I have a 12 year old maltipoo That I have been bringing to this Petsmart for sometime now I have never had a problem until now I brought my dog Lola to get groomed as I normally do I brought her home end it wasn't till three days later but I noticed her ear was turning black I am mediately pulled off the bow that the groomer had put on her and noticed that there was loss of blood circulation to her ear I immediately called the groomers at Petsmart and was told that Amanda the groomer that had helped Lola was not in and she would call me the next day no one seem to care about the fact that Lola was in pain I waited the next morning and saw that Lola's ear was not only black but it was getting hard I found a vet that was able to squeeze her in last minute I am mediately called Petsmart back and spoke to the manager Lonnie who told me that if the vet had called confirm that it was the groomers fault as to why Lola's ear was black that they would pay in full for medical bills Lola's appointment was the next Day the vet told me that they would need to amputate Lola's ear I gave them Petsmart's information and Lonnie the managers name they got in contact and worked it out that way I get a phone call today from the vet notifying me that Petsmart needs to go through reviews of the pictures of Lola's ear and cannot pay for her medical bills until they do so I called again and spoke to Crystal the manager and told her that I was very upset that I had yet to receive a phone call from anyone at Petsmart that it should not be up to me to be calling them over a mistake that they made and it should not be up to me to be waiting and let Lola get worse before they can pay after I was told that they would pay it is a $2000 payment for Lola surgery that I should not be held accountable for I am very upset with the way Petsmart has handled This situation is extremely unprofessional they neglected my dog and abused her after all the years that I have brought her to Petsmart I am sad to say that I will no longer take her or recommend anyone take their dog there the pain my dog and I have to go through over something so stupid as a bow in her ear because of the carelessness that Amanda did my dog will have to live missing an ear for the rest of her life and I have the burden of having to pay a medical bill over some thing I had no control over I put my dogs in the hands of someone of a company but I thought I could trust and all they did was prove me wrong I am looking to go through with legal action so that this never happens to Lola or another dog again read more

Brought my dog, Louie, in for a trim, etc. He had been "butchered" by other groomers, so I was hesitant about this time too. Rachel had Louie looking like a star. He even pranced on his way out the door when I picked him up. I scheduled him again and once again Rachel did a stellar job. I am a MEGA fan because the manager completely stepped up and helped us get vet treatment after an honest grooming accident. Our Jack Russell, Mr. Gill Grissom, had a fatty mole on his chin that somehow got cut - he may have even done it to himself! But these moles tend to bleed a lot, so we went to their referred vet, had it taken care of right away. We were so grateful! All the manager said was "I want to be sure your dog is alright. That is my number one concern" No charge for any of it. He is great - thank you for your care and we will be back. :) read more

You know how 500 different sales associates ask you if you need help 500 times each per visit here? Well, I finally took one up on the offer, "Are these your only organic treats here?" The response I got? "I'm not gonna lie; that stuff just doesn't interest me." YES, he said that! Well, let me not put you out then! I gave a half-hearted, "okay, thanks" when it was clear that that was going to complete his assistance, and he said, "Good luck!" and walked away. Ha! Pitiful. I got my Doberman puppy, what they call a Puppy bath. They ask you to leave your pet there for about 3 hours...so we dropped him off about 5pm.. He was ready in less than half that time. Since he was less than 5 months, they charged me 10.00 for a bath, nail clip, and ear cleaning for my 40 pound monster! What a steal! And to think PetCo wanted about 70.00 for the same thing! I love the girl that took care of my puppy, you could tell she loved her job and loved every animal what walked in through that door! We will definitely be back! read more

So, I'm buying a $209.00 dog igloo shelter... and I know there's a way to get the standard discount (you pay for it over the internet for a 5% standard discount) but I can't remember what the trick is while I'm inside the store. I ask a clerk "Isn't there a way to get a standard discount on this thing?" and she sheepishly says "No, I guess you have to pay full price". Well, this woman knows for sure how I could have received the 5% discount which escaped my mind at the time. Obviously, the whole store staff has been taught "Don't give away the store when you don't have to". I guess that's a good motto but it doesn't make me want to come back. It doesn't make me want to spend money in your store. So, good for you. Your bean counters got to keep an extra $10.50 but PetSmart is the last place I'll ever return to for my pet supplies. I had the clerk re-sign me up for the PetSmart frequent shopper program, where you get free treats for spending money. That was done BEFORE I paid $226.26 for the dog igloo. When I got home, I found out in my email that a new customer has to sign up twice to get treats. That $226.26 purchase counts for ZERO as far as free dog treats. Once again, the filthy bean counters really know how to pinch a bean but I'll be flat out desperate before I'll ever come back. To be clear, this is nothing against the Palm Desert PetSmart in particular. This is how EVERY customer is treated in EVERY Petsmart. The bean counters figured out everything except how to get customers to return to Petsmart for a second visit. read more

I'm not quite ready to write a full review. Our Rozee, a 14.5 Chiweenie died last night. We took her to the shelter as we couldn't afford to have her cremated. I had no intention on getting a new furry so soon. I just needed to walk away from the front desk at the pound. I didn't expect to see a small dog with all the pit bulls there. Then I saw this little scared Chiweenie in a cage with another Chihuahua, who couldn't be released yet, do I asked to see the scared dog. We like senior dogs, and this little dog is 1. She may outlive us. So, we stopped in to get a collar for the new girl (no name yet but I'm thinking Daisy Rayne or Cricket) and a new pink collar for my 5lb full Chihuahua. I didn't see the price for one of the collars and was shocked it was $17 and change! Well now both my girls will have pink collars with sparkles on them. What I like about this store is that it's clean and the people that work there are pleasant. Can't say as much for the lady just outside the door who was conducting the cat adoption station. I know she doesn't work for this business, but wow she had LOADS of personality. read more

I've been here a few times over the past few months to buy goodies for my dog. The employees here are super friendly. I'm always greeted as soon as I walk into the store and while I'm browsing around there is always someone who asks if I need any help looking for things. They also seem to be pretty well stocked. I can never find the things I want at the PetSmart back home in Pasadena (they NEVER have the right clothing sizes for my dog there :(...) so more reason to shop here :) read more

After leaving this grooming salon once because of disrespect, I tried it again. I have had two great experiences with the groomers until today. I arrived 10 minutes before my pets appointment. I stood outside the salon door waiting for a bit while the people in front of me finished checking in. When they left, I went inside with my dog. There were 6 groomers in the salon. Only one after a short wait asked if I was checking in. I said yes, and she said what time is your appointment. I replied and she said your early and we do not allow early check ins. I was shocked. I'm now 8 minutes early. for my appt. time. They refused to check the my dog in and said my groomer was at lunch and I would have to wait until she came in. The groomer had worked with my dog before. I waited 10 more minutes and then I left. Walking to my car, what do you know, here comes my groomer back from lunch. She is now 12 minutes late to what would have been my appointment. WE LEFT. I can find a place that's not as filthy and where we all get respected and not lectured about being early. read more

Went to the Grooming salon and was given a groomer named Manuel for a deluxe grooming package. I have had this dog and others groomed at high end salons for years. Manuel did the best grooming job ever! I had a feeling he would be good as he had a very calm and professional demeanor. In fact, all the groomers were pleasant and conducted themselves in a professional manner. And, the facility had no yucky smell as others often have had. Super impressed with the grooming salon at this Petsmart and especially impressed and pleased with Manuel. Toby never has looked so good! Update 8/28/17: Manuel moved to Arizona so today we had a groomer named Bianca who did a fabulous job with Toby. She groomed him exactly as we had asked her to do. She was very professional and very kind to our dog as well as very nice to us. I highly recommend her and will definitely be going back to her for Toby's grooming. read more

I loved the grooming section very much at this Petsmart which is why it pains me to decide never to go there again. I was dropping off my dogs for grooming which is customary every two weeks. As I was leaving there was a dog in a truck unattended barking loudly. The windows were cracked but still the dog should not have been unattended especially in the parking lot of a PETSMART. I went into the store and asked for a Manager. Larry Stewart and I went out to the car where Larry took down the license number expecting him to go back inside to FIND the owner of the truck I waited outside for about 10-15 minutes long enough for two other shoppers to come by expressing the same concern. When Larry or the owner never showed up I went into the store looking for either. I wan't able to find them so I called 911. The owner finally came out and was amazed that all of us were so concerned about this situation. What made me so angry was how Larry had no concern about the issue other than to make a lame page to try to find the guy. Dog's like kids are often left in cars unattended, but to have a dog left in a car in a PETSMART parking lot with employees who are not concerned is criminal (which is another story). I read the riot act to Larry and asked for his card. In looking at the card it listed Larry's position as a trainer and not a manager. I REALLY WONDER WHAT LARRY TEACHES IN HIS CLASSES IN REGARD TO PET SAFETY? BTW-I used to go the Petsmart in PS, but left because the groomers are better in Palm Desert. I will be going back to PS and handle the attitude at that stores grooming department, EXCEPT for Boomer who is great. Also Ralph the trainer in PS is an incredible trainer and has trained 4 of my dogs. AH, the trials and tribulations of dogs and their owners. I really hope not to have to spend any more time, energy and angst again in regard to my beloved house mates. read more

Our older dog has been groomed by the same person back home for 8 years, so while staying in area over Christmas, was little concerned Our dog wouldn't deal well with new groomer well...but Brittany put our concerns at ease, and dealt with our nervous dog very well! Sounds like there's a few great stellar groomers at this store...so just ask for person who knows how to deal with your dogs particular needs the best. Definitely go back for Brittany as she put our dog at ease and does great grooming! read more

My American Eskimo became very sick. Would not eat or drink. I brought her to the Banfield on Montoray where I am a member and left her for an exam. They called me and said she had an anal infection. They sent her home with pain medication and antibiotics. I gave her the meds but she was in sooo much pain she would not walk, eat or drink. When I called the next morning I spoke to Dakota, she said they could do nothing because the Vet that examined her was out for 4 days.They would not let me talk to another Vet. because they were not seen by the original Vet. They promised the original Vet would call first thing when she returned. They never called back nor checked in on my dog at any time. So my poor dog suffered for 4 days before she finally felt a little better. The cost was over $300.00 even on their wellness program. $300.00 for a Vet that didn't even bother to check in on my dog. Very Very unhappy with these people. read more

I've always been a fan of PetSmart. I came here to pick up some prescription food for my cat and the store was clean and had very friendly staff. I wish they wouldn't require me to get a new prescription for the food every 6 months though! My vet wrote the script for a year, but when I looked at my card, I could see it expires in July 2017. The groomer did a great job on my dog's summer cut but I was charged an extra $3 over my $44 quote. When I questioned it at the register, I was told it was the "weekend fee"...what? Took my 2 dogs there just to get their nails clipped. Easy, right?!? No, by the time I got them paid for they were limping, I didn't notice until I got home because they were so excited to get out of there! Once in the house they were both limping terribly. It took me a while to figure it out but they both had deep slivers of toe nails sticking out of their pads. They were in so deep it took me awhile to pull them out and I was surprised at how large they were and how deep they went. They bleed for a while after removing them and after getting them both cleaned up, it took two days before they could walk comfortabley without limping. Too make it short, I'll never take my dog's back there again, like most of us our dogs are our babies and I treasure both my dogs and my children to have them treated like this. My advice as a volunteer don't ever bring your animals there! And I was there watching!!!!! Not the cleanest, should not have had such dog hair and toenail clippings on the floor. Take them to a real groomer, it's worth it!!! read more

It was nice that they could fit in my 2 yorkies on a short notice for a grooming session; however, the service was poor. I asked for the works on my 2 dogs which includes a bath, haircut, nails, teeth, and anal glands. They neglected my girl and did not squeeze out her anal glands, so I had to do it myself which defeats the whole point of paying someone else to do it! On further investigation, I noticed they also clipped her ear. She had a lot of dried blood on both the inside and outside of her ear. My boy dog's hair around his face was way too short. I even showed them a picture of how I wanted it before the cut. Their prices are pretty good, but I guess you get what you pay for. read more

I have been a regular customer of this Pet Smart for 2 years. I scheduled appointments for my two dogs to be groomed. Upon arrival 20 minutes before the appointment I was not greeted with a smile and a welcome. I was instead very brusquely informed that I was early and the assigned groomer was not available and then blatantly ignored for the next several minutes. I decided that the attitude of the staff in the grooming area was not attitude that I deserved and after 15 minutes I left with my 2 dogs and will not return to this Pet Smart. I have made a commitment that I will not support businesses where I am treated rudely. We were very excited about having our Spaniel/Corgi mix groomed because he had long nails and long hair (not that long). We asked them to trim his hair as well as the one behind his ears because they were quite long and make him look neat and clean. After 3 hours of excitement, when we finally got to see him, we were ultimately disappointed. His hair was very choppy and the hair behind his ears was cut unprofessionally. They had 3 hours and gave us a result that looked like it was rushed (like 10 minutes) since they literally just cut it straight up. No layering, no proper way of cutting it. Just *CHOP*. The nails were alright, though. But 1 star for them because of the cut itself. $67 wasted on such poor work. Very very disappointing. read more

Customer service here is great. They talked us into enrolling our dog into the training there. I will update after the six-week course is over, but I'm optimistic that it will turn out great. This is a really great store, with a wonderful staff. May be a few pennies more than WalMart, but I dare you to try and get any help at all at WalMart, let alone someone who knows what he or she is doing. Well, the people at Petsmart Palm Springs definitely know what they are doing, and are more than willing to help any way they can. The training is superb -the best there is. Ralph Stern, the head trainer, is a true professional (he used to train dogs for the military). He's kind, knowledgeable, and patient. We got a rescue from the shelter who was a little wild, and a little scared. We went through all three levels of training with Ralph, and now he is a certified Canine Good Citizen and qualifies to be a Therapy/Visitation dog. Thanks Ralph, and Petsmart!!! I have been taking mu two doggies to PetSmart on Monterey in Palm Desert for 2 1/2 years. One of my little guys is blind and has no eyes. So I try to keep normalcy for him. We use to have our boys roomed by a wonderful man named Ben. Ben moved to another salon. We started to bring them to Bianca D. The first time she was wonderful. And I trusted her. The last two time I get a call within 12 hours and she will not be in. Not sure what her problem is. But I would never trust her again. I will never go to PetSmart grooming again... read more

I am in the hair indurty and I know how important training is. She is the best around. She always does a great job not only that she is super nice and understanding. THE GROOMING IS A TOTAL RIP OFF. I booked on-line for the Monterey store, one Westie, one Shih-tzu, both are 17 lbs. They charged me more for one dog than the other, not sure why, they are the same size ($47 & $53). The website says Grooming Includes: ears, nails, anal gland, hair cut and shampoo. I get there, the check-in person tells me the price is only for wash and cut. I asked "what about anal gland" he goes, oh yeah, BUT YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR IT? I asked what about the ears, "oh yeah, that is included". So I ask WHAT ABOUT THE NAILS??? He goes, "no that is not included". I told him trim one of my dogs nails and add it on. I go home, check the website again, NAILS ARE INCLUDED. So I go to pick up my dogs. I ask why are the dogs different prices? I also checked the other store on Hwy. 111, their prices are $40 for my dog? (However, If you check other days and times, the prices vary like a gas station??) I ask why? The groomer could not give me an answer. Says "weekends" cost more. I booked on a Friday, that is not weekend, SAT & SUN IS THE WEEKEND? And it doesn't list that anywhere on the website! I ask are nails included? The groomer says yes.. I said they why are you charging me $12.. she says that is for "FILING", that I "asked" for it. I told her NO, I asked if the nails were included, the guy said no, so I added one dog. I asked, so did the nails get clipped on both dogs? she says yes, but the one dog also got "nail filing" per my request. I am so pissed. NO WHERE in the grooming part of the store do they have ANY pricing listed, and what is included. IF YOU GO THERE, MAKE SURE YOU GO OVER EVERYTHING BEING DONE TO YOUR DOG, WHAT THE PRICE IS, AND MAKE SURE YOU ASK THEM TO PERFORM EVERYTHING YOU ARE PAYING FOR! CHECK ALL DAYS AND TIMES TO GET THE BEST PRICE BECAUSE IF NOT, YOU WILL BE PRICE GAUGED TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE THEY CAN TRY TO RIP YOU OFF! Never going back! Shame on Petsmart! read more

I am sending this as a caution. I was in the store on Monterey today. I saw salmon dog treats which were made in China. By now it is well established that products from China can be hazardous to the health of pets. When I spoke to 3 people all professing to be managers, they all got dumb looks on their faces and said "there is nothing I can do." When I called their customer service, I spoke to a young man named Ben who said they only sold products from China that were "safe." How did they establish this?
