized! The lady on the phone named ASHLEY was very condescending and rude.I do have an appt today but i refuse to go after the way i was treated on the phone. Oh scratch that, i just got a call from them saying " the hot water isnt working so they have to cancel my appointment" ha. ashley probably got a little scared and had someone cancel me. So sad what I will write because I am so happy with my groomer Danielle, Banfield and all other services . Today , the day of the storm ( only another dog was in there , low business day!)I took two dogs x grooming, usually I bring my shampoo ,since I like the ones with baking soda and my dog is very allergic to certain things. I forgot my shampoo today and was told I needed to pay extra 21 dollars for each dog to use their natural miracle shampoo ( full bottle price is around $11), decided to buy one..the manager with a very bad attitude while on her cell phone tell I cannot use any natural miracle because that's what they use , I came with another brand and now she wanted me still to pay 7 dollars extra for each dog because " will be done manually " problem to this , yes! I think is bad enough to pay extra to use your own supply but... the very worse is the way how that lady Adrianne "manager"treat Pet Smart customers, she should lear she represents the business !,I never understood why that grooming salon constantly gets bad reviews. When I say that i do not like the way she is treating me "customer" and will not bring my dogs to the store, instead of saying something like "sorry is the policy" she said " we do not need customers like you" Pet Smart general manager, please, people like Adriane need to be trained to treat customers with respect , no matter what your policy is! Not to say, even your other groomers where embarrassed with their manager and far represent the interest of the business!! A T T E N T I O N (from someone who's brought their dog numerous of times!) For those interested in the grooming services; this place is pretty good. Now I've seen people complain about certain things it is because they are ignorant. When a dog has knots that are too close to the skin the only options for the groomers is to SHAVE THEM OFF..Or else they'd have to aggressively pull & tug to the point of RIPPING SKIN. So obviously its best to shave them. Dont want them shaved? Do you job as a responsible owner and not only brush but COMB your dog's hair. This place is a 'HIGH VOLUME" store. This also pertains to the salon. This not only means they have a lot of foot traffic but a lot of dog traffic. Yes it is a highly stressful place. A lot of movement, barking, and not to mention that large window that you can see through (may sound like a good idea but can be potentially dangerous as dogs often want to see through the window and/or children tend to knock on the glass causing the dog to jerk their heads while the groomer is grooming them!). For those who think the groomer's are to rough with the dogs. It may be just your perception. A lot of times the dogs do act up (as grooming is not something that is natural & a lot of dogs hate). In order to groom them the groomers needs to be stern or else nothing would get done. Grooming is not a day care where the dogs are there to 'have fun' (some dogs enjoy it, just not as many as you'd think) & to socialize. No one ever credits the groomer for their hard work they always see the dog as the 'victim'. Now for the 'customer service' bit. I totally understand that customer service is very important (I myself am a huge supporter of it). However the way that petsmart grooming is arranged, is not really /for/ customer service. It must be the greed of Corporate (not the associates!) for they do not want to pay for a receptionist. I will explain; A private salon usually has a sitting area & a reception desk. You are generally greeted in a pretty/calm enviornement a lot of times by someone who is paid to act as a receptionist (speak to customer/ check you in/ check you out/ect..) In petsmart, the groomers (who are tied doing dogs while you walk in) have to physically stop what they are doing and talk the to customer/check in/check out/answer phones. Its grueling & annoying; i can totally understand. They obviously want to make this process as quick as possible since they are basically 'timed' to groom & get their dogs done. Please do not blame the associates, they do not get paid for stopping constantly. This place above all petsmarts (& I been to a few) is probably the best for grooming. They have extremely experienced groomers ranging from 3-12 years! The salon manager herself has been there for about 12 years. Great staff, great work! read more

I usually use petsmart grooming bc i have banfield for both of my dogs. A quick phone # search and ALL of their info comes up... apparently that was too complicated for the person over the phone today (around 130pm). She rudley stated over the phone i HAD to find my dogs papers or he couldnt get groomed, when i tried to explain AGAIN all info was cp, she continued her RUDE tone with me over the phone until she put it down (on the counter) bc i could hear her over the phone yelling and asking wth i was talking about... completely unprofessional and i will NOT be taking my money there, too bad considering i spent for a FULL spa day for my dog at Wayne Petsmart, and she got it right on the first call within 5 mins. read more

I adopted my dog from this location. Friendly and helpful staff especially for first time pet owners.

They always have everything we need in stock and there's usually a decent amount of people here with their dogs so your dog will have plenty of playmates! All the staff members are very friendly and attentive. There's almost always a dog trainer or two here who will answer your questions. On the weekends and during special occasions they will usually have something going on (pet adoptions, pet pictures with Santa, etc). Great place! read more

My husband and I went in to rent a carpet shampooer. We often rent from this store and have never had an issue. Yesterday, "Store Manager" Ashley helped us. She was very rude and condescending. She treated us like we were bothering her by asking to rent the machine. She asked for my ID which I gave her, but she rudely grabbed it out of my hand and then threw it on the belt of the cash register. In a condescending tone, she told us there was a 30$ deposit (which isn't an issue since we've rented them multiple times and know how it works) she then went on in a condescending tone "you will get your 30$ back once you return the machine clean and working". We knew all of these things already, but it is the tone of voice she used to say it. She was unfriendly and rude. We will, as we always do, return the machine clean and in working condition. We will no longer shop at petsmart because of this experience. There is a Petco just down the road, and we will start shopping there. Speaking to customers in the tone she did is unacceptable and unnecessary. I received an email from petsmart yesterday saying they are giving me a 5$ off 25$ purchase coupon for my "troubles". But only if I use the coupon will the send my complaint to the store. No thanks. read more

Every time I come in here they only have one cashier open and I have to wait so long on line. However that's not the reason I am leaving this review. I was approached by an employee I think she may be working in the pet care department. She sees me looking at the betta fish. She comments beautiful aren't they I say yes. I continue to tell her how I enjoy them so much I have a sorority tank. She starts by telling me I shouldn't have these fish together. Well if you do your research you can have females together in a group more than five under the right conditions. Which I do because I do my research. My currently five are in a 50gal heavily planted with a lot of caves. I start to explain to her my tank and she immediately cuts me off and goes "do what ever you want but that's my recommendation." What? First I didn't ask you for one and two she did not need to be so rude with me. I didn't get her name. I really went in there to buy fish food. Didn't buy the food. I will be going to my local fish store where they treat me so much better! I rather pay more for fish food than deal with rude employees. They carry everything you need for your pet and the girls in the grooming salon are wonderful! My dog never comes home stressed or scared her haircut is always beautiful I always use Nicole F. For my grooming needs but the rest of the crew are just amazing! I have a pets mart and a petco near me and I still choose to drive the 15 minutes to the one in Paramus because of the wonderful staff ! Very courteous and professional staff and if they don't have what you are looking for they will do what ever they can to help you get it ! Highly recommended especially for grooming ! read more

I have taken my ShiTzu Mimi to be groomed since she was 1 year old, now she is almost 5. I rated the groomer Stephanie poorly because she did not have the customer skills to make me feel comfortable that she would be gentle with my dog. She saw Mimi didn't say a word other than "she is going to be shaved pink naked, she is all matted." I asked her if she could try not to have her shaved to the skin and she said that she couldn't. She could have said that she would try, but her reply was so curt and her explanation so matter a fact that the impression left was she was going to shave my dog all the way to the skin. Mimi did have some matting in a few parts of her coat but not to the point of having to shave her entire body. Although I agreed to have Mimi groomed I left with a discomfort rather than assurance for my dog would be taken care of only to return 3 minutes later and got Mimi back. My previous experiences with other groomers were all fine, but a client wants to be reassured that their pet will be taken care of. Stephanie should consider another profession that does not require dealing with customers or dogs! read more

Petsmart has good prices and a great selection. The cat litter could be more reasonably priced though. The food is priced well...far less than the supermarket. It's located in a very busy area of Paramus, so it's a little bit of a nuisance to drive to. It's very nice that they do pet adoptions there. In general, it's my pet store of choice. read more

If you care for your dogs safety DO NOT GO HERE!!!! After picking up my dog from being groomed I placed my dog on my lap and in seconds I noticed blood all over me. She was bleeding profusely from her paw! I immediately go back and all they had to say was a, "sorry we didn't noticed she was cut. " They rinsed her paw and gave her back. I find it hard to believe that my pup wouldn't have cried and/or there was no blood in the crate she was waiting in. How long was she with that cut for untreated? Why wasn't I immediately notified? Why did they not bring her right next door to a vet to be seen? I'm extremely disgusted in the manner this issue was taken care of and will never come back. read more

Worst place ever. Avoid at all costs. Our dog was shaved too closely on her stomach and has a burn/rash from the clippers. Anal glands expelled but her butt is raw. Place is filthy! Most likely the clipper were unsanitary. If you love your pets you would avoid this place!!!!!!! read more

Placed an online order which was supposed to be ready in an hour for pickup. After waiting almost 3 hours with no e-mail stating the item was ready for pick up I went to the store to ask about my order. Cashier called for somebody named Ronnie (female) who I assumed to be the manager on duty. She asks for my order number and says it's being pulled.... sounds good. She arrives with the product and places it on the cashier's belt and tells him to bag it even though the cashier was helping someone else and the bags were directly next to her. I guess she wanted to establish that she was in charge. Then she proceeds to reprimand me for going to the store without a second confirmation e-mail that the items were ready for pickup. If I place an order that says will be ready in an hour, and I arrive to pick it up three hours later and it's still not ready... an apology would have been nice. I use this store for their great selection of dog products and customer service. We are the neurotic owners of a 16 year old lab/retriever mix. The staff has been very helpful with different dog food suggestions to keep her appetite stimulated, as well as different supplement suggestions to help with other issues. The store is clean and well stocked. The store hours are convenient and the prices are very good. The manager in the grooming area, I believe her name is Andrea, is very rude and provides terrible customer service. I brought my Beagle in for a pawdicure plus and asked them to please make sure they trim her dewclaws and shave the pads of her feet. I was told that it's a $7 up charge for pad shaving. I said no, I thought it was part of the service because I've never been asked to pay an up charge at their salon before. I decided not to get it. I looked online at the salon menu description and came back and showed them that light pad shaving is included. The manager was annoyed and said this must be new and she is short staffed and can't do it now. I was upset and said if you're busy and can't do the whole service as advertised, you should have told me and I would have come later. She begrudgingly shaved my dogs pads. I paid $26 for the service and I spoke to the store manager who assured me that she'd speak to the grooming manager. I picked up my dog and she was missing the bandana included in the service. This salon doesn't know their services, is rude, and unprofessional. Imagine how they must treat our dogs! read more

I love the store because I love animals, but I would not recommend for grooming. Sometimes I feel like they try to do as many dogs as they can and that everything is rushed. Some of the groomers do not even have much experience let alone school. I stick with the smaller grooming shops. Took my Dog for grooming, while I was waiting I watched a girl who was working on a Wheaten Terrier. She was so rough pulling on his leg ,he let out a squeal and she said "stop it!!!!" and pulled him by his arm so rough I was horrified. I didn't know what to do so I stayed and watched through the window and she continued to be mean to him. There was a worker behind the register and another worker standing next to her talking. I turned around and made a comment to them both about how I didn't like how the girl was treating that poor dog. They proceeded to roll there eyes at each other as if to say "oh brother who cares". I caught them doing that . I let them know I saw them rolling their eyes of course they denied it. Turns out one of them was a Manager!!! Her Name is Kimberley. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior. I was so upset that now I was leaving my dog there to be groomed and worried that she would mistreat my dog. I got my dog and I will never ever recommend the grooming or that store if this is the type of people they hire. Absolutely rude!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG FOR A GROOMING THERE!!! Unprofessional staff that doesn't know how to take care of a dog. Dropped my puppy there for a groom and after not getting a call back for over 3 hours I decided to call to make sure everything is ok. After being put on hold by 3 different people and waiting about 5 minutes I finally received news that my dog had been cut during the grooming and the vet is glueing it's skin back together!!!! Are you kidding me???? They didn't even bother calling me and inform me that there has been an accident! Prior to leaving I insisted on seeing the vet that performed the procedure to make sure that my dog will be fine. If you love your dog and care about it so not take it there for grooming as this place is unsafe and unprofessional! My dog is home now and is traumatized. i usually like petsmart. i trained my dog using a prong collar i have got complimented on how well she is traind and people in the store ask for help training their dogs so i tell them about it and the said training manager says he will.kick us out for using our collar the way we use the collar when i told them i would take it off but if she got loose hed have to catch her. he said he couldnt and walked away and let me continue doing what i was doing. their training staff does not know how to train tougher dogs at all! read more
